Joo-won, Kim Kang-woo, Kim Sang-joong work Overtime fighting aliens
by girlfriday
Alien invasion isn’t really the first thing that came to mind when I heard that Joo-won (Yong-pal) was signing on to a movie called Overtime. I was picturing an overworked salaryman with a scary boss, not a secret rebel army out to take back the country from evil alien invaders. But that’s the premise of the new sci-fi action blockbuster film, which has confirmed Joo-won, Kim Kang-woo (Goodbye Mr. Black) and Kim Sang-joong (Jingbirok) to star.
The new project will be the feature film debut of director Kim Gun, of award-winning short film Don’t Stop. In this dystopian world, Korea has been taken over by alien creatures, and a human rebellion ignites a war against the invaders. The fight will be led by three special forces operatives spanning two timelines, a la Signal (minus the walkie-talkie transmissions).
Kim Sang-joong is a veteran agent featured heavily in the past timeline, and Joo-won is the rookie agent in the present timeline. Kim Kang-woo is the one who connects them, as the hoobae agent to Kim Sang-joong, and the present-day sunbae to Joo-won. Kim’s character is described as a rule-following stick-in-the-mud type, which will probably be a cakewalk for him after being so eeeevil in Goodbye Mr. Black.
That’s three very intense actors, one for every generation, so I think they’ve covered their bases in terms of audience draw. I can picture the three of them talking very seriously about Acting and geeking out about it together, in between the shooting of alien creatures, of course. Now let’s just hope that the CG aliens live up to the human cast.
Overtime has already begun shooting, and is planning for a release later this year.

sorry, I am still on the 38pu wavelength and my first thought was: if we left an alien invasion for Jung Do to deal with, he´d con them out of Earth saying there is a clearance sale on Jupiter or something.
I am a little allergic to alien invasion movies though. Hollywood ruined all of them for me.

Hahahahaha omg you hella cracked me up! I can totally imagine Seo in guk's face and his lovely con-ish smile while doing what he does best- disguising as Jung do and conning our heart with his performance!

He'd even offer them a discount trip on the spaceship they used to get here in the first place, too.

Oh my! Glad I'm not the only one who totally finds bad-daddy Kim Sang Joong sexy ahjussi hot! He too was way more attractive for me in City Hunter than Lee Min Ho was. lol
He's first on my list. The other hot ahjussis are Yoo Ji Tae and Park Sung Woong ^^

Yoo Ji-tae also falls into the ahjussi category? I still consider him as a hot oppa... Dang, I feel old now. ? (But ok, I also saw people calling KRW an ahjussi ;-p )

Since I'm an ajumma, the only person I would consider an ajussi is Kim Sang Joong.

I wouldn't call KRW an Ahjussi, he's too young (35 yrs old). Personally I consider them so when they're married and above 40-ish. That may just be me though, and I may be wrong. Lol

He is just so charismatic that even the hottie Lee Min Ho cannot beat him LOL. I don't know I'm not even reaching 30 yet but always fangirling the ahjusshi type. Or oppa in 30s.

I was too scared of Bad Daddy, so I couldnt fangirl at all. His whole presence was scary. No wonder most people still call him Bad Daddy. It is something you can never erase from your mind.

Usually, SF movies rely heavily on the special effect and not so much on the actors. But here they cast 3 very strong actors for the movie. I hope it's going to be good.
