Su Ae meets friend and foe on the way to her house

With only a week away until the October 24 premiere, a new batch of stills and teasers are out for KBS’s upcoming “twisted family tree rom-com” The Man Living in Our House.

Su Ae (Mask) plays a hotheaded flight attendant who’s engaged to an investment manager played by Kim Ji-hoon (Jang Bori Is Here). Based on the newest teaser, the proposal looks romantic and sweet with pink balloons and glowing candles arranged in the shape of a heart, but… then we cut to Su Ae’s shock in spotting her fiancé embrace another woman, a coworker at that, dressed in the same uniform! Tsk, tsk. As if she didn’t have enough on her plate with a cheating fiancé, we also learn that her mother (Kim Mi-sook) unexpectedly passed away in a car accident. These two events weigh heavily on her mind as she makes her way back to her hometown.

Lee Soo-hyuk (Lucky Romance), looking quite fashionable and wealthy, notices her as she walks past him and curiously wonders to himself, “Was there a woman like that in this neighborhood?” Su Ae also passes by Jo Boa (Monster), her manipulative rival, who appears to pity her for a second before her look of concern turns into a smirk. This one obviously can’t be trusted.

Su Ae glumly nears her destination and looks up when a stranger calls out her name. It’s Kim Young-kwang (D-Day), the titular man living at her house who claims to be her stepfather. She asks him who he is, and the two gaze at each other as they stand outside their home.

In the second teaser below, Su Ae wakes up with a start and tries to snap out of her hangover by stepping outside. A small boy starts a conversation with her, but he has the voice of an adult man, heh, which really befuddles her. All of a sudden, this kid announces that he’s her father, and she turns to find Kim Young-kwang sitting casually next to her. She yelps in alarm, and when she inquires about his identity, he answers that he’s her father in a booming villainous voice while holding up a Darth Vader mask and cackling maniacally. And Su Ae realizes that what she saw the night before wasn’t a dream or a hallucination.

So far, this webtoon adaptation is looking pretty cute with Su Ae supplying most of the charm. I feel like some are a bit apprehensive about Kim Young-kwang’s casting, but who knows, perhaps he’ll surprise us as the young farmer and possible stepdad, and enter our hearts just as he suddenly enters Su Ae’s life. Jo Boa’s looking adorably up to no good, and Lee Soo-hyuk’s being his characteristic swoon-worthy self. There may be something for everyone, and the only way to find out is to tune in!

KBS’s The Man Living in Our House will air on Mondays and Tuesdays after the end of Moonlight Drawn By Clouds and premiere on October 24.

I would much rather have a secondary loveline between Jo Boa & Lee Soo Hyuk, in another life I suppose ?. I've felt this way about a lot of second lead actors and actresses, one example would be Jeon Hye Bin and Lee Joon in woman with a suitcase. End the forever alone heroic second male lead and bitchy second lead trope in 2017. Spread the love dramaland ?

Agreed! I don't quite get all the hate. I found Kim Young Kwang really charming in Plus Nine Boys, and I even liked him as the bad boy/jerk character in Can We Get Married.
I do also think that Lee Soo Hyuk really needs to switch agencies because he either does really mediocre dramas or he's always playing second fiddle and he's too good for that.

ia, burn it to the ground! I'm sick to death of female second leads always being written to get hate or look pathetic, because apparently viewers can't be trusted to feel sympathy for more than one girl at a time, smh. Meanwhile multiple male leads can be sympathetic, no problem.

And A kind second male lead whose sole purpose is to spark jealousy in male lead or serve as tissue when female lead is sad & then thrown to lonely sunsets or abroad... this needs to be stopped too....

Ditto. Second lead doomed to loveless and lonely end is really over done. And Lee Soo Hyuk is I'm another noona romance that won't come into fruition .. Boohoo. Il give Young Kwang the benefit of the doubt. He surprised me and suited very well with his role as Manager Kang grumpy but sweet guy is GoHo or Gogh's Starry Night. Can't wait to watch Su Ae.

Am I the only one who saw Lee Soo Hyuk and just blurted out "GWI!"? x'D It's funny when I think about how much I hated his chara in SWWTN until the last few eps. Lee Soo Hyuk just played the 'mourning monster' part so well it turned the role of the spine-chillingly evil antagonist into something that was...still evil, but also so very, very sad.

Ahem, vampire sageuk nostalgia aside, I'm pleasantly surprised by how well Kim Young-Kwang suits the role!! (Mostly because I remember wanting to hit him over the head during most of Pinocchio lol.) But he's really got this natural, playful charm that makes me love him as a male lead.

And that said.........I technically knowwwwww that Ji-Hoon is in this as the cheating scumbag. But. I don't suppose we could have a redemption arc for him? Maybe? Please? Pretty please? Ji-Hoon is too good to waste as a throwaway scumbag! *tears*

I think Gwi is my favourite of all Lee Soo-hyuk's characters, and his scenes with Lee Jun-ki were A+++ fantastic. I loved how he just went for it, they played off each other so well, I was almost shipping lol.

I TOTALLY agree with you about him being my fave character of his. Lee Soo Hyuk honestly just killed that role, like anyone else saying those lines and acting out those scenes could've come off super cheesy and melodramatic, but he just threw himself into it and made it work.

That said, I have to admit my favourite scene with him is after his...depressed drinking night (forgive my vague phrasing to avoid random SWWTN spoilers lol) and he's yelling at the rat-minister, asking him why he's just standing there and not getting angry after what Gwi did.

