Healer: Episode 11
by javabeans
More good stuff! It’s pretty gratifying to go into each episode hoping for the best and to be rewarded, because so often we’re met with disappointment instead. This episode makes some huge strides forward with connections being drawn and continued shifts in the relationships, bringing forth some unexpected (but totally welcome) alliances, while hinting at fractured ones to come.
Also, a quick reminder: We’re a staunchly spoiler-free zone here, so please be mindful of not posting Episode 12 details in this thread while waiting for the new recap. I know waiting is hard, but spoilers are evil!

EPISODE 11 RECAP
Moon-ho returns home to find his chest of mementos open in plain sight, which puts him on alert. A call arrives from an unknown number, the voice digitally altered: the Healer.
Moon-ho knows the Healer doesn’t do phone calls, but the Healer says he’s making an exception to ask a pressing question, “when I can see your face like this.” Eek, shivers.
The lights flick off, and a shadowy figure steps into view. In his normal voice, Jung-hoo asks about the photo of the five friends, and what happened in February 1992. What payment will he require of the Healer in exchange for this information?
Moon-ho answers, “Will you show me your face?” Healer starts to reject that request, but Moon-ho holds up Young-shin’s busted cell phone and says, “Park Bong-soo.” O.M.G. He explains finding the phone in Bong-soo’s coat and links it to the elevator accident. Is the jig up?
Moon-ho now calls him Bong-soo and requests to see his face—that’s his condition for answering the question.
So Healer sighs, steps into the open, and turns on the light. He walks up to Moon-ho, takes off his glasses, and looks him straight in the eye. Aieeeeeee.
Moon-ho holds up the photograph and asks which friend he’s interested in. At Jung-hoo’s indication, Moon-ho seems to confirm a hunch and names the friend as Seo Joon-seok. Then he asks if Jung-hoo knows what “Morumoru Island” is, so-called because nobody knows where it is (mo-reu = unknown).
Itching for information, Jung-hoo impatiently replies that he’s quite serious, just as a memory hits him. He hears giggling children and a little girl’s voice asking, “Do you know what Morumoru Island is?” But he doesn’t quite know what to do with the recollection, and prompts Moon-ho to continue talking.
Moon-ho explains his noona recently telling him about a burglar whose face was strikingly similar to an old friend’s. Now Moon-ho also sees the resemblance, and has deduced why the Healer, whose existence requires such secrecy, might reveal himself to know this information.
“You, with eyes so similar to his,” he notes. “Are you Jung-hoo?”
Oof, so many emotions. Jung-hoo struggles to process, and then the girl’s voice rings in his ear again, calling out, “Jung-hoo-ya! Play with me!” The memory is visual this time: Ji-an chases Jung-hoo around a room while Teenage Moon-ho builds a fort with furniture. Ji-an declares, “It’s Morumoru Island!”
Moon-ho lets the kiddos inside and tells them to play quietly or risk pirate attack (ha, clever).
In the present, Jung-hoo’s chilliness prompts Moon-ho to sigh, “You guys used to be quite close to me.” Jung-hoo picks up on the plural and asks what happened to the girl. Moon-ho replies, “She died. In 1992.”
Jung-hoo has only now recalled Ji-an but it’s a shock to hear of her death. He turns back to the question of his father, and the person he killed. Moon-ho identifies Gil-han—the man next to him in the photo.
Jung-hoo reels, stammering, “H-he… killed his f-friend?”
But Moon-ho tells him that he asked the wrong question: “Your father was a murder suspect, not a murderer.” He died before he could clear his name, and Moon-ho asks if Jung-hoo came to him because he wants to prove his innocence.
So Moon-ho suggests working together toward that goal, and to continue his Bong-soo act at Someday to facilitate contact. Hearing of this later, Ajumma reiterates her opposition: She doesn’t like Moon-ho because he’s a facile liar. Plus, why does Jung-hoo want to clear his father’s name now, at this late date?
His answer makes her gape: “Because I want to tell her. Chae Young-shin.” He’s willing to admit to his thieving Healer duties, but not so comfortable with the my-dad-was-a-killer part.
Jung-hoo supposes that Young-shin will probably want to beat him up for lying at first, “But she’ll get over it right away, because she’s that kind of person.”
He guesses that ajumma’s ready to replace the Healer now, but asks her to hold off until he can clear Dad’s name. He has an uneasy feeling, and asks her to have his back for just a while longer. Ajumma just stares at her computer screen—and the new email that’s arrived from Young-shin. To tell or not to tell?
Young-shin arrives to a bustling office in the morning, busy in the wake of President Hwang’s suicide. Moon-ho directs his employees, sending reporters out on assignment and dealing with server problems; they’ll have to move overseas to skirt interference.
Young-shin asks Jung-hoo for the skinny, but curiously he just ignores her, leaving her hanging. Aw, is he playing the part of spurned suitor? When Moon-ho sends Young-shin on assignment, she automatically calls for Bong-soo to assist, but he ignores her again. To her confusion, he then jumps up to tag along with Moon-ho today, leaving her wondering at the sudden shift in dynamics.
Young-shin asks Bong-soo if he’s avoiding her because of their rooftop talk. He just says evasively, “Um… can you… step aside?” When she asks point-blank if he dislikes talking with her, he replies, “Yes.” HAHA. She’s so confused and disappointed at the sight of Bong-soo walking off chummily with Moon-ho, like the two have become best friends overnight. This is so great.
But the air is strained once they’re alone, as Moon-ho reminisces and Jung-hoo listens in annoyance. Moon-ho says he should’ve guessed his identity sooner, to which Jung-hoo snaps, “That would never have happened.” He bristles at Moon-ho’s familiarity and asks, “Are you going to keep doing that? Acting friendly?”
Moon-ho eyes him with sympathy as he asks how he ended up as the Healer, but Jung-hoo remains aloof and pointedly calls him Boss. Moon-ho reminds him that he used to call him Uncle.
They arrive at Moon-ho’s family junkyard, which he describes as home base for the friends and their pirate broadcasting activities. We see the flashback through his perspective, playing near his father while the friends worked and goofed off together. Moon-ho recalls, “The scenes in my memory are all like that—they’re laughing, caring, and warm.”
Jung-hoo cuts him short every time Moon-ho’s nostalgia gets too long-winded for him, and when Moon-ho mentions feeling glad to reunite with an old acquaintance, Jung-hoo says curtly that he doesn’t need to know that feeling.
Moon-ho asks kindly, “Do you have any friends? And do you have anyone to ask whether you have friends?”
Jung-hoo can’t meet his eye, and fidgets uncomfortably before putting up his bravado again, saying that he doesn’t trust Boss yet. He points out Moon-ho’s extensive investigation of Young-shin, while acting none the wiser to her face. He advises Moon-ho to drop the interest in him.
Moon-ho returns to his recounting, arriving at that day in 1992. In flashback, we see Gil-han and Joon-seok arriving together to see Moon-shik. Established as a hit reporter-photographer duo, they’re working on a new story and ask Moon-shik to borrow a car. Slush funds are being transferred tomorrow, and they want to follow; they even enlist Moon-shik as driver, like old times, so he can be in on the action.
Moon-ho recalls how the three friends headed out the next morning… and then Gil-han was dead, and Joon-seok arrested for killing him. And Moon-shik was the witness.
Moon-ho arrives at the point at hand: They need to get to the police records of Joon-seok’s interrogation when he was arrested. Moon-ho has been blocked at every turn, and he hands over a package containing all his research. He admits that he couldn’t trust the Healer either, and that he tipped off the police that the Healer would be lurking near Young-shin.
Annoyed, Jung-hoo excuses himself and heads off. Watching his exit, Moon-ho envisions Joon-seok walking next to Jung-hoo, as father and son display the exact same mannerisms. It brings a tear to his eye.
Detective Yoon and his partner find it suspicious how quickly the Hwang suicide is being wrapped up. Hwang’s suicide note is awfully convenient and informative, naming several names of important politicians as bribe-takers.
Thus Detective Yoon concludes that the Healer has aligned himself with powerful people, because they’ve managed to free him from murder suspicions very easily. Ack, a shrewd inference, except it’s wrong! Detective Yoon is just smart enough to be a royal pain in the ass—he knows enough to cause trouble, but not to solve it.
Thankfully, ajumma’s faster than Detective Yoon and hacks into the database to doctor Bong-soo’s driver’s license. An officer had pulled it up previously when it bore the original face, but he’d been distracted before showing it to Detective Yoon.
Anticipating the media furor, the Chaes arrange to have Yeon-hee moved to another location, with the family of a former client that Dad defended pro bono. Dad and Young-shin both awkwardly decline drawn-out goodbyes, only to have Yeon-hee ignore them and give her heartfelt thanks anyway.
Detective Yoon drops by the cafe looking for Young-shin, and takes a look around her father’s office. He asks if her father is in the habit of recording his consultations, and as she’s replying no, Detective Yoon spots a recording device tucked into a planter. And another one in the bookcase. Ack!
Young-shin is totally stunned, but plays it cool as the detective asks if she knows the Healer. He notes the interesting timing of events—Healer steals a video from Hwang, that video ends up in Someday’s hands, Hwang dies.
Young-shin replies that the Healer is known for not killing people, but the detective merely says that info must be out-of-date, since he is currently suspected for two murder cases. He implies that Healer forced Hwang to write his suicide note, or forged it.
Young-shin holds her shock in and feigns indifference to all this news, slapping on a smile.
Jung-hoo settles back in his Healer pad to start reading Moon-ho’s research, while Min-ja gets ready to open a can of worms. She’s finally decided to alert him to Young-shin’s email, admitting that it took her some time to think over how to handle this.
Listening only with half his attention, he tells her to read it aloud, but the moment she reads the subject line (“I am Chae Young-shin”), he jumps up and orders her to stop. Ajumma forwards it, and then hilariously starts singing along to “Some”—you know, that song about the ambiguousness of the dating game: It feels like you are, but you’re not, but kind of are mine / It feels like I am, but am not, but kind of am yours…
Jung-hoo reads the email, rapt. (And trips over his own feet.)
Young-shin: “I am Chae Young-shin. I must meet you, Healer-nim. If you don’t want me to see you, I will cover my eyes again. If you tell me not to say anything, I won’t make a sound… To have you comply and come to me, and watch from somewhere behind me—that’s all I want. That’s enough. And so, this is also a request for a date. Will you accept?”
At home, Young-shin gets dressed with anticipation. Jung-hoo heads for his closet too, disregarding ajumma’s continued warnings against it. She hits where it hurts, though, pointing out that Young-shin has a pretty good life, and can expect to meet a respectable young man with a stable career, who would give her every security in life. Jung-hoo, on the other hand, has never shown his face to her, can’t even tell her his name, and has nothing to offer but random talk about an island.
Jung-hoo feels those words, but counters, “Then… I can just show her. My face.”
Min-ja retorts that revealing himself to her makes Young-shin an accomplice to his accused crimes in the eyes of the law. And that makes Jung-hoo reconsider. Min-ja urges him to leave Young-shin alone, and he sighs that he should at least reply to her question.
All dolled up, Young-shin heads out for her date, pausing briefly to recall Detective Yoon’s warnings about Healer being dangerous. She shakes aside the thought, and spots the cops stationed outside to monitor her safety. Good thing for her, they’re not too attentive.
