Hyun Bin, Yoo Ji-tae, Ryu Joon-yeol
- A speedy reunion might be in store for Hyun Bin (Hyde, Jekyll, Me) and his Alliance director Kim Sung-hoon. The star has received an offer to star in the director’s next work, a Joseon-era zombie blockbuster titled Rampant. [Xports News]
- Aieee, two of my favorites, Yoo Ji-tae (The Good Wife) and Ryu Joon-yeol (Lucky Romance), together on screen in the film Money? Money! They’ve been cast as the leads in the feature debut from Park Nu-ri, who was an assistant director on The Berlin File and on Man in Love. In the movie, an average salaryman will dive into the stock market, only to find himself knee-deep in and up against a giant scheme. Money will head into production within the next few months. [Sports Chosun]
- I liked her in Police Unit 38, and I’m on board with this casting: Lee Sun-bin is being courted for the role of J.J. in the Korean remake of Criminal Minds (the U.S. original is currently on its twelfth season!), that of a law-enforcement officer and communications liaison. Her reps confirmed that the offer had been received, but because her current project, Missing 9, is still airing, no decision has been made. Filming will begin in the spring, and Criminal Minds will be 100 percent pre-produced and released in the fall on KBS. [Osen]
- It’s been a couple of years, but Eunjung (Endless Love, Queen Insoo) is returning to the small screen in a new daily drama called All Kinds of Daughters-in-Law. She’ll play a woman who works for a publishing company as a ghostwriter and a younger fraternal twin. Her mother has played favorites since the twins were young girls, and Eunjung is used to putting her unni’s needs first—she even did all of her sister’s homework growing up. The show about feuding sisters marrying into the same enemy household and attempting to reconcile their family with their in-laws will premiere in April on MBC. [Joongang]
- The star-studded political film 1987, which is based on the real-life events of the June Democracy Movement, has two confirmed additions to its ranks. Park Hee-soon (Missing Noir M) and Lee Hee-joon (Legend of the Blue Sea) have been cast in unspecified roles, and Chungmuro vet Yoo Hae-jin is also being wooed to play a prison guard. [Osen, Ten Asia]
- Yoon Yeo-jung (Dear My Friends) has received an offer to play the mother of two adult sons, has-been boxer Lee Byung-heon and piano prodigy Park Jung-min, in That’s My World. Filming on the directorial debut from writer Choi Sung-hyun (The Fatal Encounter) will begin at the end of May. [Star News]
- Joining stars Jo Seung-woo and Bae Doo-na in Forest of Secrets is Yoon Se-ah (Gu Family Book, A Gentleman’s Dignity). She’ll play the daughter of the Minister of Justice, and the hotly anticipated tvN drama about an emotionless prosecutor and a righteous police officer teaming up to expose internal corruption will be fully pre-produced and premiere on the cable station before mid-year. [Sports Chosun]
- Nice, Jo Soo-hyang (Romance Full of Life, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-ju) has scored the lead in Coffee Noir: Black Brown, an action film about what would happen if coffee were banned in Korea. (I can already tell you what, mutiny!) Cameras began rolling earlier this month, and I have hopes Jo’s badassery will be on full display in the noir movie. Until its release, we’ll be able to catch her in the upcoming film Compatibility. [DongA]

Oh gosh!!! Yoo Ji Tae and Ryu Junyeol.
So Junyeol will play the average salary man? Or the opposite? Either way, I'm totally in!
Yoo Ji Tae has been one of my fave actor. His mere presence is smoking hot. No need to say about his acting. Watched every single movie of him and I'm mesmerized.
For Junyeol, I've been keeping an eye on this actor. Just watched the King and eventhough his screentime is less throughout the movie, his presence is memorable. I could see this kid is going places.

That was seriously like dream comes true. And they even add City Hunter's prosecutor as the second lead. If only all casting news could make me this happy.

@xianne
Yes...even though he's just supporting role he's definitely scene stealer. Most review said the same words about it. He's not overshadowed by his very much 3 senior in the king Jung woosung, Jo insung, baek sunghyun. I'm so proud of him.
And I'm not sure if Ryu Junyeol yet confirmed his participation in the "Drug war " with JJW, cha seungwon...but this is his 3rd project of him this year alone. He probably must do double filming both if he accept Drug War.

Screentime is not important,it's your portrayal of the character that matters in the eyes of the viewers even you just have a matter of seconds on screen.
I actually admire how he accepts roles for movies. He's taking baby steps but learning diligently from his sunbaes and directors.
About the drug war,Woah! Really? Didn't know about the movie with JJW. Hope he'll accept it.

Wouldn't it be awkward if Eunjung's drama followed the low-rated flop starring Hyoyoung? Poor girl, she's now relegated to daily soap operas. :(

I miss Junyeol... is he confirmed for Money though? I love that he's getting all these interesting movie roles but I selfishly want a weekly dose of him on my screen in another drama
-- a good one though, to help me forget the mess that was Lucky Romance which in fact never happened!!!Required fields are marked *

I wonder if this steady (and higher profile) acting gig offers will put a kibosh on Lee Sun-bins return (or at least delay it) to idol-land (having been a member of a girl group which never made it and disbanded).
LSB is a triple threat (can act, sing and dance), but don't see the point in trying to stick her into another girl group when most idols want to do acting (btw, LSB is another who came from an idol background who has shown to have acting chops).

I think korean channels should stop including in their promotion that a drama will be "100% pre produced" since it seems koreans are allergic too it (though some PPDs are really worth watching) ?.

100% pre-produced means quality. Production companies know that rating does not guarantee better returns anyway.
I don't Korean viewers are allergic to pre-produced but tend to be influenced by commercials. Say Goblin. The producers of such drama probably spend on ads in public TV. It was probably mentioned in most popular variety shows. Do you think feature of Goblin in those shows come for free? Nothing is free in Korean TV. Of course it came for a price. This one thing I don't understand they should have spend this money on the production itself. This what happened to Goblin due to tight schedule: Bad Quality
*too many flashbacks. Why? Because they are out of time to shoot enough footage. That drama probably would be 5 episode less if you removed those unnecessary & repetitive scenes.
*bad sound quality. - I don't think it was even edited. It is not that they have bad sound directors but probably didn't have enough time to edit it properly.
Aside from bad quality: the working condition of the actors, staff and crews are at stake. Did you remember the Masked Prosecutor controversy? That was because of bad working conditions.
