Park Bo-gum bows out of Entertainer, Ji Sung still considering

Park Bo-gum, currently riding a wave of popularity for the one-two punch of Answer Me 1988 and Youths Over Flowers, will not be taking on SBS’s Entertainer for his next drama, after briefly considering it as a possibility.
Entertainer centers around the CEO of a third-rate entertainment company that reps only the worst rookies in the music biz, who’d once been a major executive for a top agency. That’s the role currently out to Ji Sung (Kill Me, Heal Me), who is still in contention and would be perfect for it. (The real question is: Is the drama good enough for Ji Sung?)
Park Bo-gum was up to play one of Ji Sung’s trainees, and the loose plot description we were given told us that the plot would involve putting together a band. The fact that the agency reps “loser” rookies explains the title, which is a negative word for entertainer; calling someone a ddanddara is usually an insult.
The information provided doesn’t give us much to go on, but looking at the writer’s prior works gives us a hint of her style and tone, which is heartwarming human dramas. Yes, Yoo Young-ah did write Birdie Buddy and Pretty Man, but her credits list is quite long, and there are a bunch of notable titles as well: She wrote based-on-a-true-story sports film As One, Han Seok-kyu and Lee Je-hoon’s teacher-student film My Paparotti, period film Royal Tailor, and Lee Jong-seok and Seo In-gook’s swimming movie No Breathing; she also has adaptation credit on the mega-blockbuster Miracle in Cell No. 7. Directing is PD Hong Sung-chan of You’re Beautiful and King of Dramas.
Despite not confirming a cast yet, the drama has secured a timeslot, and will premiere on April 20 as an SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama, to follow Come Back, Ajusshi.

aaah, maybe that's one reason Park Bo Gum leave, it already has time slot but no lead? seriously?
I hope the drama can find someone but I hope Jisung can find a good drama, it feels like a dejavu since KMHM embrace Ji sung 2 weeks before aired.

Good for him, that scriptwriter has some terrible track record. No Breathing and the Royal Taylor were both mediocre at best and don't even get me started on Pretty Man and the Birdie Buddy. I wonder how many flow project does one need to have in Korea before the investors start to pull out.

the plot ?
an international company where Ji Sung is a very eccentric and disconnected from reality CEO, who always gets ideas for outrageous marketing events. Ki Woongie is the inventive manager who always gets burdened with making all of that happen with zero budget. and Bogummy is the aspiring photographer who is telling the story through his photo-journal, a very insightful person who neither of the others still never have time to listen to.
There would also be the daughter of the CEO who is sort of embarrassed for her dad, but learns to appreciate his creativity through the photos Bogummys´ character takes. KiWoongies character should have a crush on her, thats why he works so hard. and what if we have the photographer crush on ... um... yeah, not sure though. But it would make for an interesting dynamics.

Yes. Definitely not for Park Bo Gum. Loser ain't something you can see in Park Bo Gum's face. From Cantanible Tomorrow, I Remember You, Reply 1988. He is more like the Ace type, the trump card.

i think he's looking out to be the leading man of HIS OWN drama--as he should be. i will be supporting the next project he chooses. (hopefully the female lead would be good--how cute would a park bo gum x park bo young paring be tho? even their names together is cute, GAH!!)

It honestly looks to be the right decision until proven otherwise obviously. Now if Ji Sung also turns it down, I wonder if SBS will pull it off their Wed-Thu line... Not that they have much time though.

Well, the description is so vague and makes me uneasy but the same thing happened to me with KMHM and I loved it! Im a sucker for dramas involving music! I kinda think it wasnt for PBG but then to have Ji Sung considering it, it grabs your attention. I just remembered that scene of SeGi attending that idol members' audition for a movie role who was awfully bad at acting and tells him something like "its okay, since foot acting is the trend these days", if his role is that cynical, then I'd like to watch!

if anything, I would like a spin off of Se Gi in the company being snarky and a total boss. we got too little of that and too many ordinary boring company moments. I would have loved if he had flipped everything on its head in the company how he saw fit

Kinda happy it turned it down...the few things that we know about the plot sounds meh to me and the writer doesn't really make me more into it...Till now Park Bo Gum had an eye(or his agency) for good stories and i hope the next project,even more after the success Reply '88 was to be a solid one,hope to see him maybe in a thriller or some poweful type/solid script that works that talent and make it shine even more...

Oh my God I was just about to mention him! Actually I love the premise, and if Jisung signs on then I'll be even more hyped. Writer is not promising but I'm willing to try.
Dongyeon is perfect for this kind of role, he has that from-zero-to-hero aura and he can play any role from top A-list student to a 'loser' or even a fool in my opinion. I'm not saying that Bogum isn't as good, but this probably isn't his kind of role. But to be very honest, if he had accepted this role then I would have loved it as well. Who knows this can actually be his another breaking role
