Awkward family bonding for Superdaddy Yeol

I wasn’t sure I could see Lee Dong-gun playing a scraggly (albeit well-meaning) loafer type (he’s so pretty and chic!), but I love how well he pulls it off in the first teaser for Superdaddy Yeol, even if it’s barely a thirty-second glimpse of the character. I’d love for him to get a solid, endearing role since his last one (Mi-rae’s Choice) sort of fizzled into disappointment, and I’m crossing my fingers that PD Song Hyun-wook, who turned Marriage Not Dating into a sparkling romantic comedy, will work the same magic for Superdaddy Yeol.
The drama is based on a webtoon and features Lee Dong-gun as the title character, a longtime bachelor who once dreamed of having a happy family of his own. He’s never fully gotten over the hurt of being dumped by his longtime first love and decided that he prefers being alone… until he reconnects with that first love (played by Lee Yuri of Jang Bori Is Here) after ten years. She’s now a doctor and single mom with a nine-year-old daughter named Sa-rang, and when she proposes that they marry (in the webtoon she specifies a contract marriage), Yeol agrees and finds himself suddenly a stepfather. He vows to work hard to being the best dad and husband… though that’ll be an uphill climb, naturally, with laughs and tears along the way.
In the teaser, Yeol and Sa-rang force smiles for a camera while bickering at each other through their teeth: She sniffs that he’s not the dad she wanted, and he sniffs right back about hardly being one. Then Mom comes racing at them to get into the shot and shoves their heads together for the happy family portrait.
The show looks sweet with potential for a lot of heart-tugging moments, and the leads are both great, so I’m hoping it delivers! Superdaddy Yeol replaces Heart to Heart in tvN’s Friday-Saturday timeslot, and premieres on March 13.

I am trying to remember where I first saw Lee Dong Gun without googling it. can't remember yet but when I saw him again as Main Lead for Marry him if you dare, I just thought he didn't have any chemistry with Yoon Eun Hye, then add insult to injury that the story was so bad, the memory of LDG acting so lifeless, deadpanning all the time in that show , burns in our minds. wait have to google..
ok, so I saw him in this movie My Boyfriend is Type B, he was ok there but maybe he is just too bland for me. Well, I hope this would really do well just to help forget that "mirae's choice" which really did a lot of damage particularly on Yoon Eun Hye's.
am really hoping for YEH to get back to dramaland with a winning team this time and a really good project. Maybe TVN can help?

I am still bitter about Mi Rae's Choice and am glad that he chose to go with TvN this time. Even though it is a cable channel, starring in a TvN drama is turning out to be a 'safe' choice for actors. Not all of their dramas are hits, but there are no trainwrecks either.

I agree!! I should just completely erase Mirae's Choice from my memory... Glad LDG is back!!
I also think it's practically impossible for this drama to be worse than MC right? :)

Ha, me too! I read this when I just woke up and was still a bit groggy. Was thinking while reading: Was he the newscaster or the chaebol?... *cant recognize him from the stills*... Which one was the lead in Mirae's choice?... *still can't remember* ... Well who got the girl?... *oh yeah*....*sigh*... That. *scowl*... I want a refund of my time so I can catch up on sleep.

Well..I did catch its 1st 20mins..(coudn't watch all due to some circumstances)I thought it was pretty intriguing..enough secrets and angst for me to get interested...also a cameo by Ryu Soo Young...didn't really dissappoint me..so I'd wanna know what dramabeans recappers think abt it...
Also I think apart from Gu Hye Sun's performance..it received mixed reviews..not totally bad..so I'm hoping a miracle...:-)

Thanks for the preview. I do find most of tvN's shows enjoyable. I also like the trend to adapting web toons to dramas. Any more word about Cheese In The Trap coming to TV ?

hope the show is good. Last saw him in Sweet 18( and in My BF is type B before that) and liked it. Am glad I didn't watch MiRae's choice,after reading all the comments here. I digress,but Yoon Eun Hye deserves a good project too.

Actually, I would recommend Mirai's Choice. I thought it was a very well-written and extremely thoughtful drama. The characters were very well acted. It's just that the ending was not clear about who ended up with who. So I don't think we should throw out the baby with the bathwater. The rest of the drama was superb and worth our time watching. Very interesting plot, as a girl, I could really connect emotionally with the story.

Lee Dong gun turns out to be an actual actor. I hope this drama does better than his last one. He doesn't have to compete with Yonghwa this time at least.

liked lee yuris acting in come jang bori, then fell in love with her with her running man appearance. then went and watched her daily dramas. from twinkle to yellow boots.
im glad that shes finally gotten a break to play a primetime drama as lead. hope she gets even more popular.
too bad shes going to die in this one :(

I'm really curious about this but I know it's going to get really sad and depressing towards the end. It's a testament to TvN and MND that I'm even considering picking up a show with a MC who has a terminal illness. It does look cute though.

Mirae's Choice?? What's that?? Lee Dong-gun? Jung Yong-hwa?? Yoon Eun-hye?? MMMM, NEVER HEARD. I really don't remember anything like that in dramaland. Was there such??? I REALLY don't remember... Hahahaha!!!
Glad Lee Dong-gun is back, and with Yi-Yuri?? I'm excited, truly! The teaser is SUPER awesome! So cute! Never seen Lee Dong-gun in anything like that! I'm so stoked to see him like that. He's such a cutie! Omg! SHUCKS I have to repeat the teaser for dozens of times today! HE WAS REALLY CUTE THERE!!

I really can't find words to describe how excited I am for this drama. I'm loving the dynamic between the three of them and the teaser already has me looking forward to the MnD PD! I seriously can't wait.
