Name That Drama: And of course, hijinks ensue
by HeadsNo2
As always, feel free to email us your questions and requests for future Name That Drama installments.
- A drama with a season in the title, hmmm…
I’m trying to find a Korean drama about a girl who became a secretary because she helped save the director of that company, so he offered her the position of secretary. He has a son (grandson?) who is a recovering alcoholic.
He runs this huge resort that has to do with water. She has an older sister who has kids. They went on a trip to Thailand and met someone who is related to the lead. The two leads didn’t seem to meet until much later. Can’t remember the title except the word “spring.” I want to watch it again, and I’m trying to find it so I can. Thanks!
- I’m kind of glad we’ve mostly gotten over the incest phase of dramaland. Orrrrr have we?
There is this drama lingering in my head, and I can’t seem to remember or find that drama. All I remember is one scene where the second male lead (if I’m not wrong) went running and banging on the female lead’s door to ask for help, as his grandmother had passed away.
After the grandmother died, he found his real father and found out the first female lead was his sister (if not half-sister). If I’m not wrong, the drama is about fifty to one hundred episodes.
- Hijinks, the lifeblood of K-drama
I’m looking for a drama where the two leads were in elementary school together and go back to open up time capsules that they buried when they were younger. I think the male lead put in a toy ring(?) in his, but he doesn’t show this to the female lead immediately.
They also get stuck in their hometown (I can’t remember why), and have to sleep at the school. And of course, hijinks ensue. I think that one of them confesses to the other when they think they’re asleep? This drama has been stuck in my head for days but I can’t remember the name or the actors. Please help!
- Cars, the leading cause of death in K-drama
Some years ago my mom watched a drama (it should be a drama, she doesn’t watch movies), and I caught a glimpse of it.
There’s a scene where a girl plays with a ball, but the ball rolls onto the street. The girl runs after the ball but then of course a car approaches and the girl is going to get run over, but the one I assume is the male lead sees the situation and saves the girl.
The girl is then crying into this ajusshi’s chest after he’s been knocked out by the car (the girl’s parents saw the whole situation as well as a woman, possibly the female lead). Then in the hospital, a female doctor examines the girl’s leg (her parents are with her), it had some bruises on it but apparently she just broke the leg, so she’s fine.
And when the male lead wakes up, he’s seen with a cervical collar. The girl gives him something. A lollipop, maybe? Does anyone know this drama? Sorry if it’s confusing.
- Beanies to the rescue!
Lately I’ve been going INSANE trying to remember this scene from a weekend drama. Normally I’d try rewatching dramas or googling recaps, but weekend dramas rarely have recaps and I’ve watched so many of them that I don’t think I could possibly survive all the 50-100+ ep rewatches… So finally, helpless and defeated, I have come to call on you, my dear beanies. Help a sister out.
To be honest, I only remember this scene because it felt incredibly funny to me at the time. A group of maybe three to five women went out to a nightclub for what I think was the first time for a few (or all) of them. I think one or two were young, but the others were ajummas. I think one was the mother-in-law of the other, and maybe there was a sister-in-law too.
Anyway, so they’re at a nightclub, I think to cheer the older ajumma up because she’s upset at her husband and rebelling. And they’re really enjoying it and eating fruit and stuff until some guys try to hit on one of them. And when they don’t go away, I think it was one of the older ajummas who hit the guy with her handbag yelling “THAT’S MY DAUGHTER-IN-LAW!” Or it might’ve been something else, but it definitely started with “That’s my _____!”
Then, right as this happens, all of their significant others happen to walk into the nightclub too (I don’t remember why but I’m pretty sure they had an innocent reason), so they see the women in a fight and go over yelling and joining in too, and everything just dissolves into the whole family beating up the night club guys.
I THINK they might’ve ended up in the police station, but only briefly, because I remember the mother-in-law walking home with her husband, and he was shaking his head at her going to a night club at her age. Any ideas?
- A healthy relationship with one’s mother-in-law? This can’t be a drama
Hi all,
There is this part of a drama that I’ve watched that I keep thinking about, but I can’t remember where it’s from, so any help would be much appreciated.
What I remember is this: The lead’s parents live with the paternal grandfather. The parents have an unhappy marriage because the dad is horrible, but the mother gets on well with her mother-in-law. At the end the mother kicks out the father, but asks her mother-in-law to stay, and they are happy together. Thanks in advance for any help!
Thanks for playing, everyone — till next time!

