Name That Drama: Karaoke clips and cookie-cutter sets

- A tale of two sisters
Hey Beanies! There’s a drama I’ve been searching for since forever. I only saw bits and pieces of the childhood portion, and would love to finish it if possible.
All I remember is that there were two sisters. There’s one scene in particular where the younger sister got lost because she was out buying a gift for her dad. I think it was his birthday. Anyway, she cleaned shoes and used money from her piggy bank to buy it.
Another scene I remember was of the older sister giving the younger sister a ring or a necklace in the middle of the market. Sorry it’s not much, but it’s all I can remember. I really want to know what this drama is, it’s killing me! Thanks!
- Must’ve been a long song
Hello, fellow Beanies! I came across a short clip that was played while I was singing karaoke (it was the background video) and I am dying to know what it is!
I am not sure whether it is from a movie, drama, or even part of a music video (but it didn’t seem like it). But what I did recognize was Kim Min-jung playing the lead. It isn’t recent, based on the quality/fashion, so it should be sometime before 2008, although that is just a guess.
Kim Min-jung played a high school student who was being harassed or picked on by a group of high school boys on the street, and the male lead happened to be there to witness it. The male lead, who didn’t seem to be a high school student, helped Kim Min-jung and fought off the boys. She falls in love with that guy at first sight, and watches him walk away. However, as he walks away, another girl comes along and links arms with him. Seeing this, Kim Min-jung is discouraged.
Sometime later, Kim Min-jung spots the male lead on the other side of the road and purposefully nudges/bumps into the same group of boys who initially picked on her, and runs toward the male lead. The male lead fights them off, and Kim Min-jung follows him around.
They hang out a few times, but every time, the girl who was close to the male lead comes in and ruins the mood by being jealous of Kim Min-jung. Later on, I think the male lead finally recognizes his true feelings and buys a bunch of small flowers to confess(?) to Kim Min-jung and they see each other, only a few meters apart. They both smile at each other, and as he makes his way toward her, the jealous girl suddenly appears in front of him and takes the flowers while smiling and hugging him, thinking they were for her.
Kim Min-jung misunderstands and thinks that the flowers weren’t for her (although they were meant to be), and walks away, straight past the male lead and the jealous girl hugging him (he didn’t hug back). That’s all I saw up to, and I really really would like to watch the entire thing. Thanks! (And by the way, I didn’t recognize the male lead, but he was very handsome :D)
- After the party is the hotel lobby
So I saw this movie two or three years back about two leads working in the same hotel. The male lead was in a higher position than the woman, and always picked on her. Then one day, he suddenly asked her to date him and saw her as a possible marriage candidate.
They started dating, and the guy was stiff in the relationship throughout. Then he goes to Paris for work, or something like that. The girl also had a superstar friend who also had a crush on her. They were each others’ first love, I guess. I can’t seem to remember the name of the movie. Please help me!
- Fairly certain about the facial hair
So I’ve actually requested this a bit, and I’m sure by now you’re tired of all my emails, but someday I believe you will feature my request and I will finally have the answer I seek to what this drama is, because darn it, I am determined!
Okay, so I can’t remember the actors in this show, or else I would have figured it out myself, but I remember the plot exactly. And occasionally, Go Doo-shim was in it, but she’s been in a ton, and not all of them are listed online. And since I haven’t found the show yet, clearly I need something to jog my memory.
The show was a weekend drama for sure, because it had multiple families all intertwined with one another and those cookie cutter sets you see on all weekend dramas. The main character was a housewife who had a mother-in-law who didn’t appreciate her and was always rude to her, but who treated her son like gold. The synopsis said she was supposed to get divorced from her unappreciative (maybe cheating? I don’t remember) husband, and change her life around by becoming this singing cinderella. And she was supposed to fall in love with some producer or something and have her own radio show.
I remember that her best friend owned some kind of shop, and there’s one scene where the friend takes the main girl out to a concert and they have a crazy good time, and I think the main girl was called up to the stage. They were wearing bows on their heads that would light up.
I also remember the main girl meeting the guy she was supposed to fall in love with in a recording studio or music production company or something, but I don’t remember if it was their first meeting or if it was just one of those instances where he bumped into her. Also, I think the main guy had a goatee, or mustache, or facial hair, but my memory is faulty so don’t take my word for it. (I’m like eighty percent sure, though.) If anyone could help me find this show, I would be so grateful! Thanks!
- Cheating on a quiz
A friend of mine quizzed me on a drama and I can’t figure it out at all. She gave me a description and says it was aired in the early 2000s, and that it was a kdrama. Can you guys help me with it? Here’s the description:
The lead girl is a young and sincere middle school teacher who has little interest in money. She is also extremely warm-hearted and loves to help other people. When she helps carry an elderly man’s belongings from the train to another location, the elderly man is extremely thankful. This grandfather turns out to be the extremely rich owner of a well known conglomerate.
His grandson is a quick-tempered businessman who rivals his grandfather, but in an almost comical way. In an order to “tame” his favorite grandson, the grandfather agrees to give his entire fortune to the person who marries this lead girl, therefore forcing the grandson to meet the girl whom his grandfather chose. Although at first he and the girl don’t get along because of his extremely cute but bad temper, their arguments bring them closer together.
He starts to get jealous when the girl’s fellow teacher starts liking her too. Through the clever conditions that his grandfather makes, he starts a relationship he does not look forward to. However, what looked like a relationship that had a 99% chance of not working out turns out to be the “perfect” match, the 1% chance.
Okay, that’s the description above. Thanks in advance for your help!
- A common, but no less ideal, drama scenario
There’s a drama I have been looking for for a really long time that I watched, but don’t remember well.
I remember that it’s based around a girl living in a huge house full of guys. The first time they meet her, it’s raining with thunder and lightning. They see her knocking on the window, which scares all of them.
That’s all I can remember so I don’t know any way to find it. Can you help me?
- Chemistry and cosmetics and blackmail, oh my
Hi. This is the first Korean drama I’ve seen that got me hooked on everything else, so it has sentimental value. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to finish it, and I forgot the title. I’ve been looking for it ever since. Good thing there’s this feature.
The revolves around a hardworking girl who works in a cosmetic company. Her longtime boyfriend is a chemist who works for the same company. She started out at the bottom, but overcomes a lot of difficulties because she’s persistent. The young owner/director of the cosmetic company falls in love with her. She also somehow gets confidential information about a rival company, and the director of that company uses this to blackmail her chemist boyfriend to work for them instead.
Here’s a scene that might help: The girl kept a journal/planner where she wrote all her ideas about the company. She lost it, and it was found by the new owner/director who thought they were good ideas and used them.
- For those who like a challenge
I only watched this drama for a few episodes, but I would like to pick it back up. All I remember is that the mom abandoned her daughter and married into another family.
The daughter then falls in love with the stepson, and the grandmother of the daughter and her mother decide to hide the fact that she is their daughter. Confusing I know, but maybe this triggers something!
Thanks for playing, everyone — till next time!

