Beware of the silent monster in the penthouse in Introverted Boss

Heh. This is one monster I could get behind — he’s not all that scary! Two new teasers are out for tvN’s upcoming opposites-attract office rom-com Introverted Boss, along with behind-the-scenes stills of cast member Yoon Park (Age of Youth) looking suave in character as Kang Woo-il, the extroverted leader and ideal man who’s got a way with words.

Yeon Woo-jin (Divorce Lawyer in Love) plays protagonist Eun Hwan-ki, an unbearably shy but successful head of a PR company. He may be stellar at his job, but his severe introverted personality only causes discomfort for the people around him. Try as he might to conceal himself under his black cap and hood, they’re no invisibility cloak, and he can’t remain in his penthouse abode forever; the hermit crab has to step out of its shell at some point, and hijinks ensue.

Park Hye-soo (Age of Youth) plays Chae Ro-woon, the new employee at his company, and the polar opposite and nightmare of her introverted boss. She’s loud, bold, and has a personal vendetta against him for reasons unknown. I wouldn’t put it past her to exact some sort of revenge, but I think we can expect that it’ll be of the light and humorous variety.

Gong Seung-yeon (Master–God of Noodle), Yeh Ji-won (This Week, My Wife Will Have an Affair), Jeon Hyo-sung (Wanted), Heo Jung-min (Oh Hae-young Again), and Han Jae-suk (Always Spring) play the other employees of the PR company who’ve each got their own set of foibles and personality quirks.

The minute-long teaser opens with Yeh Ji-won warning her coworkers never to press the top floor button in the elevator where the introverted boss lives, and we see Yeon Woo-jin all by his lonesome in his spacious penthouse. But he gets swept up in a corporate scandal, and the media goes berserk, which leads to the opening of his penthouse doors. He’s known as the “silent monster” because he’s such a recluse, but some people think he’s an actual psychopath. We then meet rookie employee Park Hye-soo, late for work but ultimately unfazed. She stirs up trouble and is determined to defeat the psychopath born with a golden spoon in his mouth, along with his father. But she ends up saving her boss from falling off the rooftop, while he regrets ever getting close to her from the start.

The shorter teaser more or less contains the same content and highlights the main couple: the germaphobic, socially inept, hermit king who never leaves his penthouse fortress and the sassy new employee who refuses to leave him alone. January 16 can’t come soon enough, and I can’t wait to see this bizarre love story unfold.

Introverted Boss will premiere on tvN on January 16, and will air on Mondays and Tuesdays.

That's what I was thinking. So do I save my rewatch of FBND for later and live watch this? Or watch both at the same time?

What a nice dilemma kekekeke

Why do they always potray introverted people as the people who are extremely shy and have social anxiety that reject people at all cost lol, as an introvert myself such generalisation/stereotype tires me so much, we don't hate people, we socialise too, but sometimes we also prefer to be alone, damn it.

But guys I am not sure which category I should place myself in. I am an introvert as I just like to keep to myself but I am friendly and approachable at the same time. Most of ther time I just grow tired of people and their talks. If I have the option betwen shutting up and suffering the consequences ( e.g. being missunderstood) and explaining myself using long paragraphs; my choice is always "oh yeah okay" and silence. It is just so peaceful.

I wonder what type of an introvert he is. Perhaps an INTP like me.

I haven't watched the teaser.

But I'm an introvert with social anxiety who rejects people at most costs and hates the idea of people rather than the people themselves. I detest socializing and being alone isn't so much a preference as a default at this point.

I'm not shy though. Quite the opposite.

My number one dream has been becoming a productive hermit since I was 11.
Or find the perfect island that has yet to be discovered and never will be desired.

So I feel like the problem might not be generalizing the symptoms but writing only 6% of introverts types and personas. I do agree that the recluse stereotype in dramaland is a definite disorder.

Introvert should not be synonymous with other personality traits.

So is Ro-woon exacting revenge on Hwan-ki because she thinks that he harassed her older sister (according to the teasers)? Oooh maybe that caused him to become a hermit...

I used to be very shy but now I think I'm more of an introvert.

For a long time I struggled to find the right words to describe myself because although I'm quite friendly, might be called social and have no problem sitting amidst strangers, I also love staying home or indoors. I'm don't go out much and people around me teasingly call me a 'kept wife'.

So I wondered what to call myself, I wasn't as shy like I used to be and I thought and introvert was someone who painfully shy and reserved.

Anyway, just wanted to say that I'm happy to finally have an accurate description. For some reason, I don't feel as weird anymore because of it lol.

Yeon Woo Jin plays such roles so well! He can be snarky but can also be so swoony. Plus he does slapstick with great timing! So excited for this, along with Time Traveller :)