As she sneaks out, her voice narrates the rest of her email, which informs the Healer how the date ought go to. First, they’d start by walking together, just talking and laughing. She notes the happy couples doing just that as she walks on alone, arriving at the next date stop, a food stand. She eats alone while wistfully watching other couples doing as she describes, bickering about what to order.
Then, time for a movie. She goes to the cinema alone, saying that they don’t have to sit together, that it’s enough that they both see the same thing. She promises to wait for him there, and asks, “How long should I wait?”
She waits in the lobby for hours until she’s kicked out at closing time. She leaves the building in disappointment, shoulders slumping—until suddenly, the revolving doors start to spin, as though inviting her back inside.
She wanders into the lobby until she comes upon a hallway, and it’s lit with candles. Oh, Jung-hoo, you’re such a romantic it kind of hurts. Heart lifting, Young-shin follows the lit path through doors that open automatically for her.
Inside an empty theater, a spot has been prepared for her. She takes a seat just as something dings, and the stuffed rabbit on the table plays a recorded message (in ajumma’s voice, lol), asking what kind of movie she likes. She decides to go with whichever movie is longest—and then, the sound of footsteps makes her freeze. Omg omg. I can’t handle this. I need a higher-pitched word than squee.
Young-shin tenses in anticipation, and Jung-hoo takes a seat in the back row; his face is uncovered, but she doesn’t turn to look. Then the lights dim.
The movie plays (it’s Lee Seung-gi and Moon Chae-won’s Today’s Love), and Jung-hoo spends much of the time just watching Young-shin. By degrees they both settle in and start enjoying the movie, and then it ends.
The lights come back on. Young-shin gets up to find the theater empty, her mood now sinking with the return of reality. Jung-hoo watches from around the corner as she slowly heads for the exit, both of them feeling heavy-hearted.
And then, his hand shoots out and grabs her arm.
She stops there in the open doorway, and they stand there facing opposite directions while being inches apart. Appropriately, she’s in the light while he hangs back in the darkness.
His hand reaches down to hers, fingers intertwining, holding tight. The moment stretches out as they both drink it in, and you can read on their faces how momentous this contact is. Finally he has to let go, but it’s with a smile that she can walk on.
Outside, she finds a car waiting for her, its driver holding up a matching stuffed doll to signal that he’s Healer-sent. Jung-hoo watches her leave with those sad eyes.
Moon-shik receives an angry visit from Assemblyman Kim, who accuses Moon-shik of masterminding his downfall. We know that Kim dug his own grave, but he accuses Moon-shik of engineering this to usurp Kim’s position as future Seoul mayor.
Ever unflappable, Moon-shik has Kim escorted out. He receives the latest message from the Healer, who has agreed to discard that video (the one that involves the Elder, which he’d used to threaten him with) now that the Hwang case is no longer a threat. Moon-shik chuckles and decides, “I want to have the Healer.”
Secretary Oh points out that it’ll be difficult since they tried to pin him for murder and all, but Moon-shik tells him to proceed in their usual way—either bring the desired person onboard, or get rid of him.
Secretary Oh also worries about Myung-hee’s outing today, because she has gone to meet Joon-seok’s widow (Jung-hoo’s mother). Moon-shik acts like he’s calm about it, but for once he’s visibly upset.
Myung-hee meets Jung-hoo’s mother in a cafe, and the latter is too burdened with the past to even look her in the eye. Myung-hee assures her that she’s never believed Joon-seok was guilty, but Jung-hoo’s mother says that in the eyes of the world, her husband killed Myung-hee’s husband.
Myung-hee reaches for her hand, but she draws back. But Mom finally looks up at mention of the young man Myung-hee saw recently who reminded her of Joon-seok. Myung-hee says she knows why Mom left Jung-hoo—to protect him from the world’s censure, because staying would mean he’d be marked by his father’s stigma.
“I’ve lost a child too,” Myung-hee reminds her. “I wanted to meet you and hold hands. We used to be close.”
But Mom contradicts her. Yes, she didn’t want Jung-hoo hearing “murderer’s son” his whole life, but she had another reason. She’d done anything and everything trying to clear her husband’s name, until she was told to quit and remain quiet if she wanted to make sure Jung-hoo was safe.
Myung-hee sits up in alarm—who said that? Mom looks at her in genuine surprise. “You live with him,” she says. “I thought you had to know.” Ooh. That’s got to put a crack in that trust.
Young-shin practically dances into the office the next morning, feeling great. But “everyone” is gone, and she asks where “they all” went, though by “everyone” she really means Bong-soo, who is out on the boss’s secret orders. She sputters in indignation, wondering why those two are suddenly so tight: “Why are they so friendly? Why?!”
She marches up to Moon-ho’s window, and he smiles widely at her while closing the blinds shut in her face. HAHA.
It’s because he’s on the phone with Jung-hoo, informing him about the police records pertaining to his father. Jung-hoo’s on his way to the station now, and Moon-ho suggests that he wait until nighttime. But that means increased security, so Jung-hoo takes a different approach, dressing as a salaryman while Min-ja works her hacker mojo.
Jung-hoo enters a restaurant frequented by office employees at lunch, and scopes out the faces until he finds a target. He strategically trips near him, dropping food down the man’s front, and then smoothly swipes the man’s ID badge when he washes up in the bathroom. That allows him to pass through security, his head bowed to avoid the cameras.
Once inside, he accidentally-on-purpose drops some files being transported by a file clerk, and helps him pick them up. Striking up friendly conversation as they walk to the records room, Jung-hoo is allowed easy entry, and from there he tracks down the appropriate section.
He finds his father’s filebox… which is empty, all its pages replaced by blank sheets. Moon-ho isn’t surprised but is still dismayed, and while he has a few guesses as to who’s responsible, he’s not certain.
Jung-hoo merely replies that they’ll have to find out, then. Connecting next with Min-ja, he informs her of his plan: Direct family members are allowed access to those reports. Min-ja balks: “Are you crazy? Yes, you’re crazy.”
Crazy or not, Jung-hoo presents his ID card with the request form at the front desk. This time he’s dressed as something of a slacker/party boy, looking empty-headed and chewing gum carelessly.
The clerk inputs the request, which pulls up a warning that the file is restricted. Furthermore, this pings an alert to Moon-shik, informing him that somebody is requesting access to the file. It’s the son.
Moon-shik delegates the matter to someone else, since he has another destination today. He arrives at the Someday office just as Young-shin is leaving, and calls her by name, introducing himself. She’s happy to shake the hand of the important media mogul.
Looking utterly unconcerned, Jung-hoo waits at the station, where he’s detained by officers. He maintains a cheerfully blank facade as he’s led into an interrogation room, looking around idly and waiting to see how he’s treated.
COMMENTS
So many great moments in this episode. I was dying to see how Moon-ho would use his information, and I wasn’t disappointed—either in his character, or in the way this spins our story into the next direction.
I found Moon-ho’s reaction to finding Jung-hoo really moving, because it felt so inviting and genuine. I haven’t always been certain of Moon-ho’s motivations (there’s such a complex web of emotions driving him that it seems simplistic to chalk it up to one word, like guilt or redemption), but he was so sincerely relieved to see Jung-hoo here in front of him—and then, there was that extra punch when he realized that Jung-hoo wasn’t living a happy life abroad as his mother said, but was actually quite lonely and neglected. So here he is, happy to see him yet confronted with another life whose sadness he’s responsible for, however indirectly. It’s pretty heavy, and a fortunate thing that Yoo Ji-tae is so wonderful with gravitas.
I really felt for Moon-ho’s reaction to Jung-hoo at the junkyard, where Jung-hoo was snappish and defensive, trying to act like he didn’t care while obviously caring deeply. Moon-ho felt like a parent with an errant teenager in that moment, where even as Jung-hoo was lashing out at him, he regarded him with gentleness and acceptance. Anything Jung-hoo might say, Moon-ho was going to take, with no retorts or counterattacks. It may be the closest example of unconditional love Jung-hoo has been shown in ages (or ever), and I freaking love that it comes from Moon-ho.
On the flipside of that is Jung-hoo’s reaction, all full of bravado and false fronts. He puts up that act like he is just sooooo bored by Moon-ho and his feelings, but it’s almost frightening how transparent that facade is, ready to shatter under the weight of too much scrutiny. He has every reason to be wary of Moon-ho, but his sense of longing is palpable, and I wonder if perhaps he’s afraid of his own desire to trust in him.
Goodness knows there’s a long way both men have to travel for that trust to build, but I so want to see it happen. Because how hilarious is it to watch Healer and Moon-ho being buddy-buddy at Someday News all of a sudden? Sure it’s just an act for the outside world, but it’s so entertaining. And as great is it is to watch Young-shin and Bong-soo together, or to watch Bong-soo being jealous when she’s off with Moon-ho, it’s even more awesome to see her disgruntlement when she’s the odd one out and now the boys are suddenly as thick as thieves. It’s unclear whether her complaint is more because of Bong-soo or Moon-ho, and that makes it hilarious.
It may be premature to say she’s jealous of Bong-soo being closer to somebody else other than herself, but I would dearly love to see her unconsciously missing him, and taking a while to realize why. I love how Bong-soo’s reaction is the completely normal thing for a guy who’s been rejected, and yet in this case we know it’s completely faked, and that her angst is unwarranted. But it’s also satisfying, in true Healer fashion, since it’s so much fun to watch the scenario play out the obvious way while knowing that there’s another layer going on. So she can stew for a little while, and I can enjoy seeing her pout that Bong-soo’s no longer hanging on her every word.
Not that the girl has anything to complain about, not after her Healer date. I loved everything about this date, from the way she made the first move (particularly after he tried but failed to think of a way to keep in touch) to the way he executed the details. There are certainly things that Korean dramas may not pull off well, but one thing that really works for me is in the instances of repressed emotion that become somehow much more powerful than the grand declarations or gestures.
The scene is utterly simple, with no words exchanged and little physical movement—but we feel every beat and understand the feelings from moment to moment. The hand-hold is one thing, but even better for me was the expressions on their faces in the moment, not despite their distance but because of it. They’re looking in opposite directions, facing away, separated by the doorway, but it’s like they’re feeling every aspect of their closeness in a palpable way. I love the small touches that carry meaning, such as Young-shin being literally awash in light while Jung-hoo’s shrouded in shadows, her dressed in white, him in black. They have one point of connection—literally, and symbolically—but it’s an intense one nonetheless. For now, it’s enough for them, as Young-shin noted in her email… although okay, fine, I’ll always want more. Gah, now I’m getting greedy because I just keep wanting more. At least I know better than to be ungrateful. Thank you, Healer-ya! Also, please give me more of all the things!

