Three’s a crowd in SBS rom-com Jealousy Incarnate

Jealousy is one thing that looks great on Jo Jung-seok (Oh My Ghostess), unlike his misguided attempt at a mustache. As if a jealous Jo Jung-seok and the famous Gongvley charm wasn’t enough incentive to get us to tune in, SBS has just released a new teaser, beginning the countdown till the first broadcast of its upcoming Wednesday-Thursday drama, Jealousy Incarnate.
Jealousy Incarnate is a bright, refreshing rom-com drama that’s about a romance that unfolds at a broadcasting station. Jo Jung-seok could definitely attest to the fact that sometimes, three’s a crowd. In the new teaser, he third-wheels hard, and looks disgusted by the blatant flirting between the object of his affections and his rival in love.
Jo Jung-seok is a successful macho-man reporter, who eventually realizes his feelings for the network’s resident one-sided love expert and weathercaster, played by Gong Hyo-jin (The Producers). Their love story is complicated by Go Kyung-pyo (Answer Me 1988), a third-generation chaebol who helps ignite the flames of jealousy in Jo Jung-seok’s heart.
He’s not the only one feeling the effects of the green-eyed monster though. According to newly released stills, there’s also a middle-aged love triangle between two beautiful career women, Lee Mi-sook (Rosy Lovers) and Park Ji-young (Tears of Heaven), and one lucky man, Lee Sung-jae (Mirror of the Witch).
Here, Lee Mi-sook plays a reporter-turned-anchorwoman and Park Ji-young plays the department head at the station. They’ve always had the same taste in clothes, style, and even men. So it’s no surprise when they both fall for restaurant owner and head chef Lee Sung-jae. I don’t know if he’s being clueless or crafty when he draws them in for a group hug in the teaser.
But by far, the best scene in my opinion is Jo Jung-seok’s pitiful and awkward head-slide with the red umbrella that only covers Gong Hyo-jin and Go Kyung-pyo in the midst of a sudden rainstorm. Actually, on second thought that may have to go to Jo Jung-seok’s Michael Jackson-esque street dance performance. Get ready to experience record-breaking highs and lows of romantic chemistry and envy.
SBS’s Jealousy Incarnate will air its first episode on August 24.

Uri Go Kyung Pyo! I hope his hair grows out during the show. But I'm cheering for JJS. Loving the supporting cast.

And considering this was the drama KBS tried to smear Gong Hyo-jin over, I hope it gets higher ratings than whatever's airing in the same time slot at KBS.

Higher ratings is fine. But I hope it doesn't destroy On the Way to the Airport. That drama has some oppa/ahjussi and eonnie/ahjumma I like. *that awkward 10-15 gap, idk what to call them*
But JI will have a 3 week lead so they can secure their audience, hopefully. I'm watching all 3 channels that timeslot. So glad I don't have to choose.

For real though. There are a lot of hyped dramas, some airing and some not. Part of the airing ones are doing well. And the ones that haven't come yet have huge cast.
I was getting frustrated with comments asking for coverage on JI when previous post makes it obvious our head beanies are excited as well. As you said, drama overload. I knew it would get covered as it got closer.
I'm so excited. Haven't watched the trailer yet but I added it to my Twee. 10 days left, and I'll see the countdown everyday!

Hmm...I don't know if I'm considered as one of those "complainers" since I was wondering about the lack of recent coverage as well. And I didn't see that many people complaining about it actually and think it's not too much to ask about its whereabouts when every single trailer/teaser and character poster of Scarlett Heart or Moonlight got its own article. (Not trying to bash the hype or anything as I'm also looking forward to them). But I'm not here to start a fight and am happy we get some news at last. ?

Wondering about news is not complaining. :) Maybe Purple Owl was referring to those comments that demand that a certain news be posted. People forget that DB is a blog. A blog that updates frequently and talks a lot about shows, but still a blog nonetheless. (As opposed to, say, Han Cinema?)

