Oh My Ghostess: Episode 11

Either it’s opposite day, or all our characters are undergoing some big changes. What I like about Oh My Ghostess is that the situation under the surface keeps changing, so that even if the day-to-day is the same, our characters’ experiences and feelings may have shifted entirely. As expected, our ghost’s feelings only deepen with more time, and already they’re starting to veer into dangerous territory.

EPISODE 11 RECAP

Sun-woo puts the moves on Soon-ae in their romantic getaway tent on the roof, but before he can unbutton her shirt, she seizes up and runs out with a hasty apology. He’s stunned and totally mortified, and Soon-ae runs all the way to the park.

She wonders why she’s feeling so feverish, and gets ejected from Bong-sun’s body like the last time when she came down with a cold. Bong-sun thinks Soon-ae came out on purpose to talk to her, and Soon-ae just goes with that.

They sit on the swings and Bong-sun asks if there are any new developments. She says she’s okay with it, but adds a little wistfully that it seems like Soon-ae has gotten very close to Chef. URG, I hate it that Bong-sun doesn’t get to know what’s going on!

Bong-sun worries about Soon-ae not having much time left, and Soon-ae is sobered by her concern. Bong-sun admits that she hated being able to see ghosts and was always so afraid that she lived in hiding, and this is the first time she’s been able to talk to someone freely.

Soon-ae says that Bong-sun isn’t alone now—even after she goes, Chef will remain by her side. Bong-sun isn’t so sure that after everything, Chef will stay with her in the end. She admits to feeling anxious, despite being happier than before because she’s living amongst people now.

Soon-ae looks over at her and thinks to herself: “Na Bong-sun, I’m sorry. Just a little longer… I’ll stay just a few more days next to Chef and then go. I’m sorry that I lied.” Bong-sun swings happily, musing that it’s been a long time since she’s been on the swings, and Soon-ae looks over at her guiltily, knowing that it isn’t true.

Sun-woo paces outside, not knowing what to make of the situation and just feeling extremely embarrassed. Soon-ae returns in Bong-sun’s body and comes up with an excuse that she had indigestion and had to go throw up her dinner. The relief rolls off of him in waves, and he admits to thinking all kinds of thoughts, like that he’d rushed things or that he smelled.

They fold the tent and he promises to take her on a real trip next time. He heads to his room still feeling residual awkwardness, and works off his um, energy, doing push-ups in bed. Soon-ae leans against the wall from her room and apologizes for being selfish, and asks for just a little longer to stay with him.

Officer Sung-jae comes home late that night, and Mom worries that he works too hard and is too nice, while Eun-hee says that’s why she married him. Of course neither of them knows Sung-jae’s hidden dark side.

He shows another burst of anger as he thinks about the weird ghost-warding things he found in Bong-sun’s room, and this time the black mist is visible in and around him, confirming that a malevolent ghost has hitched a ride.

The kitchen staff gathers around Soon-ae as she makes her first solo dish for today’s staff lunch, and they all sing her praises when they taste her pasta. Even Sun-woo agrees that it’s not bad, and she beams.

Sun-woo leaves the guys in charge of dinner because he has to do a magazine interview, and says that they requested Bong-sun to come along to talk about the cooking show. Outside, he cops to lying just because he didn’t want to go alone, and decides to take her shopping so that she doesn’t show up in her uniform T-shirt.

Soon-ae is over the moon that he’s going to take her shopping, and imagines the classic dramaland makeover sequence where she gets to try on pretty outfits and twirl as Sun-woo gives his approval and buys her bags and bags of new clothes.

In reality, Sun-woo stops at the first mannequin he sees and asks the salesperson to wrap it up from head to toe in Bong-sun’s size, and that’s the end of that. Soon-ae pouts to have her fantasy dashed, but Sun-woo says he hates shopping and can’t be bothered.

In the interview, Sun-woo is asked about his ideal type of woman, and he starts describing Bong-sun/Soon-ae: small, puppy-like, respectful, someone he can cook with, and he borrows a Witch Hunt-ism to describe her meek-in-the-day, dominant-at-night personality.

So-hyung admits to Sun-woo’s mom that she was flat-out rejected, and Mom can’t believe he’d be so blind. So-hyung thanks her for thinking of her so fondly, but doesn’t want things to get awkward with Sun-woo any more than they already are. Mom starts to ask if he mentioned another woman, but thinks better of it.

Soon-ae chides Sun-woo for describing her so accurately in the interview, but he doesn’t care if people guess that she’s the ideal girl he’s talking about. They linger at the door holding hands, and he finally lets go for the night.

But Soon-ae screams as soon as she enters her room, and he runs in to find the place flooded because of a leaky roof. Everything’s drenched, so he says she’ll have to sleep in his room tonight. Heh, she totally panics, when weeks ago she’d have poked a hole in the roof herself if she’d known it’d get her in his bed.

She doesn’t have any dry clothes either, so of course he gives her a white dress shirt to wear (really, are you all out of T-shirts?) and gives her the bed while he takes the floor. He turns on a romantic movie, and Soon-ae thinks to herself that this can’t happen yet because she wants more time, and cuts the movie off at the sex scene.

Sun-woo makes a mad dash to wash up in record time and then crawls up into the bed even though Soon-ae pretends to be snoring, but when he actually gets close enough to put his arms around her, she freaks out and kicks him off the bed violently.

She apologizes for freaking out and says that she’s thought a lot about taking it slow like he said, and she agrees that that’s what she wants. He’s mortified all over again but acts like he’s relieved that she finally sees his point, and says she’s matured. But he’s more confused than ever at her sudden turnaround and doesn’t know what it means.

Mom comes by the restaurant and is happy to be greeted by Joon, who she decides looks like a cocker spaniel and would be dateable if she were just a little younger. Ha. Mom is here on a mission to talk to Soon-ae, and hands over an envelope.

Soon-ae thinks it’s money (she must’ve watched a lot of dramas when she was alive), but finds a picture of a man instead. Mom wants to set her up on a blind date to get her away from Sun-woo, but he catches her in the act. Mom argues that Soon-ae’s fortune is that of a dead person, but Sun-woo says that he’ll deal with his own love life and sends Mom home.

He’s so distracted and worried about Soon-ae’s reaction that he burns the garlic on the stove and then burns Joon with the frying pan. Joon acts like he barely made contact, but quietly goes to the back to ice the giant burn.

Soon-ae comes in and sees how bad it is, and tracks down some ointment. She pulls Joon aside to the storage room, which Sun-woo notes anxiously. She puts ointment on the burn as Joon grunts in pain, and she wonders why he’s hiding something like this. He tells her not to tell Chef, because he doesn’t want to embarrass him.

She realizes that Joon is a total Chef fanboy, and he says that Sun-woo is different—he went backpacking around the world and ate out of trashcans from restaurants wherever he went. Well, ew. Joon asks how her “friend” is doing in her relationship, and she says that it’s going well, but now the guy is more aggressive and that’s a new worry.

She stops him to put some more ointment on the burn, which sounds really bad out of context, with him grunting, “Unhhhh, be gentle!” Soon-ae: “I’m being really gentle!” Joon: “Uhhh, uuuuuuuh, okay, stop!” Soon-ae: “Hold on, just a little more!” Joon: “Unnhhhhh!”

Of course, Sun-woo follows them just in time to catch the sex noises coming from the storeroom, and busts inside. It doesn’t look all that good, with Joon bent over and his shirt raised, and it’s even more suspicious when they answer awkwardly that Joon was asking her advice on a personal matter.

