Sassy Go Go: Episode 7
by LollyPip
Just when things seem about to calm down at school and Real King and Baek Ho are getting along, midterm season comes along to throw everyone into a tizzy. Things go pear-shaped when people act out of character from the stress, but new loyalties offer support from unexpected directions. Everyone seems to be changing, many for the better, but some definitely for the worse.
EPISODE 7 RECAP
The kids put on their first cheerleading performance, with Teacher Yang in the audience, trying to stay on the down-low. They put on an impressive show, finishing with signs that they flip over to reveal their true message: “We Lied.” “Teacher Yang didn’t do anything to me.” The signs ask to have Teacher Yang reinstated, and the kids lead the audience to a supportive chant while Teacher Yang’s eyes fill with tears.
Principal Choi is worried the Ministry officials will be angry, but the man who appears to be in charge simply laughs, saying that Sevit students are pretty sassy. I’ll say.
The kids celebrate afterwards, excited about all the attention their performance drew. Even bespectacled Tae-pyung is all tingly, but their teachers are back to business — they made some mistakes, and they need a lot of practice.
Teacher Yang turns serious, worried that the kids will get in trouble for what they did to support him, and gets choked up again. But Teacher Nam calls it a true cheerleading performance, since they were cheering someone on. Na-yeon and Jae-young both apologize to Teacher Yang, and he easily forgives them.
The kids all look at Soo-ah next — doesn’t she have something to say? But nope, she doesn’t, which is as expected. She even starts a new fight with Yeon-doo, saying that she seems awfully happy, and wondering if she’ll be able to stay that way. Gah, can’t you just let people be happy for five minutes?
Principal Choi comes to chastise Teacher Yang for being here (since he’s still officially fired) and while she’s there, she calls out Yeon-doo, Na-yeon, and Jae-young to her office. Yeon-doo whispers to the girls to blame the whole thing on her. The kids are worried about Yeon-doo being expelled, and interestingly, it’s Ha-joon who chases down the principal and, after giving Yeon-doo a pointed look, admits he was also in on the stunt.
And then Yeol joins him. He says he was also part of the plan, because what happened to Teacher Yang was unfair. Then comes the rest of the team, all ready to take the blame so that Yeon-doo doesn’t shoulder the entire punishment (except Tae-pyung, who tries to claim innocence and gets muffled by Da-mi, hee). I’m not tearing up — there’s just something in my eye.
No fool, and not prepared to expel the top five percent of her school, Principal Choi backs down. Back in her office she recalls the man from the Ministry’s comment that at school, lots of things happen that are out of your control. Being fair in those circumstances is part of being a principal. He’s also said that they would be doing a new investigation into Teacher Yang.
In his dorm, Ha-joon still has the ointment and bandage that Yeon-doo gave him for the injuries his father inflicted, and he smiles at them. Yeol comes in, all grins, and asks what he’ll do if Principal Choi calls his father. Why did he stand up for Yeon-doo? “Just because.” He admits that seeing Yeon-doo makes him feel ashamed not to stand up, as well.
The girls are questioned again about their accusations towards Teacher Yang, admitting now that they lied about any inappropriate touching. Well, Na-yeon and Jae-young admit it, but Soo-ah only comments that she has nothing more to say. Teacher Yang is exonerated, and Principal Choi reluctantly gives him his job back… though she does remind him his contract is almost up, and warns him to stay quiet.
But Yang thinks it’s interesting, how he used to feel small when he thought about wanting to renew his contract. But now that he knows it’s all over in two months, he’s feeling pretty courageous. He warns her in turn, not to even think about transferring Yeon-doo — he won’t make it easy. HA, I love him.
He leaves the principal’s office to find Yeon-doo, Yeol, and Ha-joon there to congratulate him. They invite him to a little picnic of delivery jjajangmyun, willing to risk demerits for ordering food in order to surprise him.
He yells at them for breaking the rules, then tucks into the food, commenting that he picked pretty good disciples. Yeol adorably steals all of Yeon-doo’s radishes, causing Teacher Yang to complain about their flirting, which Yeon-doo hotly denies. It doesn’t escape me that Ha-joon looks a little jealous over there, though it’s unclear just what he’s jealous of.
Later, Yeon-doo and Dong-jae study for midterms, shaking their heads as the highly-ranked students freak out and sabotage each other (since midterms affect rankings). Yeol generously offers his notes to help Yeon-doo study, for a price of course — she has to treat him to food several times. Why don’t you just ask her on a date, silly boy?
Instead he offers to tutor her, and they study together late into the night in the laundry room. HA, Yeon-doo literally falls asleep while Yeol is talking, and claims that it takes skill to come in 196th place.
Yeol asks why she came to this school if it’s so hard, and Yeon-doo sighs that her mom wanted it for her. Sometimes she thinks she should leave, because she’s not doing very well considering the expensive tuition, and she worries she won’t get into college. Yeol promises to get her a few notches up in ranking.
He notices a little cat charm on her phone, which she says is her lucky charm. Without it, she feels like she’ll do even worse, and possibly lose ranking points.
They try to hide when someone walks in, but it’s just Jae-young looking for a place to study, since Soo-ah appropriated their suite’s bathroom. She wonders if Yeol and Yeon-doo are having a secret tryst, but Yeol says it’s more like charity on his part. And you wonder why the girl doesn’t know you like her?
The next day the Baek Ho and Real King kids all study together in their room, even helping each other and grinning when Tae-pyung and Hyo-shik bicker amiably. Yeol points out how well they’re all getting along, and the Baek Ho girls ask the Real King kids’ rankings. But there’s no derision at hearing the low rankings, and everyone seems to really enjoy each other’s company.
Except Soo-ah, of course, who gripes at the noise. She storms from the room just as her nose begins to gush blood, and Teacher Yang sees and stops to help. He sweetly asks her to care for her health, but she turns on him, barking that she doesn’t feel at all apologetic towards him. She got demerits and is an outcast now, of course blaming him and not her own actions.
But Teacher Yang sees right through her, and tells her so. He offers to talk any time she needs it, and looks frustrated when she declines.
Yeon-doo gets the yawns during another tutoring session, nodding off while he watches, and he uses his notebook to shield her face from the sun. He leaves her to her nap, crinkling to himself, and we see that he used all their books to set up a fortress around her. He also left a note stuck to her forehead, asking her out to a movie after midterms. Every time I think he can’t get any cuter…
In class later, Yeol watches nervously for any indication that Yeon-doo wants to go out. He texts her, then motions her to check her phone, but Teacher Yang is pacing right next to her desk. She finally sees the text asking why she hasn’t answered his question, but immediately gets her phone confiscated until after midterms. She’s mostly worried about her cat charm and chases Teacher Yang out of the room, leaving Yeol hanging.
Yeol follows her out and watches her whine about her cat charm, blaming him for getting her phone snatched. She refuses to answer his question, and only snaps that it will be his fault if she loses a rank.
Figuring he needs to get her phone back if he wants that date, Yeol plans to sneak into the teachers’ lounge at lunch. At the last second, he stops himself, wondering why he’s thinking of doing something this crazy… then he remembers Yeon-doo worrying about taking the midterms without her charm, and in he goes.
He quickly finds the phone, but has to scramble to hide when another teacher comes in, but he’s instantly caught. He quickly palms the charm and puts the phone back, and leaves victorious.
He finds Yeon-doo in the cafeteria, but he’s interrupted by Hyo-shik, who comments on how often these two are together lately. Hyo-shik pulls out his phone and pretends to hold an interview, asking about the truth of their relationship, but gets chased off by Yeon-doo. Yeol though, calls out for him to come find him later and he’ll tell the truth.
Even Teacher Im notices how hard Yeon-doo is studying lately, though she groans at her low grade on the most recent essay test. Yeol made the highest grade, again, which upsets Soo-ah as she’s been told in no uncertain terms to make sure she’s Number One this time.
She corners Teacher Im to ask why she got a lower grade than Yeol, arguing that originality is subjective. She demands to see Yeol’s essay, and when Im’s knocked to the ground by a couple of Real King students and chases them, leaving his belongings scattered, Soo-ah snatches up his USB (which is, hilariously, a teddy bear).
Teacher Im goes nuts later looking for it, and the lady teacher who caught Yeol in the office wonders if he took it. Teacher Yang entreats Im to wait and look a bit more before accusing Yeol, but Im is too angry to listen.
Meanwhile Soo-ah plugs the USB into her laptop, startled to see the English midterm, and she quickly downloads it and throws away the USB. She overhears the teachers discussing Yeol having possibly stole the USB and goes back for it, as she remembers her mother and tutor hammering home what a threat Yeol is to her academic status.
She gos to the study room, and slips the USB into Yeol’s bag while nobody is looking. Okay, now I’m officially done with you.