Like, I can never forget the disbelieving look on Gwi's face, how his shaking rage and grief slowly faded away into this...wretched, incredulous revulsion. "Do you want to live that much?"

I mean it's a classic monster calling out monster scene, but LSH just emoted so the character awesomely that it gives me chills to this day. (I may or may not have the scene bookmarked on viki to rewatch every now and then XD.)

Honestly SWWTN was a mess but the casts saved the drama from total failure. And yes, Lee So Hyuk will forever be a Gwi for me.

Required fields are marked *

Oh god yes, that scene was amazing. His entire performance was this perfect blend of camp + genuine hurt+ louche, silky menace, I literally cannot think of anyone who could have done that role better.

Though yes, as Sera says, the entire cast of SWWTN deserved better than what they got to work with.

Honestly sometimes I think of SWWTN and want to weep tears of frustration at the wasted potential.

It's funny because time (or maybe trauma XD) has ensured that I don't even remember most of the drama beyond favourite scenes that stick out in my memory, but the disappointment is still fresh in my mind.

Honestly, it would take a lot to forget my initial excitement at the drama's beginning v.s me near the end screaming at the screen, "Dynamite? EFFING DYNAMITE? WHAT DO YOU MEAN DYNAMITE?!"

Su Ae in a romcom! Yay! It makes me sad though, that Kim Jihoon is designated to just a former flame role :( but then again it's great to see these new batch of young actors getting their chances to shine. Hang in there KJH! Kim Youngkwang fighting! I really like the plot and I'm very excited to watch this. Although the bulk of my reason is simply: Lee SooHyuk and his Willy Wonka suits!

Jo Boa's make up is obvious with the white thick coat of foundation and it doesn't spread well since her neck's color doesn't match her face. And she looks like she's same age with So Aee even though she's supposed to be younger.

I will watch for So Aee, but I will definitely skip Kim Young Kwang's parts.

How is that even possible when the premise is literally about them cohabiting in one house, together?

Also, I am confused. Is Kim Ji Hoon a cameo or what? Isn't he already leading man status after headlining all these weekenders? How did they manage to get him onboard as the 3rd male lead (not even 2nd!)? This boggles my mind.

If only Lee Soo-Hyuk or Kim Ji-Hoon were the lead of this drama. Where does KBS get the idea to give Kim Young-kwang another opportunity to ruin a drama after his dismal performance in D-Day? Soo Ae deserves better than that. Having said that - luckily for those of us wanting to watch it, KBS WORLD will start airing the first ep. 10/25. They call it Sweet Stranger and Me. They already subbed the teasers too.

There has been some controversy regarding a quote or two regarding his "type" or not as far as women are concerned, among others. I don't follow things like this closely, so I'm removed enough that it's not dampening my thoughts on his casting. I thought he did well in other things I've seen him in and I loved Su Ae in "Mask", so I'm really looking forward to this.

But if you look at the plot premise, I think the director has chosen his cast pretty well this time. Very suitable cast for a webtoon. We all have our own favourite actors. Please don't put down other. actors if you have your own bias.
I also don't like certain actors but I don't put them down on public domain cos we don't know them personally. Thank you.

All the KYK criticism has to be because of his real life personality, because he's one of my favorite on-screen presences. He has a very easy charm about him that's fun to watch. I hope he's undergone some character growth since he gave those quotes about body types, because it does stop me from totally throwing myself into his characters' stories. Regardless, I'm excited for this drama! Su Ae is always a favorite.

I'll be honest, even before I knew about his quotable quotes, I wasn't really into him onscreen - he just comes off a bit smarmy.

But I think, depending on the role and his costar, he can be enjoyable to watch. I really liked him with Han Groo in Can We Get Married, they had great chemistry. Otherwise.... not so much.

I remember last time I heard about this drama I was only going to watch for the actress as I loved her in mask. However after watching go ho's starry night I actually have newly found love for young kwang haha. His tsundere character was honestly so cute in that drama, and he acts with lots of facial changes which makes him so expressive while not expressing anything. Basically, I'm a fan and excited to see him in a noona romance. Noona romances always bring the cutest parts of people out.

I like Kim Ji-Hoon but ever since he came out of the military, his working life seems to be have come to a still.

Indeed, I remember reading somewhere that in one of thiose reality shows he actually said that he is not getting any offers and that as the main breadwinner for his agency, a lot of people depend on him. Such a pity.

KYK: supposedly said "What I think is ugly is when women with thick thighs and short legs wear skinny jeans. Or those that wear leggings and a miniskirt and sit with their legs spread open on the subway... I sincerely ask those people to stop."

Gotta admit, I kind a agree w/him. I don't think he was shaming body type's, I think he was shaming how these body types chose to dress, blindly, and how some woman dress then behave in public. He is entitled to his own opinion, and if he comes from the fashion industry, he's critiques will be/seem harsh. He did need a good dose of humility though. Hopefully all the backlash he got for saying these things did him some good, character wise.

You forgot this part.

Kim Young Kwang: I've said this in almost every interview but whether they be a male or female, I like them to be pretty. I know that it's not necessary to say things like this but I'll look at someone's physical appearance and say, "I don't like that person. I don't think they'll match me." Then my friends will be like, "Hyung, you're really mean, you know that?"

But in all honesty, we have to differentiate reel from real life. They are actors after all. We patronize their works not their lives.