Joon scurries away quickly, and Sun-woo asks jealously how long they’ve been such close friends. Soon-ae answers vaguely that it’s been a week or two and makes her escape. Sun-woo can’t believe she’s pushing him away with excuses when she’s doing who knows what with Joon. Sun-woo: “Do you ask advice like this? Unnnhhhh! Like that?!”

When they return to the kitchen, Joon lets Soon-ae have the last popsicle, and the guys make fun of them for being all cutesy and romantic. It’s all in good fun and Soon-ae plays along, asking if they look good together.

They start singing congratulations for the birth of the Bbong-Jjoon couple, and that puts Sun-woo over the edge. He explodes and screams at them like a drill sergeant, muttering to himself that they didn’t even share their ice cream, and Soon-ae wonders, “Is it because we didn’t give him ice cream?”

She notices that he’s pissy all the way through lunch, and follows him into the storeroom to ask if he’s mad at her for last night. He admits to being mad, and asks if she’s playing games with him now. He scoffs that she was so intent on taking things slow, but seemed to be having lots of fun with Joon, and asks if she’s planning on two-timing them.

She’s shocked to learn the real reason he’s upset, and asks cutely if he’s being jealous right now. Sun-woo: “Jealous?! Do you know who I AM?” She says that there’s been a misunderstanding, only when he asks her to explain it, she can’t because she promised Joon she wouldn’t say.

That just makes him angrier, though he adorably waits outside the door anyway to give her a chance to explain, and then gets even pissier when she walks right past him.

He’s so petty that he takes it out on her in the kitchen by insisting that she did a terrible job of washing the shellfish for tonight’s special, and sends her to the market to buy shrimp instead. Well now you’re just being childish.

Soon-ae stops by Dad’s restaurant and finds him on the phone, and he says it’s a pointless call anyway, admitting to dialing his dead daughter’s phone once in a while, just because. Soon-ae is surprised that he kept the line going, and he says that the phone went missing, but he couldn’t bring himself to shut off the line.

She asks gingerly if it was an accident of some sort, and he says that he doesn’t know why, but she committed suicide. FINALLY. Now we’re getting somewhere! Soon-ae is startled, and wonders why on earth she’d kill herself.

A headache brings on a flash of memory—drowning in the water, nothing more—and she heads upstairs to her old room to look for clues that’ll shed some light on what happened. Tucked inside her diary, she finds plane tickets for her, Dad, and Kyung-mo, dated for a week after her death, on Dad’s birthday.

She remembers now making the plans in secret to surprise Dad for his birthday, and thinks that it doesn’t make any sense for her to commit suicide a week before that. She takes the diary with her and runs off, and Kyung-mo pouts that she never stays when he’s around, deciding that he got shafted because of Sun-woo.

But then aaaaaack, she takes the diary straight to Officer Sung-jae to share her theory that the trip and the suicide don’t line up. She explains that she knew Soon-ae because they took a cooking class together years ago, and only recently found out that she was the ajusshi’s daughter who died.

Sung-jae says that there’s no question that it was a suicide, and remembers that Soon-ae had sent a text to her father beforehand. He flips through the diary and finds something scrawled across a page that alarms him—the number 2368—and asks to keep the diary in case more evidence can be found inside. No, don’t give it to him! Sigh, she hands over the diary and the plane tickets.

Sun-woo overhears the guys talking about Joon’s burn, and realizes that that’s the secret everyone was so keen to hide from him. Embarrassed, he goes to check on Joon to make sure he’s okay, and confirms that Soon-ae was in the storeroom with him to put ointment on it.

He apologizes and feels like a total heel, and cringes when Soon-ae returns in a subdued mood. He feels stupid for going so overboard, and wonders how he’s going to make it up to her.

Soon-ae is so flummoxed by this suicide news that she ejects herself from Bong-sun’s body to go look into it some more. She rushes off, leaving Bong-sun confused, but just happy to bask in Chef’s presence.

Officer Sung-jae takes a walk on a bridge, presumably where Soon-ae drowned, and takes out a switchblade for no apparent reason.

Soon-ae runs to Medium Unni and interrupts a session with a paying customer, and Unni is surprised she’s even still around after her overnight trip with loverboy. Soon-ae tells her that she supposedly ended her own life, but it doesn’t make sense to her—it’s not something she would do, and she’s never heard of suicide ghosts.

Unni says that it’s rarer but they do exist if they had really long outstanding grudges, and doesn’t think much of it. What’s more important is that she hurry up and move on before she becomes a malevolent ghost, and Soon-ae says she will. It just bothers her because she can’t remember her own death, and can’t see a reason why she’d want to die.

Bong-sun eagerly waits for her nightly cooking lesson, and is disappointed when Sun-woo texts her that there’s no lesson tonight. She trudges upstairs, and he suddenly jumps out at her with a ginormous bouquet of red roses, shouting, “I forgive you, Na Bong-sun!” Pffft, don’t you mean sorry?

He’s so nervous it’s hilarious—his “apology” consists of telling her that she made him mad, but they’ve built affection through all their bickering, and he knows she can’t live without him, so he’s being reallllly gracious by deciding to forgive her.

He says that he hates flowers and shoves them toward her, declaring them made up since she accepted them. Then he fumbles with a ring box and blubbers on about how he haaaates this cheesy stuff too, while putting a couple ring on his finger and putting hers on a necklace around her neck, so the other guys won’t notice. Ermagerd, you are such a dork.

Bong-sun barely recovers from the shock and finally smiles, and he looks so relieved as he pats her on the head and pulls her in for a hug. He wonders aloud how he got this way and sighs, “You make me crazy, Na Bong-sun.”

Soon-ae returns, frustrated at not being able to remember her death, and figuring that seeing Chef will put her in a better mood. She skips up to the roof, but stops in her tracks when she comes upon Chef hugging Bong-sun and promising sweetly never to misunderstand her again.

Sun-woo caresses her face and says, “I must like you much more than I thought,” and Bong-sun answers in kind. Soon-ae looks stricken as she watches them, and then when Sun-woo leans in to kiss her, suddenly a black mist forms around Soon-ae, and she charges at Bong-sun with a frightening look in her eyes.

She pushes Bong-sun down to the ground, and Bong-sun looks up at her in shock. But Soon-ae is even more terrified than she is, and stands there stunned as Sun-woo makes sure that Bong-sun is okay.

Soon-ae looks down at her trembling hands in horror and backs away, and runs downstairs still shaking. She wonders what’s come over her and says repeatedly that it’s not happening.

But as she watches Bong-sun sleep that night, she can only think of Unni’s warnings that she’ll turn into a malevolent spirit. She takes over Bong-sun’s body to write a letter that night, and then ejects herself to watch Sun-woo sleep.

Bong-sun stirs awake and finds Soon-ae’s letter on her pillow:

Soon-ae: Na Bong-sun, thank you. I’m sorry that I’m leaving like this without saying goodbye, but I can’t be in your body any longer. I’m afraid that my feelings will grow deeper, that I’ll want to remain by that person’s side, that I might not be able to keep my promise to you. Things will go well between you and that person even without me now. I sincerely want you to be happy. The last thing I want to tell you is: Love with all your effort while you’re alive—yourself, and others too.

Bong-sun gets up and runs all over the neighborhood looking for Soon-ae, but she’s nowhere to be found. She realizes now that Soon-ae must’ve fallen for Sun-woo, but mostly looks worried that she can’t find her.

