One More Happy Ending: Episode 10
by LollyPip
There’s little time to think about relationships when suddenly there are careers on the line, for both Mi-mo and Soo-hyuk, and every possible solution seems to only threaten to make things worse. But there’s a lesson to be learned even here, that love and understanding can truly solve any problem. After all, if Conan says it, then it must be true.
EPISODE 10 RECAP
Mi-mo is rushed by a pack of Seul-ah’s fans, having misunderstood the news reports to believe that she caused Seul-ah’s miscarriage. But before they can harm her, Soo-hyuk puts himself between Mi-mo and the fans, taking the brunt of their attack himself. He stands over her protectively, not moving a muscle even when he’s struck in the face with a rock.
She’s silent as Soo-hyuk drives her home, and he settles her in with some water and unplugs her television so she can’t see any more news articles. He puts away her laptop and turns off her phone, and tells her that just for today, not to look at or listen to anything. Aww, he even brings her Ppoppo to snuggle. It’s a lie (and Soo-hyuk knows it) when Mi-mo tells him that he can go because she’s fine, but he goes anyway.
Hae-joon hears the rumors at the hospital, but he can’t reach Mi-mo since her phone is off. He cancels all of his appointments and rushes to her place.
Soo-hyuk goes to his office with murder in his eyes, and finds the reporter who published the story about Mi-mo. He’s furious that she dug Ah-ni’s story out of the recycle bin on her computer and published it, growling that it was trashed for a reason. Their boss interjects, taking the blame for having the story published.
Soo-hyuk turns his question on the boss: How could he publish an obviously buried story, without even asking if there was a reason for it? Even if it’s just bad timing that both stories came out at the same time, now Mi-mo is being viciously attacked, when she didn’t even do anything wrong. Ah-ni didn’t intend that story to get out — do the reporters have no say in whether their stories are published?
Soo-hyuk’s temper flares and he throws a trash can with enough force to mangle it. Damn. He threatens to quit, and storms out. (And if it weren’t such an emotionally charged moment, it would be funny that his boss comments that Soo-hyuk’s outburst was sexy.)
Hae-joon looks worried sick when he gets to Mi-mo’s place, though she assures him that she’ll be fine with some time. His advice is for her to fight back, and when she says she wants to just wait for things to blow over, he tries to override her. But Mi-mo’s been through this sort of thing before, and insists on waiting.
Dong-mi and Ae-ran tell Da-jung what happened, but none of them know the man who whisked Mi-mo away to safety. Da-jung only knows that something’s been weighing on Mi-mo’s mind, and sends the others to check on her.
Min-woo sees Mi-mo leaving with Hae-joon, so when Dong-mi and Ae-ran show up at Mi-mo’s he tells them that she’s out with a guy. They talk to him like he’s four, asking if they guy she left with was handsome, or if he was cute, and Min-woo deadpans, “Personally I hope she gets with the cute guy. But she left with the handsome guy.” HA, I love this kid.
Dong-mi says that she left with “her boyfriend,” and once Min-woo is alone, he lets his disappointment show.
Hae-joon takes Mi-mo to a quiet place to look at the stars and relax, and she tells him that the best and worst thing she ever did was joining the Angels. It was difficult when they broke up, though she became stronger because of it. But people still associate her with the Angels even though they disbanded a long time ago, and she just wants to live life as herself.
Soo-hyuk decides to write a story about what really happened the day that Mi-mo confronted Seul-ah and Jung-hoon. Hyun-gi finds him hard at work and they relocate to the pojangmacha, where Hyun-gi asks if it wouldn’t be better to just leave it alone. Poking the bear could just make everything worse.
Soo-hyuk counters that he doesn’t mind putting himself in the line of fire, even from Seul-ah’s big-time agency, if it helps Mi-mo. His only concern is that his article also could also put her in the spotlight, in a bad way.
Mi-mo leaves her phone off until morning, then steels herself to return her many missed calls. There’s an emergency at work and she rushes out, brushing aside Soo-hyuk as she goes.
Yeon-soo objects to Hae-joon’s avoiding her on Mi-mo’s request, and she apologizes for saying that she wants him back. She asks if Hae-joon likes Mi-mo because she used to be in Angels, and Hae-joon answers vaguely, “She makes me smile.” He wonders when his “struggle against her halo” will end, remembering all the times he could have kissed her and didn’t — wait, is that why he’s keeping his distance?
Yeon-soo tells Hae-joon that, as many women as he’s dated, he still doesn’t know one important thing — how to give, and not just take. When he describes someone as “a woman who makes me smile,” he’s making himself the most important thing in the relationship. Because of that, he doesn’t realize that while he’s smiling, the woman is miserable.
Brave Wedding is in trouble, accused of being a broker of fraudulent marriage. The man who nearly attacked Mi-mo at the dating event has decided to make an issue of it, and he’s got some pretty damning evidence. He claims that the man his mother (I misunderstood their relationship in the previous episode) married provided Brave Wedding with forged personal information, married the woman he was matched with, then ran off with her money.
Mi-mo insists that Brave Wedding is innocent, but they can still be in trouble for not verifying their clients’ identification and documents. And to make matters worse, the client in question made some extra payments, supposedly to thank them for finding him a wife. It looks bad, as if they were taking bribes, or a cut of the money he stole.
Mi-mo decides not to tell Da-jung about this for fear of setting back her healing, and determines to handle things herself. We see that Soo-hyuk followed her to the police station and heard everything, and he starts making calls.
Mi-mo is recognized on the street outside the police station, and people loudly assume that she was arrested for assaulting Seul-ah and causing her miscarriage. This rumor is really getting out of hand.
Geun-hak watches Da-jung from a distance, remembering when they were engaged and she wanted him to wear couple t-shirts. When he balked, she joked that she wouldn’t marry a man who couldn’t do this simple thing for her, and he’d indulged her without too much fuss.