Yes @Omomo, definitely not normal, just like what's happening to most of the beanies here :D
But it's fine, we hardly ever get a drama as good as this, and who knows when we will ever be blessed with another one again?
By the way, i rarely ever comment on recaps but the squeeing here is contagious, so... i'm with ya. Nice to meet ya, @Omomo, lovely headers btw :)

Indeed. Although right now, there is nothing else in my field of vision when it comes to K-dramas except for Healer. It's really, really hard for me to watch anything else. My mind automatically rejects it and keeps coming to this show. *grumbles*
Here's to hoping that JCW's next project will be on par or even surpass this (a pretty difficult feat)!
Pleasure meeting you too! Thank you very kindly! Happy that you like 'em. :D

For those who have not heard the daebak news - we’ve broken the record of most number of comments long held by K2Hearts, and continued to explode through the roof. We have now breached the 3500 mark.
To all of us - CHUKA-HEHYO!!!
Now, we are faced with the hard task of breaking our own record hehe.

We may be addicted, and without sleep, have eye bags that raccoons would be jealous of, have completely disregarded real life as it is, and....wait, where was I going with this?
Oh yeah, but we're all quite happy! I think many of us haven't had a crack drama in awhile. I personally haven't in a very long time, and feeling such a connection to a drama, even though it's taking over my life, feels great. The excitement, the fangirling with great company, the excitement and happiness we feel when we watch our beloved show. I wouldn't trade that for a normal life. As a beanie once said on the previous thread, sanity's overrated anyways! :)

Sub-thread: LETTER(S) : Letter to ALL Beanies who pass this way ...
We write with BIG THANKS to Javabeans and Girlfriday for this blog and for giving us this space in which to communicate and to become community. *Warm Hugs to JB and GF*
This letter INVITATION is OPEN to ALL :)
Hey folks! We've been having a wild, wonderful ride since Episode 8, with our comments growing from mere 100s to 1000s and hitting an all time high of 3,500++ so far in Ep 10. It's been effing fabulous and also super scary because with the wildfire way this thread has grown, it's been hard to know if our comments are being found/read by like-minded Beanies or how to find our way back to a sub-thread of interest after being away for a mere few hours.
This humble suggestion (and invitation to join in) is being mooted and executed in this Ep 11 Thread: Those of us who'd like to, can Name (give a topical name) some sub-threads that we start so that those who wish to comment on the same topics can keep returning to our sub-threads. How does that sound?
This does not mean we'll become uber neat but maybe neater than how it is usually. Also, if some sub-threads get too unwieldy, (and some will) they may instead become places from which other sub-threads are referenced.
Advantages: 1) Reduce the amount of trawling required to find stuff and people
2) Can gather together discussions on similar topics for more indepth analyses.
3) Can gather responses for polls and projects.
4) Will be more likley that comments meant for certain persons will be noticed by the right persons.
5) Compiles fun things to share which otherwise get lost (May include Reposts from other threads)
A few Named sub-threads have been started below. You are free to use them for the relevant topics, to comments within them if you wish or you may ignore them and of course continue to post elsewhere anything you like as per normal without naming your comments. You may start your own Named sub-threads as well, but please just check around a bit to see if anyone has started a similar one so that there will be less duplication. (we expect that duplication cannot be totally avoided so no stress!!!)
If this way of bringing topics together is an improvement, we will continue in other Recaps. If some topics are always relevant, they can/will re-appear to be continued in other recaps (with a reference to their original sub-thread number here) and if some topics are not relevant they will be laid to rest.
That's it for this letter, (for now). Shall we see if this makes navigating our labyrinth of discussions a little less labor intensive? Your ideas and questions as always, are welcome. Comment away!!!

@GB I think for the next recap you need to start a sub thread just for what people think will happen in Ep 13, given that once again there is NO preview!! This is totally killing me and I can't wait to discuss it with everyone when the recaps are up!

Hello GB~
I find it funny and interesting that you called me a celebrity last week, when tbh, I think YOU are the celebrity :-) Look at you go, creating sub-threads, counting on the hours till the next drama, rallying beanies, etc... I see you everywhere (which is not a bad thing).
And I see people calling you GB *Smiles* Can I take credit for that? Since I was the 1st one who asked you if I could call you that (in LG recaps), and the one who started that trend :-) I have some questions for you, but I have to go for now... I will try and be back later :-)

Sub-thread: DROOL POOL of HRUSG - managed by Skyofblue and polaris or either or (Thanks, my dears)
This sub-thread is on the Healer Ruined Us Support Group (HRUSG) and whether you'd like to consider yourself a part of it or not.
This is a partial edited repost from Ep 10 (227.1.1.1.2) and Ep 9 (169)
Notice of the HRUSG: If you are considering whether to join this group, ie wondering if you are sick enough to need support, please check against these symptoms:
– Can’t stop thinking of Healer or of accessing any/all sites to do with show and JCW, including looking at pictures of JCW clothed or otherwise.
– Prefer to re-watch anything Healer or JCW instead of moving on to a new show
– Been taking time out of RL to live vicariously and virtually. Worse yet, forgot to do the normal RL stuff (like eat, sleep, study, work and bring kids to wherever) because of being holed up with the computer.
- Believe yourself crazy
If you display even one of these symptoms you will be diagnosed with loony-bin lunacy-cum-Healer/JCW addiction of the highest severity. Oh, did we mention that insanity is mandatory?
Anyway, you will have qualified for the honor of being shod in Healer boots and thrown feet first into our Drool Pool No. 3. Of course you can choose to be catapulted from our spring release chair in which case, you will land on your butt. We have no waterproof butt protector, but our raincoat might help marginally.
Our fellow Support Group members will then gleefully drag you through Pools 1 and 2 which smell terrible, but that’s the price of initiation.
After initiation your mission is to keep looking at pictures of JCW and watching Healer and commenting here at a rate of 20 posts a day plus to add more drool to our pool (as it is drying up).
So now, having considered your mental and physical condition and the terms of membership, we trust that you are able to make a well-informed decision. Membership is free except for your contribution of drool. If interested, kindly sign up under this Drool Pool sub-thread and prepare yourself for imbecility of the highest order. - Management -
------
------
Want to sign up? Come on in… enter our world of delirious, diverting fangirling and high flown flaky fun…..
You’ve just got to sign here, you know, where you agree to give up normal life as you know it, drool on our mark (don’t worry we help you out with a PPT presentation of JCW photos) and slosh in the drool pool with us. :D

Unfortunately there is no search engine within comments so we cannot 'retrieve' but since we start with whole numbers, each sub-thread will have a name starting with a number. The ones I create are on Page 1 for now. So just take note of the numbers to locate them again.

You could use the ctrl+f command to find something specifically on the page. For example, you could search for "sub-thread" throughout the page. Unfortunately, it doesn't search the entire comments page but it is easier than constantly scrolling up and down the page.

On the topic of survival:
We have and will continue to manage to survive together on this thread. We will spazz until we fizzle out *snore*, we will support and agree that all the outrageous things we do (and the normal RL things that we fail to do) in honour of our show, our Man and our addiction is just *perfectly* normal in our DB-verse and at regular intervals, we will drag each other through the drool pool to shake ourselves out of our lethargy and start commenting again!!!!!
But most of all we survive by keeping our belly muscles tightly toned by frequent squeeing, screaming, laughing, shrieking and convulsive giggling…. stopping only when the pain is unbearable or our neighbours complain about the noise of someone being murdered.
On the topic of us being on FIRE :
Yeah me lovelies….

I had to patiently wait for a long time.......I am so addicted that I immediately watch Raw EPs and then wait until 11 pm (central time in the United States) to read these recaps of the episode so I could unsolder stand the ep I just watched? *rolls up sleeves*
We have the drool pools ready. Now they just need to decide which depth they are comfortable with, since we have different depths with each pool.
Pool 1- Not very deep, for those who are just beginning in their Healer/JCW journey
Pool 2- Medium depth, for those who are starting to wonder if they’re crazy as they watch everything JCW is on and rewatch Healer until the next ep. Your toes should still touch the floor in this pool
Pool 3- Addicted. Completely. Totally. For those who can’t remember the last time they had a sound sleep, and are currently zombies. Drool will go over your head in this one.
Pool 4- This is for those who don’t know what life is without Healer, think of it and/or JCW every minute of the day, and don’t remember what normal life even is anymore. The depth of this pool is still undeclared, as its mysteries are even more than the deepest parts of the ocean. The end of this pool is no where in sight. Life jackets recommended.
Step right this way and let us know which pool is right for you!

In. So. In.
I actually read the recaps first then because it sounds interesting downloaded episodes 1 to 10 and watched everything in two whole days. And as I waited for ep 11 to have a link, I've scoured tumblr, twitter and youtube for everything Healer from interviews to mv.
And I have also introduced it to several people and am seriously tempted to create a fandom manifesto and essays on the characters, OTP, and relationships.
Just when I thought I was done with Kdramas, Healer drag me in again.