Soon-ae wanders aimlessly through the streets, and goes crying into Unni’s arms. Sun-woo darts awake after a bad dream and is alarmed to find Bong-sun’s room empty. She’s terrified about how she’s supposed to act around Sun-woo, when he calls to yell at her for running out in the middle of the night.

He says she’ll get hurt walking around with her head down like that, and she finds him standing across the street waving at her. She steels herself and makes the decision right then and there: “I can’t back down now. Chef is telling me to come to him. He’s waiting for me because he’s worried about me. I like him so much. I have his heart. I’m going to think of myself just this once. I’m going to protect his heart, no matter what.”

She goes running into his arms, and he gets all big-headed about how badly she’s fallen for him. (Lol, the Misaeng heart-lights make a comeback!) She refuses to let go, and he points out that she was the one who didn’t let him touch her earlier. He sniffs that flip-flopping is her hobby or something, but breaks into the world’s happiest smile as he hugs her back.

COMMENTS

Aw, I’m proud of Soon-ae for making the right choice. It was touch and go there for a while, with her making some questionable decisions along the way with regards to Bong-sun’s life. But she made up for a lot by ultimately choosing to walk away at the right time—when she discovered that she couldn’t control her anger, and that her feelings for Sun-woo were tied up in that. It makes me happy to know that she walked away before she got in so deep that she couldn’t keep her promises to Bong-sun, even though in many ways she already crossed a big line when she kept her feelings for Sun-woo to herself and prolonged her time here on purpose.

It’s nothing compared to what she could be if she let herself become a malevolent ghost, and I think she needed that jolt to realize how uncontrollable and dark that energy is. It scared her straight, and I like that for her, hurting Bong-sun was enough to make her see that it was wrong. It’s bittersweet that the evil energy is tied to how much she feels for Sun-woo, but it’s the greed to be with him that fuels the badness, and Soon-ae seems to have figured out what Unni meant by feelings being so dangerous to ghosts. It’s tragic for her, of course—she can’t control loving him, and it’s damned unfair that she died so young. But as a ghost, giving into her feelings selfishly means terrible things for all of them, and it seems like she’s actually taking that to heart now.

I’m just relieved that we’re FINALLY getting somewhere with Soon-ae’s mystery, because it always bothered me that she was so fixated on getting laid and not on figuring out why she can’t remember how she died. I get that we need to delay the plot point, but her lack of curiosity in the matter just never made much sense to me. It’s nice to get her separated from Bong-sun and thinking about her past in a serious way, because only she would know how illogical it is that she would commit suicide—she was a happy person with a loving family who made plans and had dreams for her future, and she knows in her gut that something about this story is wrong. It was heartbreaking to see that Dad thought she was so unhappy with her life (with him, and a life spent working so hard) that she would want to die, and now it seems just as important for Dad to be made aware that she loved her life with him and didn’t end her life, as it is to catch Officer Sung-jae for his crimes.

I hope that we’re in for a nice long stretch with Bong-sun in control of her own body and getting to know Sun-woo in a real way. There’s no doubt about how she feels, but she’s only ever loved him from afar and gotten such tiny moments with him that I feel like they’re starting completely over in a brand new relationship now. I’d like to see her grow in confidence and assert her identity, and to follow Soon-ae’s advice to love herself too. Maybe with the girls’ separation, there’s still time for Bong-sun’s character development, Soon-ae’s mystery to be solved, a chance for the girls to be friends, and even a little more romance? As if Sun-woo could let a day pass without some mortifying display of backhanded romance. He’s lucky Bong-sun doesn’t know any better, I swear.

Ahh I laughed and squealed so many times during this episode! I'm starting to feel bad for Sung-jae, not ghost possessed Sung-jae but the non possessed one whose gonna have to face all the consequences of "his" actions

Wasn't it stated (episode 10) that malevolent spirits hang around or possess the worst type of persons? So sung-Jae may not be innocent at all. Might not feel any remorse for his 'possessed' actions.

Ahh very true, maybe we will get to see for sure if the shaman performances some kinds of ritual to release Sung-Jae from the ghost possession

I think he was possessed during a really vulnerable time. He was depressed and hated the world, so he was attractive to malevolent ghosts. I want a long back story with him soon, hopefully.

" sung-Jae may not be innocent at all" Are we suddenly forgetting that he attempted to murder his baby brother and got into a violent scuffle with another kid when he was a teen? Sung Jae hasn't been innocent for a long time now, even before he got possessed in the attic in episode 10's flashback.

there is also the possibility that he is like BS a shaman and was getting possesed by (evil) spirits since childhood. After all, unlike BS he did not have a grandma shaman to help him and supply him with ghost warding parafenelia.

I keep thinking shaman unnie her reading of him as "a lonely Island". Could maybe be symbolic as " an Island , only inhabited from time to time by castaways and lost souls."

or evil spirit may have been trapped inside him since childhood.

I would have really liked this to be the case, but with only 4 episodes left I dont know wether there is enough time for SJ's salvation...

Let's not forget that even before he was possessed, Sung-Jae tried to kill the child of his adopted family which let to him being chased out and returned to the orphanage. So he was a bad seed to begin with. I feel sorry for Eun-hee though and cannot imagine her pain when she finds out the truth that she was crippled by the man she thought 'saved' her and loves. Poor girl!

Now that the drama ended, one can see that Sung Jae was conflicted. He loved Eun Hee and he tried resisting. It was stated that he very well could have already been possessed as a kid (hence trying to kill his step brother). If children or people are depressed, they are easy targets. Evil Ghosts latch on people with evil tendancies, but they also latch on people who are easy to influence and are already hurt so much so they are open for evil thoughts. So it is possible it is not entirely Sung Jae's fault. I guess, I never believed he could survive in the end, because the evil spirit latched on to him was very strong and had a hold on him for a very, very long time, so I guess his redemption was executed very well with him killing himself to erase the evil spirit and protect people around him.

yes!! i had the same theory- i don't think that it works the same way with "normal ghosts" like seon-ae. i think that evil spirits simply find and latch onto people that have a propensity for dark thoughts, and just influence them more strongly to commit evil actions. i don't think that "good" sung-jae is unconscious inside his body, or that they switch from time to time like seon-ae and bong-sun, but that they are the same. sung-jae is just more evil than he already was because of the spirit's influence, i think. he seems to have a knowledge of ghosts and possession, so maybe he and the evil spirit do communicate with each other. hopefully this is cleared up later on.

Thank you for the recap! I didn’t think anything would go down between SW and BS/SA. It seemed (to me) that it would have been a little predictable, and a little bit of angst (or conflict) would have been welcomed. So I was not surprised by the turn of events, at the beginning of ep.11. I did think it was hilarious when SW was doing push ups on his bed. And why did we get a shot of his bum bum? 

What surprised me, however, was SA turning down SW when he got into the bed. This was something she had wanted all along, so I was not sure about her reaction, especially if she still believed that her grudge had to do with her still being a virgin. And so, I understood SW’s surprise at her reaction as well, especially since he had told her (in ep.10), that he would not hold it in any more (or something along those lines), and SA seemed fine with it.

I gasped when SA gave her diary to SJ. Granted, she doesn’t know that he has everything to do with her death, but still… I heard myself saying : “Noooooooo!!!! Don’t do that, pleeeeease!!!!” It’s OK though, because hopefully SJ will get what is coming to him. And I was also happy to see that some progress was being made, regarding (the viewers getting) more info about SA’s death. That part really has me interested. I really like the actor who plays SJ. He plays acting nice and sweet, and being evil really well. I am concerned, every time he is around BS.

