I tried to watch Gaksital this weekend, but the terrible dance scene in the club just turned me off.

I also thought that dancing scene was kind of odd at first, but as the series went on I sort of came to miss those times when people were happy and dancing and singing.
I think the first episodes of Gaksital aren't the best, but at one point they start getting increasingly better. I think it was around episode 8. I know it sounds like a lot, but there's still 20 episodes left after that and they make up for whatever you didn't like in the beggining (at least it was like that for me). Those first 8 episodes aren't completely irrelevant, plot stuff happens, but the pacing is off and there's many stuff that I didn't care as much about. But afterwards the story picks up and it's really kind of epic. Though it's rather grimm which may not appeal to everybody.