I'm still a bit confused though. I mean, I understand Jung Hoo's attraction to Young Shin.
But Young Shin's to Healer (not Jung Hoo/Bong Soo) I don't really get?
I mean, all she knows about Healer is that he's paid to save her, his reputation and--pretty much just that. They've never talked but for his cryptic warnings and her own preconceptions about him. So I'm kind of lost.
I SHIP IT. But because of Jung hoo's feelings for Young Shin, and for how cutely indulgent Young Shin is when it comes to Bong Soo. But on Young Shin's part I don't get it.
Especially in this episode where Detective Yoon is telling her about Healer being a murder suspect and what moon ho said that he was paying Healer to guard her, I don't get how she could stand firm on her thoughts that Healer is a good person.
Sure she was embarrassed and angry before but she return to her belief after one kiss? And sure the date was cute and adorable, but her feelings leading up to this, I don't get it.
can someone explain it to me?
aoiaheen
January 13, 2015 at 6:47 AM
@Julia, I think YS had an admiration for the healer when (as a reporter) she heard about his ethics in that murky line of business even though he is the best at his work. Then when she dug a little deeper she found that he is always alone and can't show his face to anyone. Because of her past trauma she identified deeply with this. (She mentions this to BS during two of their conversations). This is how her admiration developed.
Then she meets him when he steals her bag. When she complains he's hurting her, he releases her arms a bit. And when she fears he's going to use the blade on her, he instead uses the nail cutter. So this becomes a kind of confirmation of his good nature.
Then of course he saves her from the goons. So even if she doesn't see him, she know him inside out. That's why she loves him. Her love is actually gradual and realistic given her past trauma.

@ Julia
In response to 4.2.1.2.2 and in addition to aoiaheen's post, consider this:
Healer could have DIED.
The kiss you referred to was preceded by the elevator rescue scene. That rescue was a very deliberate action, not an instinctive automatic reaction, on Healer's part. The elevator car had already dropped a couple of times before Healer jumped into the car and managed to get both of them out in the very nick of time. Healer didn't HAVE to rescue her. He wasn't in the elevator with YS when it started stalled. He chose to put himself in a dangerous situation in order to save her. It was an action beyond any monetary consideration, for no matter how much he's being paid, it'll be useless if he's not around to collect, much less spend that money.
Consider also the kiss. How it happened. He had backed away when YS tried to touch him before walking off, only to come back to her, rolled up her beanie and paused. He paused before lowering his lips on hers. It was the gentlest, tenderest, of kisses. That kiss confirmed to her that his rescue of her was not because of money, but because of her. Her person.
Consider then his past interactions with her. In clipping her nails, he was gentle. Whispering to her that she now doesn't have to fear, before leaving her. He covered her head to keep out the violence from her, when fighting the SS goons, gently back-hugged her to keep secret his identity. Clasping her hand over the pills, he helped with her anxiety medication. He made her a gift of Trash Hwang's hard drive when she desperately needed it to backup her report, and help Yoon Hee, whispering his caution not to be trusting of those around her. All these are actions beyond his assigned task of protecting her. Always gently.
By reputation YS knows that Healer doesn't kill. From personal experience, she knows that despite his physical prowess, there is a gentle side to Healer that is always considerate of and for, her.
With all her very personal experience of him, is it any wonder that YS would ignore the warnings of a near stranger police officer and fall for Healer? Not to me.
That's my take. Hope I've helped. :-)

January 13, 2015 at 6:47 PM
@JULIA Actually even though I'm so into the show as well, the reason why I have 1 micrometer of hair not happy witht he show is exactly what JULIA said, CYS really doesnt know much about him AT ALL. She's in love with her ideal, but will a real girl allow a guy who she knows nothing about kiss her while having her head covered? would she really go on a date with him, when she doesn't know who he is? Sure, he saved her life, but he did that for money. If he does something as reckless as jumping into an elevator for money why wouldn't he kill? While I hate hate hate the detective, in the real world his way of thinking makes complete logical sense.
I'm still in pool 4. What? Who said I was in this show for realism? I'm in for the feels. and boy, does it give me feels LOL

healer has ruined me. I watched the episode raw on one device and read java beans recap on another. I can usually wait for the recaps...but not with this show. I'm hopelessly addicted. I haven't seen a hand holding scene that intense since Michelle Pfeiffer and Daniel Day Lewis in "Age of Innocence" (I know that really dates me). Loving every freaking minute of this show, every glance, every shot, every song, every minute. I am holding my breath and praying to the drama gods that this show doesn't implode. I'm actually feeling hopeful that they might be able to sustain the awesomeness

After reading so many comments I was able to conclude that Healer/JCW is really bad for our health. Here are the effects :
1. Insomnia ( watching the episodes over and over again )
2. Diabetes ( too much sweetness of PBS/Healer and CYS)
3. Hyperventilation ( too much excitement )

To: Not Yet Aware of your Condition
For your reference:
We’re all aware now that there is a spreading disease, as GB specifically enumerate the symptoms, and Kay happily and giddily declared of no possible cure.
Xavienne already found out the effects, if I may re-enumerate (with your permission, of course):
1. Insomnia ( watching the episodes over and over again )
2. Diabetes ( too much sweetness of PBS/Healer and CYS)
3. Hyperventilation ( too much excitement )
4. Dehydration ( too much drooling over JCW)
Now, the only thing left is to name this disease. We can’t consider this a virus since, it’s not communicable unless you want to. But once you get in-touch with the people with this disease, especially the severe ones, you have no point of return.
From now on, this non-communicable-but-self-induced-incurable disease will be known as:
HEALERIA SEPSIS a.k.a. JCW Toxemia
For more info on how to get a shot and/or get support, feel free to browse or contact our head Doc, Growingbeautifully and her group of drool professionals.

I feel so crazy right now, I stayed up late last night trying to understand the episode and ended up watching it thrice. And woke up early to watch once again and once more now that the subs are out. And here I am laughing at your comments when I should be taking a bath and having breakfast like normal people. I'm glad no one's there to see me like this ?? I think my family members would disown Me and take me to a mental asylum right away because of this crazy obsession.

Darling, we feel you.
When I woke up this morning, I immediately search out for download links, and while waiting for it to download, I rewatched the previous episodes. And watched it without subtitles.
Squealed when I saw the dramabeans recap and watched the episode again as I read the recap so I can understand what's going on.
Then I continued to refresh subtitle links until I found one and then rewatched it again.

If I had less willpower, I would have trashed my office PC reading KMS's order to Secretary Oh about Healer. What? You want Healer and if you can't, you want to get rid of him?!!!!! No one is getting rid of my Healer!
*bash KMS over the head with an evil laugh*
But seriously, how sick is this guy if this is his blatant order? You own people like objects and if they don't conform to your ideas of a sycophantic follower or paralyzed patient like Myung Hee, you get rid of them? I utterly detest such misguided minds. Even if KMS is giving such an order and later on, instead of snuffing SJH, force him to hide again in order to "keep him safe", I'll say his at least a coward. I was thisclose to give the character the benefit of the doubt of being tortured in trying to save his loved ones but hearing that order, he just lost it.
Can't wait to see MH confront his brother as he prepares for his Seoul's mayor candidacy. I expect it the scene to be epic. Just don't injure another thumb, YJT-oppa.

@autleaf it's one of the reasons why I think Moon Shik is also a really good layered character (not just a Terrible Evil) - it's sort of implied that he was forced into this because his loved ones were threatened (but could also be that he would have access to love if he followed the Elder's advice) - he clearly knows the kind of evil that he's doing and he's absolutely ruthless about it, but when you see him panic for his brother in front of the Elder and you get the sense that he's desperately trying to protect MH (and possibly even JH and Ji-an by not bringing them to the Elder's attention) you sort of feel like you could understand him. Not like him, mind you, but you get where he's coming from - or I do, at least.

"What? You want Healer and if you can’t, you want to get rid of him?!!!!!"
Yep, that's the way these guys roll. I did a post about that towards the top of the thread for Episode 10.
It seems possible that he could be thinking: keep your friends close and your enemies closer. And that the safest place to be is right next to the enemy. But the question always becomes, once you've put yourself on that slippery slope, to keep up the ruse, how much do you become like your enemy?
Right now I can't buy-off on the idea that he wants to protect Healer. In my mind, Healer is a threat that he wants to own. Healer has the ability to put together the pieces to the puzzle that his mom gathered before she was warned-off by MS. Plus, it's really high stakes to tell Secretary Oh-who-will-I-kill-next that he's either to figure out a way to own Healer or to kill him. The Secretary takes the killing part seriously.
(Now that I think about it, in one of the early episodes there was a scene showing JH's mom going through a box to look for old photos. Didn't they show that she had document envelopes in there? At the time it struck me as odd that they put this detail in the story; and wondered why the writer would (...it seemed to me...) hang a lantern on that box. Might she have the original police reports of her husband's interrogation testimony?)
And on that note, I was surprised how lame MH's 'research' skills are. His entire work product consisted of his old notebook and a few news clippings. He's been painted as a top investigative reporter, and that's all he had... seriously?!!!

So...not like I like Moon Ho or anything...but to be fair, I think he did say he tried to get hold of evidence but he was being stonewalled everywhere. I mean, even when JH tried to infiltrate the building where the records were supposedly stored (which I was like...howwww is it he managed to enter the building so easily??) he couldn't get a copy of anything. All the original documents have probably been gotten rid of, and if you weren't there when it happened and gotten a copy of it...thennnn...it might have been hard for Moon Ho. Plus, when it all went down, he was also still a kid no? His investigative skills (and reporting dreams) were probably kickstarted because of what happened in 92 and what he saw happen to the 5 friends.

BUT THAT PREVIEWWWWWW. Ep 11 had me hyperventilating (so perfect that date! so awsome, that motivation for why JH wants to dig deep and uncover the truth about his dad NOW! so wonderful, that CYS suddenly may realise how she sorta feels about Bong Soo! so heartwrenching, that moment when MH realises the truth about Healer, and then spends the whole episode trying to get close to him BUT IS ALSO LYING BY OMISSION BY NOT MENTIONING JI-AN) and I feel like Ep 12 will bring more of the same. I'm also afraid they might pull an Ep 10 and LEAVE US WITHOUT A PREVIEW FOR 13, in which case all sorts of weird and crazy conjectures will surely come to pass (look at the crazy threads for Ep 10).

Because he is also (not-so-secretly?) Healer in real life and possesses superhuman energy which he subsists on instead of sleep like normal human beings?
It is starting to show though - you can sort of see the tiredness coming through, even though he is totally acting the character. I guess it helps that we all have massive sympathy for Healer whom we think SHOULD be sleep deprived anyway cos he's leading a crazy double life? So it doesn't seem out of character for JCW to look tired (his complexion is so pale, I just want to shove lots of ginseng drinks at him and be all like, PLEASE DRINK).

