Oh Snap! Lee Byung-heon likes the little things
by HeadsNo2
Taking his debonair persona for a spin, Lee Byung-heon seems a bit more at ease in this month’s colorful spread for High Cut, donning some interesting duds in the process. For once, I think the garish prints are a character choice—or maybe when you get to a certain star level, you can pretty much pull anything off.
American audiences might recognize him from the stateside films he’s starred in (G.I. Joe and its sequel, RED 2, and unfortunately also Terminator Genisys) as well as his recent appearance at the 88th Academy Awards, a stint which the actor described as being outright panic-inducing. Of all people, it was Al Pacino who helped talk him through his nerves, and apparently the two shared a meal together after the ceremony. Talk about an odd couple.

Some choose to stay because of kids, some choose to stay because they believe in second chance and some got no choice but to stay…
In my country, divorce come with strong stigma. Divorce women facing discrimination and insult, they got no choice but to stay with their husband… I hope it will change soon. Sometime that kinda make me afraid to get married resulting me now 30years old and still single.
Well…just sharing, maybe not related to LMJ case at all though.

I think she was around 30 when she married him. She wasn't exactly his high school sweetheart and he was very well established in K-ent. Why would she divorce him? She had a pretty good idea of his personality.
BTW,"scandals" like these are not even mentioned on western tabloids. K-ent never cease to amaze me.

@g.pap First of all understand the custom and the taboo of the country. Is it the same in all country?
As far as I know Korea still have bad stigma about divorce. They still look down to those who married for twice.
And I'm sharing the situation in my own country where divorce is not something common. Yes it happen in my country, women get blame when the husband cheat on her. People are blaming the women for "not taking a good care of husband". Divorce is not an option.
I believe you live somewhere where divorce is ok. Where people are open about it. You gotta understand not every country in this world as open to divorce as your country.

Don't kid yourself about western tabloids and gossip "news" shows. There are plenty and this story would surely get airtime. However, how big of a scandal it would become depends on the fans reactions. More reaction--more coverage until its all out of proportion. And bigger stars get more coverage. So sometimes its a ripple and sometimes its a wave of scandal. And anything involving a crime will always get covered.
The difference is in the US, for example, there is a much wider range of tolerance for all kinds of behavior good and bad because we have a much more culturally diverse population. Problem is we're swamped with this kind of information. You have to pick and choose which scandals to get invested in.

Yes I have nothing but respect for the courage and strength she displayed. The fact that she was pregnant when this happened made me feel even more sad for her. Yes it's indeed her choice to stay with her husband but you can't deny it's probably because of her unborn child as well. Nobody, given a choice, would want their child to be born with separated parents.

I'm not naive and I know that many people cheat, but for now, all he's guilty of is what he has admitted to - flirting.

On the other hand, this man right here clearly having affair outside his marriage, reading his text massages make me want to puke… Those girls were wrong to blackmail him about the massages he send. There's no victim in this case, Both sides were wrong. The real victim is his wife.
Well, in my opinion they both deserve the same treatment because this guy is not better than that other guy.

This is one of the reason why I comment about poor LMJ.. People can change, shouldn't we blame on the husband for not be able to keep his dick in his pants? When you get married you should throw away the bad habits and live the life for the better.

Nathan,
LMJ knew about her husband before she married him and chooses to stay with him. Her choice to put up with it. He has affairs.
PSH admitted to having sex with an unconscious and drunk woman. That sounds like rape to most women even if he wasn't charged.
Huge difference between the two men. One is a dog and the other is morally bankrupt.

March 19, 2016 at 11:07 AM
I usually laugh at personal attacks but it's obvious you have a serious issue here. Let's clarify things then...
Cheating on one's spouse is a serious matter but that's between the couple to sort things out(obviously!).
Cheating on one's spouse repeatedly is still a matter between the couple but whether the other person is willing to accept it or not becomes particularly serious.
Cheating on one's spouse when the other person has no choice but accept the "public humiliation" is a quite different story. If we're talking about a woman who's NOT too young and with previous dating/sex experiences this behavior indicates other motives. I don't know the case and, trust me, I don't want to know but when a woman in her 30s marries a 40-something successful man divorce is REALLY not an option.
And you're right, divorce is not a "stigma" in this part of the world, especially for very rich women who can afford to adopt at least 10 hangry children. On the other hand, younger women who marry older men happens everywhere, doesn't it?
PS Morally wrong doesn't say much on its own - convicting large majorities of population to poverty IS morally wrong and yet no one gets punished anywhere in the world. Legal System doesn't work that way though. We convict rapists, paedophiles, murderers or embezzlements but not cheaters (or wannabe cheaters for that matter)
Peace!!

March 19, 2016 at 11:46 AM
I don't know about you but I don't think any women or even men wants their spouse to cheat on them. One of marriage responsibility is to be faithful to each other.
People should stop blaming the wife as I'm sure she herself don't want that to happen to her. Asking question about why did she married to him when she already know his reputation is like asking rape victims why they wear revealing clothes. Nobody wants these things happen in their lives.
I didn't expect my original simple comment turning into these super long conversation. All I wanna say is I honestly don't understand why people seems to be lenient on him. And I still don't get it… Maybe it's the cultural differences thingy
confusedturtle
March 19, 2016 at 7:14 PM
Nathan, no one is blaming the wife. I certainly wasn't. But it's a mater between them. She might have agreed to it, she might feel it's her duty to stand by him, she might really hate him but feel she has to stay. If so, that sucks. But cheating is a moral issue, not a crime.
Since you brought it up in another comment, yes, although I hope neither happen, I would rather be cheated on than raped. I don't know how you can even compare the two.