So when Teacher Im barges in to accuse Yeol of stealing, the USB is found in his bag, though Yeol claims to have never seen it before. The kids are all shocked to think Yeol may have stolen the midterm exam, but poor Yeol insists he’s innocent.
Teacher Im starts an investigation, calling Yeol’s father to the school. Yeon-doo hears about this after the fact, and sees Yeol becoming an instant pariah with the other students, who now assume he’s only ranked first because he’s been cheating. Even the Baek Ho and Real King kids believe it, all except for Ha-joon and Yeon-doo.
Yeon-doo admonishes them for badmouthing Yeol when he’s not here, accusing them of being happy because their rankings could go up. She cries that they should know Yeol by now, that he’s not someone who steals. Can’t they, of all people, trust him?
The investigation begins, and Yeol’s father asks for proof that he stole the USB. Unfortunately, he’s the only person seen on the CCTV entering the office, and the USB was found in his bag in front of witnesses — it’s pretty damning. The principal suggests a twenty-day suspension, but his dad asks for thirty days’ community service instead, and a chance to take make-up exams later. Not to mention, a hefty donation to the school.
At that, Yeol scoffs, and complains bitterly that they never even asked him any questions. He didn’t get a chance to defend himself before they declared him guilty.
As Yeol leaves school for his punishment, Ha-joon is the only student who walks out with him. But Yeon-doo runs out to catch him, and as his dad watches, she apologizes — she knows what happened, and that this is her fault for having her phone confiscated and causing him to be in the office at the wrong time. Yeol only gives her the cat charm, and wishes her luck on her midterms.
At home, Yeol goes straight to his room, and Dad follows him to say that his was the best he could do in this situation sp as not to ruin Yeol’s future. But to Yeol, that’s the problem — his father always does everything so damned logically.
He doesn’t come out of his room until after dark, where he sees the specter of his young self sitting alone in the dark as his parents scream at each other in the next room. His father accuses his mother of cheating and strikes her, which little Yeol hears clearly.
His mother had left with nothing but the clothes on her back, leaving Yeol alone for two days to fend for himself. It was then that he decided never to trust anyone.
A couple of days later Yeol’s dad has lunch with Yeon-doo’s mom, who’s shocked to hear that he still hasn’t even shared a meal with his son since he’s been home. Dad says that Yeol doesn’t want to eat with him, and Yeon-doo’s mom cuts right to the heart of it — Dad didn’t make it known that he wanted to spend time together, either.
She bluntly tells him that he’s doing this all wrong, by not letting Yeol know that he believes he’s innocent. Yeah, that would be an important detail, Dad. No wonder Yeol is hurt.
Yeon-doo has trouble concentrating on her exams, staring instead at Yeol’s empty seat and writing his name on her paper. After, she wonders why he hasn’t contacted her to let her know how he’s doing.
Yeol spends his days doing his community service at a retirement center, and one day he hears chanting in the courtyard and looks up to see Yeon-doo, entertaining the seniors. Aww, he’s so adorably thrilled to see her.
She admits to him that she didn’t do well on her exams since she lost her tutor, complaining that he wasn’t smart enough to get himself out of this tangle. But his confidence is shaken now that everyone believes he’s only first place because he cheated, so Yeon-doo says that she’ll believe him, no matter what place he holds. Ha, I think she just made Yeol swoon a little.
Back at school that night, Yeon-doo sneaks into the security office to look for the CCTV footage of Yeol in the office, and runs smack into Ha-joon. He yell-whispers at her for doing such a dumb thing, even though he’s here doing that exact same thing, having downloaded the important video.
The clutch each other in fear when a couple of guards hear them and discuss getting the key to check the room. Yeon-doo offers to go out first — as the known troublemaker, she can afford to get caught. But Ha-joon grabs her to stop her, and they tussle long enough that the guards come back.
The hide in a closet and laugh, relieved, when the guards leave. Yeon-doo is ready to go to bed, but Ha-joon nervously calls out to her, asking her to stay and look through the video with him. They stay up late trying to find the video of Yeol entering the office, until Yeon-doo starts to fall asleep.
Ha-joon tries to gently take her pen before she drops it and wakes herself, but she rouses anyway when he touches her hand. Ha, he just puts the pen back, looking awkward and so cute.
Yeon-doo surprises Ha-joon with jajjangmyun, giggling at his surprise and joking that this is why she doesn’t hang out with model students. HAHA, her secret is that she has it delivered to her dorm window. She loves jajjangmyun because her mom won’t let her have it, and Ha-joon admits that he and Yeol ate it a lot as kids because their parents worked a lot.
There’s a little beat of awareness when they both go for the same pickled radish, and Ha-joon remembers Yeol stealing Yeon-doo’s radishes when they ate with Teacher Yang. He lets her have it, and when he reaches for the next one, she grabs that one too. And the next, hee.
The rankings are published, and because of Yeol not having sat midterms, Soo-ah is in first place. Her mother finally tells her she did well, and takes her out for a nice lunch and gives her a new handbag. That night Jae-young and Na-yeon notice the bag and comment on how deep her mother’s pockets must be.
They tell her to enjoy it until Yeol gets back and regains his first place rank, which is news to Soo-ah. They tell her that Yeon-doo is checking the CCTV looking to exonerate Yeol, so Soo-ah runs to the spot where she swiped Teacher Im’s USB. Sure enough, there was a camera pointed right at her. Heading back to her room, she finds Yeon-doo talking about the situation on the phone with Ha-joon, but there’s nothing Soo-ah can say.
Yeon-doo gets a text from Hyo-shik with a video attached, which turns out to be the video that he took asking what their relationship is. But as she watches, she suddenly perks up and whispers, “I found it. The evidence that will clear Yeol’s name!”
At that, Soo-ah turns to stare at Yeon-doo in shock.
COMMENTS
How much do I love Ha-joon as Yeon-doo’s protector and loyal puppy? SO MUCH. All he’s ever needed was for someone to show him some kindness, and he’ll be faithful for life, I’m sure. He’s already got that in Yeol, but one person can’t be everything. One person could be a fluke — but when multiple people show caring and loyalty, you start to develop a sense of self-worth. Ha-joon needs that, and I love that he rewarded her kindness and silence with an offer of his own sacrifice. He really was willing to take the fall with her for their cheerleading stunt with the signs, and I adore that he was the first one to speak up, even before Yeol. He’s a good person, and worthy of friendship — all he needed was for someone to tell him so.
And it’s so wonderful how Yeon-doo is starting to do exactly what I thought she would, with her indomitable spirit and willingness to stand up for her beliefs – she’s starting to inspire others. Ha-joon is only the first of the Baek Ho kids to see what she does and want to be more like her, but he won’t be the last. We’re already seeing the battle line between Real King and Baek Ho blurring, and the kids starting to intermingle and like each other, which is one hundred percent Yeon-doo’s influence. I can’t wait for them to all become true friends.
I just really, really don’t want Ha-joon to fall for Yeon-doo, because I don’t want anything coming between him and Yeol. And it looks like he’s at least experiencing some attraction, and jealousy of her growing relationship with Yeol, which has me a bit worried. Hopefully, since we know that he knows that she’s all but Yeol’s girl at this point, it won’t go any further than a little crush. If anyone understands what it means for Yeol to finally open up and trust another person, it’s Ha-joon. He knows how Yeol feels, and how his feelings for Yeon-doo are changing him for the better. Surely he won’t do anything to ruin that for his best friend and most fervent defender. Right? Right?!
Yeon-doo’s strong moral compass continues to impress, as she took the brunt of the blame for Yeol getting in trouble at school. He was the one who pushed her to answer his text in class, and Soo-ah was the one who framed him, yet Yeon-doo still feels regret that her using her phone in class resulted in his being wrongfully accused and punished. It’s so like her, to feel responsible even when her own involvement was incidental and that others made more conscious choices that led to the situation. But I’m glad it led to her declaring her belief in Yeol, which was a small moment but you could see the look in his eyes that showed what that meant to him. He’s always pretended not to care what anyone thinks of him, but as we learn more about him, we;re seeing how much of a defense mechanism it is. He does care, and it means a lot to have Yeon-doo tell him that she believes in him, no matter what.
Yeol’s story is becoming clearer, and his anger towards his father makes a lot more sense now. Violence is never an answer to a conflict, and for a young boy to hear his father hit his mother would be a life-changing event, even if he hadn’t then been basically abandoned for two days. It’s no wonder he lost the ability to trust anyone, even though it seems that his father may have changed since then based on his kind and tender demeanor when he’s with Yeon-doo’s mom. But if the two have never discussed the problem, it’s no wonder that Yeol is still stuck in that moment of shock and abandonment. And it’s no wonder that it took someone like Yeon-doo, with her blinding loyalty and innate goodness, to make him want to trust someone again.