If I wasn't impressed already with how Ji Chang-wook is doing such an amazing job as the Healer...but he's also doing a musical concurrently?!?! WOW. In this day and age with the live shoots...that is superhuman blood running through his veins!! :P
I'm not sure if the yawning in the theater was intentional (well, he is Bong-soo by day and Healer by night)...but he has been looking a bit exhausted. Normally, I'd say cut down on the live shoots and get him some rest...but, considering how this drama has caused mass hysteria with its weekly 2 shows already -- someone get him some energy tonics to let him know thankful us Beanies are!! :)
rainerust
January 13, 2015 at 1:00 AM
@polaris...now why did I not even consider the idea of him being too tired to drink it and therefore needing our help to feed it to him personally? ;) I like how your mind works LOL
@ Trixie and Tara yeah I'm pretty amazed he's doing his musical (Trixie, he's starring in a musical called The Days) WHILE filming this. Considering how intense all the scenes are..and how they are doing live-shoot...it must be all sorts of crazy. I don't even know how he would remember his lines and lyrics and not confuse them with his Healer script!

Sorry I may not have been very clear, but I meant he knew about how ll their backgrounds linked...and yet he didn't tell JH about Ji-an being actually CYS, and also Gil-han's daughter. Then again, if he had, it might have turned Healer into a blubbering mess, which would have sucked. Plus, he might not be sure what to do bout Ji-an and he probably wanted Healer to focus on digging deep and uncovering the truth about everything, no? It also makes sense from a narrative standpoint cos it seriously drives the stakes of the truth being uncovered even higher (argh the angst the angst!!) - and the truth in its many layers; the truth of how the three of them are related and what CYS means to JH really, the truth of what happened in 92 to have driven the friendships that were built apart, the truth of what Moon Shik and Elder are doing, etc... I really love how nuanced this drama is, and how much there is to unpeel whenever one reflects on the drama.
Gidget
January 13, 2015 at 9:55 AM
Ah, I see. Thanks!
That's what I love about the drama too. The writer has been so thoughtful about weaving a multitude of little narrative threads throughout the drama.
As art, this work has struck me as being so similar to a tapestry. Fine yarns with nuanced shading emerging, disappearing, and re-emerging to create a richly detailed picture. It's a treat because other dramas are usually so simplistic. If Healer's a tapestry, other dramas are quilt art. Still nice to look at, but an entirely different kind of artisanship.

About dramabay, it is quick but very bad for your computer. Some of these websites are not very clean and can inflict harm(virus) to your device.
MyAsiantv is just as quick but is less harmful. Whoever can access Viki, it's best to go there directly, they're the ones subbing the videos anyway. Youtube is very fast as well, and it's accessible worldwide.

On us breaking the K2H record (2362 comments). Yes if we've been keeping track we have reached an all time high in number of comments on DB with currently 3599 comments for Ep 10 and still growing.
As we have only 24 hours before the next recap comes out, some of us were thinking that we could just aim to break the 1052 record (for Ep 8) or to reach 2,000 comments for odd numbered episodes. We want to reach the 2,000 figure at least twice to beatk K2H fully LOL!
After Ep 12 is aired and recapped, then we will have another long haul of 6 days before another recap, therefore we can aim to break our own record for even numbered episodes.
Are you game to try? All in agreement say 'Ay!'. :)

That ending, nail-biting for me! Now I understand the definition of that word. I would also like to know how some writers manage to write dramas and scripts that keep reeling you in. So far, so good! I am still keeping my fingers crossed that the drama will be good, until the very last sec. of the last ep. I am really in love with JCW in this drama, and by in love, I mean in love with his acting, LOL. I will let Omomo, GB and the other beanies have him (too much competition).
There are so many things I loved in this ep. The date, the way that Healer cannot stay away from CYS, the fact that he stumbled again, while reading her mail (he is so affected by her), the hand lock (that scene was so intimate, loved it), the look on Healer’s face, as he was hiding his face from CYS, and yet how he came out of the shadows, as she was leaving. I thought he might call her, so she can see his face. I feel for Healer, and how he feels stuck, or very limited, in how to progress things with CYS, and finally have a life, in general. CYS is so loyal, and true to her word. I love that about her, that she kept her word to him. I also love that Ahjumma got in on the preparations for the date, even though she didn’t want Healer to do it. That is what a good mom or sister (or friend) would do. And she made sure that CYS would be taken home safely.
So, no bromance yet between Healer and KMH, though I am hoping for some bromance down the road. And I guess, Healer still wants to go to his island. Would CYS be OK leaving her dad, and her uncles, and her job as a reporter, etc… to just go leave alone on an island? Hum… Healer does not seem to think about that aspect of things. I also find it quite telling, that Ahjumma doesn’t trust KMH. She seems to be good at reading people. I think she was right, about KMH being able to lie well, and present a lie as the truth. He was so quick and so smooth, when he told Healer that CYS was dead (WOW! I would’ve believed KMH too, if I didn’t know that CYS was OJA).
I appreciate what the writer is doing with what happened in the past (that era, and its social and political contexts), as I am actually very drawn into that part of the drama. And she is doing such a good job doling just enough info per ep. to keep us interested, and yet wanting to know more. I felt sad for MH noona, when she reached out to SJH’s mom, and the mom was so embarrassed that all she could think of, was to reject MH noona. I hope that they will be able to patch things up later. I was also glad to find out that SJH’s mom actually tried to clear her husband’s name, until KMS asked her to stop. This drama is so very good, I wish we could let writer-nim, the cast and crew (and the producers), know how much we appreciate their hard work (before the drama is over). That would be so encouraging for them. Maybe something like an international fan MV?

Hello Gidget, *Waves!!!!*
Thank you so much for stopping by, and saying "Hello!" You know what? You just made my day, literally!!!! :-) This, I simply LOVED, "Good to see you, Ivoire. Was starting to get a bit worried…" I can't believe you were starting to get worried, because you didn't see me. Awwww, that does my heart good, thank you! How are you? Well, I hope?...
About this, "So much to seriously say about your comment, but for now this will have to do." Really? Oh good then! I am glad I gave you food for thought. Please come back when you can, and comment away.
About the "island" thing: you know, I thought Healer/JH had given up on living on that island, and that he would have wanted to live with CYS in Seoul. I guess I was wrong? Why still go to an island? Really, how pragmatic would that be? If and when she gets pregnant (with their babies), where would she give birth? They would have to go to a town or a city, right? And he has seen how close CYS is to her dad, and her community (ajussis, her co-workers, etc...) Does he not think she will miss them? She is not like him, I think she needs people around her, to interact with, and sometimes to take care of (she strikes me as that kind of person). I can't see her NOT seeing her dad, or the ajussis, for a long period of time.
Besides, now Healer is working on clearing his dad's name, and uncovering many truths. When that is over (and hopefully it will end successfully), why would he want to leave? He doesn't want to know how ajumma is doing? She is closer to him than his mom (she knows him better). I won't bring up Teacher, b/c he let Healer down a few times. I think Healer should change his mind about the whole island thing.
Hahahaha, I love your last paragraph, and yes!!!! It would be wonderful, if you could have Healer at your place. I would SO LOVE to meet him, and feed him. He needs to eat, he is losing his cheeks (his face looks sunken in). And I would love to be a part of the international community that is helping Healer hide, and protects him. He is so adorable, and yet so smart as well. He brings my noona feelings out (I am a little old to date him :-) ), and I would love to get to know him, pick his brain, if you will :-) I could see myself hanging out with him (and the rest of the community), and talking to him for a long time (like all night long. I am a talker, and I love to write, that is part of how I bond :-) )
It seems no one has mentioned this, but have you noticed the bromance between KMH and his hoobae (Jong Soo, I think is his name?) I have rewatched a few epis. of healer, and in the ep. JS goes to SDN (SomeDay News), he is super happy to see his sunbae (KMH), and at one point, he leans his head on KMH and says, "I have missed you." I LOVED that scene, and when he told the truth to KMH about his presence at SDN, I felt validated that there was bromance between the two. I really love JS in this drama, and I find him cute.

Also Gidget,
My apologies for not commenting last week, in either recaps. I did say in ep.9 that I would be back to comment more, but that didn't happen. And I meant to respond to comments in ep.10, however life got the best of me. There was so much I wanted to say though :-(
This week might be my last week commenting on DB, and watching the drama (for now). I have some life changing decisions I might have to make and I feel that it would be good for me to walk away from the drama, and come back to it later, though I am not exactly sure when that will be. If I end up doing that, I would love to stay in touch with you, if you don't mind, and if you are interested. If so, my email is [email protected]
I really love the way you write, and the way you express yourself. You are very eloquent, I really like how you look at things, and the perspectives you share with us. It would be nice to (maybe) be able to discuss the drama some more, when I come back to it (again, if you are interested). There was also something you told in ep. 7 or 8 recap, that I would like to comment on. I will be back later, to comment on it. (I will really be back). Thank you once again, for looking for me, and for taking the time to read my comments.
I just thought of this: I think that MH noona might have a big role to play at some point. So far, she has been somewhat important (but not very), however, with what JH's mom told her about KMS, I feel that there will be some repercussions to that revelation. It kind of feels like she might have some of the pieces of the puzzle, and it would be interesting to see how Writer SJN uses her character to reveal certain things, and change some things around (the dynamics of things). It will also be interesting to me to see if I was right or not. Just my 2 cents.
I also LOVE the OST of this drama, don't you? It is so well played throughout the scenes. I am hoping that all the instrumental pieces we hear in the drama will be in the OST CD, b/c that is not always the case, unfortunately. Let's hope.

