Laughs abound during table read for The Man Living in Our House

Production has begun with the first table read for upcoming KBS rom-com The Man Living in Our House. Actors Su Ae (Mask), Kim Young-kwang (D-Day), Lee Soo-hyuk (Lucky Romance), Jo Boa (Monster), Kim Ji-hoon (Jang Bori Is Here), and staff all convened for the first time in three months to read through the scripts and get into character.

Family lines will get tangled in this webtoon-based romance. Su Ae plays the role of Hong Nari, a flight attendant who suddenly has to deal with Kim Young-kwang’s character, Go Nan-gil, a younger man who randomly appears in her mother’s house, claiming to be her stepfather. This will be Su Ae’s first rom-com in nine years, but judging from the reported fits of laughter during the table read, it seems her comedic chops are still intact as she fluidly switched from her usual melodrama fare to light comedy.

Kim Young-kwang plays the former legendary gangster who’s now a farmer, though the heroine is convinced he’s a conman and determined to prove it. Lee Soo-hyuk is his wealthy rival who only believes in the power of money, Jo Boa is Su Ae’s co-worker who lies at the drop of a hat, and Kim Ji-hoon is guest-starring as Su Ae’s wishy-washy boyfriend.

PD Kim Jung-min (Joseon Gunman) confidently asserted that The Man Living in Our House is a fun drama that will be shot in an enjoyable manner until the end. Let’s hope the laughs from the table read carry over onto the screen and induce us into giggle fits.

Written by Kim Eun-jung (Gabi, Flower Boy Next Door) and produced by Contents K (the same production company behind hit dramas Secret and School 2013), The Man Living in Our House will air on Mondays and Tuesdays and will premiere on October 24 as the follow-up to Moonlight Drawn By Clouds.

Yes. I may commit suicide I'm biting my tongue so much. I have decided to take Thumper's (the bunny in Bambi) family rule into my comment on this thread and say, regarding Kim Young-kwang. . ."if you can't say sumthin' nice. Don't say nothin' at all."

You can say it. It doesn't make you a hater. Kim Young-kwang is a pretty terrible actor, and I'm also surprised that he's managed to land another male lead role. Opposite someone like Soo Ae of all people which makes it even weirder. She deserves someone much better.

Poor Soo Ae. She waited nine years to get a rom com, only to be paired with KYK.... so sad.. KBS, shame on them. Why couldn't they give the lead role to Lee Soo-Hyuk? or so many other wonderful young actors?

kim young-kwang feels like such a random choice too, and to be honest, rather quite a bit beneath su-ae's star level. i've barely seen him act, but from what i have seen, he can hardly be considered lead material yet.

what makes it even stranger for me is that lee soo-hyuk is playing the supporting male role. in my mind, lee soo-hyuk > kim young-kwang. although even lee soo-hyuk in a lead role is a BIT stretching it, as much as i like him.

Yay! Excited to see Su Ae in something new and fun, Mask was really dark and she was great in it but, she is so cute in lighter stuff. I like the cast, I wish Jihoon was the main lead but ill settle for a cameo , he is so lovable

You had me at Su Ae. There should be a drama of twenty hours of Su Ae's face alone. As a tribute to this amazing actress. Fanboying, I know.

Kim Jihoon why are you in this show that I wasn't planning on watching because I have no interest whatsoever in either of the two leads? Whyyyyy.

Oh right, your character is backstory, so you'll be only in the first or first and second episodes. For the sake of your career I sincerely wish you had a bigger part, but for me I'm happy I won't have to watch too much of this.

I thought he will just play supporting roles, probably he will only cameo in first two episodes. SO that's good then. Playing supporting role to someone like Kim Young Kwang is unacceptable.

Insert Kim Jong Kook cameo here for Soo Ae. :)

Ahhhh! Kim Young Kwang, Lee Soo Hyuk, Jo Boa. I'm sooooo excited!

And the storyline sounds fun especially with this writers history. I'm not ready for MDBC to end but this is going to be fun.

It seems like almost noone in South Korea or abroad is looking forward to the male lead. I'm watching for Kim Ji Hoon and Lee Soo Hyuk only. I love them both and I wish they were male leads in their own dramas. It's been way too long for KJH in particular :(

Me too. I wish they were the male leads, and the Kim Young-kwang was no where near this production.