SW continues to impress me with the kind of boyfriend he is. Yes he gets jealous (I loved that), however I love that he makes a big gesture when he is trying to apologize (a meal in ep.10, and a special drink for BS, and some awesome cheesy lines), and the biggest bouquet of roses I have seen offered to a woman, so far (and a necklace, with the couple’s ring). Also, good for BS for deciding to be selfish, and running to SW and hugging him. Aaand she kept hugging him, awesome!!!!! No hands standing on the sides of her body, yeah!!! And SW’s mom should really back off, and let SW enjoy BS as his girlfriend, and enjoy dating her.

Poor Cordon though, suffering because of SW, and yet being a trooper. I love how BS cares about him, and how comfortable she is with him. I can see why some viewers are shipping BS and Cordon.

I wonder when the policeman who was in the hospital will come back, and I hope he will somehow be of use, in helping to figure out SA’s death, and how bad SJ really is. I also wonder if Shaman Unni will be involved in helping figure out what happened to SA. If she does, her life might be in danger as well.

Hi Ivoire!

I'm a bit of a stickler for not abandoning characters that have been shown to viewers as possible important persons in the plot.

The injured policeman is one, the grandma of Bong Sun is another. I feel they could both contribute a whole bunch to solving the mysteries... the policeman can help to point out where the guilt lies with regards to his own attack and that links to Soon Ae's death.... grandma can perhaps suggest how to exorcise the evil spirit, since Shaman unni appeared more scared by this and might not be quite up to exorcism.

I'd want both Soon Ae's family and Sun Woo's family also to not be forgotten, but to have a proper closure all round. I'm waiting impatiently for the show tonight. I cannot watch the live stream but it comes out very soon on Dramabay. :)

"And why did we get a shot of his bum bum? "

Why not! :) we need to verify for ourself if he can bounce back from a bad experience (puns soooooo intended :) moehahaha)

"What surprised me, however, was SA turning down SW when he got into the bed."

This is wat i said in my previous remark once, she seemed a flirt when she was alive but obviously did show a lot restrained.
I think had she been alive, she would not have been pushing for things to go this fast. Her hesitating and reflecting things shows me that she is finaly getting more in touch with her human side then her ghost side.
I think she is coming to grasp with the fact thazt she has to leave and is finally starting to realise life is for the living.

Glad she found out more about her death, it did make her do a turn in the right direction towards resolving her issues(grudge). I am a bit dissapointed at shaman unnie for ignoring that part and telling her to get back onto the wrong path (ie the relationship with cheff)
Bit of a failure as a shaman /spirit guide there unnie!

SJ, i still feel sorry for him somehow, i refuse to believe he is a bad person and want him to have a happy life,
but i doubt that Korean law will take "demonic possesion" as a valid criminal defense during a trial :) Maybe he can go for the split personality defense :)
I do hope when BS and SA work together to get more info on SA's death, that this wil not lead BS into grave danger, but i assume she is alreay on Sj's radar so,..be prepared @ivoire for some more squeeling o "Nooooo"

"SW continues to impress me with the kind of boyfriend he is."
True! i mean for all he knows, he is actually ok with being in a relationship with a person with a mental health problem (Bipolar)
When i watched It's ok, it's love, it struck me that S korea still frowns very much on mental problems and psychological treatement.
For SW to be this accepting, makes him a great guy, even as a friend, but even more so as boyfriend.

As for SW's mom, despite her remarks towards BS, she is not the worst Kdrama mom we have ever seen :)
She does care about her son and his future, a little medling is allowed. As long as she does not start to plan his wedding to another woman behind his back.
As for the blind date she tried to fix for BS ..think she could get me one? with So ji Sub?

Also, @Growingbeautifully imagine BS's granny being this Deus ex machina"super shammy" (yes i play warcraft :) ) exorcising the bad spirit(s) from SJ and helping SA cross over without the whole ripping your soul to bits pain.

I so love SW's mom! She's so hilarious and cute. I was so sure the envelop she gave BS would be cash, but it turned out to be a "suitable boy". It was so cute. And the actress playing her is doing such a great job.

I can't wait to see chef and the real BS's interactions. Will chef ever find out he fell in love with a ghost? Or then did he ? Or was it always BS he was in love with ? His description of his perfect woman is a mix if both of them. Murky waters.

Yeess! I like her, too (and actually I like every cast in the drama).

I really love watching all the scenes involving the kitchen team members. The actors did a very good job at portraying their characters. Each scene feels so natural. The Sous Chef, Joon, and the other two guys, their hate-love relationship and conversations are always entertaining to watch. Excellent casts!!

Awesome episode, im really happy with soon ae 's decision because 1. for a while there ive been feeling Big Love vibes from this show, you know those women who are married to the same man and all get along except in this case the man doesn't know he's in love with two people who are friends =weird, jealousy, hating each other =normal. Secondly if you wake up from a nightmare where a naked ghost /spirit is trying to sleep with you(rebuke and pray) , trust me you'll stop thinking this show is romantic, well atleast till the next episode airs then your sucked back in by all the cuteness.

I would loved to see more of Bong-sun. She is still a shadow in this episode. A bit more about her changing personality, and how she comes to accept herself. I have no clue how this is going to shape up since Chef doesn't really love Bong-sun.

Lets see what happens.

I think they meant that they see Chef as being in love with Soon-ae as Bong-sun, rather than actual Bong-sun. I dunno, I honestly think hespecially always been a bit attached to real Bong-sun because she reminded him of his previous self.

i agree with chef having fallen for SA's personality halfway. he may have started to like bits of BS, but he heard about SA's dreams, SA has been doing more of the cooking lessons, romantic gestures, etc.

i'm looking forward to the next episode because i feel like there's this huge gap / hole in the che's and BS's relationship (it's so weird. i can't imagine how bong sun can really comprehend the relationship because she's mostly out of it. as someone with a significant other, the real BS and chef's relationship feels empty).

The episode the was a bit slow in the beginning and I started to worry that the drama would slow down its progress. But happily, we got major developments! I totally agree with you girlfriday; why wasn't soonae more curious about why she died??? I mean, that should probably have been her biggest worry from the start and not on getting laid. I feel like the drama has dragged this part of the story too long.

I'm also really really really really glad that Bongsun is finally getting her time with chef!!!! As much as I adore Soonae's outgoing, confident personality, I just can't feel the chemistry, butterfly when she's the one controlling the body. It just feels wrong. I mean, I don't understand why Bongsun would just allow her to take over majority of the time. If the girl needs to get laid then she should just come in when the real bong sun and chef are about to do it! Well, I'm just glad Bongsun is finally learning how to be more confident, to love herself more, and to give more attention to what she truly wants! Including Chef's heart!

So far, this drama is doing well in keeping me entertained and hooked. This will probably come down as one of my favorite dramas of all time.