(sorry for the double post, this comment got mixed up on one of my replies above! :( )
Our OTP still being as swoon-worthy as ever! Aw, just kiss, you two. I’ve been holding out for that to finally happen since episode 1 and 4!
Yeon Doo, still the best girl ever. I’m starting to think she’s too perfect of a heroine, but that’s just because I can’t seem to pinpoint a flaw in this girl (aside from her grades and rebellious streak, which aren’t even necessarily bad things). Nevertheless, I still love her!
Yeol, still the cutest thing alive (despite the Dad angst). At this point I’ve ran out of adjectives to describe how much I adore his cheeky little face.
Soo Ah, still a *bleep*, as always. Wake up, girl! I know there’s a person IN there somehow. She is not irredeemable in my eyes (after all, she’s still just as a young girl who’s as lonely as they come), but I do want her to owe up to her mistakes and get due punishment so she’ll learn her lesson.
Ha Joon, still a puppy that you just want to take home with you. How precious is it that he seems to light up only when he’s around Yeol, and recently, Yeon Doo?
Dong Jae, still in the sidelines. Don’t forget about him, writer-nim. :(
Also, am I the only who isn’t bothered by the parents’ loveline? The way their scenes play out, and how Mom has said time and time again that she’s not ready for marriage yet (since she only wants what’s best for her daughter), is like the writers telling us that there’s no need for alarm if and when they finally find out about their children. I’d like to see how Yeol’s dad will graciously step aside for his son as a way of rekindling their relationship. I can see the possibility of Mom and Dad remaining as very good friends and let their kids be together.
Anyway, even if I’m proven wrong, I just hope that when the time comes, it will be handled well. *fingers crossed*
EDIT: Omg, the next episode though, I have so much to say about it. So much cute! So much feeeeeeeels. I'm starting to lose it I swear this show just gets me. But of course I'll patiently wait until it comes. Hehe. Take your time, dear recappers, and thank you~! :)

