Park Hae-jin is tall, dark, and mysterious for Man to Man

First stills for Man to Man are out! They’re not necessarily very informative stills, but they do feature Park Hae-jin (Cheese in the Trap), and he looks sleek and stylish, so I suppose even if we don’t see him bodyguarding or performing cool undercover maneuvers, it’s enough to tide me over for now.

The JTBC drama just started rolling cameras this week, and these stills come from the October 17 shoot, which took place in Seoul’s Seongsu-dong neighborhood. Park Hae-jin plays Kim Seol-woo, a mysterious man with a thousand faces who works as a ghost agent with the national intelligence service. He takes on a position bodyguarding the stuntman-turned-movie star played by Park Sung-woong (Remember—Son’s War), though we’re left to wonder what secret agenda he’s working.

The drama also stars Kim Min-jung (Master of Trade–Inn 2015) as Park Sung-woong’s biggest fan who gets a job as a manager in his agency, while Yeon Jung-hoon (Mask) does what he does best in playing a villain who hides his secret ambitions. Yeon will be married to Chae Jung-ahn (Yong-pal), although she’s in love with Park Sung-woong, making for some complicated love geometry. Although in dramaland, is there any other kind?

I’ve been intrigued by this drama since it was announced, but we haven’t been given a whole lot of new information and I’m a bit impatient to know more about the show beyond that basic setup, so I’m glad to hear that filming has begun and promos are starting to circulate. This is a solid cast all around, and while pre-produced dramas have met with mixed success in general, I’m holding out hope that one on JTBC will fare reasonably well. At the very least, I’m confident they won’t abruptly jump ship narratively and write out the hero from the drama’s ending. (Maybe I should be over that by now, but some trainwrecks are just too bizarre to forget. I’ll get over it when I finally understand it!)

Man to Man will be fully pre-produced and will air on JTBC in the first half of next year.

Don't worry, Javabeans. I completely understand your sentiment and I am with you. CITT has been my favorite drama that's why I was heartbroken with how it turned out. I wish I had a time turner and advice them of what the result would be.

On a brighter note, I'm happy to welcome back my Park Hae Jin Oppa <3

I'm sensing a great disturbance in the fan-base. Under a post about a new show most of the comments are about a certain old show that I never watched.

Next time somebody wants to write a kdrama about time travel, maybe they could have the hero be a script-doctor and each week they could go back and save the ending of a different show. Start with CITT, then maybe God's Gift, then..... any nominations ?

This. I vote for a script doctor who can change the ends of every disappointing kdrama I've ever watched. Maybe his next stop could be all the episodes higher than 6 of young-pal. That might take a while. Then maybe fashion king?

Funny enough, am coming up short. Okay, how about, the last five minutes of Faith?
*spoilers* Everything was perfect. He had become world wary and mature, so had she. But they both never lost faith, always kept hope alive that they would meet again. And they finaly did. After years of pinning and sadness. Under a beautiful, probably symbolic tree, and then...*crickets* *goats bleet* *cow moos*...The End.

I'd rather nuke the middle of Faith. The beginning & end were fine. 2nd half of final episode much better than kdrama average, IMHO.

Re: Faith
Am not even talking about the illogical detours, plot holes which abounded aplenty. I still loved it flaws and all.

Its what may be the most trivial thing that I still find myself uneccessary getting worked up over: their expresions.
WHY, oh God why, were they just standing there looking at each other like they were trying to hold in their farts? I'm not asking for bollywood reunion with stirring music and slow mo running into each others arms!

I find this discussion hilarious! Thank you for giving me a good laugh, and I agree.

Ack! I thought that I had blocked that out of my memory, but ugha! There it is - the last moment of...staring at each other while sad music plays. Really?!? Even running through the meadow at each other would have been better. I thought I was over it, but obviously not.... And CITT.

I keep hoping the truth about that show will come out one day because I STILL want to know why they would make such a nonsensical decision. Surely someone will leak the truth before I am eighty. Because there had to be a reason, right? RIGHT?

Wow, lots of feelings.

CITT will soon become one of the great mysteries of the century like those JFK conspiracy theories.

I mean, it really is a case of WE COULD HAVE HAD IT ALLLLLLLLLLL!!!

Hmm, too many to count, my friend. But along with the ones that have been mentioned, here's my shortlist:

Marry Him If You Dare
Night Watchman's Journal
Time Slip Dr. Jin
Mary Stayed Out All Night
Five Fingers
Sword and Flower
To The Beautiful You
Big
Cinderella's Sister
Doctor Stranger
Oohlala Spouses
Hyde, Jekyll, Me
Inspiring Generation (AKA Age of Feeling)
Gu Family Book
Pretty Boy
The Heirs

I could go on, but you get the picture. Of course, some of these just needed their ending changed, but some (you know the ones) should never have existed at all.

My nominations (with mini SPOILERS if you haven't seen these):
- Vampire Idol. Mukadil needs a happy ending too.
- Shine or go crazy: not make the audience go crazy.
- Emperor of the Seas: what was the point of this all?
- Empress Ki: just because of Tal Tal.
- King 2 Hearts: I'd change the ending of one certain Earnest Bot... (*cries all over again*)
- City Hunter: I may be in the minority here, and ignorant of the comics tradition, but maybe give it an actual ending?

Regarding Faith: My first Lee Min Ho drama. I wouldn't change a thing. It messed with my brain so bad that I feel entitled to explaining that I don't understand the whole time travel thing when I recommend it to friends.

I'm still not over it either, I think it's going to end up one of those things that becomes a punchline when we talk about kdramas.

I mean, there's fleshing out supporting characters in an ensemble to give them the chance to shine even if they take more space than is traditionally allotted for a second lead (e.g. Producer), and then there is, well, THIS.

my real complain about CITT is when they are focusing more on romance part... It's not one of CITT strength.... I'm good with the ending.... YJ is a jerk... Make him have a happy ending wouldn't make sense to me...

