Kim So-hyun reunites with I Hear Your Voice writer

Okay, before you get too excited (I’ll admit it, I flailed a little), this new drama is a short 3-episode drama special. But I’m excited about the team-up anyway, because writer Park Hye-ryun (Pinocchio, I Hear Your Voice, Dream High) always delivers fantastically lovable characters and heartfelt stories that grab me. This time she’s tapped I Hear Your Voice alum Kim So-hyun to headline her new drama special for KBS, called Page Turner.

The coming-of-age story is about youths who experience an unfortunate accident and begin to live completely different lives from the ones they’ve known. Kim So-hyun has signed on to play the leading character, a geeeeeenius pianist. She’s a concert pianist hopeful with a natural gift, who wins first place at all her competitions. But she’s also an average teen with a mother who’s living vicariously through her daughter’s accomplishments.

She’ll get into an accident with an athlete who has “a personality like a bulldozer,” and they’ll both face complete 180-degree turns in their futures, and grow up in the process. Once she loses everything in the accident, she’ll learn to live a new life with the help of someone who sticks to her side like a wad of gum, and a rival. That sounds like more than the average share of growing pains, but I’m sure that we’ll get a heaping dose of silver lining along with that.

Kim So-hyun is one of the most talented young actresses out there, and she’s just been getting better with every project she’s been taking on. I can only hope that she’ll follow this (and her many movie projects) with another headlining role in a full-length drama, preferably again with this writer. Now as for costars, what’re the odds you could put a hold on production till Yook Sung-jae is done with Village: Secret of Achiara? He doesn’t seem very busy on that set. Just sayin’.

Directing is PD Lee Jae-hoon (Jung Do-jeon, Good Doctor), and Page Turner is being prepared for an early 2016 broadcast on KBS.

Ji-soo would be perfect Not just for the cute but because he and Kim So-hyun can both be really intense AND really cute at the same time, and they'd play beautifully off each other as actors, just saying.

shame it's only three episodes but I do hope he'll book a full-length drama as OTP with Jung Eunji someday. The drama gods should make up for some of the recent crappy casting news by actually giving us good ones like these too.

Haha at all the odds, KSH and KYJ is destined to share one guy thru out their projects and usually at the same time or one after another shows completed. Is universe's rule.

After KYJ played with Ji Soo in angry mom (not loveliness, but they're team), now KYJ passed the baton to KSH to handle Ji Soo. lol.

It'll be damn funny if KYJ will has new project with Nam Joo Hyuk or Yook Sung Jae

Really looking forward to this drama special! I hear your voice is one of my fave dramas so I have hope that this drama will be interesting! Also Kim Sohyun is a great actress! As for the male lead, it's been reported that Kim Jisoo (from angry mom, sassy go go) has been cast for it!! So I'm even more excited because he's amazing at portraying his characters, it's so great to see him getting cast more often now (although I would like to see him play a role that's not related to a school focused drama). I wonder how his chemistry with sohyun will be like!

Ji Soo though... omg that needs to happen before I even post this comment. They'd be so amazing together in what sounds like a really promising story. I've only completed one Park Hye-ryun drama (that being Dream High) and she's such an awesome writer. Poignant emotions and rich characters are her trademark so I'm really looking forward to this. For the record, the only reason I haven't been able to complete her last two dramas is she cast a male lead I can't tolerate. Her writing though, has been terrific.

I Hear Your Voice was, is definitely one of the better dramas out there, but I agree LJS is quite bland at least PSH wasn't her usual bland self in Pinnochio, so yeah you can give that a try too.

I can't say anything bc I'm his fan, it might sound biased :'D but I noticed him on Secret Garden, then found him amazing on School 2013. (pardon this fangirl) XD

What have I watched? Hmm, let's see now... School 2013, Dr. Stranger, High Kick, Face Reader, Hot Blooded Youth, some of IHYV and some of Pinocchio and maybe some more that I can't bother remembering. And in ALL of them, he was exactly what I described him to be. We can go back and fourth in this but really, I'm not here to change your mind. So I hope you aren't aiming for that either because it won't work.

As for my favs, there are tons and I'll name them just to be courteous (since you asked). If we'll be playing the comparison game, I'm out :) Kim Soo-Hyun, Hyun Bin, Go Soo, Jang Geun-suk, Park Hae-jin, Lee Sung-min, Jo Jong-suk and prob a dozen and a half more.

Waah you've watched quite many of his works :D I know that you didn't mean to change my mind. And nope, I'm not interested in comparison game either.