Thanks LollyPip!
Lovely show! Lovely, lovely characters (the non-caricature ones). Somehow they ring so true, and feel so real, I just identify with them. For a change, I'm thinking not about the lovable characters, but about the unloved (but still should be loved), Soo Ah.
Where I'm sad: Soo Ah had opportunity upon opportunity to choose the better path, but she has been opportunistic in taking the worse path instead. I feels she has never been really loved, even by her mum. She seems retarded in the area of caring for others, and stymied in her growth or rather spiraling downwards with each decision she makes to protect herself or incriminate others. It's so sad that with all her brains and ability, she is disabled in knowing how to care for others and to receive care in return. It's all 'business' to employ or use others for specific ends without a thought for her long-term peace and happiness.
With 4-5 episodes to go, is it too much to hope that she will have a chance to turn herself around? Perhaps some plot twist will throw her into Yeon Doo's, Ha Joon's or Dong Jae's care and open her eyes to what harm she's doing to herself. *hope!*

Yeah, I felt so bad when I saw some comments on viki telling Soo Ah to kill herself, wishing her cancer, etc. Seems like a lot of people think she's too far gone by ep 8.
But on the other hand, people think it's stupid when villains say "I've gone too far, might as well do this or that..." Of course when a person thinks they have nothing to lose, they will do anything!
No matter how far she has gone, all I think Soo Ah needs is something to lose. What I mean by that is even just a little unconditional friendship, guidance, encouragement and trust by someone, she can turn it all around. Just something to make her see that she deserves more than just presents when she's #1, and scorn when she's not. It will be a PAINFUL road for sure, but tbh she deserves it, and it would be worth it.

Yeah, I felt so bad when I saw some comments on viki telling Soo Ah to kill herself, wishing her cancer, etc
I honestly have no patience with such people because they've obviously never been backed into a corner or experienced desperation. And it's attitudes like that that make vulnerable kids like SooAh succumb to the lure of crime like embezzlement, bribery or even murder. If you don't give them a chance, why would they bother to do something different if it just means damnation either way? Especially when SooAh is a 17/18 year-old kid with a crazy mother who sees her as a walking report card and has a university-entrance adviser who actually advises her to take the #1 down by crook (just because she can't do it through sheer studying). That kind of mental stress is too much for a teenager who hasn't even found herself to take, much less filter through.
Plus, it is unfair to label SooAh as irredeemable when she hasn't yet done anything that is irreversible or uncontrollable. Half of it is because her despicable acts are closed within the school's boundaries and its influence and the other half is because she hasn't gone off the deep end yet (although what happens next episode does have her teetering on the cliff's edge).
That's why Teacher Yang is a powerful force within the school. He believes in his kids and offers to go back with those without the courage to do so. He stops kids from becoming criminals just by the power of his conviction. I really, really want SooAh to come back from the brink before she falls off into prison cells because that'll just be unfair to her existence and a loss of a brilliant person to society.
Sure, she's done some terrible things that she'll have to admit to and expose herself. She'll have to face the wrath of her mother and the ridicule of her schoolmates but in the words of Yeol: "It's a little less harder when someone believes (in you)". And I have no doubt that Teacher Yang will be SooAh's 'someone'.

Teacher Yang (and even Teacher Nam) and Yeon Doo are wonderful rays of light and forces for good. In the face of such bad examples of adulthood, of blatant corruption and pressures to excel at all costs, they stand out as guiding lights.
Already they are drawing others to themselves and inspiring unity and loyalty. The cheers are appropriately given to Teacher Yang, but I feel they are also most needed by the cheerleaders themselves and by their fellow students/young people, as they do battle to assert themselves and get on, without losing their souls.
I'm also hoping that Soo Ah retains some of her soul (shades of Voldermort? :) ) and gets to grow it well despite her despicable mother.

People are so hateful. Where do they get off wishing such terrible things on another human being? I read a comment on Youtube 2 weeks ago where someone commented something like, "I like this singer but this song doesn't do anything for me and I think the video's mediocre." Someone replied to that "take your favorite shotgun and shoot yourself in the face." That's insane.
Sure Soo Ah is nasty, and has done bad things that she should be justly punished for. She also has an emotionally-abusive mother riding her day and night. I want her not just to get her comeuppance, I want her mom to get some too so that she at least has a chance to get out of that abusive atmosphere. But those "just die" comments? Toxic and mentally unhealthy on the commenters' parts.

It's sad,... that hurt and anger is being poured out in such comments. Instead of inflicting pain and leaving a sour taste, I'd like to say what I'd want to remember, ... that we may acknowledge the fear, anger, mistakes, hatefulness in ourselves and yet know that we need not be ruled by these things. We are more than the sum of our emotions and hurts, and we are lovable even with them.

Soo Ah definitely needs what I believe we all need, ... to be loved despite ourselves and what we've done, to be forgiven and to be given a chance to take responsibility and forgive ourselves. It's in that loving acceptance when we feel ourselves so unlovable, that the walls of our hearts can be broken down.

I agree. Soo Ah is a real bitch but at the same time she is a lost girl who has no idea how to live like a human being, or have true friendships. I want to slap her but at the same time I feel bad for her, you can see how she almost looks sick from all the stuff she does this ep. I just hope she learned to reflect at the end.

It's going to be a tough and steep learning curve but I too hope she gets brave enough to lay blame where it should go and not just 'believe' it's everyone's fault but hers. The really culpable persons, I feel, are actually the adults who have engineered circumstances and brainwashed children and young people into self-centred, self-destructive and 'others-destructive' choices.

Hi @Omomo
That's true. When I consider how I can make all kinds of mistakes and that if others had given up on me before I learnt how to deal with myself, I'd really have little hope. I'd always like to give a person many chances to wake up, to face difficult truths and to take responsibility. It's so tough, it can take a long time, but it can happen and more so with help and patience.

I have the impression that maybe it was not dad who hit mom, maybe it was the other way: mom hit him and then left. We did not get to see the scene, and mom did not say clearly that she got hit or didn't express any physical pain before leaving.
I love this show and yeon-do and yeol. Poor ha-joon, please don't turn into the third wheel :(.