I wish they switch the male lead to Lee Soo Hyuk. KYK as second lead should be bearable at the very least.
And oh Kim Ji Hoon!!! Long time no see... I always love his cute and dorky Oh Jin Rak in FBND.

Kyaaah! I'll surely 100% watch this for Soo Ae..
I miss her doing romcom after 9 Ends and 2 Outs. I've watched Love Letter, A Thousand Days Promise, Athena, Yawang and Mask and I'm happy to see her in another different and lighter role :)

Did I read it right?. Yes! This is probably the second time I would be able to see Soo Ae in a not so serious drama. And not SBS at that...Good thing...

I'm sorry if you have misunderstood me. I didn't mean that I don't like SBS. It's just that Soo Ae's former dramas (I believe the last 4 of them) all came from SBS but she never got the awards that she truly deserve during the station's year-end ceremonies.

I'm gonna give it a try. I've been in the mood for new rom-coms lately, and since the second half of Cinderella and Four Knights has had me rolling my eyes so much I'm afraid they're gonna fall out of their sockets any day now, maybe this combined with Shopping King Louis will be enough to help me get over the disappointment. Fingers crossed.

Soo Ae is so pretty and her dimples are cute. She's cute and has this kinda softy looking.

I will watch her for sure since the lady has very good chemistry with everyone. In fact, she always choose the very fresh story of drama.

I think I'm the only one here who kinda fine with Kim Youngkwang. He's not that bad, I prefer him over Sung Joon anytime. Well, Soohyuk is not any better than him either. Both of them kinda on the same level.

You are not alone. I am fine with KYK as the lead and I don´t get the hate he is getting. Also he is much better actor that Lee Soo hyuk in my opinion but maybe SooHyuk is better looking that is why people would rather see him as a lead

Idk how to say better or not. I'm not good at picking up on the complaints people have against them. I can tell when I really like someone's acting or am moved by it. But that's my limit. I didn't even know KYK was hated, as an actor not person, until recently.

Sung Joon is the White Christmas/model-actor I've seen the most times. I always look forward to projects with him. I don't pick up on that stiffness. I can feel his emotions with him.
Lee Soo Hyuk brings real personality to his characters. Maybe not on the level of Lee Jong Suk. But I always believe he's a new person. WC & What's Up characters for him was my life for a bit.
Kim Young Kwang gives me what I want most of the time. His mom was extremely annoying in Pinocchio. I loved him in Plus 9 and Can We Get Married? Though, he wasn't very memorable in Love Rain, I don't think anyone would have been. Didn't watch D-Day.
Kim Woo Bin was my acting bias for a while. So I don't have much bad to say about him, kekeke.
I would have said Ahn Jae Hyun was my least favorite until C&4K. Not because he was bad but because I'd only seen him in Stars and Surrounded so he hadn't proved himself to me.
Now I'm good with any model-actor casting as long as the role suits them.

I'd say KYK makes sense for this role before Sung Joon & LSH. But that might be my bias of what I want to see from them. I want to see KYK win me over as an annoying character. I want Sung Joon to find fun roles. I want LSH to not be a typical annoying second male lead and show me the human side. And overall, I trust them to do that.

Totally agree. Acting skill of Lee Soo Hyuk so lack even she act so many movies & dramas. And he not handsome at all (he did cosmetic surgery?).
Kim Young Kwang acting just 'okay' in D-Day. But I don't like his herstyle (and they filming a scene the female lead told that 'oh! six pack' but he don't have six pack at that time ><).
But Kim Ji Hoon is better Kim Young Kwang, but he don't fits the lead roles so much because he not so tall.

Agree though, the only drama where i think
Lee soo hyuk does decent.is Scholar who walks the night, horror stories, and shark. He is so bad in lucky romance is.kind erase his improvement in his previous drama

I don't get the hates some actors get. With good director and good script, no matter how bad the actor, they could improve.

And talking about Soo Ae, I just think this lady knows how to choose interesting project. The Mask was the very beginning of drama that got double digits last year. And remember that public didn't like her co=star in Mask before too. So, I believe she has the 'magic' that can make people love her works.