Most definitely. Though I'd like to forget about that drama asap. JNR's had more misses than hits these past two years.

#6 - Sounds like Marriage, Not Dating. Except the leads don't live with the parents, and the male lead's parents live with his mother (aka paternal grandmother, not grandfather). The male lead's mom fiiiiiinally asks for a divorce (because yes, he is horrible) and gets to keep the house, but decides to live there with her former sister in law and former mother in law (she only kicks out her ex-husband).

My gut is saying it's not MND. The description is only vaguely similar. But, memories are a tricky thing. So it really could be. I guess the only way to know for sure is for the asker to check it out and confirm!

I think this person is just confused about the existence of a grandfather, but everything else checks. They do celebrate the grandfather's death anniversary big, and that's when "Jang-mi" Han Gro's character was put to the test.

#3 is definitely One More Happy Ending. I only recently got to the 11th episode, and in the previous few ones, I watched some scenes that are EXACTLY similar to the description. Jang Na-ra and Jung Kyung-ho are childhood friends (he had a crush on her from when he was young), and they were called back to their old school to open up a time capsule and give the contents to the students. I remember it was in winter, so the terrible snowstorm forced them to stay in the school. Hijinks ensue, of course! And the one who confesses is Jung Kyung-ho!

It's a really good guess (and thank you both so much for trying!!) but I don't think that's it, since I'm pretty sure I watched this drama a few years ago, and I only got around to watching My Husband Got a Family this year. I'll look through my notes and double-check if it isn't that drama just to be sure, though.
See, I usually keep notes on every drama I watch -basically just lists of all my favourite scenes and which eps they're from- so it's normally super easy for me to find a scene I liked from a drama I don't remember.
Alas, last year I had a computer crash that lost all the drama notes I'd typed up in the past half decade (TO THIS DAY I AM STILL UPSET) so now I'm stuck with just the notes I wrote this year, as well as a few old, handwritten ones from like pre-2010. My drama archives, lost forever...
I think it's hardest with stuff like this because after a while all the family sitcoms seem to blur together (which is why I started keeping notes in the first place for all the good that did me lol). I really appreciate you guys trying to help me with this though!
(Here's me sweatdropping in the corner and feeling super guilty for bringing everyone on this hard journey lol)

It's that squishy thing that patients (or in dramaland, politicians and hallyu stars who want to pretend they're stuck in hospital) wear around their neck. Usually secured with velcro or straps.

Oooooo, you know what, that IS a possibility. I don't remember the scene happening there --but then if I did we wouldn't have this dilemma lol-- but like you said, it definitely is possible. I'll check it out and see!!
I'm honestly mostly annoyed because I'm SO SURE that I knew which drama it was up to a point, like I'd remember the scene, chuckle, think I should rewatch it soon, and then one day I remembered the scene without remembering the drama -.-

For the first time I knew the answer to one of these and everyone already has the answer! #3 is definitely One More Happy Ending.
Isn't #4 a scene from My Love Eun Dong. I vaguely remember it but I think the guy was on a motorcycle and he hurts himself while saving the girl.
#5 sounds like Gentleman's Dignity but the whole "That is my daughter- in - law" sounds like Marriage not dating, which is also what #6 sounds like!
Phew!

Yes, for #4 My Love Eun Dong does have a somewhat similar scene in the 1st episode itself
#5 scene does resemble to the one in Mariage Not Dating but it has only MIL and DIL with the mistress. Gentleman's dignity definitely isn't a match.