I reckon (and this is just a guess) that Soon-ae's grudge is actually not knowing how she died. Her interlude as Bong-sun with chef will, in effect, help her to achieve her real ghostly goal in bringing down evil-in-law before moving on. Helping Bong-sn to have a happier, healthier ghost-free life with Sun-woo will just be an unexpected bonus. Bong-Woo fighting!

when i think back to that flashback where it showed the evil spirit stepping into sung-jae's body, it was faceless- so i'm wondering if it's just an evil energy that affects the person who already has a propensity for dark thoughts. the shaman said several times that evil spirits attach to shady people and commit evil acts, so i feel like maybe it's not so much that the evil spirit has taken over the original body and sung-jae is unconscious within, but that they've become one and the same.

joon is so cute but his scenes have admittedly been confusing. my hunch that he was a fanboy of sun-woo was correct, but then they've been hinting kinda that maybe he has a crush on bong-sun, but it doesn't really seem like that either. there was that scene where he looked all forlorn as chef piggybacked bong-sun back to the lodge, and looked super happy and cute as they sang karaoke together at the motel, but then at least two scenes of him smiling knowingly about chef and bong-sun/soon-ae. so i'm not sure what they're trying to get at, or if they'll clear this up later on.

soon-ae's moment of realization was really good. yes, she's crossed the line before, but she was still oblivious in her single-minded pursuit of ascending to heaven and also, basking in her first romance, and i understood all that, even as i wished for bong-sun to become a more developed character. this moment was the right wake-up call. with regard to why she never had more curiosity about her death, i figured it was just because in this world, virgin ghosts existed. like you guys said in the podcast, i imagined she tried different ways of going to heaven in those first two years, and found that didn't work, so accepted that she was a virgin ghost. the community of ghosts found her memory loss a bit strange but seemed to tell her that she was a virgin ghost too, so. i guess it is a bit strange that she didn't try to find out after she regained a bit of her memories and started possessing bong-sun, but i also imagine her happiness at reuniting with her family again and wanting to cajole her father out of his sadness, and so not talking about it with him. she got caught up in bong-sun's life and the romance, and forgot about being a ghost sometimes, i think.

Maybe with the girls’ separation, there’s still time for Bong-sun’s character development, Soon-ae’s mystery to be solved, a chance for the girls to be friends, and even a little more romance?
^yes, this is everything i want to see in the next 5 episodes. but will 5 episodes be enough is the question~_~

@peaches

Oooohh about Sung Jae and the evil spirit .... CHILLING! I hope not! Poor Eun Hee!!!

WRT Joon - I think he was written to be played either way depending on the needs of the plot. He could have been a thorn in Sun Woo's side (as in this episode) as well as the one cheering Bong Sun on. But that's even the case in real life. Male colleagues can be 'brotherly' friends with the possibility of becoming 'boyfriends' and it can remain in limbo indefinitely until something happens as in this case when Joon sees that SoonAe/Bong Sun has made a decision. Since his feelings were not that strong, he could let her go easily enough and continue with the brotherly aspect of the relationship.

Definitely we need the last episodes to give development to both Bong Sun and Sung Jae and to the mystery of Soon Ae's death. So many holes to fill in order for us to understand!!!

The level of cuteness that Sun-woo achieves its unbelievable. I love it, even when he is doing things the wrong way.
I had two "Nooooo" moments: when she gives the diary to Sung-jae and when Soon-ae pushes Bong-Sun. Not for Bong-Sun, but for Soon ae because i dont want her to become an evil spirit. Her letter made me cried a little and how much I love that she wrote "love yourself ".

I'm happy that we are more into the murder and now finally Bong Sun can win the Chefs love by being herself. I feel bad for Soon-ae and i want her to discover everything but i also was waiting for the other romance. I love the little moments that we have had with Bong-Sun and Sun-woo because while the moments between him and Soon-ae are more hype and fun and they bicker (and i had like them, most of the time) because thats Soon-ae personality and Soon-woo kinds of adapts to it, the moments between him and Bong Sun are more sweet and quiet because thats her personality. I want to see that. I dont want to see the exact dinamic because they have different personalities. Now that Bong Sun has a new resolution things maybe are going to spice a little, but i hope with her mark on it.

What i will always want but i think we are not going to get much was a womance (Google says its like that, dont blame me) with Soon-ae and Bong-Sun interacting more besides the possesion. But we cant have it all and Im happily going to take what the end of this episode gave us.

Thank you for the recap!

Agree on the recap - SA did good in ep 11. She did the right thing. Felt so bad for her in many scenes. I am looking forward to discovering the truth about her death.
I have some doubt still about the BS/SW coupling. Time will tell is SW likes her for who she is without SA. And I think Joon is super cute. Bong Sun is so lucky. I'm shipping her with Chef or Joon! Never done with kdrama characters before.

For a moment there, I thought Sun Woo was going to fire Joon, and I would have flipped a table if he lost his job on top of getting burnt. I love Joon's rapport with Soon Ae and how comfortable they are around each other. I hope they don't lose that now that Bong Sun is back. But since Joon liked Bong Sun first, I wonder if he will notice her changed (or back to normal) personality.

I feel sorry for Sun Woo for getting cockblocked thrice -- all by Soon Ae even while trying to kiss Bong Sun. I am happy to see the new assertive Bong Sun, but I wish Sun Woo will eventually realize she is a different girl (hopefully by the way she ties her shoes). I am so mad at Soon Ae for confiding in Sung Jae of all people. Where's Little Haley Joel Osment when you need her? I cracked up at the old Boyfriend's Mother slipping Unsuitable Girlfriend an envelope and even harder when the cliche got turned on its head.

Thanks for the recap, girlfriday!

I really liked this drama and was hooked because of the wonderful chemistry and hilarious antics of our characters, but as the story progressed I was a bit turned off by the fact that Bong Sun barely had any screen time, while Soon Ae got the majority of the time.
Don't get me wrong I actually liked it better when Soon Ae was in control because damn, Bong Sun is a lot to deal with but it made the relationship with the Chef feel incensiere. I feel like Bong Sun's character has evolved a bit more but I'm looking forward to reading the recaps and seeing her growth.
I'll stick with the recaps and hope to figure out what is going on wih that creepy cop.

During the scene when SA got evil, when she was about to run, I thought she wanted to possess BS so that she'd be the one being kissed, coz I remember she "ran" into BS' body in an earlier ep (the cooking show). I didn't think that she meant to push BS. And when she didn't get to enter BS' body, I wondered why... something to do with BS' energy perhaps? Well, that was how I saw it.

I wonder what those numbers in SA's diary meant.

That last scene at the traffic light reminded me of the sling-kiss scene in King of High School. Oh, I didn't notice the "Misaeng hearts" - thanks for the screenshot! Love that hug & smile from SW at the end.

@BedeliaJane

So did I. I thought she was going to oust Bong Sun to get the kiss for herself. But the look in her eyes was different. It was a more malevolent look not a desperate look. She was out to hurt Bong Sun and that gave the better nature of Soon Ae a real scare.

I think Sung-jae drowned Soon-ae in the bathtub. Because in her memory, it seems like someone shoved her head into the water. Then, he tried to make it look like suicide by throwing her into the river.

And I'm so curious what 2368 means. Hope it is a clue to help Soon-ae find out why she died. Catch the evil officer!!

Perhaps SoonAe was never that bothered about how she died because she just assumed that it was an accident and she can't do much about it. Plus, she was always fixated on the idea that losing "her virginity" was the only way to cross over to the other side on her own terms (I wonder who put that in her head) and knowing how she died never occured to her that it could be the closure that would free her of her grudges.

But when it turns out that her dad thinks she chose to end her own life herself, that's when she becomes so perplexed because all she's ever wanted after dying was to be alive.

I know a lot of people have been bothered by the BongSun-SoonAe-SunWoo triangle and the ethical problems between them, but I guess I'm not that bothered because I'm just here for the ride and just enjoying it, trusting the story not to fail me, since isn't showing the process of solving problems part of all stories?