To come under COMPILATIONS OF THE CRAZY
Partial and Edited Reposts from Ep 10 (227.1.1.1.5) with credits to koreandramalover/kay and (293) with credits to polaris and (293.3)
Doctor in Healer-land speaks on our sad state:
In my professional opinion, I am afraid … you folks here who profess to be in the clutches of what could only be called completely-heads-over-heels-heels-over-heads-slipping-on-unstoppable-drool-and-unscrapable-melting-IN-LOVE-with-JCW-aka-Healer-SO-SUE-US syndrome, are…beyond any professional help… or at least any help that I KNOW OF. ;)
-----
We’re all aware now that there is a spreading disease (which is non-communicable) , with the following effects/symptoms and no possible cure.
1. Insomnia ( watching episodes over and over again )
2. Diabetes ( too much sweetness of PBS/Healer and CYS)
3. Hyperventilation (too much excitement )
4. Dehydration (too much drooling over JCW)
Now, the only thing left is to name this disease. From now on, this non-communicable-but-self-induced-incurable disease will be known as: HEALERIA SEPSIS a.k.a. JCW Toxemia
For more info on how to get a shot and/or get support, feel free to browse or contact our head Doc, Growingbeautifully and her group of drool professionals.
Happy healing!
-----
Thank you kindly polaris for the upgrade from kooky-weird commenter to Head Doc. Hmmm, I am not sure I have my qualifications in order…
Let’s see:
Certificate of Attendance at Pointy Hat School of Imbecility – check
Diploma of Toxificologie (aka how to toxify) – check
Bachelor of Healerisation from DB University – check
Certificate of Sheer Madness – check
Yup, all ready to wield the hack saw … oh sorry … I meant syringe … or perhaps you prefer to drink the Elixir, Antidote for Anti-Beguilement?
Which means the cure will make you more incurable! MuahahahaH!!!
-----
Repost from Ep 10 (276.3.3.1)
Aah … but the question is, do we want the cure?
In our right minds, we should say yes. However because we are all in our left minds …
or in the minds we left behind ….
or in the wrong minds which can’t make a right …
There is NO HOPE for us *now*!!! *insane laughter*

@ GB,
You guys are seriously hilarious! GB, I didn't know you to be so funny. I can only imagine what would happen if we could all meet, or if many of us could actually meet, and hang out. I really wish the drama, its actors and actresses, and JCW knew HOW MUCH they are LOVED right now, in the international community. That should give them as much a boost as many ginseng drinks.

I stayed home without going into lecture until 2 today hoping dramafever will put up Healer with eng subs. no luck. With my mind and heart heavy knowing many around the world are watching Healer and I am sitting here on the bus without knowing what happened in today's episode. I come home hoping to see my episode up just to see it saying that it only updates healer every Tuesday and Wednesday and Viki does not even put it up till 2 weeks after the show airs.
SO BASICALLY I HAVE NO DRUG TO CONTROL FOR MY HYPERVENTILLATION CAUSED BY HEALERIA SEPSIS. I AM DYING SALLYOJUSAYO!!!!!!!!
No really, I really need help. I have no idea how many times I have watched the head nods when Bong Soo confesses and the Thirsty song in episode 2. I have lost count. I have shown my mom and sisters that scene.

If you are OK with reduced quality, subs are available at myasiantv and also dramabay (usually dramabay releases earlier in the day than myasiantv but only because they even release if subs are about 96 percent completed....myasiantv is also missing subs right now). Just wanted to let you know that there are other options (if you're ok with the not so great quality) =D

You know what is going to be guaranteed is, we're in the highs now and so when the curtain falls, we're definitely going to be in the lows. Yes we're going to be depressed, yes we're going to SUFFER and where drool ruled the day, there will be tears in abundance.
But I wouldn't have it any other way because we had the best ride ever, we'll know that we are in this pain together, that we have friends who understand and that we can still come back to OT to meet up and commiserate.
So *no regrets* because once this is through, we still have each other. :)

Love it.
I also love how Jung-hoo’s cat-like reflexes disappear anytime Young-shin leaves him flustered, like while he was reading her email. Keep the falls coming! I love seeing him rattled with emotions. Every little thing about that email scene makes me squee.
And finally, HOLY SHIT, Jung-hoo’s gum chewing, interpretation of himself—HA, DYING!

I think he said in the episode that he was curious but he wouldn't ask 'personal' questions of Moon Ho as long as Moon Ho returns the favour and doesn't ask personal questions of him, like, does he have any friends etc. (This...might not have come out in the recap...but it was after Moon Ho asked him whether he had any friends when they were standing in the abandoned junkyard.)

Actually, it seems that Moon Ho has been looking into this all these years, but he's been blocked on every end, and he wasn't sure who he could trust to help investigate deeper. It's why now that he knows that Healer is JH, he was willing to turn over whatever (little) he managed to gather so that JH could get a head start on investigating the truth. Right now JH is so focused on this that I don't think he has quite put together or realized that someone is out to get CYS, or maybe he thought the threat was over since the bad guy died (the VISIBLE bad guy and not Moon Shik or the Elder). He's thinking about coming clean, and that to him is terrifying and is probably occupying his topmost thoughts. That's just what I think is happening anyway...

With its exploding popularity on this site, I thought it was hugely popular in the motherland. I realize this is only one site and international at that, but oftentimes the response here reflects the response in Korea, much like Misaeng. Judging by the comment section, I was sure Healer was on its way to becoming the "nation's drama" :) (I can't remember the term used for shows hitting 40% or higher in ratings like Kim Samsoon).

@halo actually you'd be surprised. There are quite a few dramas that are recapped on DB and have taken the international community by storm that did not perform as well (in terms of ratings) in Korea.
Also, it's usually quite rare for modern rom-coms to break the 40% mark - usually the ones that do are the longer family dramas or the saeguk ones (or at least that seems to be the recent trend).

Oh, was this where I was supposed to park my food truck suggestion? ;) Pun unintended.
Anyway, Ivoire's suggestion of a fan-vid is possible - I'm assuming the vid would be more of folks (us?) telling them how much we love Healer and how we hope they will keep up the good work, possibly overlaid with Healer OST and splices of the drama to date, rather than a rehash of the drama? Maybe a drama parody? Complete with Korean subtitles?? :p How do we send this? Tag their twitter account with the link?
I do agree that I think the ratings aren't doing it justice and I do wish the drama team would get shown more love for the awesome work that they're doing.

And if this were to come to fruition, we would need someone (or a group of people) to translate everything into Korean and put subs on the video so the crew/cast will understand it once we send it to them. :)

Yeah, we'd need the reverse of what normal fan-subbing groups do HAHA or we try to keep it simple - maybe just a line that says "We love you - from XX "country" or "Fighting!" (simple phrases that we can google translate or that some of us already know by all the intensive drama watching we do), so the video can show all of us holding up a piece of paper that says that? It shows some continuity and would be less resource intensive than having to sub a thousand videos HAHAHAHA. I dunno. What else would be fun or entertaining for the cast to watch? I love the idea of a parody or a fun dance but that requires a bit more coordination and work HAHA
And by the by, we should send ginseng drinks too. The whole cast looks like they need them. LOL

How about a fan-vid that gets each contributor dressed up as one of the many characters on Healer? Together with warm/wacky/supportive messages, of course.
I have a feeling many would want to dress up as female Healers or even CYS but I would definitely choose Ajumma-fashion since well, being phototragic, more age-related, funky yadda, yadda. I just need to get my wigs, knitting needles and my Mom's chairbacks to get ready. Muahahahah...

@autleaf that sounds fun. Cosplay AND heartwarming messages, I love it already! And I would love to be Ahjumma too - it will give me a reason to wear all this random knitwear I have at home LOL and maybe take a video with socked feet on my desk, with knitting needles. Anyone with the video editing skills to make this happen?

@Rainerust for some reason, I can't reply to your reply below. Hahaha, we Healer Beanies have exhausted even the nesting thread in our fervor.
Anyway, we can include this as a special tribute to Kim Mi Kyung. I've loved her since SKKS, where she played PMY's mother! Let's hope they get a "reunion" scene in Healer. That would be super-meta.

Hi HRUSGies / Nutcrackers!
I'm behind the food truck idea, or just some snacks that would give the cast and crew a small rest from the live shooting frenzy.
After all, JCW seems like the kind of guy who'd appreciate his fans supporting his crew too. A happy crew means they can also take better care of our Healer!
Not sure if everyone's thinking along the lines of giving a donation or more like providing photos, comments, etc? Is there a way to co-ordinate funds using a paypal account or something similar, I wonder?

I didn't expect for Healer to reveal himself to Moon-ho which makes me like him more. I can't say that he was caught off-guard. But revealing himself like that is so cool! or hot!
I was biting my finger the whole date scene to avoid squealing like crazy in our office. Its so exciting and a bit intense. Its like an idol dating in secret 10 times! And the holding hands... now I don't know which do I like, the rooftop kiss or this holding hands. I actually stopped watching after that scene for I will not understand anything more since I am watching it raw. Thanks to whomever streamed it on youtube.

@Ivoire
If we ever decide to have a Beanie meet-up for us Californians, I'm thinking we should post notices on the OT several weeks in advance, and also in recap threads, letting others know of an upcoming meet-up. We'd have to all decide on a place and timing though, so I'd say the OT would be crucial for us to communicate through, unless we decide to exchange personal information.

Which site did you use to watch Empress Ki? DramaFever does not have it. I've tried several different youtube links and simply Googling "Empress Ki eng sub" but the video quality from the various websites has not been very good, even when I choose the HD option. I'm in Washington, so in the U.S. as well. I'd only seen JCW on Running Man and the few clips they showed from Empress Ki was not enough to grab my interest in his drama. They only showed clips of him whining for persimmons! :) But his performance in Healer makes me want to give Ki a shot even though it has a high episode count. Thanks in advance.

@halo: You don't need the monthly subscription to watch Empress Ki (or any kdrama, for that matter) -- they're all free and you don't need a login to see them. As long as you can stand some ads in between (like 5 or so at a time about 5-6 times), then you're all good. I've gotten so used to tuning out the ads like tv commercial breaks.

Not exactly Japanese...
German living in Japan ^^
I try to wait for the subs next day... but sure you know how it goes,... I just do a last check before I go to bed and as if it was a miracle, the raw for the latest epispode is out just that moment - unfortunately I'm already beyond the point of being able to wait for the subs, so after trying to calm down myself by repeating that I will just catch a qick look at the first scene.. .... I of course end up watching the whole thing (>< despite i have to wake up early the morning *cry*). I have limited knowlege in korean, but its enought to catch the "normal" conversations that are not about politics etc..
Thus, I have to watch the same thing again the next day with subs oO;
Its not my fault. Its my limited korean thats responsible....

At first I was personally going to put down countries and names neatly in one post, but that will really be killing and I could make mistakes. They have nothing against him, it's obviously some higher ups that want to keep the case untouched. They're obliged to show him the file, but I bet they'd that they "lost" it or some other lie.
I'd say he should call Young-shin's dad...no wait he can't. Darn.