The Brave Wedding office is in an uproar when Mi-mo arrives at work, with clients yelling about being swindled. Mi-mo protests her innocence, but one man screams that the woman he met through their agency ran off with his money, and she’s struck silent in shock.
Soo-hyuk is still trying to decide whether to release his story claiming that Mi-mo was actually the victim in the hotel incident. He argues to the boss that this is only necessary because he printed a story that should never have been printed, but tells him that he still hasn’t decided whether to publish it.
That night Soo-hyuk finds Mi-mo sitting on the bench outside their building, and he gives her his scarf and sits with her. He gently broaches the subject of his article, warning her that publishing the story will make it necessary to tell the details of her relationship with Jung-hoon.
He crouches in front of Mi-mo, and tells her that he never published the original story out of respect for her, and he still feels cautious about publishing this one. He doesn’t want to see her hurt, but he’s worried that not publishing it will cause this misunderstanding to go on for far too long, which could also hurt her. But he says that it’s her decision.
Looking at Soo-hyuk’s earnest, honest face as he says all this, Mi-mo starts to cry quietly. She sobs that she doesn’t know what to do, and that she’s confused. Soo-hyuk reaches up to wipe away her tears, but stops himself before touching her face.
In the elevator, Mi-mo nearly collapses, and Soo-hyuk just barely catches her before she falls. She stumbles again once inside her apartment, and this time she starts to have a panic attack. Gasping for air, she passes out. Oh no, this is her worst nightmare — being alone and in medical distress.
Hyun-gi has done some digging on the Brave Wedding scandal, and he reports to Soo-hyuk that the police to have enough evidence to charge them with fraud. Their only hope is to find the man who forged his paperwork, and make him confess that he acted alone. He’s tracked the man to Hong Kong, and Soo-hyuk’s only question is to ask how soon he can leave.
He stays up late reading old articles about the Angels’ breakup, and sees that Mi-mo took the brunt of the blame back then as well. He goes across the hall to talk to her, and grows worried when she doesn’t answer the door or her phone. He gets the security guard to let him in, and finds Mi-mo still unconscious on the floor.
Soo-hyuk is nearly as pale as Mi-mo as she’s rushed to the hospital, and he reaches out to take her hand… and has it snatched away by a furious Hae-joon. Hae-joon tells him to go, but this time, Soo-hyuk refuses to comply.
Hae-joon seems itching for a fight, but Soo-hyuk makes it clear that he has no intention of going anywhere – he only cares about Mi-mo right now. That gets through to Hae-joon, and he stops fighting.
Soo-hyuk never leaves Mi-mo’s side, and Hae-joon finds him still with her late that night. She’s going to be okay, and Hae-joon overhears Soo-hyuk softly thank her for being alright. Soo-hyuk apologizes to Hae-joon for fighting earlier, and asks Hae-joon to take care of Mi-mo.
Hae-joon objects to Soo-hyuk calling it a “favor,” as if he has a right to ask that sort of favor in regards to Mi-mo. Soo-hyuk backs down and leaves, but once he’s alone, he’s overwhelmed with memories of Seon-soo’s death, and he cries to himself.
Hae-joon, for his part, seems to be seeing the difference between his feelings for Mi-mo, and Soo-hyuk’s. He thinks about how Soo-hyuk was so focused on Mi-mo the night before, and remembers Yeon-soo telling him that he only takes in relationships, and never gives. He’s there when Mi-mo wakes, and he’s hurt that she didn’t tell him how much pain she was in.
Soo-hyuk flies to Hong Kong, leaving Hyun-gi to tell their boss to print his story. The boss isn’t keen on the idea, worried that Soo-hyuk will be torn apart by Seul-ah’s agency, but Hyun-gi says that he’s made up his mind.
So the story goes live, and public opinion starts to turn in Mi-mo’s favor. Her friends are impressed with Soo-hyuk’s writing, and Mi-mo is so touched that she can’t speak, and just bursts into tears.
But not everyone is happy about the story, and the Masspunch office gets picketed by Seul-ah supporters. The boss wonders if they should tell Soo-hyuk to just stay in Hong Kong forever, ha.
Mi-mo is unaware that Soo-hyuk is out of the country until she goes across the hall to thank him. She debates calling him, but she’s distracted when her assistant brings paperwork proving that Brave Wedding didn’t swindle anyone. There’s also a foreigner here to meet with her, to talk about being matched — if it’s Conan O’Brien again, I’ll laugh myself silly.
Of course it is, and he’s even playing himself! Unfortunately he seems more than a bit smitten with Mi-mo herself, and he describes his ideal woman by describing Mi-mo perfectly, exactly the same way Soo-hyuk did. He even says, in Korean, “It’s you, Goldfish, I’m talking about you,” and refuses to become her client. I can’t breathe, I’m gonna need a minute…
Mi-mo is scandalized, but Conan leaves her with a wink and a word of advice: Love overcomes everything.
Geun-hak arrives at the hospital to find the female patients running around all excited, and a nurse tells him that “he” will be here soon. “He” turns out to be Professor Kim, the sweetheart of the hospital, a doctor who understands women better than anyone else. Geun-hak recalls how Yeon-soo told him that women want to be loved and understood, and their reaction to this doctor seems to prove her point.
Ae-ran preps Dong-mi for her date with the younger man (whose name is Jung-woo), reminding her not to act like a noona or he won’t see her in a romantic light. She gives Dong-mi a little makeover — not to change her whole look, but just to make her look like a softer, prettier version of herself. She loans Dong-mi her favorite purse and tells her not to dare bring it back scratched. Dong-mi heads out and aww, her date lights up when he sees her.
Geun-hak sends a rose with little Tae-yong, telling him to give it to his mom and tell her she’s beautiful. Tae-yong does the job perfectly, and Da-jung is completely unaware that the flower is from Geun-hak, though her roommate Hye-sun glimpses him watching from the hall.
