First script read for KBS’s Masked Prosecutor

There’s nothing like a vigilante hero to get me excited for a new drama. Not that Kim Sun-ah (I Do, I Do) and Joo Sang-wook (Birth of a Beauty) together wouldn’t be worth watching for the cast alone, but then you give one of them a mask and a crusade to fight, and I’m there with bells on. And given that I only want Joo Sang-wook to do comedies from now on, I’m doubly excited that his prosecutor-by-day, masked-hero-by-night character sounds like a hoot.
KBS’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama Masked Prosecutor officially kicked off production with a script read led by Kim Sun-ah and Joo Sang-wook, along with co-stars Ohn Joo-wan (Punch), Hwang Sun-hee (Master’s Sun), and Jeon Gwang-ryul (Goddess of Fire Jung-yi). The drama promises a fresh and upbeat romance between a prosecutor vigilante hero and a passionate detective heroine.
Joo Sang-wook stars as a cheeky materialistic prosecutor who only cares about job security and moving up the ranks… or so he wants everyone to believe. That cover persona hides the fact that he dons a mask to fight for the justice that didn’t prevail in the courtroom. He’s described as a hot-blooded character, to whom “fist-fighting is instinct, and slyness is optional.”
Kim Sun-ah plays a chief detective who’s overflowing with passion for her job. To her, “justice is instinct and intellect is optional,” which I’m sure gets her into a bit of trouble. But her strong sense of justice and her act-first-think-later mentality puts her in pretty similar territory with the hero, except for that pesky lawbreaking vigilante problem that might put a kink in the proceedings.
Ohn Joo-wan plays a cool-headed prosecutor who represents the corrupt power that Joo Sang-wook is fighting against. They’re also half-brothers, and the hero has a personal stake in bringing his family down. Hwang Sun-hee plays an intelligent prosecutor and the daughter of the minister of justice, who graduated at the top of her class. She was classmates with Joo Sang-wook’s character, and will end up helping him.
I really hope they have some fun with the cover persona and give Joo Sang-wook lots comical character moments in between all of his big hero missions. He was reportedly cracking everyone up during the script read, so I’ll take that as a good sign.

Damn. Joo Sang Wook looks so good in everything. He's a pretty funny guy, from what I've seen on variety shows. He just loves talking.

I know...
if I only went by the characters he was playing before sly and single, I would have thought that he was the quiet type in real life as well.
I prefer him hot and cool, but it's good to know that he's dorky in real life.
I'm really looking forward to this drama because of my girl Kim Sun Ah!!!!!!!!
We will have the acting, the looks and the chemistry...that alone is reason enough for me to tune in!

Me too, I am so excited for this show! I have huge amounts of respect for the principals, I just hope the script lives up to their talents. I am sortof getting a Scarlet Pimpernel vibe from the story...can't wait!

I'm totally rewatching Daredevil right now because I can not get enough of it. The dramas I've been most excited about in the last few years were City Hunter, Gaksital, and Healer. And this is a cast I am already loving. Please be good!!!

I've been rewatching Kim Sun Ah in City Hall. She was so appealing as a strong but sensitive "everywoman". I really prefer the former natural and earthy persona to her present more glamorous style (although she does look gorgeous!).

Me too. I wish she hadn't gotten so much plastic surgery over the years; yes, she is gorgeous, but I thought she was beautiful, and more unique, in her City Hall days. And I am probably in the minority, but I think she looked best in My Name is Kim Sam Soon.

nah, if she did, she would get rid the scar in near her mouth long time ago ...she's just like used to, she just rely with the bracket tooth she used when she's filming city hall until 2010 because of jaw problem.

Nah, she is just like she used to, if she did she would get rid the tiny scar in near her mouth long time ago. If you notice the changes in her facial feature she just rely on transparent plastic bracket tooth (I know bc my sister wear it too) when she filming city hall in early 2009 until 2010 (she spotted still wore it when she held FM in Japan in 2010) because of jaw problem, now she has organized dental feature :) .

True. Although I'm also in love with the cold, scary, suave Joo Sang Wook (well I'm basically in love with whatever character he is in), a dorky, silly, wimpy, pouty, funny Joo Sang Wook is the best. No actor could compete with him in this.
Already in love with the description of the script. Forseeing total mayhem by day and by night with both the leads as the culprits.

They look gorgeous together even just sitting at the script read ! I love Kim Sun Ah since her drama "my lovely Kim sun soon" and I really like Joo Sang Wook too. Omg please let this drama be good! If not it won't be the actors fault that's for sure!

Hahaha same here, I'm praying he'll never stop coming to my my screen. He's just to good for me in acting. His looks is a bonus for me:D
He had a very bad day in his 20+, get replaced so many times in dramas that he already passed the casting.. not like young/rookie actors these days who seem easy to get the lead role in a drama/movie. So maybe I understand he doesn't want to stop working after all he had been through to reach this point. Can't blame him :D

I've missed Kim Sun Ah on my TV. This sounds different from my usual fair too, so I'm looking forward to a change up in my TV watching habits! Oh gosh... so many exciting dramas coming in May and June! How to find the time to watch them all!

I have only ever seen Joo Sang Woo in Birth of a Beauty and thought he did an excellent job. He had tons of charm and humor and hope that carries over into this.
Also, I am super excited for this drama. The premise sounds great! It's like the Korean Daredevil. Hope it lives up to my expectations.

I really want to like Kim Sun-ah. I thought I would relate to her and be able to put myself in place of her characters, and perhaps that is the problem, maybe I related to well and could handle the second-hand embarrassment.
I have tried watching several of her dramas and have yet to finish one.
I did really enjoy her movie Girl Scouts.
I am not trying to be a debbie downer, really!
I Love the male lead and the premise sounds fun so I will try watching and I will not go on line and piss and moan about how I do not like this or that. If I cannot watch it I will just not watch it. [pinky promise]

Kim Sun Ah did a hilarious straight-talking hot-headed female cop in She's On Duty (movie with dishy Gong Yoo) - as an undercover high school girl, no less! I'm really looking forward to this - hope it has a similar vibe!

I think Joo Sang Wook and comedy are just GOLD. haha. I haven't watched any Kim Sun ah drama after The City Hall and that was years ago. Perhaps with JSW in, I am going to enjoy a KSA series again.Hopefully.