Awww, I really liked both couple.
I feel like Yeon doo has changed both guys for the better, so I have a difficulty in deciding which ship I should sail with. She looks so great and cute with them both!
But I can't deny that the chemistry between wongeun and eun ji is overflowing. I can't stop smiling every time I see them together in one scene. Their interaction is just so cute and natural. It's like they really enjoy talking and joking with each other out of nature. I know, virtual relationship always succeed in deceiving me and making me believe they were real :"
I can feel Ha Joon falling for YeonDoo already, but I strongly feels that Yeol with get the girl, since he's the main lead. But I hope this does not affect yeol and ha joon bromance and the friendship of three of them

I think Ha-joon is attracted to Yeon-doo, though. All his expressions lead to that unless smiling so giddily at a wound cream given by "just a friend" means she's just a friend. I want this triangle to happen because I feel like it has a good dynamic to it--both of the guys are actually great contenders in that they are so worthy of the girl. Yeol, in his charming and straightforward way; Ha-joon with his faux-reluctant way. BUT I don't want the boys fight. I just want to see how they'll face this when a girl is between them. Ha-joon, I can just see will not act on his feelings because he was the first to notice Yeol's attraction to Yeon-doo, but it's quite inevitable on his part not to fall for the girl (she's all sorts of light and fresh wind of air in his life.). I am really curious with how this will turn out.
+1 to Miranda's point up there!

Ahhhhh, I can't stop the feelings from this drama. ..... I don't want the bromance to be hurt and I always like Yeol/Yeon Doo more. But now Ha Joon is slowly falling for her too! I find it strange, I was afraid of this 'love triangle' but now that HJ's feelings are developing, it's like I find it so sweet and touching but at the same time please, let no one get hurt!
It's very rare to see a well written love triangle like this, where you can really feel for all the characters. The actors should get a lot of praise for this ♥♥♥

For the Soo Ah situation. A lot of people talk about redemption and how due to her home situation her actions are slightly understandable because she is under so much pressure and craves affection from her Mum.
I do not understand this. It is a bad situation however there is line that should not be crossed which she has crossed, multiple times.
It was not nice, but not too big a problem when she ruined the dance club. No apology was given
It was a little more selfish of her when she then decided to get everyone to cheerlead for her benefit. Again not a big deal. Again no apology was given
It got worse when she used Ha-Joons suicidal attempt as a way to force people into cheerleading. This was a bigger deal, as it was a situation in which it is possible this person could have killed himself. No apology was given
It is not okay that the teacher was fired because for sexual harassment just so she could teach him a lesson. Yes, he got back his job. But what if he did not? No other school is going to hire him after an accusation like that. This could literally have destroyed the rest of his life. No apology was given
Now, Yeol has been suspended after she made it seem like he cheated. Think about that for a second. Which college is going to accept you after an accusation like that? Again this could destroy the rest of someone's life. And once again no f***ing apology was given!
I understand that her home life is not the greatest and she is under a lot of pressure, but I think there is a point at which just being "regretful" is not enough. Even if she comes to regret what she did later on that does not eliminate the fact that she was ready to destroy up to three lives because of the pressure she was under. This is not something that can just be forgiven, if things took a different turn some people's lives could have been destroyed.
End Rant.

So what do you want her to do? Die?
Nobody is saying that she's not being terrible. But they understand her because she's been mentally and emotionally abused and its unfair to expect from her what we expect from people with good, loving (or at least not detrimental) families and environments. The line you say that no one should cross? For you, let's say its at point A, because that's what you've been taught and believed in after seeing reactions to different actions. For SooAh, it's at B because that's what she's learnt from seeing and hearing those around her. That line is not the same for everyone.
Are we supposed to give up on all such unfortunate creatures of abuse then? I think we'd just be planning our own doom.

YES. I agree with you. I don't like her, and she is a terrible person, but there is no such thing as irredeemable. If she wants to change eventually (and I am hoping she will), let her. The day we lose hope would also spell doom, to add to your last sentence. It's also a bigger crime to stop someone from being better than it is to just let someone be terrible.
In addition, each and every person handles situations differently. I find it a bit restricting to flat out compare A and B because not all variables are the same for everyone, i.e. Ha-joon had a loyal friend since he was a child. The fact that we're humans should be given consideration in rejecting the fact that Cause A always yields Result 1, because all of us react differently to any situation. This is the kind of thinking leads to stereotypes and prejudice.

Thank you Sassy GIrl, you voiced my feelings about Soo ah exactly! I have no feelings of sympathy for Soo ah. None. Because she's not just pulling pranks, she's doing stuff that can ruin people's lives and careers, so saying that 'she's a poor little rich girl pressured by mommy to be a bitch' doesn't wash. I read a comment comparing Soo ah to a lost kitten. What a laugh! And an insult to kittens everywhere. She's a lot more harmful and dangerous than a kitten. If she weren't so sympathetic a character, many of us would wish she'd end up in jail. She certainly deserves to be there. Or a psych ward out of harm's way. smh

She doesn't even think about others or her friends whom she had. Ha-joon too is wounded but he is not like her. Why? Coz of a friend! Why soo-ah is not like him? Coz she cheated the only friend she had!!
If soo-ah wanted she could have had amazing friends, she lied to her mum about her marks and the cheating. Couldn't she lie to save her friends(if her mum doesn't approve of them)?

Soo Ah has been specifically taught by the most important adults in her life, her own family, that friends are useless and worth less than specs. Even Ha Joon's dad who is the worst, doesn't attack his relationship with Yeol like that.
Soo Ah is a bitch but she's not like School 2015's Kang So Young, who bullies people just because she can. She still seems to have a conscience even tho she is like a cornered animal who is desperate. I really hope she stops before she causes someone's death in her fear of not achieving high enough/having her cheating found out.

A conscience means at least she CAN change in the future. Maybe by force because everyone find out about her wrongdoing, but at least we see that she looks almost sick under the strain.
And she is also hiding her true srlf from her mother and her wrongdoings from everyobe, while So young's parents at least knew what a monster their daughter was and supported her anyway. I think Soo Ah's home situation is actually worse.

BUT SOO-AH DOESN’T WANT TO CHANGE.
How sure are you of that?
Maybe she does, but as she said, her "head is eating my heart".
Fear can drive a person to do the wrong things, to pull back from displaying their full brilliance and make the wrong choices. Knowing what's right and wrong doesn't mean that a person will always choose to be right when there are negative consequences linked to it.

There is no textual proof that Soo-ah does not want to change. Until and unless she categorically declares that she does not want to do so, I believe there is still a chance. We have seen her shaken by what she does, which definitely does not erase the fact that she does it, but at the very least she recognizes it.
And true, Chae Soo-bin is amazing as this girl cornered in without anyone or anywhere to turn to. She was also flawless in Spy!