Ae-ran gets an invitation from Dong-bae to a party at a restaurant, and though she sneers at what a jerk he is, she’s too curious not to go. She pulls him aside to ask what this is about, and he says that he doesn’t want people to know that they split up right after the wedding. They argue over whether they’re even married (they had the ceremony, but never filed the marriage license), grabbing and shoving each other angrily.
Their struggles look hilariously like dancing to the party guests, and they eventually wear each other out. They collapse on a bench, and Dong-bae says that when they were dating, he only cheated because Ae-ran broke his heart so often. Oh, so it’s her fault? He asks if she’ll come back if he promises to be faithful, and Ae-ran just looks at him.
Mi-mo finally screws up her courage to call Soo-hyuk and gets his voicemail, so she tries calling the Masspunch office. Hyun-gi tells her that he’s coming back later today, and she asks him exactly when that will be.
Hyun-gi picks Soo-hyuk up at the airport, but he was unable to convince the client to confess, only to promise to think about it. Hyun-gi doesn’t understand why he didn’t just drag the guy back to Korea, but Soo-hyuk seems tired, and says he’ll just wait and have faith.
Mi-mo is visited by Lee So-yeon, the mother of the man who accused her of cheating her customers and the wife of the man who forged his documents. She reminds Mi-mo how she only asked for a man who looks kind, and when she met her now-husband, she knew immediately that he was a kind person.
He’d been honest with her from the beginning about his precarious financial situation, and all she cared about was what a good person he is. But her children accused him of plotting to steal her money, so it was actually her idea to forge the documents to make her children back off. He didn’t run off with her money — they ran away together.
She feels terrible now, seeing the trouble this has caused for Mi-mo and Brave Wedding, but Mi-mo tells her that happiness is the most important thing in life. She knows what it’s like to have failed relationships, but she refuses to give up on love, and she urges So-yeon not to give up either.
Before So-yeon leaves, she tells Mi-mo how impressed she was that her friend traveled all the way to Hong Kong to tell them what was happening. She says how sincere and worried he was about Mi-mo, and how he convinced them to come back and tell the truth.
Soo-hyuk is now the one under fire, both from Seul-ah’s fans and from her agency. Mi-mo arrives at his office just in time to see him being pelted with eggs and screamed at by the angry mob. Her instinct is to run to him, but Hyun-gi holds her back, saying that will only make it worse and that Soo-hyuk wouldn’t want that.
She goes to their bench and cries, remembering how he’d asked her if she wanted the article published. She thinks about his confession at their school, and how he admitted that he bottled his feeling up inside. She even thinks about how he begged her not to touch him or he’d want to take her hand, and how he protected her from her attackers.
All of the clues about his feelings hit Mi-mo at once, and she can’t do anything but cry. And then he’s just there, silently watching over her, like he always is when she needs him. They look at each other for a long moment, wondering how they got here.
COMMENTS
Well finally, Mi-mo realizes Soo-hyuk’s feelings. I can understand how our Goldfish didn’t see it before — as I said, she pretty much needs to be bonked over the head with a blunt object before she understands something to be true. But Soo-hyuk has now gone to such lengths to put Mi-mo first, even literally placing himself between her and danger more than once, that even she can’t pretend that she doesn’t see how much he loves her.
I know I complained about the other three Angels’ stories taking up too much time a few weeks back, but that was before I got so invested in Da-jung and Geun-hak’s story. I do love their love story (I even think their relationship could have carried a whole drama), and I love watching Geun-hak really do some soul-searching in the last couple of episodes. It’s sweet to see him spending time at the hospital without Da-jung’s knowledge, remembering what made him fall in love with Da-jung in the first place and trying hard to understand what went wrong. It’s always been clear that they still love each other, but their wounds just run so deep that at some point, they stopped being able to open up to each other for fear of being hurt even more. They’re also due another happy ending, and I can’t wait to see them fall in love all over again.
I did appreciate getting a bit of insight into Hae-joon’s feelings in this episode, especially when he wondered how long he’ll have to “struggle against her halo.” I interpret that to mean that he’s struggling with seeing her through the lens of her former idol status — that he sees her as very innocent and pure, which makes it difficult for him to approach her in a physically romantic way. If that’s the case, it makes so much sense and I wish we as an audience had been let in on that a few episodes earlier. I still don’t like his mind games and manipulation, but if I’d known that he was having a hard time emotionally separating her angelic image in his memories from the reality of her as a regular person, I wouldn’t have been so hard on him. If he’s just flailing to find a way to connect with her, when his heart objects to anything that might sully her perfect image, then his actions have a much less sinister cast to them. I stand by my statements that he’s completely wrong for Mi-mo, as she needs a man who will be straight with her and not play games, but knowing this about him makes me feel less antagonistic towards him, at least.
As much as I love Soo-hyuk and his quiet, steadfast, one-sided love, I’m ready for him to step up and tell Mi-mo how he feels. I don’t think he’ll do it on his own though, because he’s so caught up in respecting what Mi-mo wants, that he’s prepared to put his own feelings aside forever. I think that Mi-mo is going to have to speak up first, and while it’s a good sign that she now knows how he feels about her, for that to happen she’s got to realize how she feels about him. And she can’t do that until she discovers that what she’s got with Hae-joon isn’t love. So I’m afraid that, as promising as the end of this episode seems, we’re in for another week or even two of Mi-mo being confused, and Soo-hyuk crying to himself. Not that he’s not pretty when he cries, but my poor heart can’t take much more of his pain!

