The three ajumma musketeers for Go So-young’s Perfect Wife

Ajumma bestie trio Go So-young (Beat, Gumiho), Kim Jung-nan (Fantastic), and Jung Soo-young (Second to Last Love) in KBS’s upcoming drama Perfect Wife is a group of friends I’d like to have when I’m forty. Through thick and thin, they’ve stayed loyal friends since junior high, despite the divergent life paths they’ve led. The first official teaser is also out, showing us an inside look at the daily life of the ordinary housewife heroine Shim Jae-bok, played by Go So-young.

Although her name means luck, Shim Jae-bok’s life hasn’t been filled with much of it. Her career never took off, and she’s still working as a part-time probationary employee, while her bumbling husband, played by Yoon Sang-hyun (Shopping King Louis), keeps causing trouble. The housewife comedy drama will tell the story of how she rediscovers her identity, not just a wife or a mother of two but as a person, when she becomes involved in a strange mysterious occurrence.

Even though she hasn’t had much luck with life’s curveballs, thankfully, Shim Jae-bok has two great friends, who are her best support network for everything, whether her kids need to be picked up or she needs to be bailed for a traffic ticket. Kim Jung-nan plays a hot pilates instructor constantly engaged in torrid love affairs, and Jung Soo-young plays a psychology professor enamored by her own brilliance.

In the teaser, Go So-young poses like a goddess amidst flying golden confetti. Suddenly, the scene changes to her chasing down a woman, while the caption reads, “World’s best ajumma.” She proceeds to mercilessly KO her husband, while he pleads for forgiveness. (Perhaps he cheated on Go So-young with the runaway woman?)

But during work, she tries to be a pacifying influence when an irate client comes in, until the client punches her nose, drawing blood. The last scene shows Shim Jae-bok attempting to entice her husband, whose back is turned and his face is cringing. Hurt, she asks, “You hate doing it with me that much?” and retreats with a disappointed expression.

Perfect Wife will premiere starting February 27, after currently airing KBS drama Hwarang ends it run.
