Entourage scores late-night timeslot, to premiere in November

Finally, Entourage is on the schedule! The K-drama remake of HBO’s hit has been in the works for seemingly ages, and was supposedly going to be on the air this year, only the year kept passing by and schedules got booked and Entourage wasn’t on any of them. But now it’s official, and Entourage has scored tvN’s newest late-night timeslot: Fridays and Saturdays, post-Cinderella and the Four Knights.

It’s a brand-new drama hour for tvN, which already had one Friday-Saturday drama spot earlier in the evening, at 8:30 p.m., which was home to hits like Signal, Misaeng, Answer Me 1988, and The Good Wife. That’s followed by variety hour (currently Three Meals a Day), and then the second drama offering starts at 11 p.m.

A rep with tvN explained that this later hour would differentiate itself from the earlier one, and would allow for more experimental, fresh, edgy programming. I’m pretty sure none of those words apply to Cinderella and the Four Knights — it’s cute and fun, but pretty familiar and safe — but I do expect that Entourage will feature racier content, since that was the whole slant of the HBO original: slick, edgy, sexy. As much as I love that Korean dramas have a flavor that’s entirely different from Hollywood, I don’t know that Entourage would be Entourage without all the posturing, swearing, sex, and the free-talking, free-wheeling feel. I’m very curious to see how the Korean industry translates that vibe.

The drama centers around a tight-knit group of four childhood friends, one of whom (Seo Kang-joon) has made it as a movie star. His buddies come along for the wild ride of fame and fortune, despite being a pack of lovable losers, each with their own set of quirks, and they navigate the world of entertainment and celebrity with a lot of comedy, swagger, and sometimes even some heart. Among the group are the level-headed manager (Park Jung-min), the has-been who’s no longer recognized (Lee Kwang-soo), and the upbeat, carefree Lee Dong-hwi. Not to mention the power agent (Jo Jin-woong), who pretty much always stole the show in the original. I’m pretty sure Jo Jin-woong is up for a little scene-stealing, yes?

Entourage began filming in June, and aims to be fully pre-produced. It premieres on November 4.

Damn, Korea is killing it with all these remakes! The Good Wife, Second to Last Love, and now Entourage? What's next?

They are on it. NEW Entertainment announced in a couple of months ago, and apparently it will have multiple seasons if it's successful.
You remember, like The Three Musketeers was meant to have XD

Mine was more like, ah ha Ha HA HEEEEEEEEEEE. Very nasal on the HEEEEEEEEEEEE.

After four episodes, it's becoming pretty apparent why Cinderella had such a hard time finding a broadcaster ?

Okay so maybe this is old news but I nearly freaked out! I was watching a Japanese movie the other day and I thought for sure Seo Kang Joon was in it but then I remembered from an episode of Roomate that he pretty much knows zero Japanese.

It was his freakin doppelgänger!

I don't really see it. It's more obvious if you compare feature-to-feature (especially the eyes), but on the face as a whole, it never crossed my mind they look alike. Then again, I'm in that apparently very small minority that doesn't see the much talked about resemblance between Park So Dam and Kim Go Eun either.

Yes, feature by feature you can see more of a resemblance.
PSG and KGE have similar features but a different face shape. They both give off an innocent vibe as well.

Sakaguchi is a quite a bit taller I think, but I'm sticking with they look alike to me :)

At the first picture I was like "why are there two pics of SKJ?"

And then I remembered the article I was on. They look very much alike when next to each other but all the individual pictures had me seeing the cute Japanese actor as his own person.

Thanks for the info. I haven't loved SKJ the same since CSL. Maybe it's time to replace him ?

FINALLY! Finally some update about this drama. I really can't wait to see what they have in store. Now,if only we'd get some news about that Park Hae Jin drama,Man2Man or something,it'd be great. Seriously,why is nothing coming out yet? Not even the second(or is first?) male lead's casting offer has been announced. Right now.he's a bodyguard with nobody to protect. MOVE IT PEOPLE! *calms down* I'd be nice if we heard something,anything.

You know what, one of the reasons I watch C4K is that there's always an Entourage's short teaser played after a C4K ep ends. So far, there's only the actors' voices in the teaser. But I believe there'll be more.

By the way, I still love you, Jung Il Woo.

Maybe if Entourage will be successful tvn will keep this timeslot and experiment more "edgy" shows. I really don't expect (nor need) a korean hbo but something a little edgier would be totally awsome. It's time to be a little more "realistic", don't you think?

It would have been wise for them to go earlier or January because November to January I believe there will be another Drama syndrome with Legend of the blue sea. Words has it that they are spending big time on LOTBS

I'm hoping that the ratings for this drama will be good. At this late night time slot, it might be challenging getting decent ratings, though all hope is not lost. Cinderella, while not really breaking new ground is holding steady at the 1% - 3% mark. However, I'm hoping for more for my dear Seo Kang joon, if for nothing else but to get over the (undeservedly, I feel) negative rap he got from the drama which I shall not name.
