Food manhwa God of Noodles greenlighted as KBS spring drama
by javabeans
There’s nothing inherently funny about a food-related drama about making noodles, except that it’s titled God of Noodles (or Noodle God?) and those are just two words that sound funny when you put them together.
It’s a manhwa adaptation and the series has already secured a time on KBS’s spring schedule: It’ll be a Wednesday-Thursday drama that follows the big Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-gyo doctors-working-abroad drama Descended From the Sun. If nothing else, I’m glad to have confirmation that Descended From the Sun is still on schedule, because it had been announced so early and pushed back a couple times (because it’s going to be 100 percent pre-produced) that I wasn’t entirely sure we could count on it to make the spring lineup. (It’s currently on track for a February premiere.)
God of Noodles comes from manhwa artist/creator Park In-kwon, a prolific artist who’s already made the leap to television successfully in the past with adapted dramas War of Money, Daemul, and Yawang. My initial thought was that God of Noodles sounds a lot lighter than those dramas were, but the description says that the hero is a man who undergoes “harsh training” to hone his “God-given noodle-making talents” for the sake of revenge. It doesn’t tell us what prompts it, but he takes up the revenge in his teacher’s stead, so I’m assuming his teacher suffers some big betrayal.
I know, I know, it sounds silly when you write it out like that, but I can kind of imagine the tone based on those previous dramas, which weren’t at all slapstick or jokesy. Okay, I’m still having a little trouble treating noodle-crafting with heightened drama and importance, but hey, it’s not like I haven’t heard of weirder premises.
God of Noodles will premiere in April on KBS.

"hero is a man who undergoes “harsh training” to hone his “God-given noddle-making talents” for the sake of revenge."
gosh, I'm having montage visions of Tampopo's noodle making mixed with sumo training, Baker Kim Tak Gu's deep breathing before the flour and a new wire-fu display of killer noodle strangulation....

Can Doojoon and Seulgi be the main?! I'm still not over my feels for these two yet after Splish Splash just ended for me!!!!!! TTTT
And because of Let's Eat, I automatically associated any food related dramas with Doojoon!! Deulgi would be an extra spice to boot!!!

Yoon Doo-joon and Kim Seul-gi have just landed on my list of Drama Couples Who Need To Work Together Again, NOW.
Other people currently on the list (in descending order of how badly I want to see them):
1. Ji-soo/Jung Eun-ji (Sassy Go Go)
2. Lee Won-geun/Jung Eun-ji (Sassy Go Go)
3. So Ji-sub/Gong Hyo-jin (Master's Sun)

It could be like King of Baking Kim Tak Goo. The drama premise was similar that bread will decide their fate. But look how serious and great it turned out.
I am looking forward to this.
PS: So what happens to Lightly, Ardently?

The manhwa poster gives me a Yakitate!Japan vibe so maybe it's going to have the same atmosphere?
I this this can work wonderfully with the right cast and witty script. I'll be waiting.

Watching this and it's actually really good! People are just overreacted with DOTS, so they expect nothing with this drama. The cinematography, the casts, acting, really cool!
Main hero lost his parents thanks to an evil guy called Kim Gil-do who's an expert of stealing identity of others. Gil-do stole our hero's father's name and ability to make noodles. He killed the parents, but our hero managed to survived and grew in an orphanage. He befriended 3 other kids, and met Gil-do again after years, and finally started to get revenge.
I think the meaning of "God of Noodles" is he is trying to show what is "real noodles" created by heart and ability, not because he steals recipes.
This drama is worth to watch, guys!