Am I the only one who gets irrationally annoyed when sasaeng throw eggs? I'm just like, "WHAT A WASTE OF GOOD FOOD!"
Sometimes I feel like Soo Hyuk does TOO much; he's always there, always watching. It feels stalkerish. And I like him!
It was nice to see that Hae Joon does actually care about Mi Mo to some degree, seeing as how he immediately rushed out to comfort her and offered to take her away from the horror of the day. But I do like that his ex (who has thankfully reconsidered her position on getting him back) pointed out that in a relationship the focus is always on his own feelings and not the person next to him.
Of the four women, Ae Ran is the one we get the least backstory on. All we know is that Dong Bae is a cheating asshole and while we don't know if she ever cheated on him, she was unable to say that she could be wholly devoted to him. That said, why did he want to marry her so much? Why couldn't they just walk away? Was saving face that important?????
I hope Dong Mi's new relationship goes well and that she comes clean about her age sooner than later. I think it's cute that Geun Hak basically has to court his wife all over again and I hope that Da Jung lets him in. She's the one that pushed him away after all.

I think anyone who ends up with AeRan would have to be someone less traditional regarding love and marriage in order to handle her 'cos that girl ain't normal (as in she think and acts uniquely, not that that's a bad thing). Not saying that DongBae was right or should even be excused for cheating but I really do think that he loved and still loves AeRan. She's just a little too wild and uh... independent/ straightforward/ direct (how do I say this without ticking even me off?) and he didn't know how to handle that.
Was it shown that DongMi lied about her age? Or did I get bonked over the head and forgot? She amused me so much when she suddenly tip toed with the purse and carried it with the tips of her fingers like it were a diaper filled with royal poo.