Life is not just black and white and not all about getting the "girl". That is the only thing i want to say .

I watch a drama for it story, the journey toward the end, not for the ending alone.

But Knowing Yoo Jung's full story and you still able to throw in such about him word.

Well, I'm already read the webtoon season 3 from oddsquad, and still I'm in the opinion at least an Open ending will be justified. The romance is just made it's impossible to make such ending due to pressure from fans... Because well, The romance already develop to such extent. I know, he is grey, But it's just not justifying his twist mind.

Nobody justify anything.
YJ is a character, even Soonki said she try to make every characters are as realistic as possible but still this is a webtoon, so dramatic is a need.
His exitence are ís the story and for the story. Just enjoy the story, the journey to the ending, what YJ, Hong Seol evolve and end up with are Soonki's business. I stop second guesting the story long time ago. She alway bring me pleasant surprise
And i've read more than you, till the finale chapter, Hong Seol seem to be really in love with YJ. So I think Yeah, Hong Seol are just a character, but the right to choose is still her.

Problem was not the open ending..

Problem was complete change in the flow of events..

The protagnist of the story were Jugn and Seol.. and the core concept of the story is figuring out Jung..

So, when the time came to unravel abt the character jung..story completely changed course to unnecessarily creating pushing a romance angle to fulfill some second lead in love with heroine trope..

Also, from the story's perspective, there are scenes that are meaningful in explaining why Seol depends on Jung and respects him so much.. whereas those same scenes were given to In ho .. again completely changing the course..

Either they should have clarified that they were adapting the webtoon from the word go. but that was not the expectation set..and hence the intolerance to bizzare plot development..

And lastly, you can feel it.. the thrill of the drama is sucked away post first hal fo fthe run... it becomes so so so boring

That's the major gripe I have about the drama. When it came to revealing YJ they switch In-Ho and is freaking piano!!! GGRRRR

0

Required fields are marked *

I think cheese in the trap is a classic example of why the second lead never get a girl in dramaland. I mean look at the situation- while we keep crying over our SLS there comes this director who says "okay fine, this time i am going to make the second guy win over the main guy and give him all his screen time. I am gonna break the jinx of SLS this time". But how badly did this backfire. This show basically taught us why second lead are supposed to be second leads and why the main leads should get preferences as well as the girl! CITT started the new wave i guess it is call First lead syndrome :P

Required fields are marked *

I gave up the drama halfway through when it got weird. But that's not because I was upset about the second lead getting the girl or whatever. That's a simplistic way of seeing it.
The problem was that the drama dwindled into really strange plotlines and nearly erased one major character. I never like it when a character becomes erased without giving adequate reasoning as to why. I'm sure other commenters can state better why the rest of the drama tanked but honestly, I dropped it when it went from being this refreshing true to life nostalgic college drama to a cliched mess that was equally repetitive and frustrating.

CITT is and was a favorite drama. It killed me in the end, but I still loved it. It was different and smart. I still recommend it, with a disclaimer of course. Can't rob PHJ, Kim Go Eun, Nam Joo Hyuk, Seo Kang Joon and the rest of the crew of their hard work. There is some excellent acting in it. Curious how the movie will turn out.

Man to Man- Excited to get my PHJ fix in the meantime. :)

Its not even about messing up with the Baek Siblings whom I loved ( twas my first time seeing Seo Kang Joon and I was really impressed with his acting, he put in so much heart) or the imbalanced screen time( which I would've understood if it was a deliberate narrative choice like in the first few eps), but it was the wrecking of the whole thing and sacrificing even our heroines voice in the process.

No one, I repeat, NO ONE benefited from... whatever thing that was. Not the director, not Poor Seo Kang Joon receiving netizen hate, not Kim Go Eun( tossed aside), not Park Hae Jin( forever characterized as a psycho monster). Like JB, I will never understand how it happened and who thought it'd be a great idea!

I choose (lol) to go with the popular controversy theory..

TVN did it.. because by that time casting for Entourage had happened...so they thought CITT is doing well .. why not promote Second lead ( who was already gaining a lot of fav reviews from all) since he would be the hero in Entourage..

And that backfired for all.. specially the actor for no fault of his

And I think everyone desperately wanted to punish TVN by not watchign the drama.. but then Another Miss Oh came along :)

and as they say, have been saying for ages...

Romance Rules, everything else is secondary

Nice! Tall, dark, (handsome), and mysterious is what Park Hae-jin is good at, so I'm totally excited for what's to come. He looks great, and I assume the rest of the cast will look just as sleek and cool, so can't wait for more goodies on this drama!

Bizarre and frustratingly disappointing latter half aside, Cheese will always have a special place in my heart because it sparked and ignited the love I now have so much for for both Park Hae-jin and Kim Go-eun.

My heart was never broken by a drama the way CITT did. But i always re-watch the first half of it. I know it's unfair but i felt indifference to Seo Kang Joon. I know its pathetic. But i always see Baek In Ho in him. Whom i never liked even in manhwa.

Still watching Entourage tho. Maybe if i'll see SKJ in a different character. I will finally feel forget BIH. Lol.

Am I the only one who despite loving Park Hae Jin had no problem with how the story played out in the end in CITT? I thought the character In Ho was so endearing that at some point I really wanted him to be with Seol instead. But then again, YJ sunbae was the one who had her heart - he was still clearly the first lead and he got the girl! I also loved the ending, it was so bittersweet. Open endings are not common in Kdramas I guess.
I might have forgotten or misunderstood somewhere, but the hate / disappointment for CITT (is it because the second lead got more screen time?) seems to be a bit out of proportion to me.
