Oh Yeon-seo courted for Rain’s afterlife drama Goodbye My Beloved

After Kang So-ra turned down SBS’s new fantasy afterlife drama Goodbye My Beloved, the production has been without a potential leading lady to carry what will be the drama’s most difficult role — the heroine who gets possessed by the soul of a middle-aged man. The offer is now out to Oh Yeon-seo (Shine or Go Crazy), who has steadily been headlining dramas in recent years. I don’t have a strong opinion on her because she tends to choose dramas that I don’t watch, but there’s always a first for everything.
Goodbye My Beloved is a remake of the Japanese novel Mr. Tsubakiyama’s Seven Days, about a department store manager who dies of overwork and is granted a short trip back to the living realm in the body of a beautiful young woman. Kim Su-ro (A Gentleman’s Dignity) will play the body-jacking ajusshi, and Rain (She’s So Lovable) will be the love interest who gets tangled up in the funny romance with the heroine and the ajusshi who possesses her.
The production is also courting Lee Min-jung (Sly and Single Again) to play a perfect housewife who’s frugal and affectionate, and takes good care of her father-in-law. Honey Lee (who costarred with Oh Yeon-seo in Shine or Go Crazy) is considering an offer to play an actress who quit working when she married into a chaebol family. She decides to make a comeback ten years later, and has a negative public image to contend with. And finally, Choi Won-young (Twenty Again) has been cast as a divorcé who’s on the fast-track to success.
Right now it’s not clear how all these characters will fit together, but the novel includes other souls with unfinished business who come back at the same time as the lead character, so it’s possible that some of them might be facing ghost-possession as well. Though I’m pretty sure one ajusshi ghost in the body of a young woman will be wreaking enough havoc for all.
Goodbye My Beloved promises to be a tearful-but-funny human drama, and follows Remember—Son’s War on Wednesdays and Thursdays in February.

I've always liked her after seeing her short stint in H.I.T, as well as Returned Earthen Bowl (wonder if many people remember or know that series?)

Is it even confirmed by Rain and Honey lee? I think the female lead should be very capable actress. Her character sounds unusual and very interesting. Perhaps, it's like Ji Sung with his Kill Me Heal Me, the rejected-project by others but surprisingly very suit to him.

Mine too.
I personally prefer Kang Sora to be in the lead and it is a shame she opted out of this drama. I'm still waiting for a catch to reel me back in.

I'd take Kang Sora over OYS too but I'm actually glad she turned it down, I don't know if I really feel a KSR/Rain pairing just based on their acting (really good actors, but not sure how they'll vibe together)

I would also prefer Honey Lee over her.
I think HL would be fantastic in the lead role.
HL has the comedy chops to pull it off...she was great in Tazza2 and she was really funny in Modern Farmer.

Honey Lee was also amazing in Shine or Go Crazy as the rival to this actress' character. Still, I think this actress might be a better fit. She did a good crossdressing stint in the show and had a wide emotional range.

After Rain's last dud I'll have to agree with that. Maybe a step away from the romance roles and maybe try an action role again.
I'm not sure what exactly it is ...but maybe I don't feel any romantic chemistry between Rain and any of his female leads. More of an older brother of friend vibe. To me...Rain is 2nd lead or supporting cast material. Just sayin' his music is okay, his acting...not so much.

I thought he had decent chemistry in that movie he made, Ninja Assassin. But he and Krystal in Loveable Girl? I got nothing. NOTHING. He did an interview with some US channel like CNN or something about K-dramas while he was filming it and I felt like his vibe was just weird. He was talking about the wish fulfillment factor of women who get these awesome men who do so much for them and I kind of felt like he was really focusing on the "pampered princess" aspect of some dramas and completely ignoring all the dramas where a plucky girl wants to succeed on her own merits and not just marry a rich guy. Honestly marrying a "rich" guy in a lot of dramas is more trouble than it's worth and just marrying someone with a decent career like a doctor or lawyer is plenty!

It looked and I was thinking of watching it till I read that Rain was the lead... I honestly don't like his acting. The only drama I liked of his was Full House.
Has he been confirmed for the role already?
If I end up watching this drama it'll be thanks to Honey Lee! Love that girl! She has this zazz that keeps me hooked.

Honey Lee is fabulous in whatever you put her in. Rain? NOt so much. Kang So Ra was his/his management company's choice for the role but even she probably noticed that Rain has the potential to make a good actress look bad (chemistry-wise). He's not going anywhere unless there's a PD change or something like that. Unless netzens start raising h--l.

I would love to see Ha Jiwon. She has experience with this type of character and she could make chemistry happen with a rock. I don't mind Rain's acting. I knew better than to watch She's So Lovable, but he was good in Full House and Runaway Plan B.

I'm really excited for oh yeon seo. Kang so ta is one of my fave too with very good acting skill but she lacks chemistry with her male leads while oh yeon seo is very godd with her co star.
Love all the female leads but Rain. I'm a bit skeptical about him

Well i was a bit sad when i heard so ra rejected the offerr but i'm back anticipating this drama again if Oh Yeon Seo is the female lead. I really like her and hoping that she now can get the chance to do a romantic drama.
A bit meh about honey lee though... But with all these female casting it's def a flower garden casting. Lucky Rain
