Drama viewership ratings for the week of May 2-8, 2016

We’re looking at the drama landscape post-Descended From the Sun now, and it’s still interesting to see how the shows are evening out on the Wednesday-Thursday slots now that they don’t have such an impossible competitor. Now that there’s no longer one giant show to dominate them all, numbers are looking pretty normal throughout the week—there’s tight competition to be sure, but breaking double digits is back to being the gold standard.

Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho is still in first place in its slot, though not by much—Jackpot and Monster are catching up, and neither seem too far from breaking that coveted 10% mark. Over on cable, Oh Hae-young Again took over the slot left by Pied Piper, and is already doing better than its predecessor, though not by huge leaps and bounds.

Ratings in the middle of the week have seen an overall improvement, with Goodbye Mr. Black narrowly edging its way on top after weeks spent below 5%. The embattled Master—God of Noodle is having to fight for every scrap it gets, but it can’t be good that we’re seeing a drop in numbers with every consecutive episode. Otherwise, both weekend shows on JTBC and tvN saw their finales this week, and no big surprises there. Memory and Ms. Temper and Nam Jung-ki were both solid shows, so now it’ll be interesting to see whether the next crop of cable shows will bring in more impressive figures.

Returned back to watching American TV and I was still bored till I started watching MR. ROBOT. I can't believe I waited this long to watch, such a good show!!!

The best Wednesday, Thursday drama is Master of Noodles, i am watching GMB but i find the Noodles more attracting, i think when Lucky Romance starts the rating will drop more, but who cares about rating when i am enjoying the drama
Mrs. Temper ending was so cute, it's weird that the last episode rating is less then ep15 it should be the opposite

About Master God of Noodles. I swear that drama is my new crack! I am watching all three Wednesday and Thursday dramas at the moment and of all of them, I am most impressed by Master God of Noodles. I wish the ratings were higher, but I guess the dark subject matter and lack of idols make a lot of people lose interest in the drama.

I remember Flower in Prison had better numbers last week (episode 1&2). I reaaaaally wanna watch it because of the PD and Go Soo but I reaaaaally don't want to watch Jin Se Yeon ever again. Can any beanie tell me if the drama's any good?

The drama is good so far. If you enjoyed Dong Yi you might be enjoying this too.

The young version of Ok Nyeo is really good, and I was greedy to have her stay at least up to epi 10.But I think JSY will appear tonight. I am worried JSY cannot be as good as the young one,not that I am expected her to be so good.

If I need one reason to watch this because of Go Soo and strong supporting casts. JSY alone will never draw our attention.

Ah I see, so Jin Se Yeon is yet to make an appearance. I am a fan of this PD that is why I was sooo looking forward to his next drama. Why it has to be with Jin Se Yeon. Sigh.

I would be okay if she's not the star of the drama (see: Gaksital) but she is the main character here, isn't she? Not Go Soo. Sigh sigh sigh.

I will wait for viewers' reactions when she finally appears in the drama. Let's hope she improves. Thank you for your reply :)

Lets think the "flower" is Go Soo instead. lol.

Yes, this is female centric drama and JSY ought the be the centre of the story. If it is still not a tiny improvement from her, this drama will be easily stole from her by other characters.

I am saying goodbye to Lovely team ??? sobss. I will miss Cool Idiot (Ms Temper), Lovely team, Nam Jung Ki's family and all casts. One of good drama that enjoyable to watch from beginning until the end. Will defitely rewatch and put in my recommendation list ☺☺☺❤❤

I hope Lee Yo Won will not take a long break before her next drama. Can I have her pairing with Yeon Jeong Hun. They have a great chemistry even YJH only have a less screentime.

Currently watching Master -God of Noodle and I love it so far. Flower in Prison is enjoyable too, I wish when Jin Seo Yeon appear, she will at least have a tiny improvement. The child actress is so good. I hope JSY will not ruin her character.

Enjoying god of noodles so far ...... Its kinda thrilling to watch ....sometimes it feels spooky ..... It sends chills down the spine that's y I love it. Its very few times I'm afraid of the villain & in this show so far I definitely am.

On the other side monster had such a good start up, the first three ep were awesome but now I think it isn't living up to its title. Though it hadn't lost my interest to the point of dropping, may be I'm missing the young Guk cheol, I forgot his name but thumps up to his acting

I'm sad Ms. Temper and Nam Jung Ki ends this week. This is the only drama that I look forward these days after DOTS and CBM ended. Now I only watch Entertainer just for Ji Sung and the male actors. Hyeri just doesn't do anything for me.