Oh, Healer. I can’t believe I can just sit here for hours writing about how much I love you and why. But I can and I do and I totally don’t regret it. I love you, and I’ll list the ways:
1. Jung hoo and Moon ho! After a cliffhanger in which two main characters each make shocking discoveries about the other…we actually open with a scene in which these two characters have it out completely, come to an understanding, begin working as a team AND even already have me looking forward to the potential bromance (uh, and trust building)? Talk about refreshing. I love the results these revelations regarding each other yielded, with Jung Hoo reluctant to acknowledge the deeper connection between them and Moon Ho taking that connection to heart and trying to mend it. I teared up when he looked at Jung hoo walking away, and imagined his father walking beside him :(
2. Just after I said I wanted Young shin to start realizing how much she cares about Bong-soo, Show goes and has him play hard to get! AHHHH I love it. She was so miffed. Like she didn’t even understand the concept of Bong-soo going off without her! The moment you start expecting someone to just tag along with you wherever you go, is the moment right before you fall! ;) And how much did I love that it was the boys making her jealous for once!
3. I admit I totally expected Ahjumma to keep Young-shin’s email a secret…so that’s why I’m so stoked she told him (omg, he was adorable). What’s more is she actually helped plan the date ahhhh! It’s just too sweet! The whole date was just so perfect.
4. INTERLOCKED FINGERS.
5. That ending! Love that he’s walking straight into the belly of the beast! (But also very scared!)
I have so much more I adore about this drama and episode, but I don’t have time right now so I’ll probably come back and write more later :)

I applaud you! You did that very fast and very well and caught all the scenes and thoughts that I liked as well.
I liked how she was shocked that the boys would go off without her.
But Moon Ho and Jung Hoo working together was for the longest time the relationship I wanted, and I feared it would take too long coming or after a lot of frustrating working at cross purposes. I'm so happy that it happens now in Ep 11 with 9 more eps to go, to build up trust and bromance.

Okay, so who else cried at that Junghoo-Joonseok father-son scene where they walked away together side by side? I immediately teared up as soon as those two showed up in the frame together, but by the time Healer-daddy looked back and smiled at Moon-ho, I was already bawling. Uncontrollably. And loudly. With no regard for my housemates already deep asleep.
IMO, this is where the show is really great at, among other million things. Healer’s really good at seamlessly and effortlessly eliciting emotions from you, especially in those nostalgic scenes featuring the older generation they pepper throughout the drama. We know the past is tragic, but the show is not being overly dramatic and in-your-face about it, as most dramas are to do. They inject the past to the present very fluidly, and without warning, so that when you’re hit with waves of emotions, you feel it true, instantaneous, and suddenly, further amplifying your feelings.
It’s also why KMH is a very important character in the drama, because he truly is the emotional center of the story, more so than CYS and SJH. He is our link to the past and through him, we can see what their lives had been, and what could have been if the shit never hit the fan, making us more and more invested with our characters and their stories.

Yes.. that scene teared me up as well. The moment JH's dad appeared, how alike both of them are. The coordinated kick of the can. Just daebak scene.
And MH's expression looking at a lost hyung, whom was such a big part of his growing up days, so much pain and sadness.
He tugging JH's jacket, calling him JungHu-ya, so much tenderness in his voice. Like suddenly he comes the nanny he was 22 years ago when the adults went to have some beer.
For MH, to find YS and to link that it was JH that helped him find YS. I dunno how he can process this fate that ties them 3 together.

That part was filmed beautifully! Not only JH looks like his dad but he acts like him too. They have so many similarities like how good he is with his hands/tools, his playfulness, beautiful smile/grin, and so much more. Too bad that because of other peoples greed for money/power/love, these youngsters (KMH, CYS, JH) lost their happy childhood and family. Even though they can't bring back the past, I can't wait for justice to be served and, for our beloved Healer, CYS, KMH to live happily ever after.

That father and and son walking away together scene was sad because while similar, they were both so different.
They looked alike and had with similar mannerisms - both kicking cans. Yet, JS was jovial and happy, with a carefree attitude, surrounded by friends who loved him while JH is alone and lonely, with no friends to call his own, not even someone to ask whether he has any friends, and until recently, without a reason to live even.
When JS turned back to look at MHo, it's as if he was thanking MHo for bringing his son back, and setting him on the track to the discovery of his (JS') real story.

I think the moment JS turned around and smiled at MH, it was like JS approved his decisions and saying thank you or showing gratitude for somehow taking care of his son. That MH is doing the right thing.

Many thanks to JB for recapping! I always loved the way you recap and your comments. Always spot on.
The junkyard scene is my fav for ep 11. Love both actors for bringing out the emotions so visibly for a scene that could have just be left flat for less seasoned actors.
22 years ago, JH calls MH Uncle. Now that they are all grown up, I hope one day JH will call MH hyung. I still don't understand why MH doesn't want to tell JH that CYS is JA since that will eliminate MH's fear that Healer will turn against him and go to KMS.
I so agree that JH tries so hard to look unaffected yet everything inside him is shattering.
Can't wait for Ep12 tonight!

I think it's a good idea for KMH not to tell Healer yet that CYS is Ji-an, especially since Jung-hoo just found out that the man his father was supposed to have killed was her father. That would have thrown SJH's life upside-down.

Re the junkyard scene, I think JB is not correct in saying that the flashback was seen through Jung-hoo's eyes. The little boy shown playing around the yard with that propeller thing in his hand was Moon-Ho. This was shown in a flashback in an earlier episode, though from another angle.

And so I thought too.
Teacher Healer was in the flashback as was Gil Han and Joon Seok. Teacher was released from prison in '92/'93, when JH was 6. After his release, Teacher Healer found out both GH and JS are dead. JH cannot have any memory of all three, Teacher, GH and JS, being together.
This, in addition to what you've stated above regarding the boy with the propeller toy (more likely a radiator cooling fan).

Yes. The addiction for Healer is so real. I watch it first raw/with Chinese subs(since they are out faster), then rewatch it with English subs after that. It's been ages since I've been this hooked to a drama, the last one being Bridal Mask.
Part of me wishes that I should have started watching Healer after its completed so I can save myself from the agonising wait every week, part of me is happy that I watch it ongoing so I can join my fellow addicts chanting about the wonders of Healer and Ji Chang Wook(he gave off that dumb image on RM but his acting is really good!)

Bridal Mask totally got me too!! Has been my favorite out of 100. I wept like a baby in so many episodes. And that ending? Simply extraordinary. I'm now going to have to have two categories for my favorites - historical and modern - so now Bridal Mask can share the top spot with Healer!

That ending was really good! I wept like some crazy maniac and even ended up with bloated eyes the next day. I was so crazy over Bridal Mask that I would search for recaps during lesson time as I couldn't contain my suspense. (I usually prefer to watch then read recaps as it feels more rewarding that way)
That's a good idea XD I was complaining over the lack of really good dramas in 2013 & 2014 that could top Bridal Mask, but Healer is rising to that spot soon (as long as they don't screw the ending up)

I'm glad i stuck with this show. Wow! It really rubbed that other show's nose in the muck, didn't it? Can't believe they trumpeted that they were the better show then had to rerevise that stance when they fell on their assess, hard. Always loved an underdog story and healer was the one who was predicted to fall but didn't. Young shin has a very parisienne vibe in this episode. None of that seafood platter guck carried by that lame nose character in that other show. Thank god having only a healthy pair of ovaries does not give you princess status anymore. Platter be damn! I just love hating it. Maybe because i was expecting too much then i started watching healer because bitin baga. Then i remembered that healer was panned because it was sort of a pinocchio copycat and it's not. It's actually better and more tightly put together. And unlike the people here i am not crushing on healer or the uncle. I am just an ordinary korean drama watcher who likes a good story. I don't even remember the names of the actors but i did see two of them in lady vengeance, which is close to a masterpiece actually. It starred that lady from jewel in the palace and directed by the guy who did oldboy. I just saw snowpiercer and i laughed because it was actually a noona romance in the making movie. Sly, these koreans. Deliciously devilish.

Been waiting for this! As much as I'd want to gush about the movie theatre scene (which had me drowning in the sea of feels), my favourites turned out to be the ones with Moon Ho and Jung Hoo. I love how the flashbacks reveal that protective nature of his and a genuine desire to help Jung Hoo or other intention he might have. Nonetheless, I adore their teamwork.
I also really loved ahjumma in this episode.I cracked up when she started singing 'Some'!

Yes, I actually had so much more emotionally at stake in that slow (almost sexy) reveal as he put on the light and walked up slowly pulling back the hood *getting hot* and then moving the dark glasses and raising his face *palpitations* and that direct look from those eyes *almost swoon*.
Yes, this time, I have to say I liked the MH - JH scenes maybe slightly better than the date. :)

In the midst of work now but just wanted to come and say a huge thank you to Javabeans for recapping this so quickly!
I always heave a sigh of relief whenever I read in the 1st paragraph (preface) Javabeans' overall comment. When she said its GOOD, I'll be so glad coz Healer is such a good and addictive drama that I HOPE for goodness sake the writers will continue this style of writing and DON'T GO ALL MAKJANG OR IDIOCY or whatever on us!

I just looooove that Healer gets to be Seo Jung Hoo in front of somebody other than Teacher and his mom for once in such a long time. It really is so tragic that nobody seems to even 'know' him. And now finally someone who genuinely wants to connect with him has come along, and it's Moon Ho and ahhhh, I'm just so happy.

I am LIVING for the moment when barriers come crashing down between these two and Jung-hoo calls Moon-ho "hyung". I can't decide if I want it to be a quiet scene with gentle lighting and swelling music and unshed tears, or if I want it to be fraught with action and have Jung-hoo call him that in a moment of forgetting himself. I'd take either (or whatever is dreamt up by the creative team) but I WANT IT. I want Jung-hoo to make personal connections brimming with unconditional love and acceptance, I WAAAAANT IIIIIT.