There is no textual proof that she doesn't want to change. Then where is the proof that she wants to change. Her head is eating her heart-she knows! But did she ever try a little to change?
What she has done till ep 8, i don't have heart to forgive her. She is just short of killing someone! If she wanted the least she could have done was silently support her team supporting teacher yang at their first show. She didn't do that. In ep 8, she reacted without a solid proof.
She can change, yeah, its a show so she will. But in reality ..?
I know one thing for sure, Michael Phelps too cannot save a person who wants to drown.
We can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped. And soo-ah does not want to be helped. She shouldn't have gone this far. Someone was about to lose their life, had they not been found.

October 29, 2015 at 9:55 AM
Yeah, I agree.
At this point, Soo Ah doesn't seem to be inclined to CHANGE. But is it because she doesn't want to, or is it because she just doesn't see CHANGE as an option?
Sure, Teacher Yang offered his help whenever she needs it, but as far as she is concerned, he can do nothing for her and has nothing to offer. He's just a measly teacher on a contract, what power does he have? (in her mind)
Sure, the kids have been nothing but kind and at the least, polite to her and don't deserve the bad things she does to them. But when it's either their friendship or Harvard acceptance.....
But in all honesty, her mother has raised her to be a... well, psycopath who steps on others to get up. Until she realizes that CHANGE is possible for her, she's going to go down this road, hell be damned

Hm, I do agree with you that she's a terrible human being at such a young age. She is manipulative and cunning, but I still think redemption is possible for her.
I mean what she did is no longer pranks, I know.
I also agree that what she did is ruining other people's life and career.
But I think we see in some scenes that she doesn't really do it with no conscience. She did bad stuff, but seemed really troubled by that. Like somehow she knew it was bad but she feels like she had no choice. Not all people are raised the same. She was raised by her mother pressure for her being the best in anything, and in her mind, this is her only chance in life is to be the best, so even though she knew all along it was terrible, she felt like she has no choice.
So I know this might be the less popular opinion, but no matter how hateful she is, she's still a high school student, raised in a wrong way. I hope the writer can come up with something to make her more likely to have a redemption.

True but if you have a reasonable suspicion you can start to build a case. Given they know a relatively short timeframe when the USB was stolen they also know roughly when it was dropped in his bag. If they think about it for 2 minutes they'll realize the only time it could have been put in his bag was when he was sitting at that table. And then they can ask themselves who in that room was there before he sat down and who came in after him. And THAT list is extremely short.

I think after his dad showed up, Yeol just didn't have the desire to investigate things himself. He was clearly upset that he didn't show that he believed him. It's when Yeon and Ha-joon started to poke around that he got warmed up to challenge the school. Yeon's visit has definitely helped get his confidence back. It's not easy to have the whole school think you got to the number one spot by cheating.

I've been a silent reader for almost a year now, and I have to say, I love reading all the news, episode recaps/analysis and all the comments too. There's so many little things that you guys point out that I don't get when I watch it, even if I've watched it 10 times. Just makes whatever I'm watching a whole lot more fun. I love Dramabeans!
On episode 7, just wanted to say a few things:
Kwon Soo Ah is treading a very dangerous path. Until now, she's succeeded in getting a teacher fired, had her friends lie to get said teacher fired, and framed another student for cheating when it was all her doing. Come episode 8, and she's indulged in bribery and almost gotten someone killed.
She's on a road to a much bigger crime like murder. The Real King kids already knew about her wretchedness, now the Baek Ho kids are starting to distance themselves from her too. The only thing left for her is for the teachers to lose all their sympathy and no longer want to help her. And I think she has just about achieved that with what she did in episode 8. I just don't know what to think of her anymore, how can they possibly redeem her?
Seo Ha Joon has let a girl get this close to him for the first time. He's shy and awkward, and he's totally getting emotionally attached to her. I find it rather cute, and I think this will help him have relationships in the future. Who knows, after this chapter he may find himself a cute, understanding girlfriend who looks out for him way Yeon Doo does? I think this is why the makers have built his interest in Yeon Doo. She's a part of his healing process. I say this after watching episode 8 too.
Can't wait to read everyone's thoughts on episode 8.

I know! With so many dramas the heroines are just whatever or just some Candy/"strong" girl type whose actresses are only cast because they bring cf money or are pretty, so the hero has no reason to fall for her other than because that actress was marked as the lead role/has status.
but Eunji makes Yeon Doo such a lovable heroine that it seems natural for both boys to fall in love with her, and for us to love her too. The writing is good but if the actress was bad or lacking too much, we would never feel like that. Her acting is so natural, Jung Eunji fighting ♥♥♥

First of all, before I delve into all the complicated stuff, I wanna say that Teacher Yang is the BEST teacher ever! When he threatened the principal, I was like WOAH. Saem, YOU ROCK.
And for Soo-ah...every time I think that she's irredeemable, a moment of her ignorance and desperation just pops right up, and I go: you poor girl. Ignorance: when Teacher Yang gave her the hanky, all she had to do was to smile and thank him. But instead she says she'll buy a new one for him, which shows she doesn't have a clue about "it's the thought that counts" kind of stuff. Desperation: when she smiled so happily over the lunch with her mother, it feels like she's doing all this to please her mom. I felt quite sad when I saw her smiling....like she has to pay a high price to smile along with her mom. (Idk what I'm talking about...heh.)
I love how the Baekho kids and Real King kids are really getting along--the side characters are adorable, just like typical high school students. It was especially moving when all of them kinda rebelled against the principal. Oh and did anyone notice Yeondoo, Jaeyoung and Nayeon (is that her name?) holding hands together when they were walking behind the principal? It was so nice...and Hyoshik being the wingman (sort of)!
Okay... now for the topic that's been eating at me for some time. I'm pretty certain there's a love triangle (ahh the dreaded thing...), and I hate any love triangles when I'm so invested in the lead. But well, since it's here, I hope the writers will resolve it nicely. And I hope that the bromance won't be spoiled. In fact, if they're gonna do a love triangle, I kinda wish they'd do it Infernal Devices style. [Infernal Devices is a trilogy (book) where there is this love triangle about two boys who are very close falling for the same girl, then they were like, "oh you have her then" and "no YOU have her".] A love triangle that's unique and doesn't involve any hate, just three people loving each other. There is a scene in ep.8 which showed this beautiful kind of relationship, and if that's the writers' idea of a love triangle, I'm in, I guess?
But if it's going to be the normal one, I think Hajoon won't get the girl. SORRY to the HJ-YD shippers, but I think this is kinda foreshadowed with the umbrella scene, the pickled raddish scene (when Yeol stole YD's radish, she doesn't really stop him, but when HJ does it, she goes all "nuh-uh, radishes are mine") and there is another small clue in the next episode.
Also, I hope the arrival of a love triangle won't start any shipping wars, as @Miraclan stated in her lovely podcast (miraclan.com), especially with two swoon-worthy boys! ♥

Best school drama of the year. Or maybe of these 2 years (School 2013 will always have a special place in my heart, but Sassy Go Go is creeping up)

This is the best high school drama I've seen in the three years since School 2013, no contest.
It blows every single other one out of the water, including the puerile and messy School 2015.