Actually I feel the same as you, but in my case is Ha Ji-won. I can't say that Ha Ji-won's acting is mediocre, but Idk why I can't enjoy her acting. She's bland for me -_- I just skimming Secret Garden, curious cause people said it's good, but I can't watching fully bc of her. Even on Empress Ki. But I think I will watch Empress Ki for Ji Chang-wook.

I think that when we can't enjoy the actors, we can't enjoy the dramas fully. Then we tend to missed good dramas. People said that Secret Garden + Empress Ki were good, but I can never finish them.

@maknaee - You know? I absolutely adore HJW but I actually agree with you that she's a tad overrated. I don't find her bland per se, just maybe a bit repetitive. I see HJW every time I watch her similar to how I see GHJ in every role even if she's fantastic. It's their mannerism and the way they deliver dialogues I think. If you really wanted to try to get rid of your HJW aversion, I'd suggest K2H because it's where I found her most lovable. But I wouldn't hold my breath on it, usually if I don't like an actor, it takes a whole lot of effort (which doesn't even work half the time) to get over that hurdle lol.

And yes definitely. In the end, I mostly enjoy dramas where actors can convince me of whatever they portray on screen. There are a few odd ones where it's so good that even bad/bland acting doesn't fray me but it's not very often.

bad acting (can be subjective) doesn't save bad writing, ruin good writing. when good acting saves bad writing, make good writing be a wonderful drama.

Dream High (My first drama, one that got me addicted into kdramas) , I Hear Your Voice, Pinocchio are in my top 10, three of Park Hye-run dramas are on my list T_T

Yoon Sung-jae, totally! And three episodes are manageable since he's indeed not been doing much in Village.
As for Ji-soo, yes please, but I kind of don't want to get my hopes up, avoiding any heartbreak. At leeeeeast let it be someone who can match Kim So-hyun's immense talent, even for just a tiny bit.

Yep, I second that. I found NJH and KSH so shippable and adorable despite the fact that the writing had a lot left to be desired. NJH's busy though with Cheese and now that Ji Soo is in my head, I can't get rid of the thought that they'd be perfect.

Nam Joo-hyuk's ok if he isn't pushed beyond the range of what he can do - his role as Big in Surplus Princess? That was ideal for him since it's cute and likable and the female lead can easily (in that case, it was Kim Seul-gi) cover for his deficiencies.

He didn't actually start having problems in School 2015 until the drama decided it wanted to give him some backstory and make him emote.

For reals. What is up with Jisoo being in dramas-that-are-too-short?! Sassy Go Go could've been 16 eps, too, for all I know. (But this is a Yeol-Yeon doo shipper here.)

How about Kim So Hyun - Yoo Seung Ho? I was touched the most by these two in Missing You (They didn't share a scene back then, she played young Zoe, and he played adult Harry though).

I first thought "Isn't he way too old to play her love interest?!" and then looked him up and remembered that he's only 22! Only 2 years older than me! And around the same age as KSH's other love interests recently.

I'm so used to actors being in their late 20s or even early 30s when they come back from army duty, and Yoo Seung Ho grew up so much when he was gone.

The funny part is that Yoo Seung-ho was actually closer in age to the child actors of I Miss You (6 and 4 year gap with Kim So-hyun and Yeo Jin-gu respectively) than to his adult costars in the same drama (9 and 7 year gaps with Yoon Eun-hye and Yoochun).

yeah, she's already a star, but she's one more successful project away from becoming a bona fide teen superstar (she carried School 2015 but the drama just did not do her justice, I doubt I'd have cared as much about Eun-bi if a lesser actress had been playing her).

Yes Kim So Hyun is very attractive, but that's not why I like her. I was really impressed when she played the younger character that Lee Bo Young later played in I hear Your Voice. She showed so much strength in that role that I could feel every emotion, whether it was being lied about by her ex friend to her going to court to testify against the terrifying bad man in the show.

I'll have to admit that show had great characterization, acting and directing. I totally missed some of the minor plot problems that the show had. It always helps when you have a really good villain. And the villains in Oh My Ghostess, Shining Inheritance, and Sensory Couple are some of the best I've seen, and that sure adds to the story.

Anyway, enough babbling, looking forward to this mini-series and hope to enjoy whoever her co-star is, and since I play the piano myself, it will hopefully be a treat!

Yook Sungjae is actually too busy, beside the drama he's doing WGM and hosting too... As much as I loved him and Sohyun in School 2015 I wouldn't want them to pair up again. I'm a fan of him and the shippers of Sungjae-Sohyun and Sungjae-Joy (his WGM partner) are getting on my nerves. They'll divide the boy into two if they can.

Also heard that Ji Soo is involved. Yay if it's true. But I admit that I would be more excited if Yook Sung Jae magically gets casted. That would be awesome.