Should we start a new thread on Ae Ran? ;)
I appreciate it when Dong Bae pointed out that he cheated because of Ae Ran. Girl, we need to make you feel guilty about it so that you can reflect on how you have been living.
And I was laughing like crazy during her dancing scene with Dong Bae! ^^

While cheating isn't a right thing to do, obviously, here it clearly worked: Ae-ran is now interested in Dong-bae. When he was wholly devoted to her and puppy in love, she wasn't that much into him but when he turned the tables, she suddenly is. Seeing him wanted by other women made Ae-ran want him, too.
Women like this exist (some jerks even say all women are like this but let's not go there) which makes me think that whoever is the guy with Ae-ran he needs to keep up his image with other women, too. I'm not saying he needs to outright cheat but Ae-ran needs competition to want a man, it seems and I would guess she actually likes the drama involved in it, too.
I don't think Ae-ran needs to really change her way of living since it seems that Dong-bae is learning how to match her. If they can form a marriage where Dong-bae keep Ae-ran on her toes so that she won't get bored, they could very well succeed.

It would be funny if those women at the wedding are paid by Dong Bae just to show Ae Ran that he's not that easy after all her "didn't get her heart flutter" speech :P

Many guys would go crazy for aeran because she was a girl group member. This causes her to never experience the rejection from men and when she does she wants to run after him.

Hehehehe! I'm totally invested in Dong Mi now! At first, I found her cluelessness about men a bit ridick... Now I find it endearing! Omg! She was hilarious hanging onto Aeran every word hahaha! Carrying that designer bag like a 'Royal diaper filled with poo' hehe! Tiptoeing and all that... I'll bet they'll give her an extreme makeover before the show is thru but I've grown to like her looking so mousy!
Dajung and GH must pull through! They just have to! I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed!
Aeran is so hilarious! How does girl get off thinking she knows all and has everything in the bag! Hehe! Pfft! In a way, Nobody else but her deserves what Dong bae did... Although I really really hate what Dong bae did aka. Cheating.

If the egg's outer shell is cracked (but not the inner membrane), left in a warm environment it will rot reasonably fast.

It's easy to find rotten egg if you asked your friends or neighbor, cause somehow in the corner of your fridge, you can find some old egg you forget.
also maybe take it from some store,
sometimes there's egg that doesn't have good quality from the distribution and rot fast, ofc the shop owner would lgive it

I mean they find a rotten egg by distribution, in small shop, or the forgetful egg in fridge because they don't want to waste the good egg,
it's not a common practice to deliberately make the egg rot,

"I hope Dong Mi’s new relationship goes well and that she comes clean about her age sooner than later."
Previously in the series it was hinted a 25 year old man would come out of the woodwork for her, and I'm sort of wondering if she's lied about her age to seem younger, and he's lied about his age to seem older!

Haha I was thinking the same! It would be funny that this little lie comes from both parties, that it backfires against both of them. It would be a nice way to show that fear regarding love isn't only about aging but also about not being old enough ^^

I know right! I'm like I could make an omelette out of that. Such a waste of eggs.
I think Dong Mi's relationship will work. She is a little immature so it works that he is younger.
I am looking forward to GeunHak and Dajung's reconciliation because it looks like they used to have such a cute and loving relationship before life took its toll.
I also agree that I think Soo Hyuk does too much at times and should take a step back.

Ha, Conan was hilarious.
Someone mentioned in a comment on an earlier episode about how the children were seemingly left on their own, but I want to know -- who's feeding/walking Ppoppo???? I wish they showed a dogsitter or mentioned in passing that Minwoo was doing it, just to put my mind at ease.

1. In yesterday's episode when mi mo had to let min woo down - she did the right thing but it hurt a bit
2. regardless of what emotional conflict hae joon is going through it is odd that his first reaction is 'don't touch my girl' rather than 'why is she unconscious in the ER'
3. Are k fans really that scary in real life?
4. I cringed hard for Conan
5. Seon soo's reaction to hae joon confession was really mean. Is it really so hard to say I'm sorry but I don't return your feelings. ' How can you do that to your friend' is a really mean spirited way to respond. Even worse is 'now you've gone and made things awkward'
6. Da Jung and her husband make my heart hurt
7. Ae ran I think was just served up a dose of her own. She and her hubs will be fine I think
8. Good luck dong mi!

I actually don't mind Seon Soon's reaction to Hae Joon's confession. When he reacted with surprise to her rejection, saying that she had been so nice to him, she knew she had to nip that shit in the bud. I've heard so many Nice Guys (tm) say, "But she was so nice to me!"

It's like, throwing eggs is like the 'standard' of haters/antis. Some are waaayyyy worse.
Fan-gifts for instance, Hallyu idols could get fan-letters to latest MacBook to luxury branded/designer stuff to unnamed-star-to-be-named-after-them (Yes, the star up there in the sky). So, the ones extreme can be very extreme too in terms of hating.

Oh my god!!His reaction in the hospital was what killed whatever slim chance there was for me to ever like this guy, in terms of rooting for him to get hos own happy ending, because doesn't know he won't end up with Mi Mo.I don't know if it's the way he is written or the way the actor portrays the character, but i swear he looks like 50% brat and 50% sociopath to me.In the begining i thought he was being thoughtful and a good friend, but now everytime he's on screen his cold, robotic demeanor just gives me the creeps. And with Soo Hyuk being positevely the best male lead character i have seen in a drama ever, i think the contrast is making things even worst for that character. On another note, i would be so in if they made a drama whith Da Jeung's story line.Or i will take anything with her as a lead! She is awesome! For number 3, i sincerely hope it's not a 100% realistic portrayal. It was like that in Best Love too and it was really disturbing.