Hi, first time commenting here. Sassy has broken my 5 years of silent reading. GAH! I'm so nuts about this show!!! But I must admit that the recent plot developments have 'alarmed' me slightly since I couldn't imagine KY and YD not ending up together!!Tbh i was practically screaming when i first detected signs of attraction on HJ's side. I was like "NOOOO the BROMANCE!!! THE OTPPPP!!!" That being said, I do find HJ/YD moments really cute and sweet. I like how she gets him to open up. Like some others have mentioned, it's understandable that HJ would feel something since YD seems to be the first and only female friend he's opened up to. And as much as guys and girls can be 'just friends', I find that most really close friends usually have some feelings for each other, it's just whether or not they do anything about it. So yeah I'm perfectly fine if HJ decides that yes, he does have some feelings but he values her as a friend much more.
Anyway, my heart just melts whenever KY smiles at YD. It's too sweet! Btw, I don't know if anyone has noticed but whenever HJ and KY are in the background, I noticed that they usually have a lot of skinship-y moments. HJ is often having his arm slung around KY or something.. Even when it's just a shot of their backs. Ahh the bromance~ Don't wreck it show!!
Just waiting for the next ep to comment!! Tho unlike some opinions here, I think it's pretty obvious that YD likes KY, no? I think it's even more obvious the next ep. I mean just look at the way she smiles when she talks to him!

awww, welcome! It's so nice you're commenting for the first time, and it's here <3
The whole Ha-joon/Yeon-doo development this week left me so torn and FLAILING about my OTP on one hand, and my puppy Ha-joon on the other.
But I think a large part of our apprehension is because other dramas have messed up promising best-friend dynamics by introducing romantic betrayal before (*coughSheWasPrettycough*). I really think that this drama isn't going to be one of those - Sassy Go Go has hammered home at every turn just how important Yeol and Ha-joon are to each other. I really don't think this show would risk their bromance or put it in serious danger - Ha-joon may have feelings for Yeon-doo, but it would be wildly out of character for him to betray his bro over them. That's just not him. And that's just not their relationship, or this drama, or even Yeon-doo.

Yeah I'm aware of how the show has been careful to portray the strength of the relationship between HJ and KY. It's just that I love both characters and their friendship so much that I practically can't bear the idea of something that could possibly come in between them (even if their relationship remains strong). I'm firmly with the KY/YD pairing. But HJ is so endearing that I don't want to see him disappointed or hurt in anyway. Haha... Me trying to keep my beloved characters in a ball so that they don't get hurt ;P.

IKR.. I feel like Sassy has bewitched me. I've been stalking DB everyday just to see new comments LOL. It's also been a long time since I waited so eagerly to watch a series. Tbh honest I've been frequenting this place more out of a love for the witty recaps rather than Kdrama as a whole. Oh how Sassy has changed things. I must say I hope to see more cheerleading and Real King. And Instructor Nam! The lady's awesomeeeee <333. Kinda feel like Real King +YD interactions got a bit sidelined. But then we got to see more of Crinkles and Grumptopus so I can't really complain hehe. Oh my! How can they only be 17! They seem so mature~ Btw, LWG and JS's real life bromance is so cuteee <3

I like that yeon doo is helping ha joon come out of his shell... And I don't blame him if he has a crush on her. She's so easy to fall in love with !!! But I have faith that ha joon will always choose yeol over yeon doo !!!
Let's so hope the writers also think the same !!!
The only thing I can't accept is if the ending turns out like school 2015!!! I absolutely cannot accept that !!!
I was so disappointed after school 2015 ... And why couldn't they have kept it 16 episodes !!!!
I have seen dramas which unnecessarily drags on for 20 episodes. !!! And this perfect and wonderful drama has only 12!!!!!!! Does this make sense ???
At this point even so ji sub and shin min ah can't pull me out of my grief !!!

aaaaa where can I get my Kim Yeol?
He is sweeeeeeeet. I don't care about love triangle, but I do think that love triangle was unnecessary, given that Yeol and Yeon Doo give such a good chemistry and already become cute couple.
Ha Joon maybe attracted to Yeon Doo romantically, but it was just a temporary because hey, he was never become friend with a girl before. He may be mistaken for his feeling for a crush when its in reality just a normal friendly affection. Or maybe we as viewers has mistakenly see Ha Joon's friendly gesture as crush.
I really like the part that Baek Ho and Real King kids now hanging out freely with each other after Teacher Yang's incident. They have come out from their respective shell and not just see people from their grades again. as for Soo Ah..... let's hope that the outcome of her last deed will knock some sense into her head.

I felt the dynamics of Yeon Doo and the guys is very true-to-life. That's the messy way life is especially among young people who are experiencing many new things in relationships. We are in groups and make friends... so friendships can slide into close friends or out to acquaintances or in again to possible romances and out again with break-ups. It's genuinely a part of life and to be expected. The possible feelings are of many kinds, but there are other circumstances that determine decisions, and not just feelings.
It's great that a lonely soul like Ha Joon gets to experience a close or buddy friendship with Yeon Doo. It can seem romantic or that it is possible for it to be a romance but how he learns to take the risk of being hurt and how he deals with this is an important part of living and being with people, and will stand him in good stead for more relationships.

i also love that even though Baek Ho and Real King are way more willing to hang out with each other, they still retain their core values. none of them to a complete 180, Baek Ho still finds Real King's ranks disbelieving and Real King are still dismissive of Baek Ho's obsession with studying. it's super cute.

The newly introduced voting system is an excellent way for the writers as well as the readers to know the count of people reading an following this drama. All the readers might not comment after reading the recaps but they will definitely vote because it's an automatic process with the pop up window being displayed right after the recap being done. This is a wonderful initiative by javabeans and girlfriday. Thank you.

It has really struck me that it speaks to the strength of Eunji's acting and the way her character's written that even when the boys' interest in her might (though hopefully not) jeopardize the bromance that we have viewers wholeheartedly supporting either/both ships even when we love the bromance. Too often we see female characters shafted by viewers when they endanger the bromance. So, yay for Sassy for doing everything right and for getting the perfect cast!!!