Good thinking! I hadn't thought of it like that. So SA was fixated on being a virgin because she knows that's the only regret she had in life. She assumed that was the reason she hasn't crossed over yet. She died early without getting laid - get laid to crossover. But finding out she committed suicide, dying a virgin wouldn't be a regret because it was her who chose to end her life.

But we all know she didn't. SJ murdered her and she needs to resolve her murder and whatever she witnessed that got her murdered then her grudge would be resolved so she can finally crossover.

Thank you for the recap Girlfriday!

I am loving every episode! So water really makes Soon-ae and Soon-woo together. So funny, especially when they were watching a movie with that hot scene and Sun-woo said, "i think it's time to sleep" aha ha ha!

So Soon-ae chooses to have the painful rite, so she'll be gone then? What now? Sung-jae really scares me. I reckon Soon-ae wouldn't leave without solving the mystery of her death, and will stay when she realises that Bong-sun is in danger.

Gosh, Sun-woo is so endearingly weird, ha ha! So full of himself yet so insecure, much like real actors are (I suppose). Jo Jeung-seok is tops with this character. I love him!

I love how Bong-sun crossed the road and dashed to his prince... then that guy's full-of-love smile... Loooove it!

haha yes, i thought this too from way back because there was a similar plotline in a drama i watched before- the writers made it seem like he was in love with the heroine from the very start, and then the last episode revealed that it was actually the hero that he was in love with.
i thought it was the same here too, because it's kind of been kept purposely vague- he rejected going to a motel with her, and his friendliness might just be friendliness, nothing else because he's not jealous or bitter about them and sees her as family, and it's been revealed from early on that he's a huge fan of chef because he was the one who would always defend him against sous chef talking behind his back.

but~ who knows~ maybe i am connecting the two dramas wrongly, and it's just that he had a mild crush on bong sun but gave up quickly bc he could see how happy they were together, like some other people are saying. i hope they clear this up at least though, bc they've set him up as a sort of potential love interest (not really second lead status but) from the beginning.

Maybe I've just been frustrated for so long with this drama and how stagnant it's plot has been outside of the "Soon Ae and her Virginity" story that I'm not holding any high hopes for the next five episodes.

1. I'm pretty sure we've beaten the dead horse that is Sung Jae being Evil! by now. What I would like to see is an insight or closer look behind every decision he's made till now. Even if they weren't ready for the reveal, they could have cut out all the Possessed?!? scenes and maybe jumped into how this whole evil possession thing works. Like I want to know things!
Why a cop, why marry Eun Hee? Why talk her down the ledge for that matter? I thought he'd be happy to see more death? How'd you manage to fake marriage for this long dude?
2. I hate that I couldn't even enjoy the past 4 episodes of JJS and PBY much because ever since they got together, all I've been wondering is why on Earth did Soon Ae have to be in there 24/7? When your plot can't justify that, it takes the fun out of the scenes. Like the constant back and forth actually created more fun. BS doesn't know what SA is doing and ejecting her at odd moments and watching BS try to figure out wth is going on would have been great.
3. I love Soon Ae. I want her to solve her murder mystery. I'm glad she's gotten to feel human and live life a little again. I'm happy she got her emotional journey. Her Father-Daughter moments kill me. But I'm so disappointed that we got short changed Bong Sun's story. For everyone trying to justify this by saying she didn't have much of a personality to show needs to take a second look. Our first episode hinted at her passion for making food and wanting to really learn and become a professional. But she got next to none of that growth or those special lessons. She never got to showcase her talent. Her personality is reduced to loving Chef and being confused all the time.
Yet if the writer gave her more than one collective minute on screen every episode, we could actually see who SHE is. Where's her family? Wth happened to grandma? How'd she come to be here? Following SW? His food? Did she go to college? People who say one personality is boring and another is fun make no sense to me. There's a story in every person. Clearly she has smarts and spunk even if she doesn't show it as loudly as Soon Ae. And there's NOTHING wrong with that. I don't necessarily have to relate to my fave character to love her, as long as I can see why they do the things they do within the confines of their story. I don't see that with BS in that I don't think she'd get kissed and be confessed to and then say cool, I'll just go enjoy amnesia while you date my boyfriend for me. Not completely at least.
Anywho, I'm curious to see if SA is just going to go ahead with the ceremony like before (attempt) or dare to try to use what little time she has to find out how she died first. And I'm really curious to see how they resolve the SW-SA plot.

My theory about SJ:

He makes the girls fall for him by playing hero and then destroy their lives after.

Eun Hee's situation gave us some clue. SJ was obviously involved in her accident. But after that, he appeared in her life and became her saviour, giving her will to live.

Soon Ae's situation was similar. She fell for him. He killed her after.

Bong Sun too. Before he realised that she was Soon Ae, he showed care for her. Played with her hair. Basically turning on the charm until now..he finally finds a reason to kill her.

I don't know how any of these explain his motive though.

Have some faith. The next 5 epis will be zippy and adorkable at the same time.

That's a good point about him making these girls fall for him and then killing them later. But I wonder why he kept her alive.
Yeah it definitely clarifies his methods though I guess we'll have to wait and see the why.
Lol I think I've been burned by dramas too much. If they haven't picked up for me this late in the game, they never really will. Usually the time for developing characters is early in the show so with so many questions to answer, they're only going to have time now to move the plot along to the finish line.
Lazy writing to be honest. They saw how much people love the cutesy adorableness of PBY as SA and decided to pour the bucket load of sugar straight into our mouths without actually using it to make something enjoyable.

ok let me list down the stuff show needs to resolve for it to be considered a good drama:

1. Sung Jae Sung Jae Sung Jae. (seriously, why isn't his backstory not explored more extensively?)

2. Soon Ae's death and ascend to heaven.

3. Closure for Soon Ae's father and brother.

4. The explanation to Sun Woo bit.

Whoa. Quite a lot of grounds to cover in 4 episodes :(

I loved the dorky bits. Its my feel good to go to after a long day at work. But I also love a good story. I hope the next episode will be spent exploring point 1 and 2. 3 and 4 can come during the finale.

I agree that the story on BS was overlooked by the writer. I was looking forward to more posts of BS on her blog because that's where chef initially connected to her even before SA came into the picture. If only that part was retained, the BS-SW love angle would be more solid despite the longer hours that SA stayed in BS body.

OMG My thoughts exactly. You said everything that's been bothering me for the last 3 episodes or so. It's all fun and all but I'm getting tired of seeing the same thing over and over again. And I really, really don't understand Soon Ae being in her body 24/7 as you said. What do we get out of it? It would have been even more fun to have them changing back and forth even for the show's sake.. But I guess that's too much of a bother for the writers?
And when I watch the show seeing Soon Ae having all the fun and patiently waiting for BS to show herself, live her life, and then she gets like 1 minute in the end of the episode. Like, what is that?

Yes, I've been wanting the separation of the 2 girls for ages. There is so much that they can do and help each other out on as individuals. It's time they spend long periods apart and develop on their own and come back again to maybe dovetail their experiences and information where it is most helpful. :)

Exactly. Soon Ae's emotional development had so many factors but the only two they played was her father-daughter moments and then her falling in love moments. These are solid plots obviously but when you rinse and repeat the same thing for 10 episodes, you get desensitized to it. I felt SA's desperation when her father was unconscious. I understood her pull to be close to him. But you never get the sense that she wants to give her father peace before she passes which is so odd to me because if you're going to leave your loved ones, wouldn't you want them to feel closure?
Yeah even BS sees that she's been out of touch with everything. Because the unni she trusts has been using her past what's reasonable. I get why SA would do it but from a story's perspective, we're having to assume a LOT about her motives to give her the benefit of a doubt when we should be able to pick up on it.