With regards to #5, I don't think it was completely mean.
Hae Joon had literally pulled the 'this girl is nice to me, which means she's into me'
- and sometimes with guys like that you have to let them down hard, or else it won't get through to them.
Its also paralleling their current situation; in that Soo Hyuk didn't stay quiet about it to Hae Joon; and though he hasn't 'told' Mi Mo, he has made it awkward for him a Hae Joon.

Ae ran: I love how we get a continuation of Ae Ran story here! Should we get more? ;)
Da Jung: Geun Hak is makin a move here~ That little kid is so innocent and pure & I just want him to be happy with his parent again :')
Dong Mi: I'm a little bit curious on her chemistry with the new guy. Something is missing but probably because we only get a few of her scenes.
Mi Mo: She's been holding her tears for sometime but when Soo Hyuk started asking about her opinion on the article, she just cried. I know that feeling, the need to stay strong, been holding back tears & you only need a person to make you let the tears out. :')
I love it when Soo Hyuk explain what they can do & the consequences of it. But still, its up to Mi Mo to decide what she wants. He always put her feelings first in any situation.
Hae Joon:
I have to give credit to Yeon Soo for being the Voice of Reason here (I'll forgive you for momentarily trying to chase Hae Joon back). The fact that "she makes me smile" can give a different perspective. I never thought that sometime it can reflect the self-centeredness in us. But I guess as Yeon Soo has been knowing him for sometime, it's easy for her to point it out for him. (This is the importance of her character). The writer is doing a good job here in giving us different perspective.
I'll be rooting for development in Hae Joon's character.
Mi Mo is playing her role as a damsel in distress now (cliche scene), but can we get her to kick some ass while trying to help Soo Hyuk with his career? Hey, we need some character development for her right? :)

The fact that the commencement of their relationship and marriage and their divorce were all Yeon Soo's initiative and HJ just went along with it and the same thing happened with MM starting their relationship... What does that tell about HJ ? He is kind or has pity towards women who love him? Look at that high schooler who is crushing on him and how he deals with her, for example? I'm not saying he's not self-centredness but I kinda don't see self-centredness in those individual acts... But I agree it could be construed in many different ways, right?

OK, now that Soo Hyk has gone to great lengths to save Mimo in her distress, at his own detriment, the lightbulb is turned on and she's moved to tears. It is an inevitability that she'll fall for him. So going forward, where'll the suspense in this narrative be?
Sb suggested last time that SH is stalkerish. Well, he lives right across the hall from her; and her troubles are intertwined with his work from the start. He can't help but know what's going on in her life. Just that he cares enough to put her first in every instance, whereas HJ is too busy, too jealous or too cool to offer the concern that she needs.

I think the plot isn't about whether they get together. The show is about second chances. And it's a mature show. It recognizes that to have a second chance work out, you need to figure out what went wrong the first time around and learn your lessons. Relational succes isn't only about finding the right person. It's also about being the right person.
So both the plot and suspense for all the couples rest in how they overcome their current issues / emotional barriers so they can have their happily ever after with each other.
SH has been terrified of both commitment and causing harm to someone he loves. He's overcome his fear of commitment. Now his fear of harming his partner leads him to be overprotective. His protectiveness has been nice and romantic now, but it'd be smothering once a relationship was established. And it might be what's holding MM back.
On the other hand, MM thinks that the most important thing in relational success is to secure her own happiness first. That's only 1/2 right. It's good not to make someone else responsible for ensuring your happiness. You're responsible for that. But focusing primarily on maintaining your own happiness will destroy a relationship.
Metaphorically they've shown she ends up throwing rocks at the 'fish in her pond'. Her self focus has that effect on her partner's emotions.
She thinks of herself as a person who's unafraid to hold back in love and disregards the risks. In reality she is a consumer of the emotional buzz that the initial flush of love gives. But once it wears off she has no consistency.
She needs to learn that in a relationship you need to put your focus on doing what's best for the other person. Living for their happiness, not your own. (Important context: This only - reemphasize ONLY - works when both people are doing it. And when it isn't done in a patronizing 'I know what's best for you' way.) The reason SH is a good long term match for MM is that he already is making his choices based on what will genuinely build her happiness.

Ok, don't laugh but I wondered early on if the women at Ae-ran/Dong-bae's wedding and the request for an open marriage had been a set-up by Dong-bae to get Ae-ran to think of him in a different (more interesting/exciting "bad boy") light. I know, I know, it doesn't make any sense but he seemed like he really loved her and then he talked her into a year-long trial marriage, so I figured he was going to try to spice things up and woe her. Then the many ex's showed up (seriously, do ex's go to ex's weddings, especially if it was a cheating situation?) and the request of an open marriage - say what? So I wasn't surprised at AR/DB's meeting today - I'd been expecting it, but alas, his confession of cheating has killed my theory. I love Ae-ran and think Dong-bae is cute as can be but gah...it is hard to root for a multi-time cheater...
I really enjoy this show and am emotionally invested in almost all of the characters. I am so ready for Mi-mo and Soo-hyuk to confess. Can you imagine the look on Soo-hyuk's face if Mi-mo says something first?