I couldn't agree more, and I really think that Eunji's acting is underrated/not appreciated nearly enough because people think she's just playing Sung Shi-won mk. 10000 i.e. herself. The perils of typecasting <3
But when it gives us a character as lovable as Yeon-doo, I can't complain. I literally CANNOT imagine Kim Yoo-jung in this role, now.

That's interesting. I wasn't following the casting news for Sassy so I didn't know Kim Yoo-jung was a candidate for the role. Kim Yoo-jung would've made for a sweet heroine, but for our male characters who are burdened with neglectful/abusive parents, it requires a heroine with spunk and some mettle to not only appeal to the boys emotionally, but to also inspire them to grow as people. Jung Eunji has the skill set to bring that perfect mix to the role admirably. Though I do hope to see her broaden her character range in the future.

same. i'm kind of relieved that it didn't work out with kim yoo-jung, even though she's great in her own way, but eun-ji has made this role her own and i just love watching her act. eun-ji makes me wonder why she wasn't their first choice initially now LOL.

definitely. i feel like i don't talk about eun-ji enough, but she is honestly the centrepiece of this entire show. this drama wouldn't be anywhere near as good as it is without such strong acting from the female lead, especially since she's literally the connection between every character in the show.

Yes Eun Ji is the lynch pin of the show, and of that community of people, and she carries her role and the lynch pin responsibility so well! I can't help but think of her as an actress first, instead of as a singer or idol first. She is already so good, when so young, I wonder what heights she will rise to as she keeps on acting. :)

@Sassy Girl(great moniker)
Couldn't agree more.
But I think it is especially an oversight on the writer's part to make Soo-ah the primary villain. It's great that the actress is good, she can switch to that remorseful expression so well when no one is looking, but that's a cheap shot as the things she's done are simply unredeemable. Why start with her being a fun person to be around, to turn her into an evil mastermind the first time she gets caught?
I honestly just shake my head and chuckle every time things get in her way of having the specs in her resume or threatening to expose her- I can see she'll go too far.
Though I despise the Mothers' Club and the principle, I'd like them to be the main villains and not the tormented school girl. Angry Mom did that so well.
She makes the bully in School 2015 look, tbh. I don't want her to get hurt or anything, she's already in some kind of emotional pain, but I'm hoping after the next episode she and/or her mother get(s) a wake up call of some sort. Anything. Perhaps another parent figure who's on her side to shed a light on their back story. Where did that obsession with grades come from?
Pfff what a nag. Yeah, other than that I LOVE THIS DRAMA.

I want to highlight my FEELS regarding each of our OTP's interaction in this episode (HJ was such a scene stealer in this episode that successfully make almost everyone want to talk about him. But I don't mind it at all :p).
1. Rooftop: OMG. How I love KY always seek YD's attention, even in disturbing but lovely way (stealing food)! Even the teacher feel disturbed because of their flirty interaction :p
2. Laundry: When KY and YD flashed million megawatt smiles and giggles, I DIE. When YD share her concern, and get super caring response from KY, I feel thrilled inside.
3. Study Desk: How creative of KY to put books around YD to protect her from sunlight <3 Indeed he is No. 1 student :p. OMG I squealed SO HARD when I saw his cheeky smile after he asked YD for movie date.
4. Outside School: My words couldn't describe the feels that I saw in KY and YD at that moment. How can KY still put YD at the top of his priority even in his hardest moment. The soft head touching, concerned smile, sincere cheer, made my day!
5. Retirement Center: When they both were waving toward each other. I DIE <3. When YD said that she will still trust KY more than Conan, eventhough Conan is also in Sevit, my heart feels warm. Moreover, when YD said that she trust "only KY", not "No. 1 KY", I just hope that I can have this kind of relationship in my own life.
These kind of interactions make me hope that I really have "my KY" out there and I can be "her YD" (how cheesy of me :$). I am still confident that my ship will keep sailing even though there is harsh storm upfront <3

As I read through the comments I'm just laughing at the intensity of feeling about the triangle forming. I have two things to say about the whole thing.
The characters are only 17, so it's doubtful whatever couples they form now will be life long (besides both boys are adorable in their own way).
Have any of you watched Dawson's Creek? If YeonDoo were Joey, it's obvious to me who Pacey would be, and given enough time they eventually found their way together.
I'm just sayin...

It's funny isn't it. As much as I'm caught up in this show I do find myself thinking in the back of my head that if this was reality, the chances of the couple actually making it together to the end of their full life are highly unlikely. Especially in this day and age.
But that's the beauty of being a kdrama fan. It is that for a few hours, the stories let all the hopeless romantics inside us believe that there can exist a OTP, regardless of life stage or situations.

Second Lead Syndrome has not infected me, even after Ep.8. I like Yeol as the lead. I cannot think of a kdrama lead who is playful, does not pretend to be aloof and mean to his future-gf. He is the upgraded version of Irie Naoki (ItaKiss).

But I’m not going to stay still if yeondoo said some shit about “it’s okay to be hurt because you’re just 18yo”.
Yeon Doo wouldn't say that lol Why do you think she would that when she knows clearly it will hurt him? You know she's not that kind of person who would hurt someone's feelings, especially when it comes from someone whom she truly care about. She was the one who always lends out a hand to Ha Joon and told him that she doesn't want him to be in pain, even she knows clearly that he's in pain. So why would you think, from the person who plainly always say it out that she doesn't want him to be in pain, would say that hurtful words to him? Lol. She's actually very considerate towards the people she care about.

Okay, while everyone else seems to be talking and highlighting about Ha Joon's feelings for Yeon Doo and such, let me just go ahead and praise Yeon Doo standing up for Yeol in a time where even the people who are especially the closest and knows Yeol the most like the Baek Ho and Real King kids even doubt Yeol in the process of believing that stole the USB.
I totally see a strong sense of leadership in Yeon Doo there when she stood up for Yeol, that scene right there speaks so much volume of her role as a leader of her joint team. And it's not only because of the way she gradually shows and puts her trust in Yeol as a person, but also because she took the responsibility to step up for Yeol and sticks by his side through his trouble. Her role as a leader has really becomes her quality. Even Ha Joon looked touched and thankful to her at that moment, it's like he's really grateful to have her in his life, and shows her in his eyes as feeling more respected by her leadership role.

Add to that ^^ He also really has become to see her more than just a girl that his best friend likes and the troublemaker that he'd seen before, something in his eyes indicates that he has become to realize her as a person and also a person more than just him meeting in the eyes about her in the first place.