I second that.
Kind of odd this was even a request, given that s/he knew the 99%/1% thing... Google could have dug that up with all those details remembered!

Lmao the description she gave is word for word the same synopsis that is on drama wiki (with the actors' names removed). If she typed it into Google she would have found it immediately.

Let's give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe this is a written description given to them by the friend? And s/he didn't realize it can just be Googled.
I just think if this was a legit request, the person probably wouldn't be happy with people calling them a troll when you don't even know if this is the case.

#4 has got to be I Am Legend, with Kim Jung-eun and Lee Joon-hyuk. I'm so embarrassed by his facial hair--good thing he went clean-shaved for City Hunter right after!

I Am Legend was awesome, even though the ending sort of fizzled out. But I think this description is more likely to refer to Hooray for Love which was a longer weekend drama.

I'm thinking #6 may be a jdrama called wallflower. It's about a horror girl, Sunakio, whose aunt asked her male borders to transform into a "true, girly lady". But I could be wrong. It's a live action. The Manga was pretty hysterical.

I love the manga, but the Japanese name of the manga might be the best part. It's called Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge, which means Perfect Girl (like the perfect Japanese beauty--elegant, graceful, long black hair, demure) Revolution, which, if you know Sunako, is super funny.
And yeah, the drama was pretty funny, even if the romance wasn't super satisfying. I think the focus was more comedy.

For #6. I haven't seen Wall Flower, but this could also be the Taiwanese drama Brown Sugar Macciato. It's about a bunch of highschool boys that get integrated into an all girls school. Then they have to stick up for themselves as the girls all try and make their life hell. It's pretty great. That scene is them moving into their dorm/house, and one of the girls attending the school becomes their maid. They don't realise she's coming so they all freak out. I don't watch many T Dramas, but it didn't take it's self to seriously and made me laugh. A LOT.

I think 7 is an old 1996 (97?) drama called 예감 ("Anticipation" in English... that's how my dad translated it at the time). The CEO is played by the same actor who was the male lead in "Lovers in Paris". If the drama you're thinking of has a scene where that guy is standing in the rain holding a bouquet of roses, and if the drama ends with the girl and her lover on a plane flying off into the sunset, then you and I are thinking of the same drama.