It's not that Hae Joon can't see the difference between past Mi Mo and the present one (even if that was the case, that isn't his bigest problem), but rather he doesn't know how to give. Just like what his ex wife said to him. He is way too self centered which has been shown several times. Everything he does in a relationship is to satisfy himself instead of caring for his partner regardless of the situation.

Agree. I still think she's just a trophy to him.
But I did appreciate that they gave his relational dysfunction an explanation this episode. How SS handled his confession was astonishingly selfish and cold. She had to have known he was interested, and she had willingly received his gestures of affection. But when he confessed, she had no regard for his feelings. Her only selfish concern was about how his declaration might hurt her and SH.
With an early emotional scar like that it's easy to see why he's closed himself off emotionally and is desperate to build his image through a good career and having a trophy wife. And understand his latent competitiveness with SH.
Still, YS really is an ideal match for him. She's incredibly well grounded and patient with him.

Oh man.. we're in the angst period, but we have been for a while now. Even though there's a lot of not knowing and loving her from afar, the pace of the show doesn't upset me as much as i thought it would. I think besides MiMo differentiating between SH and HJ's love, her self-discovery is kind of a part of it too. She might be naive and loves the other person whole-heartedly, but if she discovers that if you're loved by the right person, you become a different and better you.
Even though I'm okay with the pace the show is going with, my heart can't help but break, not only for SH, but also for his son!! That kid, I swear... he can break me with those eyes. And I think that in order for him to be happy, his dad's happiness has to come first.
AR and DB's love story, even though it's hard to root for a cheater, since that trust is hard to gain, I can't help but love them both and hope that they will love each other, because they balance each other out. THEY'RE BOTH CRAZY.
The noona romance!! I LOVE IT!! DM really deserves to be appreciated and know that she is beautiful and that she is loved.
Finally, DJ and her husband. I hope that they find their love for each other again. It's sad that you love a person that much but can't do anything but watch her from afar because of all the scars in the past.

I actually think noona romance is the best thing that could happen to Dong-mi. She always feel so inferior to everyone so if she were to date a guy with desired credentials (handsome, older, has money, good job etc.) she'd just feel lower to said guy in every possible way. And that is not healthy in a relationship. The guy might be a good guy who does not want to walk over her but someone always belittling herself will eventually wear the other party down and I think the guy might not be able to handle Dong-mi's inferiority complex at the end.
In this case being older gives Dong-mi automatically some power in the relationship. She still seems shy and timid so the guy will most likely be the leader but because age does matter in Korea, Dong-mi will have a bit more equal standing with the guy than if he was older then she.
Looks promising.

In addition, compare her reaction to the New (Cute) Guy vs ex (Playboy) Boyfriend. She was enamored with the latter as soon as she laid eyes on him but she seems scared/unsure with the former, even when he's the one initiating skinship (arms around her).
I think she never thought about romance with a younger guy is possible so I look forward to this new pair!

I guess it's hard to write a rom-com about staying in a relationship than finding one...

Those poignant scenes are done so well by Jung Kyung Ho... how his voice sort of melts and how careful and delicate he sounds? lol I'm getting carried away...
If her idol status was what's stopping Hae Joon, he's not as cold as I originally assumed. But still, even in the hospital situation, instead of worrying about Mi Mo, his first reaction? Get away from my girl.. I don't like him..

I have one request. Can we have a few more scenes with Min Woo in it?? He's just too cute to ignore.
Loving all the development of our four girls' love life. DJ and hubby is making me feel all the warm. AR and DB is just pure gold LOL couple. And I wish DM will find her noona romance ???
And I wonder what's the purpose of SH going to the police station when eventually he had to find out from his assistant about the situation. Is it the editing? Or just something else?

Thanks lollypip! They better bring the funny back next week, no more crying for SH... can't help but fall in luv w/ his character, his definition of love is spot on, about putting the other first... his main concern has always been MM, he's trying hard to hold back, but it shows, and that's lovely...

Jung kyung ho keeps making me fall in love with his characters! When he was gently telling Mimo about the article that he wants to publish and his reasons for writing (for her not to get even more hurt even if she will be in the spotlight once again and how everything he does is done while thinking of her needs) was one of the most romantic scenes ever. Then that scene at the hospital and the line: lets fight later, right now all i can see is her. Just ruin me for any other men why dont you! For anyone in need of more JKH, i highly recommend falling for innocence: hes mean at first but JKH has a special gift for making his characters really adorable (and hot!) despite everything. Or maybe im just biased hehe.