As @mary said, I was referring to the demands. Imo, wondering about coverage and demanding a certain post are two different things. It's a blog that is being faithfully maintained out of the kindness of real people's hearts. They have things to take care of. It makes sense that the more hyped shows would get coverage to foster a place for beanies to discuss. The effort = the result. There's many beanies who blog about the dramas that fall through. That would be more positive to me.
SH and Moonlight are getting a lot of articles. But the increase of news articles since the last round of minion additions is clear. Because I am excited for all of these shows, I understand the desire for ALL the news. I wouldn't mind living at DB reading the updates. It was simply getting tiring when it felt like every other post, beanies were asking for something else, i.e. JI. *maybe my hindsight exaggerated it but the comments felt often* It was making me less enthused about Jealousy Incarnate because naming the drama in specific felt like a versus thing and the beginning of arguing. Which I never do well with because I'm on both teams, lol.
It is good to see the shows I'm interested in, have beanie fans because the discussion will be fun. And we have so many potentially great dramas this season to discuss. I'm glad I delurked this year ?

Same. Watched FBND in March 2014 and he was my darkhorse. Then Nae-il's Cantabile, Warm and Cozy, R88 kept making me love him more. So happy and proud to see him second leading rather than supporting or cameo.
GKP/KSG were so great. Especially that dinner towards the end where they were all lovey-dovey ?

She really has a gift for pulling off clothes, I've yet to see a drama in which she doesn't look amazing - and that includes her early-2000s ones with the cringeworthy outdated trends.
I haven't even seen her in motion yet and already I want that baseball tee and that red dress for myself. And that pussy-bow blouse, if only I had the figure to work it :(

I hate love triangles but I trust Gong Hyo-jun ––– I always find her stuff watchable, and often I love it to bits. So I'm excited for whatever is going to come our way!
And Jo Jung-seok and Go Kyung-pyo are a nice bonus to boot.

Yeah, Gong Hyo-jin really has a great eye for dramas- she's not done a single bad one in the last, idk, 15 years? Flawed, yes, but bad, no. So I trust this one will turn out watchable too.

I do wish she would stretch herself beyond love triangles and the put down girl who gets the boy roles. Some of her earlier work shows girl has range. But yeah given GHJ and the rest of the cast, all of whom I like a lot, going to be watching JI.

Unfortunately the number of dramas without love triangles is sparse. I think if Kdrama started doing stories without love triangles more often, GHJ would happily do them – and she has (It's Okay It's Love doesn't have a love triangle!).

The music in the first trailer KILLED ME oh man now I'm just imagining an OST solely made up of classical music pieces, like Rachmaninoff piano concerto no. 2 for some jealous moody angst, the opening of Mozart's Requiem Mass for sad jealous angst, and hall of the mountain king for the super jealous moment the chara just SNAPS and goes on a chaotic follow-them-on-the-date-and-cause-chaos spree... X'D jealousy and classical music just go well together man
(also just fit o fortuna there somewhere because it's spine-chilling and necessary. lashing out at the universe jealous angst track?)

I guess we don't have to understand dramaland's age concepts. We have people in their late 20s playing high schoolers, 30+ year olds as college students, sometimes their looks/behavior match the age of their role, sometimes it's just totally off.
Well at least GKP could somehow pass off as someone in their early 30s? (36...not so sure yet) But for example 24 year old KSG is supposed to be 35 in Second to Last Love which is extremely far-fetched. ?

This looks so good! And Gong Hyo Jin looks practically glowing. What did she eat??? Give me the exact grocery list. Jo Jung Seok is also solid with the comedic timing and I can't wait to see him back at it. So happy for all his success!
I actually had no idea about Go Kyung Pyo was going to be in this until some days ago when I watched the teaser trailer. That haircut looks great on him and he is looking sharp. It's nice to see him not play a bumbling type of character in a drama, lol. I guess Reply helped his image.
Anyway, I quite like a good love triangle from time to time and the pair portrayed here seem so fun.

dang, i haven't seen lee mi-sook in ages! maybe she just hasn't been in any of the dramas i've been watching?
honestly, the show doesn't sound that appealing but i love gong hyo-jin and jo jung-seok... only thing is, i actually dislike go kyung-pyo enough to avoid the show altogether. something about him and his overall vibe always ends up rubbing me the wrong way. didn't like him at all in youth over flowers. i don't know. he's just one of those actors for me.

I'm not usually one for slapstick humour, but that scene where Jo Jung Seok slammed against the wall had me laughing out loud. Ok show, you got me interested so let's see what you've got installed.
