Kim Ji-won in the running to romance prince Park Bo-gum

Well that was fast. Upcoming KBS fusion sageuk Moonlight Drawn by Clouds just confirmed Park Bo-gum (Answer Me 1988) to play its hero, and already the casting rounds have begun for his co-star.
Producers say she’s just one of many possibilities, but Kim Ji-won (Descended From the Sun) is in consideration for the leading role. I hadn’t thought of her when the show was first announced, but I’ve always liked Kim Ji-won — she’s emotive and has good range for a young actress, so I’m happy with the potential casting.
The new series is an adaptation of a web novel by Yoon Yi-soo, and the drama comes from the team behind Who Are You—School 2015. It’s a youth romance set in 19th-century Joseon, about a girl who crossdresses and pretends to be a worldly man in order to give out love advice. She’s the daughter of a traitor who must keep her identity hidden, and eventually she enters the palace as a eunuch.
She’ll become friends with real-life historical figures Crown Prince Hyomyeong (played by Park Bo-gum) and Joseon scholar/poet Kim Sat-gat (yet to be cast), and have lovelines with both of them. The drama is a coming-of-age story about youths in Joseon, and though the setup is familiar, I like the idea of a resourceful love guru heroine and her cover life as a palace eunuch. Only hijinks could ensue.
Moonlight Drawn by Clouds is being considered for a Monday-Tuesday slot in July or August on KBS.

I'm definitely watching this if Kim Ji Won signs on. She's doing wonderfully well in Descendants of the Sun and her chemistry with Jin Goo is off the charts. When they bicker, they're cute as buttons; with her fiesty attitude and his deadpan comebacks. But when they stare anguishly at each other, my heart clenches for them.

This. I love every of their moment, from the first scene of them at the hospital. Their romance conflict may be a little cliché but here both nailed their roles to perfection and the palpable chemistry made it hard for me not to fall for them. I hope MJ character will have more scenes for herself, I want more character development for her. I just need more of this couple ah~~

I enjoy our leads separately and for some reason cannot get into them when together. I wanted smack home girl for running to the captain like dome high schooler and trying to plead his case. Like girl, really? Why would she think that would work with the military and their politics and rules. Why didn't she see that, that action would hurt him and his reputation p, not help.

I've been rooting for her to move into lead roles ever since Heirs, it took long enough! She's versatile and emotive, a lot like Park Bo-gum - I'm looking forward to seeing how their acting styles mesh.
(and now, more than ever, PLEASE let this drama turn out decent and not a mess like School 2015 or Scholar! These leads deserve better)

But yes at this! I think they released this to see the public's reaction and from what I read, knetz are LOVING it, so there's a big chance we'll see Bogum ad Jiwon as leads for this drama.

Last time with Girl who can see smell, the reactions were similar. yet Ji won agency immediately refuted it, even said they didn't even receive any offer :( I end up not watching that drama at all argh Anyway, still happy of the positive reaction, her talent is at least recognized ^^

I have only seen her in Heirs and her character was written as annoying...not her fault. Have not started DOTS yet so I don't have enough to go on to say if I am for this or not.

I saw her in that Lee Byung Hun movie. I forgot what movie is it. It's sort of a historical too.

I hope this turns out to be true. It sounds funny. If it airs at the same time as the remake of BBJX then both would have similar stories.

Yes, yes, a thousand times YES! I did a massive freak out reading the title of this article and I was very scared/anxious to see who they might cast as PBG's lead. I couldn't approve more. Kim Ji Won has always been great.
But a lot of people here saying they've waited long enough for her to get a lead role finally, but she did have a lead role before.... remember 'What's Up' with I'm Joo Hwan???

She wasn't considered the main main, just one of the main characters, like in Heirs or DotS. She did have a main main role in a web drama and she will have another web drama soon, but this is for national TV, is bigger issue.

i just love her.she is great actress and a beauty.i liked every single role she was in.my favourite was rachel you totally fall in love with her in heirs.but now with the descedants of the sun her acting is on another level,she is perfect.Yoon Myeong-Joo has become my favourite character of her.

Please do not cast Seo Kang Joon as the second male, otherwise he will end up as the second male lead. lol Sorry I'm still bitter.
Anyway, I like the casting so far. I hope a good actor is cast as his antagonist. What about Ryoo Joon Yeol? Oops better not, cos he won't get the girl again....Then we will have Reply Me 1988 2.0.
I'm scarred by those 2 shows, so I'm sorry if I've offended anyone. It's not the actors that I'm mad at but a huge disappointment with the production teams. Although overall RM 1988 is an awesome drama aside from the disappointing endgame although I can see why, but Cheese in the Trap was just a big "WTF".

But it silly to hate the actor. It is not SJK fault to show his best. It is sad that he overshadowed PHJ. Give credit whom credit is due, SKJ did a fantastic drama in that drama.
If we keep hating the actor, I could hate Jo In Sung a miillion times for doing the same to So Ji Sub in 'What Happened in Bali.' I didn't finish that. But that is how it is. Sometimes a star can shine brighter than the other. But Halleluyah,not long after, So Ji Sub redeemed himself with I am Sorry, I love You. I am sure it could happen to PHJ too.
Years later, I learned to love JIS and would watch anything he does but SJS is still my first pick.

Although I don't quite agree because QSD also changed its direction from the initial plan. Same as Feast of the Gods. Same thing happend, they changed course midway. I also dropped that drama because I was pissed. FOTG is only less than 5 years old so I still have that different towards Lee Sang Woo. But I can really blame him. No matter I love JSW, LSW had better chemistry with SYR in that drama.
In CIIT for me, KGE has better chemistry with SKJ. The production probably would have changed course if the controversy didn't blow up.
My point is: it is solely the responsibility of the Production mainly the Director.

Oh thank God. I love her story with Jin Goo in DoTS the best. So hell yeah, it high time that she gets a show of her own.
Park Bo Gum. Oh God, it makes me so nervous now. I just hope he is able to extend his successful streak. I am stupidly possessive of the shows he is going to take up. So i really hope, this one turns out good for him, pretty please.
Although, i have no heart to sit through love triangles (it has been happning so much off-late with me. Though i was lucky with R88, CITT bitched me), but do i have an option if its Park Bo Gum?

Now when's Jin Goo gonna lead a drama? Eons ago I remember being so impressed by him in All in (way more than Lee Santa), seems he hasn't gotten terribly popular yet. Is it because he's no flower boy? And *gasp* got married at a young age? *sigh