Anyone, if you want real workplace drama and almost no romance and a cast you can trust, you can watch Ms. Temper and Nam Jung Ki. Funny at times, but mostly being retrospective and awesome all around!

So happy that Oh Hae Young Again increased almost a full percentage point from episode 1 to 2! It really is an entertaining drama, and that's all I'm asking for at this point. After CITT, with the exception of Page Turner I have been dropping dramas left to right (CBA, GMB, Entertainer...) so I hope Oh Hae Young Again stays entertaining throughout. It would be great if it also turned out to be a super high-quality drama but again, at this point I just want to be laughing when watching a drama again and OHYA is doing that for me!

Oh man, I really need God of Noodles' ratings to improve. It's the only drama I'm following and I'm so scared they'll axe it if it doesn't do any better. I wish they'd stuck with their previous title, I think the current one confused everyone on what the drama would be about and lost potential viewers because of it.

I agree. The name of the drama is supposed to make you want to watch it, but MASTER: GOD OF NOODLES? That's the worst name you can ever think of.

Some cool drama named in my opinion:
- City Hunter
- Kill me, heal me (VERY CLEVER name)
- Moon embracing the sun
- Descendants of the sun
- Goblin

etc. Those names just scream success even though it might not be. They just stick to your mind .

I wouldn't skip the show just because of that unless romance is the only reason you (universal you, not you personally) watch kdrama. It's true the romance isn't heavily emphasized in this show, but it's a great underdog workplace drama and even though I was initially disappointed that the romance wasn't getting pushed more, in the end I was still really satisfied with the show over all--including in the romance department.

Surprised God Of Noodles keeps decreasing, though I kinda understand why. Despite recognizing that it is objectively well done, and being engaged by it when I watch, it doesn't having that IT factor that makes me feel "pulled in" by the story.

Hope Oh Hae Young Again continues to increase, I'm loving this little drama so far :D

Also, when do Lucky Romance and Dear My Friends finally start?

Such a nonsense to say that script is more important to catch viewers bla bla bla. In fact, those K-viewers still only want popular actors first lol

0

reply

Required fields are marked *

Actually there's no such thing like that. Nothing more important than other. Story line, Directing, BGM, Actors, and the other aspect must be good to catch viewers. The actors here shouldn't be popular but he/she must be good to portrayed his/her drama character. For example, the Reply series, most of the main actors got popular after they finish the reply drama (before that they aren't as popular as before they did the drama). SO your statement was not a FACT but only your opinion.

Some viewer just want to watch dramas where idol in there, romance pilot. I really hate K-viewers keep complain that nothing to watch. Have a lot of dramas to watch:
- 'Ms. Temper' have plot same genres as 'Misaeng': human, work, office
- 'Dear My Friends' with strong cameos, strong cast and strong plot.
- 'Five Children', 'Oh Hae Young Again': if you like rom-com
- 'Master: God of Revende' : not logic but stills okay to watch if you love black-drama
...

idol always gets criticize when they just get cast, not to mention when they act just normal,

Neighborhood Lawyer is starting to grate on me. I wasn't expecting it to go so makjang. It always bugs me when I watch legal dramas because I don't know if the Korean legal system is really that full of holes, or if it's just a TV thing.

On the flip side Monster has gotten much better as Kang Ji Hwan and Claudia Kim have both apparently decided they're remaking My Girlfriend is an Agent/Level 7 Civil Servant. (He was in the movie version; she was in the Joo Won TV show version playing it straight as the enemy spy). Between them mugging, and Ji Hwan flirting, er I mean having a frenemy bromance with Park Ki Woong, it's a lot more entertaining now. Really it's a hot mess and I can't believe they're in for 50 episodes so I guess they're going to just have a good time, dammit.

I noticed Five Kids ratings have slipped a little with the introduction of more weekend competition. It's still really good though and some of the many plots hinging around people not knowing who's who have started to come together. Our leads finally found out their kids all know each other and LOOOOVEE each other like BFFS.

I was worrying about Five Kids' rating too, but it seems it recovered on Sunday.

It's getting really interesting now with all three siblings' plot (and Tae-Min/Jin-Joo) coming to the confrontation, so I hope the ratings improve with that.

I am just dyyyyyying for the younger sister Lee Yun Tae to finally blurt "I'm dating Kim Sang Min" out and watch the epic bomb drop. I mean, it was bad enough when he walked past the family on the way to return dishes, but to find out she snagged the hunk? It'll take out the entire Lee family in one shot.

Of course that's the thing about this show, there's about 4 or 5 nuclear bombs loaded and ready to go and it's a waiting game to see when they're going to drop.
