It’s Name That Drama again! As always, feel free to email us your questions and requests for future Name That Drama installments.
- I’m not TOTALLY sure this is a real question… Are you trolling me? You might be trolling me. But here it is anyway:
This drama was a really really really really really really new drama. Only problem is I watched that drama faithfully for the whole drama and I can’t remember the name.
The lead boy was Ji Chang-wook and the lead girl was the kiddo who was in Sungkyunkwan Scandal. I remember every little detail minus the name. I could find it by looking in the search engine, but way too lazy for that.
- Old school
When I was in college, my roommate’s mom used to bring us K-dramas to watch. Roomie would then explain the plot to me. Well, we never finished the last one, and now I’d like to, but I have no idea what it is.
It was around 1997, so it’s old. I’m pretty certain the Korean name is something like “Pogo do Pogo” though I actually have no idea. Anyway, it was a family drama and the older brother was a prosecutor and the younger one was a cop. They were dating two sisters, except the older brother liked the younger sister and vice versa. Anyway, the families objected because they both felt the oldest has to marry before the younger.
I may have some plot points wrong–it was a looong time ago, and there were no subtitles. I’d love to finish it sometime.

- Next-door neighbors?
There’s a Korean drama I’ve been looking for that I saw once. All I can remember is that the love interest was rich and that his house was connected to the house of the woman he loved and her child that she had with another man, his brother I think. There was one scene where he was putting the boy to bed, but I can’t remember anything else.
- Marriage first, then feelings, then suicide
My older sister told me about a movie that was about a girl that got in trouble with a boy, and for revenge he married the girl. After he married her he started liking her. Their families also did not like each other, because of this the boy and girl ran away. At the end the guy and girl ended up killing themselves. I really want to watch this. Please help me figure this out.
- Tribute to an emperor
I only remember one scene and I think it’s the opening scene: It’s very visually arresting, lots of sweeping long shots. If it is Korean, it must be a sageuk. But I also remember China possibly being involved… A king is paying tribute to another emperor who he owes allegiance to. He walks down a path through a white field to a pavilion where the other emperor is. He kneels down and bows his head to the ground and when he raises his head, his forehead is bloody. The colours are sombre, with white, black and grey being the main colours.
…And that’s about all that I can remember!
- Sailor girl band
I got a real tough one…
ALL I seriously remember was that it was either a Korean or Japanese drama (that I really liked) and at the end of each episode (I believe)… you know how at the end of an Asian drama there’s a music video? Well from this drama the music video showed this Asian girl band in an underground setting in sailor school uniforms (like Sailor Moon red, white, and blue). Any guesses?

This book was a really really really really really really old. Only problem is I read that book faithfully for the whole length and I can’t remember the name.

It's a Korean drama, two people (the male lead and I think second female lead) lived in a house connected by one path or sth like that. That woman had a child, but I don't remember if that was his brother's child. I think he called him hyung but it wasn't really his brother. And he was quite close with the boy, so he might have put him to bed once.

Yeah, I agree #3 sounds like Me Too, Flower starring Lee Ji-Ah and Yoon Shi-Yoon. Awww, the memories - their game of striptease at the police station precinct still puts a smile on my face and their kiss in the restaurant is still in my top ten of great kdrama kiss scenes. :)

I just double checked to make sure I wasn't mistaken about the kid. Found a fun fact: The actor who played the little boy in Me Too, Flower! is the real-life older brother of the adorable younger tot in Master's Sun.

It definitely does sound like Ishaqzaade, though I'm not sure! But then, I never heard anyone asking for anything Indian here in DB, so I guess it's something Korean/Chinese/Japanese. definitely not Taiwanese, becoz the dramas there are not that hardcore into violence or something like that!

Yes #4 totally sounds like ishaqzaade. But since the story is essentially a retelling of Romeo n Juliet I think there are several others that could fit the bill. But IMO ishaqzaadey is the strongest contender. The person who asked the question did say zie heard about it from zir older sister. So effectively any drama or movie would fit.
Shout out to other interested music lovers, the movie has some seriously lovely music. Definitely worth a lists.

Except I'm pretty sure the older brother was the cop, and the younger brother was some sort of (originally) third-rate producer of concerts/variety/dance shows? I remember their little cousin dancing to a recording of one of them and their aunt telling him off for not having a better role model or something.

agreee. i've never seen it (or heard of it, either) but the asker mentioned the title being 'something like pogo do pogo' so i googled 보고 또 보고 and it came up immediately.

3) Definitely Me Too Flower! Though it wasn't a really good one. But you decide it if it's worth watching or not.