But all the negative opinions just sank my enthusiasm. I'll try to get back to what I was originally going to say:
His trying to out his pinky while holding that tiny cup just emphasizes how masculine this man is and I'm admiring and squeeing at the picture I'm looking at - I don't see his character so it doesn't affect the effect the picture causes in me. I'm still oggling and drooling cause it's an unobtainable fantasy anyway. Since I can't have him, it doesn't matter what his real character is like. Spare me the real details, PLEASE!

LBH has a track record of being sleazy this wasn't his first. He was with a canadian-korean who he knocked up and then he tried to have it covered up. Like Roman Polanski and Woody Allen even if they are good at their jobs this tars it for me, so little respect for women and I don't pay money as a female for sleazes like that.
PSH was accused and was never tried and found guilty. He was also drunk doesn't excuse the behaviour but he learnt a very painful lesson.
Even in these pictures he looks slimy. LMJ makes her own choices and we don't know what goes on behind closed doors.

Putting together cases that involve sex with a minor and simple affaires between two consenting adults is definitely NOT very logical, let alone fair.
As much as I love Woody Allen, I understand that his genius personality may display a disturbing sexual expression. I say nothing about Polanski and his drug days since no one knows what really happened after all these years (and all those drugs). The US Government was after him for years anyway.
I think searching in Wikipedia for names that vaguely seem relevant only confuses people who don't know them. I suggest more thorough research when topics like this one surface.

I know what happened to his wife was horrific (killed by the Manson people) and I always wonder if drugs and that incident didn't mess him up...but still.

The Korean Canadian went to Korea because of an invitation from a third person to be with LBH. He was in Toronto promoting a movie. She followed him back to Korea. He and she dated. He never denied it.
She was introduced to friends and family. Then it was over. He lost interest or saw her for the gold digger she was, who knows. Some "friends" talked her into suing him saying that he got her into bed by promising marriage. I think he has a pretty easy time getting laid and I don't believe her. I also never heard she was pregnant. She went back to Toronto and never appeared in court. The worst I can say about him in this case is, he was a jerk and an asshole. She followed him knowing who he was. Would she have followed a guy who owned a chicken restaurant? I highly doubt it. She took a shot and lost. He, in the meantime, wins one award after another. His career is better and better. He is an incredible actor. And let's face it Korea is a patriarchal society. By the way he was single at the time. Now he's married and a creep. He likes young girls. Young girls have big mouths. I have a feeling we'll be hearing more about him in the future.

According to Wiki the charges were dropped because the alleged victim withdrew her complaint. As far as I can see there are two scenarios to why she withdrew it: 1. she made it all up and it got a bit much to keep up the lie, or 2. he paid her off and she signed a NDA - either because he was guilty or because he tried to minimize the scandal.
I didn't read about it when it unfolded, but I did some quick googling and from what I can tell three people shared two bottles of liquor that was between 18-45%. She was able to walk down 15 steps at the bar, but then she was carried from the car back to his apartment. If she was too drunk to make it there on her own or if they were just being playful isn't apparent. If it's the former then I find it hard to believe that someone in that state could've given consent.
The only people who actually know what happened that night are the two involved, but I understand why people believe he's guilty.

I'm not sure what to think of it to be honest... but after all it is good to see that he took some time off and thought about his life. Gives me the feeling that something like this won't ever happen again to him - sleeping with women while being drunk.
I'm not too sure about LBH. Maybe it's because I like his wife way more than him, that I'm pissed off. How could anyone in their right mind cheat on LMY? I still don't get how you could not not cheat on her. Even if it is "just" flirting. Maybe it's because he's sooooo full of himself? Then why do women like LMY fall for jerks like LBH...

As published, close to 30% of South Korea's population claim themselves as being Christian. If so, there are a lot of hypocritical people chiming in on this subject. Even those that are NOT Christian, who in the hell gave you the right to judge anyone. Only GOD, Buddha or whomever you believe in can judge a person's indiscretions. All I see coming from these comments are a bunch of judgmental people. Whether Lee Byung Hun cheated or not is something for he and his wife to deal with. I enjoy him as an actor and appreciate his performances. I don't need to look at him as a moral compass or my spiritual leader. At any rate, he is making money throughout Asia and the United States due to his acting talents. No one is asking you to like him, but you can't deny the man has skills. There is no one else from South Korea at this time getting those kind of acknowledgments.

I know, right. The man has skills, he is making money, South Korea's best export to the world etc etc. How awesome for him... and for his fab non-judgmental fans! Why should it matter that he seems to have a sh***y personal life?! Some of us feel conflicted about padding the pockets of people who treat others badly. But, good for LBH that there's you.

Actors are humans, too! Acting is their profession to make a living. Their private life is their own and nobody else's business! End of story!

I give up at this point ever reading about certain actors or their works ever again. It always sinks into what he or she did. Everyone should list their five favorite oppas and realize that one or two of them is probably on a range from jerk to complete fill-in-the-blank derogatory name and we are NEVER going to know it because right now, I can guarantee people are buying their way out of these problems. It happens in Hollywood (though not for the same stuff) and anywhere there is an entertainment industry.

I don't find him attractive at all. His physical features reminds me of a rat or a snake. Just sayin.
