The noodle revenge begins in Master–God of Noodle
by javabeans
Finally, some noodles for the Noodle God! Yes, technically I might have caught a glimpse of noodle in the previous teasers, but only just barely, and at least in this latest teaser we get noodles being made, being eaten, and being the cause of revenge.
The teaser begins with our hero (Chun Jung-myung) telling us that his father was crazy about noodles, as we see him making them. Dad opens his door to a bedraggled young man (Baro) shivering in the cold, who’s labeled a man who’s crazy about ambition. He’s the one who kills our noodle-maker (previous descriptions explain that he stole a fate to escape his own miserable one) and thus becomes our hero’s enemy, growing up to become Jo Jae-hyun in adulthood, who builds up a small restaurant into a large-scale success.
This begins our hero’s journey to avenge his father’s murder, and while I still don’t understand why noodles are the vehicle for that, I do appreciate that the show looks well-shot and slickly produced. I also appreciate the beautiful posters, which feature artwork we’ve already seen in the earlier teasers and give a nod to the story’s origin as a comic. The one at the top of the page features the five actors in our main cast: We have Lee Sang-yub and Jung Yumi as our hero’s childhood friends (and in the latter case, his love interest), with Chun Jung-myung in the center, his enemy Jo Jae-hyun to his right, and Gong Seung-yeon to the far right.
Master–God of Noodle premieres next Wednesday, April 27, on KBS in the post-Descended From the Sun timeslot. Let the carbo-loading begin!

I thinks it's rather clearly that's jung yumi- the female lead. All news said about that. And I don't see GSY on photo shooting, and very few information about her on teaser, while filming...

there were some press releases indicating that this is GSY's first drama as a lead. the only thing is that whether it meant as a "general lead" (since all 5 on the posters are considered the lead) or the main female lead. but, I was led to believe that GSY was casted to be the main (romantic interest) female lead opposite CJM. perhaps that changed along the way.

At the beginings, I also confused about 1st female lead, but after that I think many reports also confused too because GSY's character is main in comics and JYM's is not in comics. Now I'm confident that JYM is 1st female lead, maybe GSY is 2nd lead. Some drama web as asianwiki, they also give name GSY after CJM, but some days ago, they also change different, that is seriated CJM, JJH, JYM... I don't know GSY before 6FD but I follow JYM for a long time. After Rooftop Princess, she always 1st female lead of her dramas, except for 6FD - a big drama.
Maybe we should wait for the day drama is aired to clear more.

I want to watch this really bad, I just don't fancy the female lead. She's so much better as a female villain. Much like Yu In Young. We all have our calling...well, will defo give this a try.

I really wonder why KBS didn't have KWB and Suzy's drama with the ten different names premiere directly after DOTS' last special episode. They could have potentially kept a lot of those viewers who would have tuned into KBS because of watching DOTS week after week or out of sheer habit.
It's usually what a lot of overseas broadcasters do. Premiere a new show or new season in a time slot that follows a ratings hit to maximize potential viewership.

Uncontrollably Fond is currently in post-production and likewise, KBS2 plans to simulcast the drama in both Korea and China. Due to time constraint, it effectively needs a filler drama to air before it. Plus, if you examine Korean drama history in terms of ratings, drama viewer retention is not totally applicable in Korean TV because Korean viewers tend to watch a drama based on cast, production, storyline, hype, promotions, critical reviews, and not exactly time slot. Though it is true that it may be a factor (e.g., best example would be SBS's 2013 Wed-Thurs dramas that dominated with consistently high viewership ratings - That Winter, The Wind Blows, I Can Hear Your Voice, Master's Sun, The Heirs, My Love From The Stars), in most cases, Korean viewers take each drama as independent of each other.

I though the noodle is pun or symbolism in the drama. Anyway I'll watch it since the premise look good.
Even if the title look weird, it's like cooking show title, not a revenge story,

What I like about Chun Jung Myung, he takes a new character in each drama. I am curious what is it going to be this time. Definitely looking foward to this one.

Looks like Chun Jung Myung is back in the same classic korean villa complex where they filmed Cinderella. Hopefully this doesn't tank like that one...

I know this has been brought up before, but the title still makes me laugh every time. "God of Noodle" ah yes, God of the Noodle. Reminds me of the other title we recently heard about... was it "How are you Bread"? I suppose God of Noodle makes a bit more sense, but like, am I missing something in translation in this one or?

I still can't take the title seriously and so far the premise isn't that exciting for me.
But gah, i love all the cast here. After Punch and this drama, i probably will ship Jo Jae Hyun and noodles for real. That ship is sailing for real \m/

I'm going to be honest here, I'm not really interested in this drama. I just want to watch it so I can help make noodle puns in the comments.