#3 kinda reminds me of Last Scandal of My Life, starring the late Choi Jinsil. The lead man is an actor and his love interest is his first love who, through certain circumstances, works in his house as a live-in housekeeper. The only difference is that the boy is the son of the actor's brother, who also lives with him.

At first I thought there was no way it was this drama, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized they could've just gotten the details a bit mixed up, and forgotten that the heroine had a daughter. I think I do remember a scene where he watches the boy sleeping after discovering he's his son, and his brother did have a prominent role in keeping the secret from him.

Anyone has seen jdrama Last Cinderella? i think that could be for the no.6.
i vaguely remember that at the end of every episode there is a singer with some band members wearing sailor (sailor moon) outfit.
Not really sure though, since someone one in the earlier comment said that kdrama He's Beautiful has similar end-music video.

I don't know the answer to #1, but it reminded me of a drama I watched not too long ago that had a one word title. It was about a boy with a birth secret and a girl who had a disease named after a Disney cartoon. (Peter Pan Syndrome? Snow White-itis? Frozen-condition? Beauty and the Beast plastic surgery addiction? Rats. I just can't seem to recall.)

I'd say that #6 is a Japanese drama, since Korean usually don't have some sort of music video at the end. But are you sure that it was a girl band? It can't have been boys dressed up as girls?

I just saw a historical drama with both Korean and Japanese characters, and it even had a volcano. But I'm sure it wasn't mainstream, because it takes place in a Joseon where most of the population was hard of hearing. Every other scene had someone saing "What did you just say?" or "Did you just say that . . ." or "What am I hearing?" The king, a tragic figure, had minions who kept murdering his opponents and he was always shocked, even though they almost always him ahead of time that they were going to "deal with" or "remove" his enemies.

It's almost 3am and I've just finished revising for my mid-semester exam for later today. Decided to check DB just before to bed, feeling rather tired....but LMAO at the first question HAHAHA!!! Haha thanks @GB :) I rested well after the exam. I always try to get in at least 6 hours sleep before an exam but that week I had so many other commitments with RL other than just my studies so that's why I lacked sleep. Sleep is important and yes you're more prone getting sick too if you don't sleep properly. Same with stress :)

Sumee hello dear! :) haha ikr just the word Healer brought me. I've been busy studying lately. It's second year of med school and enjoying it so far, although I do miss my job and colleagues back at the research institute. And I miss Healer days. My mid-semester is over and I have 1 more month before final exam week.
As for watching dramas, since Healer ended I have watched or got hooked into any dramas yet. I've tried watching Blood since that aired after Healer but I gave up and dropped it. I was never a fan of GHS's acting so it was so hard to ignore it even if I love vampire genres. Yesterday I decided to watch Orange Marmalade because Lee Jong Hyun is in it and I'm hooked. I'm a Boice so that was literally the only drama I've been looking forward to after Healer ended. So yeah, Orange Marmalade is my next drama addiction, :) but final exams are coming soon so I may not be able to watch much dramas until after. How about you dear, what have you been up to? :)

Yes!! I was racking my brain to figure out where I had seen the video and I think I remember, this MV came up after an episode of some korean show. I think the two are completely unrelated, it was just the channel promoting WAX's new song.

I don't think #5 is Cruel Palace... I seem to remember that scene from a sageuk I watched not too long ago (though it was older, because I only heard about it from someone), and I definitely haven't watched Cruel Palace. I went to check out the first episode and it didn't have the long, sweeping shots the asker mentioned, which I also remember from the drama I watched. Will have to look into this now that it piqued my curiosity...

Oh I am pretty sure (5) is Cruel Palace - the king with the blooded forehead is Injo (probably my favourite version of Injo - though I have enjoyed his portrayal by other actors in recent dramas).

I am looking for the name of a drama where a little girl sees her parents get killed (said mother also worked in palace, witnessed a plot to kill a royal then kitchen maids try to kill her but her best friend saves her), she ends up in the palace working in the kitchen. There is a golden chicken plot, lots of scheming, she gets exiled with her mentor who dies. The heroine then secretly trains to be a doctor and ends up back at the palace as a nurse. Lots of scheming; she ends up healing the king. She escapes from palace with her husband. Has a daughter and then all three return to palace.
Said husband is extremely hot. No idea what the drama is. Not sure if well known.
Any ideas?

And I laughed when Bashful said "said husband is extremely hot". Hehehe Ji Jin-hee was such a fanboy for Jang-geum's awesomeness so he kept supporting her in her endeavors.
