Goodbye Mr. Black teases revenge and romance

I could use something dark and thrilling right about now, so I’m looking forward to the premiere of Goodbye Mr. Black next week. The new Wednesday-Thursday drama on MBC is a revenge tale about a man wronged by his best friend, and features a sweet romance that leaves our hero conflicted about his priorities. Can’t a guy be a lover and an avenger at the same time? I suppose if revenge were that easy it wouldn’t be drama-worthy.
The posters aren’t anything special conceptually, but I am excited about this cast. Lee Jin-wook (The Time I’ve Loved You) stars as a once-optimistic naval officer who ends up betrayed by his best friend Kim Kang-woo (Golden Cross), a chaebol heir of a resort group who takes the hero’s fiancée and frames him for a crime.
Moon Chae-won (Good Doctor) is a woman he meets in Thailand, and though they get off to a rocky start when he accuses her of being a pickpocket, she quickly develops a crush on the man who seems to always show up when she’s in trouble. In the first teaser, she worries that he’ll get hurt by her side, but he says he won’t let her go at it alone and takes her by the hand. Lee Jin-wook: “Even if I’m late, I’ll be there. You can wait, right?”
In the second teaser, Moon Chae-won says that if they’re living in hiding, they’ll need to change their names: “You’re Black, and I’m Swan.” But separation looms for the couple, because Lee Jin-wook keeps saying things like, “Remember my face. No matter where you are, I’ll come find you.” In the end, he hugs her and says, “I miss you a lot.”
The premise tells us that she’ll become a part of his new identity as his fake wife Kim Swan, when he returns to Korea to begin his revenge on Kim Kang-woo. They’re pretty adorable already in the teasers, which bodes well for the love side of the equation. As for the revenge, I don’t think there’s any worry about Lee Jin-wook and Kim Kang-woo bringing out the big guns for their bromance gone wrong.
Song Jae-rim co-stars as the editor of an internet news site, and Yoo In-young plays Kim Kang-woo’s wife and Lee Jin-wook’s first love. Goodbye Mr. Black premieres next Wednesday, March 16.

Seems people are lazy to sub PP because no eye candy oppa/flower boy. No popular casts for them. While for GMB, I believe it will be subbed less than 24hours

Viki is not subbing PP because Viki cannot get license from tvN, not because of eye candy. PP is produced by tvN which gave DF exclusive license for tvN shows for several years.

Thank you for explaining this. Subbing is already difficult enough without having to deal with unjust accusations.
Besides, it's the subber's choice what show they want to work on first. I know it's frustrating when your show is not subbed by those "shallow kyaagirls" but those volunteer subbers are the ones who actually do something (learn a language and sub shows) whereas we only wait for their hard work.
As for DF, it's a business, unfortunately. They can choose what they want to sub first. If you really hate them, take your money elsewhere to send them a message, "I don't like your actions as a company". Maybe if enough people do it, something will change.

I know I know tvN dramas license are for DF only. It's just that this drama doesn't gain much interest from I-viewers which I think is the reason why the sub will be not as fast as the other dramas that gain many I-viewers interest.
And yeah in the end it's the subber choice after all to sub the one that becomes their priority. I have no right to complain muahahaha

Lol, I'm such a huge sap for such dialogues - I'll protect you, I'll come for you, wait for me, etc. I suppose they are cheesy, but they always manage to get me.
Those posters are fugly though. Urgh, creativity in the trash bin. They couldn't have made it worse even if they tried.

I agree. The posters are horrible. It has a sort of dark vibe, but with a rom-com like logo. Weird. The first two are the worst though. Someone should just photoshop it and make them individual posters. They look way better (though very plain) if you'll just cover MCW's face in the first, and LJW's in the second.

That was my first thought as well! Though no complaints from me there...that was one of the books I actually enjoyed reading in school! Always find revenge dramas very satisfying (especially when they're not 100+ episodes long).

Yeah! I loved her hair in Mask--it was fab, while poor thing got stuck w/ AWFUL hair in Venus. I'm pretty sure the new 'do she's sporting here is mostly extensions, but it works.

Oh, Yoo In-Young, it's you again. I see Moon Chae-Won is the next A-Lister whose character you're set to be cruel to. Man, is she getting typecast, but there's hope.
In fairness, I'm looking forward to the sexy anatgonistic chemistry she has with Lee Jin-Wook. There was loads of that in Three Musketeers, which coincidentally is also Dumas-based.

"LJW's amazing bone structure" - yes, can't agree more. Same with Yoo Jin Gu grown-up version. Or the latest hottie, Ryu Jun Yeol.
I have always wondered why the Kdramaland aesthetic of 'flower boys', who have weak cheek bones, no jaw lines (or V-shaped jaws!) and plastic-surgeried noses, which make them very effeminate. This is especially the case with idols-turn-actors. As time goes by, when those boys age, they look totally weird!

I'm most reminded of Cain and Abel, honestly - maybe it's the romance angle? - which is a drama I enjoyed (for the most part), so for me it's not a bad comparison at all.
And I love these leads and the Count of Monte Cristo, so yay! Can't wait for next week!

Ha, I couldn't help but be snarky after reading Lee Jin-wook's line, “Even if I’m late, I’ll be there. You can wait, right?” because um, idk about Moon Chae-won, but I'd probably DIE from waiting because I have like, zero fight skills.
Anyways, revenge plot sounds intriguing and fake-turned-real romance sounds sweet. Yippie! Also, where is Yoo In-young's fiece, chic short hair? I guess hairstyle changes for our ladies!

im pretty confused abt whom to root for...........i really like lee jin wook.......he has got killer eyes. but recently i watched missing noir and golden cross........omo omo.......Kim kang woo is soo hot. i was literally swooning....his smile is captivating
so im dissapointed that he is in an evil role, hope he will soon come back to lead roles..

Kim Kang Woo is so fine. The eye candy is strong in this drama. i don't know how i feel about MCW's hair cut though it'll take some time seeing her play somewhat of a tom boyish role.

TBH, as much as I want this drama to win the ratings battle, I don't think GMB stands a chance against DOTS... DOTS has gathered all those kyaahhh girls all over the world to scream over SJK's abs and charms..lol! Well I can't blame them either, that's how our world works. But story wise, I find DOTS pretty empty, it has a nice cinematography and beautiful visuals but nothing really worth interesting inside, oh well, since GMB hasn't aired yet, I still don't know if this will be better than DoTS, I'm just basing everything on the synopsis and character descriptions alone, plus I love all the casts.

Whoever responsible for that poster needs to be fired, though.
I don't think this drama can top Descendant's of The Sun in terms of ratings, and I'm not a fan of revenge melodramas, but I hope the story delivers. Definitely will be tuning in for Lee Jin Wook! He looks dreamy in that uniform.

Whoever made these posters need to get fired... so boring and uninspiring.
BUT!
My recent foolproof research actually shows dramas with boring, unimaginative posters end up being great. Ex: I Hear Your Voice, Producers, You From Another Stars, Pinocchio.
While dramas with great, evocative posters end up blergh. Ex: Warm and Cozy, Joseon Gunman, SWWTN
Here's hoping despite the posters, GMB will be great!

does it means that black initially is a rich man son but eventually get framed for a murder and loss everything including his fiancee, wealth and everything? I wonder how he gonna get a revenge on someone powerful if he don't have money?
in count of monte cristo he met a man with a treasure so I'm eager to see how black get money to execute his revenge
