Sweet and lovable Strong Woman Do Bong-soon is on her way

Ah finally, some more updates on Strong Woman Do Bong-soon. I’ve been eagerly anticipating Park Bo-young’s new drama, because it already feels like ages ago when she was cracking us up as a ghost-possessed girl in Oh My Ghostess. This time, she’s in a new rom-com where she plays a woman with superhuman strength, who wishes desperately to become the willowy type of girl her crush is into. Aw no, take a cue from Kim Bok-ju and find a guy who thinks your strength is sexy! I’ll bet you money there’s one in this drama…
The new JTBC drama comes from PD Lee Hyung-min of Ms. Temper and Nam Jung-ki and writer Baek Mi-kyung of Beloved Eun-dong, and stars Park Bo-young as Do Bong-soon, a young woman born with Herculean strength, who crushes everything she touches if she isn’t careful. She’s got a great appetite and a great personality, and she’s had a crush on Ji-soo (Fantastic) since grade school. Her dream is to become his ideal type—a woman like a cosmos flower.
But thanks to her strength, she manages to get a job as a bodyguard to a snooty second-generation chaebol, played by Park Hyung-shik (Hwarang). Ha, I love that she’s going to be his muscle! He’s the CEO of a gaming company, described as crazy and odd and imperious. Ji-soo, meanwhile, is a righteous stickler for rules, and the drama will be about the love triangle that unfolds as she starts working for the eccentric chaebol.
Park Hyung-shik managed to do a good job of playing a haughty chaebol who actually made me feel for him in High Society, and I’m loving the mix of cockiness and vulnerability in his character in Hwarang right now, so I have high hopes that he’ll be more than just a boring prickly chaebol character in this drama. I’ll love it if he’s a scaredy cat who appreciates the heroine’s physical strength.
The show’s first teaser poster announces that “a pure superhumanly strong woman” is on her way, and Park Bo-young looks all sweet and innocent until you scroll to her feet and see that she’s crushing the floor just by walking on it. She’s so small that the super-strength should be a really comical visual, and I’m anticipating some great gags. Let’s hope there’s also a romance in Do Bong-soon’s future where she doesn’t have to hide her strength to be loved!
Strong Woman Do Bong-soon will air on Fridays and Saturdays on JTBC, and premieres February 24.

i'm really excited for the cast and plot and am hoping this is finally a good role for jisoo, i like that pby likes him and not the other way around or else it'd be nothing new for jisoo who always plays the puppy dog second lead. this set up reminds me of weightlifting fairy kim bok joo

After reading the character descriptions I kinda feel JiSoo would be better as the Chaebol Bo Young is supposed to protect. And cool collected Hyung Shik as the guy who likes girls as delicate as cosmos flowers. Is there any chances of them doing a switcheroo? None? Okay.

Nah Hyungshik look more like a Chaebol to me. The way he stand and walk seems like he is rich by first look. I mean just look at the photo above with the 3 of them. Plus Hyungshik really comes from a rich family that is probably why he have that aura and image. Jisoo is better for the more serious role (the one who is very stick to rules) while Hyungshik is better fitted for the crazy and odd CEO role.
I know that dramabeans love Jisoo but I did not like his acting that much in Moon Lovers especially in the first few episodes and even think Hong Jong Hyun who is criticized for his acting before did way better than him. So I really don't think he is prepared for lead roles. While in all the roles I saw Hyungshik (I saw 5 of his dramas), he did well in all of them and still manage to standout even if he is just supporting role. And in High Society, Hwarang and What's With This Family for me he did better than the leads. Even Knetz who hate idols acting think so as well.

That was too fast... but what I wanted to say was, too sad that that's her life's dream. I just can't relate to heroines whose life only revolves around a guy, I wish we could get heroines that live for themselves (like Ms. Temper actually). There's so much more in life than finding "the one" and (ughhh) changing yourself for him, but kdramas seem to be stuck on this.
At least her crush-everything-strength characterisation has potential (if the drama can get the right message across – some recent dramas come to mind that failed at this).
The casting isn't bad though.

Hmmm, I think you may be reading a bit too much into that statement? (Or at least, I hope so?) I doubt it's the only dream in her life, but that, because this is a romance drama, it's important to the premise to describe her romantic aspirations. I also just feel like any young girl in her twenties who had super human strength and hasn't experienced love before, would have a little insecurity about not being the ideal type of woman.
As for changing for the guy you love, I completely agree that that's not something you should do. But there are plenty of people that need to go through life a little to figure that out, and given that the guy she's changing for isn't the one she's ending up with, I'm hoping this show is heading towards that kind of message.
I personally like relating to misguided heroines that maybe have a few mistakes to make in life before they figure out what's truly important. While I share your outlook, I would never lose my ability to relate with girls like that, because I feel like I'm dismissing them for their weaknesses, instead of looking for their strengths and pulling for their growth.
I do wish I had a bit more confidence in the writer, but the PD for this could steer things in the right direction.

