Lee Jun-ki signs on to become vampire scholar

If ever there was a perfect example of conflicted feelings, this situation would be it. Since the first announcement that Lee Jun-ki (aka Prince of the Fusion Sageuk, aka Junkiiiiiiiiiiii) was offered the title role of MBC’s new Joseon-era vampire fantasy drama Scholar Who Walks the Night, we’ve been on pins and needles for him to sign on the dotted line. Otherworldly beauty? Check. Noble scholar aura? Check. Badass action skills? Check. It’s a no-brainer, really.
But that was also back when Han Groo was offered the part of the crossdressing heroine who falls for him. She ended up passing on the project, and Jin Se-yeon (Doctor Stranger) is now being courted for the role instead. I’d cry a river of tears and have a rage fit if I hadn’t done that already. I’m sorry for those of you who were holding out hope that it was an April Fool’s joke. It wasn’t, but on the (albeit tiny) bright side, she isn’t confirmed?
On the other hand, Lee Jun-ki has now confirmed that he’ll be headlining the drama, which means that I’m ecstatic about him playing the vampire scholar, but torn about him having picked up the drama at all, if I’m going to be sad about what could have been.
Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to get over it. Though if anyone knows how to snap someone out of a catatonic state, it’d be helpful — javabeans has been unresponsive since the news hit.
Scholar Who Walks the Night plans to follow the Hong sisters drama Warm and Cozy in July.

While JSY is a poor actress, this hatred against her is a bit irrational.
I feel the problems with her last couple of dramas were more a fault of the script and the production. She was poorly written in both. I did enjoy her role in Gaksital which was written and directed much better than her last two dramas.

um, it is not the scripts. she is totally clueless in the dramas, it is not just that she can´t express anything, it is like she hasn´t got any idea what exactly she should express. she is like a sheep on the field with her clueless eyes.

So glad I have the option to mute some people, the desperation in the comments is so real, as if a petition will work, you're better off commenting in the Korean articles, upvote those comments. It worked with Han Groo.

Well, to be fair, I thought PSH would ruin Pinocchio and she turned out awesome so... perhaps comedy (anything with a cross-dressing female is comedy, no?) might bring out her acting chops?

Yay for LJK....let's hope the actress improved her acting skills somehow. She is not confirmed yet, is she? There is still hope, otherwise I'm sorry LJK you are the actor who got me interested into Korean dramas, but I can't watch her. She should buy the book 'Strenght Finder', maybe after she reads it she will realize that acting is not for her and she will find her she true calling. Good luck LJK!!!!

Rather worry about Jin Se Yeon, I'm actually not fond of the storyline. Read the webtoon and it's so cheesy, full of cliches and has no substances. Not to mention I'm always iffy about the whole vampire stuffs.
Wish LJK would take a modern drama instead. Love him but kinda tired of seeing him in Saeguk outfits ~

The only thing I've seen him in is Arang & the Magistrate. When I first saw a picture of him with hair I was like, "... what the hell? That's his real hair? JUST NO." So I guess I prefer him in haberdashery.

nope I dont hate her. stating that someone cannot act when they CANNOT is just objective criticism. and I really don´t enjoy hating people. I would rather not be so critical, but what can I do if she is giving us reason (after reason, after reason?)
it would suit her to be a youtube star who takes a "deer in the headlights" picture of herself every day for 5 years or something. but acting?

Did Han Groo's reps give any comment on why they declined this casting? WAEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I mean does she have better projects lined up, it's been almost A YEAR since her last drama. UGH.

Jun Ki has to act very well.

If I can live through Blood (stop with the shots of the villain sitting around already), I can deal with any bad acting to get Lee Joon Ki as a Vampire Scholar. ::happy dance::
And maybe Han Groo will see that Lee Joon Ki signed, and change her mind? We can only hope.

Is this Jin se Yeon liked by Korean audience or something?? some award shows arent that reliable but I looked up and she has a few awards under her belt... maybe people like her a lot?! Theres people -like Kim Tae Hee/Lee min ho/Lee Yeon Hee/Lee Sang Woo/Kim HyunJoong imo- that get all kind of roles when they cant act but because "people like them", theyre eeeeverywheree...
anyways, idk much about Lee jun ki but I like a good vampire story!

OMG!!! NO!! I was actually praying hard that Junki will drop this drama. I just can't stand JSY acting. I watch Bridal Mask back 2012 and seriously she was the only one I can't stand in there. But I just thought she was a newbie and that she probably will get better and the I watch her in Dr. Stranger last year hoping she finally improved in her acting since it have been 2 years since BM but no she was actually worse. I drop that freaking drama halfway even though I love PHJ and KSR because of her.
I love LJK but I am not sure I can stand watching JSY acting and on top of that Changmin is the 2nd lead. And no matter how much I love DB5K, Changmin is just awkward in acting department. His a great idol and I love his voice but not his acting. I am actually worried for LJK now.

LJK is confirmed. Good. But the drama for the other castings still continued. Has Changmin confirmed? He is another miscast on the list going by how poor is acting was in MImi.And he does not have the acting s kill.Now I worried for LJK.