You're listing the same things that I was putting down as plot holes and questions I wanted answered. I posted something in OT, but I think I'll leave it there rather than copy it over here. :)

True indeed..this episode's plot should have happened in ep 7-8.. The idea of SA getting laid should have settled earlier, the girl has been confused for the last 10 eps..
Ive been dissapointed once for having high hopes for the writer the wrap up a story nicely..maybe not this one..
Love the casting though..

The writer simply doesn't care about peripheral characters like Bong-sun. Bong-sun never acts like she even is a character in this story. She's just there so Soon-ae has a body to her disposal.

@GrowingBeautifully, lol I'll try to check out your comment there but I'm glad we're on the same page!

@Eslene yeah I'm so annoyed. I've been wanting a solid JJS drama since forever. After K2H and the shambles that was YTBLSS I saw this as being the perfect blend of cute and heartfelt wish so much story to tell. I kept telling myself at episode 7 that at least we got more BS. Maybe now things will change. Yeah nope, they went right back to doing nothing in circles right after that.

@Jon G. Yeah I see that but it's like this is YOUR (writer's) character and she's an actual person however meek she may be. You wrote this girl to be like this for a reason. And if you tell me it's so that people won't question why the quiet one isn't playing any role in her own story, I'm just quit while I'm ahead. Like you could have used a life sized doll/robot/name your inanimate object and gotten the same plot out of it.

This was a great episode =) Soon Ae, my girl, I hope she finds her peace soon. She deserves it.

Anyway, on to something totally weird cuz it bothered me for a while:

Remember the scene when Kyung Mo came to the restaurant with dad and then Soon Ae hurriedly left the restaurant? Ok so after that he said something about the way Sun Woo looked at Soon Ae when he fixed the hose.

But if we recall that very scene...Kyung Mo was not there when the hose was fixed by Sun Woo. Reason I remember was because I was thinking to myself what a useless son Kyung Mo is lol.

This annoyed but for a good minute. haha.

Yes, you are right! If I recall it correctly, the bro walked in when they were eating after they were done fixing the hose.

i think probably the subs are off, and he said something along the lines of how sun-woo looked at her when he came over to fix the hose. so, not while he was fixing the hose, because kyung mo wasn't there, but that time when he came over to fix the hose....because he saw them eating together at the restaurant, shortly afterwards.

I just love how sweeeet SW is and the way he makes up when there are misunderstandings. But it bugs me how till now he doesn't want people to know about them why i don't get it?!?!?!

So so so proud of soon ae that was such a major decision that proves shes a very good ghost and I'm glad we r shifting to her death story its about time.

But ugh giving the diary to the officer i wonder if that puts Bong. Sun in trouble ugh tht would really suck but maybe would be used to have soon ae remember when happened to her.

This is probably the saddest love triangle ever. The best and my favorite but so sad.

You could see how SW changed the way he treated SA after she stopped going after him so obviously and forcefully. If she only realized that was how to get him instead of jumping him every chance she got... though she did lack knowledge in that department when she was alive.

I knew it was PBY singing that song when I first heard it play in the drama! I wasn't sure but it sounded a lot like her. I love her singing voice so much.

Wait- did SA push BS? Wasn't she trying to enter her body with that sprint? I thought she was surprised because she couldn't enter BS's body. I do admit it makes no sense that she wouldn't be able to enter so maybe as a bad spirit, she experienced a burst of energy to touch and push a solid material.

I have a feeling the cop drowned SA in his bathtub and of course, sent the text message to dad himself but why? What for?

Thanks GF for a speedily and well done recap!

I'm happier again this episode, not that lies are being got out of the way, Bong Sun is starting to make independent and more informed decisions, Soon Ae is able to let her better nature take over and the start (I hope) of major reveals is on the way.

Although I was one of those shouting, "No!" to Soon Ae's giving Sung Jae the diary... I felt it was a natural progression and the step needed to move the plot forward super fast. Sung Jae now has no reason to be puzzled or hesitate. He is going to start acting quickly and malevolently, and in that way, will tip his own hand.

With danger now bordering on the real Bong Sun, we need Sun Woo in the know about what's going down. We need Shaman unni to step up and protect both the living and the dead, and we need Soon Ae to remember lots more or get Bong Sun to investigate her life for her.

I agree with GF that the issue now is not just about getting the better of Sung Jae, but giving Soon Ae's family peace and closure about her dying. We need to also consider poor Eun Hee.... what a shock to have been married to so much evil! And if there is still a good person in Sung Jae, I'd want to see him regain his life. When I look at the poster of the 4 main characters, Sung Jae is there looking just fine. I'd like to think that, that is an indication he is meant to not be written off as the resident bad guy, but that he would also have a hopeful resolution.

I just wanted to add what occurred to me...

Unlike the time Soon Ae was desperate for Bong Sun to help her call the ambulance for her father and ran in to possess her, this time there was a miasma of evil about her and a look of malevolence in her eyes. She rushed towards Bong Sun to hurt her, and it was an 'on-impulse', impetuous move, and not within Soon Ae's control. No wonder she was so shaken and left. It was a necessary scare to herself and a warning that she would have to take care of letting the evil take over.

There is a similarity to when Sung Jae acts to protect himself, he does it with little delay and his acts are always to hurt badly or kill. Malevolent spirit indeed! He's definitely going to be finding ways to get at Bong Sun now. Pity he cannot tell if Soon Ae is inside her or not, or whether the person giving him the diary was Soon Ae or Bong Sun. Not knowing means he will target Bong Sun anyway and the poor girl does not even have a clue!!!

Seems like Chef is fond of patting/rubbing/touching the real Bong Sun's head, eh? The real Bong Sun hasn't had a proper kiss with Chef, right, right? She only experienced the last few seconds of the kitchen kiss, that's all, right?

Seems that way! The kiss I mean... but about the head patting... there are references to puppy and cocker spaniel and we have Chef keeping the dog... our writer might be a dog lover!!! However each time Bong Sun gets her head patted or stroked, I kind of feel that she's being treated like a kid or worse... like a pet!!! So come on Chef, this is the real, live girl... give her a proper kiss! :)

Omg. I love how bongsun's character developed in a way that she now gets what she wants. From the very start, all I want is for her to get all of her hearts desires. Last week, I was kind of scared on how her character would end up with sunwoo (becoz lets face it, soonae will never end up with sunwoo, shes a ghost). Their ending would make or break this drama for me. How the writers reason out their happily ever after is going to be a huge part of my decision if i'll file this drama on my favorites folder. This drama obviously is heading towards a happy ending (im 95% sure) and for sure that happy ending is sunwoo getting the girl that he loves. Since he wont be able to get soonae, he obviously would end up with bongsun. But with soonae getting all the airtime with bongsun's body, i was wondering how the sunwoo-bongsun pairing would ultimately get that happily ever after with a good reason of an ending. Now that soonae has decided to let go, i am kind of confident that this drama would have enough time to develop bongsun and sunwoo (there are still 5 eps right?). How that would go about, i cant wait. And since i also have learned to love soonae, i wish that she gets to ascend and finish her grudge (which i think is now knowing the real reason she died) with a bang. Gaaah. This drama is 대박!!

Im Juhwan.. i still love you even of you are a crazy psychopath. Hahaha!

Finally! Classes are over and I have time to obsess over this show!