The writer only did melodrama before (Eun Dong) and i liked that drama, maybe the plot was dragging but the acting was super great. So not sure how her first romcom will be. But I believe the PD.

same, while i understand that sentiment i also look forward to a good character development over the course of the drama. its more satisfying for me, when the female characters have some kind of weakness/flaw/something they have to overcome what ever they be. i can tell that's where they will be headed, where she can accept herself for who she is and stop trying to be the ideal girl that guys or one guy would fall for

I think the end goal in this drama is for her to appreciate her own strength and see that as wonderful, and be with the guy who likes her for herself. So, I'm with you that I think women should not be so concerned about fitting some silly type, but it's something so many girls struggle with it will be satisfying to see her overcome that in the drama.

WTF is JTBC actually moving its Fri-Sat dramas to 11 pm?! Doesn't bode well for Man to Man. IMHO they should just return to competing with the Mon-Tues 10 pm dramas since it worked so well with Secret Love Affair.

I love PBY but will wait and see on this one. WF was my jam for these last few weeks but while both stories are similar with a physically strong female at the forefront, what actually made WF special was the way everyone else was so normal and relatable and their troubles weren't life and death situations. This plot going back to a chaebol and initially jerk male lead is little bit eh.
Waiting it out and if I hear and see great reviews might jump on the ship then.

Oh i love how kdrama gods play on "born-again"/"reincarnation" fate. I first watch it on rooftop prince, then my love from the star, then scarlet heart, and the best one is the unintentional one like this! bodyguard/butler born again into love interest(who is a bodyguard)'s father. (WF did great too with SHR nam joohyuk, jisoo, z.hera, and seohyun)

Hmmm, I am a bit confused with one thing. Here you guys write that Ji Soo's character has had a long-time crush on PBY's character, but in the Soompi article I read, it says it's the opposite. That she has harbored a crush on him for the longest. And you both seem to have sources for your material, so what's the truth here?
Anyway, I haven't decided yet if I like the poster or not, only because of its execution. You might say that it's not meant to look "realistic", but there is also this thing that a poster (for example) should be clear with if it wants us to think that it's only a comedical depiction... Maybe I'm overthinking it lol. HOWEVER... I really like the logo and everything is forgiven with that.

I am so happy to see Jisoo on my screen again, and of course our dear leads - Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young.
I love him so much............. but I am always #TeamMainLead, so unfortunately I will have to like him 'less' in the drama. I am so sad.
When will my heart get to unite with JiSoo and make me scream out loud for the OTP?

What I mean by that is, for e.g. in Sassy Go Go, since he wasn't a lead, no matter how cute he was, I would feel jealous when he used to be with Eunji, because Eunji is for Lee Won Geun only. So I didn't support his 'crush' towards her.

Its like an internal conflict lol. So, in this drama, if he gets close with PBY, I will feel angry and think "She should be with HyungSik!!!"

Lol oh you're just like me. In kdramas the otp is usually set so I don't barely sway on who I want the female lead to end up with because of all that predetermied fate stuff. I set my heart on an otp and I keep to it even if a characterization goes wrong because you know characters can change for the better or worse and love means sticking through thick and thin. Sometimes if I really like second lead then I just want him with someone else who is as deserving.

from previous previews hyungshik's chara should be a self-made CEO a la ryu jun yeol in lucky romance. but here he's a scond gen chaebol which is completely different

Yeah that was the original character description release for his character. That he is crazy and odd but a great gamer and love playing computer games so he develop games and built his fortune from that. But it seems like they have change it. Because now it says he is second generation Chaebol. I don't know why they change it because the first decription seems better since he earned his own money on his own. But they probably wanted to make him rich from the start o born rich so they change it. Anyway that is just minor details what's important is the story.

On the other hand i am so excited to see both Park Bo Young and Park Hyung Shik on my screen again! I've really started likong park hyung shik as an actor after Hwarang and somehow he has become my main reason to watch that drama. Park Bo young has always been good and cute whatever has done! Incredibly excited for this drama and Tomorrow With You! I love, love, LOVE Park Boyoung ❤️ she's honestly one of my favourite if not favourite actress. She just makes me smile so big. Jisoo or Hyungsik seems like a tough choice to say the least lol! I'll watching this for sure~

Jisoo character as stickler for rules reminds me of his lawyer role in Fantastic.
Park hyun sik is actually quite good in roles that suits him.