Oh the pain that Soo Hyuk is going through. At the hospital scene i felt putting my hand through the TV and smacking Hae Joon in the head. Oh i don't like him.
The ending i have in my head,
DJ and her husband reconcile
Ae Ran also reconciles with her husband
Dong Mi finally gets that love, even if the guy is younger
and Mi Mo chooses Soo Hyuk.

I love this episode. My heart ache with Soo Hyuk, yes it caused my chest to feel like its breaking but dont worry I'm still here my heart is still beating. So I do hope Mi mo will accept Soon Hyuk though I like Haejoon too if not for his self centered attitude. This drama is becoming my favourite kdrama at the moment. As for Dong Mi, she should have a makeover fast, I can't stand her frizzy and frazzled look. Min Woo, I love this kid, so matured more than the adults. Conan O'Brien cameo was hilarious. Can't wait for the next episode.

Oh, you gotta watch this. There are dramas that I only read the recap (and enjoy it too tbh), but this is really worth-watching. The emotions those actors are playing is too good to see only in still pictures. Soohyuk's pale face when crying, Dajung's struggle after surgery, Mimo's panic when Soohyuk was attacked, Aeran-Dongbae's fighting/dancing, and so on, they're definitely worth-watching :D

WATCH IT. I love when an actor can make me feel and believe what I see, not just a pretty face or a "big name". Kyung Ho is, in my book, a VERY talented actor with lots of charisma and who gives each of his characters a certain distinction. I believe he's gaining more fans each time and of course he's such a handsome guy *-* SooYoung is so lucky! Give it a try cause I believe he's got serious chemistry with Jang Nara!!

Everyone's already said, but wow, that hospital scene. JKH was just heartbreaking! Seriously, how did he manage to look as if all the blood had drained from his face like that?! And when I realized he was connecting the current situation with his wife's death, I just about died T____T

Yea! How the scenes transit to that was impressive too - he really looked worn out with semi swollen eyes as if he's really been worrying at someone's bedside for a while.
It really made his breakdown more deeply heartfelt because you could almost feel the build-up of his emotions to it.

Conan O'Brien's appearance was HILARIOUS. Amidst all the angst and tears, some laughter was needed.
Even though I HATE it when dramas forcibly paint one guy in a perfect light and the other in a bad one just to get us root for the lead guy, SSH is one hell of bloke.

HJ is shown to make an effort though - when he comes over to see MM after their fight (that time she sleeps over at SH's ... hehe) or when we cancels his afternoon appointments to rush to MM after the scandal breaks. It's just that he doesn't seem to quite get her in spite of everything (and also puts his own needs and interests before hers - unlike SH).

1. Kyung is just amazing!! he broke my heart when he was crying I could feel his pain!!!
2. Conan was awesome!! yeah the scene was weird but It is Conan we are talking about!!! I love him!!!
3. "The fight/dance scene" was hilarious. I didn't like his excuse though, but I think they can make it work
4. DJ and her husband, I need them to talk!!! it's time for the husband to move his cards and win his wife back!!
I need wednesday ASAP

Seriously Doctor, read the room! I was furious when he smacked Soo Hyuk's hand away from Mi-mo while she was unconscious and he literally looked like death! Even if you hate the man, look at the circumstances and stop being so petty! She was passed out and he was obviously so scared and beyond himself. I kept waiting for the doctor to be like "omg, what happened?! Thank you for bringing her to the hospital!"

Gross question alert!
Are snot tears common? (I was kinda grossed out in one screen shot during SH's confession in the previous episode.)
I have cried. I have seen other people cry. But, unless, there's cold or something, it's usually just the eyes that overflow.
It's only in K-dramas that I have seen super-runny noses (sometimes with snot et al) in crying scenes. Therefore, the curiosity.

Yes, it is common. I am not a Korean, or even an Asian, but whenever I see someone in a TV show that cries heavily only with perfect little tears dropping, it looks unrealistic to me.
Here is a link that explains why our noses get runny when we cry.

wha...? you mean, all these while you been crying without snot? my cries come with the snot, they're an inseparable combo.
for me, crying without snot is how you "act" crying. crying with snot is "real" tears.
have you seen any kmovies? not only you have snot tears, sometimes you get snot+saliva too (makes it seem real you know)

Dongbae and Aeran's scene was gold!! Proves that the writers still have to comedic streak into them. Show it more often please hahaha
And the last line of our two leads got me.

They're star-crossed in a way, and it's unfortunate.
I think it's all for the better, though. Because of Soo Hyuk's indecision and Mi Mo's short attention span, they've both grown a little and come to realize what they lack.

Cause: Conan O'Brien popped out of nowhere in a Korean drama. IN A KOREAN DRAMA. (Said user has watched a lot of Conan O'Brien interviews on YouTube. May have a slight interest on aforementioned Conan O'Brien. Definitely still in shock and is experiencing bouts of unsuppressed laughter after she rose back to life.)