I have had so much to say about it each week, but I just had no time until now. I was getting a little worried about its direction last week, but, after this episode, I've decided to believe that the writer chose to build this feeling of unease with purpose and means to address it, not ignore it. I'm, of course, referring to the obvious character-focus imbalance going on with Soon-ae and Bong-sun.

I haven't gotten as frustrated with Soon-ae as some despite some moments of immaturity that bother me. And it's simply because where she's coming from is so human. Of course she'd want to experience at least a little taste of first love, and, honestly, I think I'm actually happy things played out this way so that she did get to experience romance, even if it never completely belonged to her.

In the end, I'm just happy that the show seems to be aware of the issues it's presenting. Now I'm just really hoping it will follow through with Bong-sun taking control of her life because I've wanted that for so long now.

To be honest, I was actually always sorta hoping that Soon-ae would have been coaching her and giving her guidance for part of this time together, instead of doing everything with Sun-woo herself. Partially because it would have evened out the relationship time with Sun-woo, but mostly because I wanted more bonding and friendship. I've just loved the tastes of it we've gotten. But I'm sure we'll have more of that down the line, as Soon-ae's mystery starts playing a larger role in coming eps.

Anyway, I'm choosing to have faith in this show now because, when it comes down to it, it's such a sweet, touching watch. It's pretty much impossible for me not to love it at this point.

And, okay, if I'm being completely honest, a lot of this is because I have fallen completely in love with Chef. Like, I just love Jo Jung-seok in this role, perhaps more than I've loved any male lead...ever. I mean, we'll see if it sticks, but it seriously feels like that right now. Healer was the last character to make me swoon this much, but I actually think it's possible that Sun-woo's surpassed even him now. Everything he says and does just makes me adore him more and more. I don't even know what to do with myself...

Hi my dear Chandler!
It's been a while since you were able to write quite this much. Good to see you back for a bit and loving a new show and a new 'beau' lol!

I'm agreeing with all that you say here.

Yes Chef is totally swoonworthy... wish I could relive my youth and have a boyfriend like him.

What I'm contiually super amused about though is how he turns almost everything he says to Bong Sun about their relationship, even if it was his apology, into praise for himself!!! Just had to lol about it! Dear, sweet, insecure, attention-loving man. (But in RL, I'd have told my man off by now for making everything about himself! Heheheh!)

I'm rewatching Healer right now, and am thinking of dropping by the ep 20 recap at some point to post a bit too :)

"What I’m contiually super amused about though is how he turns almost everything he says to Bong Sun about their relationship, even if it was his apology, into praise for himself!!!"

- Omg, this is like my favorite part about him. I think it's because he manages to do it without ever really making an ass of himself. Everything he says and does comes from the right place, and him acting in that way just endears me more to him.

You know the frustration I have with too much SA isn't even @ her because I totally get why she's doing it. But honestly it's the whole 24/7 possession that bugs me. Like how is BS completely okay with entire days being completely erased from her memory? She doesn't get to see the guy she's in love with at all. How does that make sense? You'd think she'd say something like "can I spend sometime with him? Just to see him.". How are you okay giving up time with the guy you're in love with? Because either it's deliberate on SA's part which means she's got a lot more to feel guilty about or it's unintentional and the writer had amnesia herself and forgot there were two ladies in one body that he/she was writing.

I have a feeling that even if Soon Ae moves on, BS and SW will not end up together because of her. Or they'll leave it open ended with the hint of the two possibly starting over in the future. Both of which is just meh and really unsatisfactory no matter who you root for really.

So many exclamation marks for this episode it was so good!!!!!!

Now *this* is the drama that The Time We Were Not in Love should have been but never quite made it to lift off.

I'm just shocked how well this was written, cast and acted. And it's showing no signs of slacking, unlike some dramas when they get to this point.

I know it's going to be 16 episodes, which is just right. If things go well, this will be one of the dramas where the writer actually knows where the story will go/conclude well ahead. And not just making things up as they go along.

As for the plot so far...I'm amazed at Sun Woo's acting range and how convincing he is whether he's acting the over-confident master Chef at his own photo shoot, or as a remorseful boyfriend trying to make up for wronging his love, or...as a would-be Romeo under the sheets!

I love that it's just a winning cast. The kitchen staff especially, then the 2 leading girls, the shaman, Sun Woo's mother, Soon Ae's bro etc. I really like Sous chef too, he's the one guy we love to hate to love. Ha ha, great show, one of the memorable ones of 2015.

Just hope it doesn't go tooo dark by the end episodes and just leave us with gutted, gaping holes in our hearts when we discover the whole nasty truth about Soon Ae's death.

Okay, I was at a precipice last time, thinking I couldn't take another episode of lying to BS. I was able to take a step back because of this episode. Thank you, Soon Ae, for doing the right thing. Now the show has to address the bigger picture - by which I mean the mystery and BS's development as more than a conveniently docile character. I will gladly stay to watch the rest of this as long as this forward momentum of the story does not fail. There are still so many unanswered questions, and now is the time give them to us before we truly feel the answers have come too late to save the story.

That said, it was no surprise to me that everyone thinks Soon Ae committed suicide. I suspected that as soon as we saw that she drowned because it made sense as a perfect cover for murder, something that a killer would think to do to hide his crime. I was really frustrated however when Soon Ae handed the diary over to SJ, despite knowing she had no inkling of his true nature. Scenes like that, where the victim unknowingly places herself in the line of sight of the killer just make me upset. I guess that's why it's good for drama. But, Show, can we please hurry up with SJ making more people suspicious, besides the partner who is faking memory loss? PLEASE?

Oh, one more thing - JJS is ridiculously wonderful in this show. I've always been a huge fan of his work but there's nothing better when he's playing a guy falling in love. Every time he just turns into this sweet, dorky character. I bet he falls in love like this in real life.

am i the only one who is wondering which of the girls does SW actually love?
He likes BS unknowingly because of her blog and he even prepares the porridge she likes when she was sick which was in her blog. He always gets fluttered and happy when BS is smiling happily and being shy and cute. He has always cared for her from the beginning because she resembled him when he was young(saying sorry all the time and getting bullied by her seniors).
But, didn't he notice her in a romantic way and fall for her only after she was possessed by SA. Wasn't SA the one who made him move on in his life? She made him forgive his school-mates who bullied him in the past by giving the whole "forgive people to be happy" lecture. He kissed BS because SA had a moment with him.
According to the story plot it's the story of a girl who gets possessed by a ghost and then the hero starts to acknowledge her after the change in her character. but 10 episodes passed and we didn't really see the story of BS.
Moreover, what will happen when SW finds out the reason behind BS's multiple personality.??? Which character did he actually fall her.????? If it's BS's sweet innocent character, why did the writers make such a deal making SA stay in BS's body 24*7 and not developing BS's character till now.??
If it's SA's wild and care-free personality then the plot is so messed up. if he finds out the truth wouldn't it be awkward for him to accept BS.
I hope the next 5 episodes is full of BS and SW rather than SA and SW. it would be better if SA focuses on finding the reason behind her death.

Thoughts on my mind:

Oh the last scene!!!! Kudos to Bong Sun for being decisive on holding on to oori Chefi's love.

Like what girlfriday said, I am proud of Soon Ae on choosing the right decision but I am still a little sad. I practically could not decide who to cheer for between Soon Ae or Bong Sun.

The story is making a great progress, with Soon Ae choosing to let go and Bong Sun deciding to hold on.

Isn't it ironic that the two title of OST's are contradiction of each other??? (Stay by Ben and Leave by Park Bo Young)