I love the bromance happening! ...but also urgh all the lies of omission (even if for 'good' reasons) - you can really see why Moon Ho is Moon Shik's brother (even when it hurts me to say this) because of all the stuff he's holding close to his chest. All that guilt, all that love, but also...all that callousness. JH's thin veneer of bravado and all that longing for someone to just want him, and stay by him comes through so clear in the scenes with Moon Ho that you can almost hear your heart breaking when you think about all the possible future scenarios. ALL THE PAINNNNN....

lovely episode. I Love it.
1. MH made a terrible mistake lying to JH bout Jian's death. wrong move bro, wrong move.
2. MH's memory of JH's dad(while father and son kicked d can together) broke me. like I shed few tears in dat scene. I couldn't just hold it in any longer. MH tryna reach out to healer and JH acting like he doesn't care, oof, at dat moment I want MH to just hug him. just for ma heart's sake.
3. Noona seeking out JH's mom cleared a lot of things. Though I still don't forgive her for leaving poor puppy alone but she had good reasons for it. tryna clear her late hubby's name. will like to see how MS threatened her.
4. Damn u MOONSHIK. Damn u for destroying innocent lives just for Greed. Damn u. *sniff*
5. The Date.
JH was ready to tell YS d truth but he has to clear his father's name 1st. oof why must a relationship btw these two be hard. I understood Ajumma tryna protect her cub(even tho her singing made me laugh) but I just wanted Ajumma to let him go on d date. he has been alone for too long. he needs it.
Now,i got a lil pissed with JH at d cinema. what crime did he commit u ask? HE YAWNED. lol he's so rude. Even tho YS couldn't see him,its still rude to yawn. that boy needs some whooping just for that.
the hand-holding scene was romantic But heartbreaking at d same time. *sigh* they wanted to be together but couldn't. lovely scene.
I watched the episode raw and though I didn't understand some of what they were saying,i could feel d emotion. I cried a lil, smiled a lil, laughed a lil and hurt a lot.
lesson learned. Don't get very attached(emotionally) to a show.
great Episode.

I think this date is special for Jung Woo because it was his first real "movie" experience. In one of the previous eps when Ajumma asked if he wanted to be Superman and he asked Who is Superman? She told him to go and try watching a movie. He probably was slowly trying to relax and enjoy the show. He surely knows how to impress a girl with lit up candles and car taking her home.. heart melts...

"suddenly, the revolving doors start to spin, as though inviting her back inside.
She wanders into the lobby until she comes upon a hallway, and it’s lit with candles."

I just kept thinking of all the logistics - like, how would the revolving doors begin spinning? How can all the candles keep burning (without the candles at the start starting to flicker out) unless they are electrical rather than real candles (and also how dangerous is it to be lighting candles in a carpeted environment where it could so easily catch fire?)... I am clearly not a romantic soul LOL

I think the candles are electrical. You can buy the same ones in my neighbourhood. They flicker like real ones... but the flame does not "move" or gets smaller and bigger.

I think the revolving doors have a motor to keep it revolving automatically at a set speed, albeit much lower and you can still push at the doors to get it moving faster. Knowing how good Ahjumma is at hacking, I believe she did just that to get the door to revolve even after closing hours.

@bbstl LOL I kept thinking he must have paid them off - or else he would have to wait until they knock off and then try to arrange those candles in a PERFECTLY STRAIGHT LINE with superhuman speed (cos he's Healer y'know) while Ahjumma hacks whatever that's controlling the revolving door to get it to revolve. And @Canavalia yeah I concluded they were electrical too, cos the candles at the start weren't melted down and there is NO WAY they wouldn't be if they were real candles.

Not to mention that by RL norms, it is not advisable, even dangerous to meet someone you do not know well on your own, clouded in the darkness. Anything could have happened in the dark cinema with no one around to help or to hear your shout of help.
Of course, these only occurred to me after deep contemplation (snerk...) and in a sense, CYS has already known Healer's noble intentions of keeping her safe, so I guess that helps to calm down through the date. Still, in the spirit of public awareness, please do not attempt such dates in RL. Unless you've been saved from a falling elevator and kissed senseless on a rooftop.
Yeah, my giddiness of seeing CYS being stalked and the two of them dating in a dark cinema after closing hours has just set personal safety awareness by 2 centuries, hahahahah....

Does anyone know why MH decided to keep the fact that Jian is YS from JH?
Required fields are marked *

January 12, 2015 at 9:55 PM
@Cookie
yea that part leaves me questioning myself too because I just don't get it. Is it because MH knows Healer likes YS and doesn't want to hurt JH with the your-father-killed-her father? But that also doesn't make sense as MH also believes that JH's dad was innocent plus i don't think he knows about JH's feeling towards YS
Another shallow argument could be that he is being protective of YS because he doesn't entirely trust JH. But then again, it's not not JH is going to do something bad, they were childhood friends after all.
Sooo i guess our only option is to continue watching and i'm hoping that the writer can come up with a clever answer to this because he/she has done a wonderful job so far

January 12, 2015 at 11:37 PM
My thought was that MH believed JH's dad to be innocent , but that hasn't been proved yet. MH perhaps wanted to wait until it's proven , else JH would lose focus (by feeling guilty towards YS) or both YS and JH would get hurt by the revelation.
The other reason I thought was that he wanted to keep YS for himself -- either to protect her from everyone. Unless he has some feelings for YS? Nah, I think he just sees her like a little sister or niece, right?

The first thought that came to me was that he had, had that conversation with Moon Shik about how Ji An had to be dead in order for Myung Hee to continue (or something like that).
There is some convoluted and obscure reason (which I cannot understand) why those brothers think they are protecting Myung Hee by faking Ji An's death.
Required fields are marked *
Tara
January 12, 2015 at 11:11 PM
@growingbeautifully: I think that Moon-shik wants Myung-hee to think that Ji-an is dead solely for the selfish reason of wanting to keep her all to himself -- even if Ji-an's birth father is dead. Because having her alive will likely keep alive his memory, and of course he can't have that...especially when she thinks back fondly to their memories as a group. It's an aspect of kdramas that I don't like...thinking one can "shield" someone from their past memories because of their inferiority complex of having stolen them away from their "rightful" loved one.
And I'm thinking they're both keeping Young-shin from her because of her fragile condition...? (although I thought she handled seeing Jung-seok when it was his son Jung-hoo better than I expected...in the back of my mind, I thought she was gonna hyperventilate or something). I just wish Moon-ho would spill the beans already!

@Growingbeautifully
If I recall right, in that conversation, Moon-Ho was not suggesting that Ji An had to be dead for Myung Hee to continue. Rather he was berating his brother, asking Moon Shik something like "why, what would you do if Ji An is alive, have her killed?"
I fully understand Moon-Ho's reluctance to tell Jung-Hoo about CYS being Ji An this early, as they do not yet fully trust each other. I think he will do so when he realises that Moon Shik has already found out about CYS, because then the stakes would have been raised several notches. The battle/was is gearing up really fast.

I think it's just Human nature... Moon shik lost Myung Hee to Gil Han. After Gil Han's death he grabbed the opportunity to erase his all memories from Myung Hee's life (including Ji An) and kept her with him. Love makes some people selfish too :/
Btw to me Myung Hee is bit confusing !! she said to JH's mom that she never believed the Joon Seok was the murderer and MH told JH that MS was the witness... Myung Hee is now living with Moon Shik then she never asked him anything???

Not really unfair at all since they are the ones doing all the work.
Also, there are different recappers for each drama right now and how long it takes for the Punch Episode 8 recap has nothing to do with when the recap for Healer ep 12 goes up. Meaning that Javabeans is only doing recaps for Healer right now and not Punch. So Punch isn't getting put off because of Healer and that recapper is probably hard at work to complete the recap as soon as they can.

I agree...Javabeans and Girlfriday are doing all of us an immensely thankful service by providing us with such detailed recaps -- which they do on their own free time. You should be thankful that this site even exists, imo...not complaining about why a recap for another drama isn't up yet. Both Healer and Punch are on the exact same day & at the exact same time...so are they supposed to be even more superhuman than they already are, just to appease you?
I'm sorry, but I don't think you'll find anyone on here sympathetic to your complaint...it's rude and frankly quite Debbie Downer-ish to do so on this thread, when it should be joyful and thoughtful discussion on the latest episode of Healer. Who are you to use that tone of speech and choice of words that clearly display your lack of courtesy, respect, gratitude and humility towards Javabeans and the rest of the recappers when they have done it out of the goodness of their heart, without expecting anything in return?
You have the audacity, the gall, the total lack of consideration of the feelings of the recappers to say what you said!
Take a good look in the mirror and reflect on your words and actions!
Your words are not just totally lacking in respect and consideration but also hint at your immaturity and childishness.

@koreandramalover/kay - No, chingu, it wasn't my intention to defend anyone here. And of course you have every right to defend the show. I'm just saying that I think what you're trying to point out has already been understood by her (because she's not replying anymore), so there's no need for further responses. Let's just let it slide, yes? :)

@Omomo
I appreciate what you did but your comment came right after my response to HER comment. I was not trying to pick a fight so I would appreciate it if you can see my point of view as well, since you could see her point of view?

@Omomo
Frankly I would prefer it if you did not say anything because it was an exchange between her and me.

seeing your comments i assumed you are still expecting my reply and start a war, when you addressing me how can i stay put.this began by you. every one are free to comment but not blaming each other.we are on healer recap so just heal your mind. why are you so much bothered about my comment.i saw some others commented on my comment and they delivered the message clearly, so i understood but your explanation was so harsh. when some one not agreeing with you, you are getting angry that is the nature of you. i hope you will stop from here.

@Mido
If you expected me to read your long-winded comment, you are sorely mistaken.
I took a look and saw a whole bunch of words under your name and just posted this comment.
I do not have any desire to communicate with you or read your comments. So if you wish to waste your time, go right ahead.
You are a nobody to me and your opinions mean absolutely nothing to me also.
So you give it a rest...or not.

You take the phrase 'rabid drama fan' to new heights. No need to diss another commenter on this thread, whether she shares your love for the drama or not. Take it easy.

SO. ABSOLUTELY. FREAKIN. GOOD!!!!!!!! :)
My first time posting on this thread, after always waking up the morning after, looking at __+ comments! (and wow, beanies...1000+ per ep seemingly on track every ep now!) As I'm typing this, comments have already hit 100!
I was always a bit...undetermined? at what to think of Moon-ho previously because he seemed to be in the grey. But today's ep firmly cemented him to likeable status for me...and I'm actually glad he was the first one to discover Jung-hoo as Healer -- contrary to my previous thoughts in wanting Young-shin to know first. Because then we wouldn't have had that so beautifully executed squee-tastic "date"! Who knew I'd be ecstatic with their holding hands...even more than the rooftop kiss?! :P I was watching this raw on my break at work and literally squealed out loud at the scene...to have my co-workers look up while eating their lunches, wondering why :P
And now that Moon-ho and Jung-hoo have joined forces together, I'm hoping that they'll now have more effectiveness in getting over the damn tricky claws that Moon-shik seemingly has in every aspect of life, practically. I'm glad that Moon-ho let Jung-hoo know that his father wasn't a murderer, because it seemed to weigh on him to reveal his identity to Young-shin. I'm just waiting for Moon-shik to slip up and have our Dynamic Duo finally be able to dig up the dirt on the past events, and gain the ammunition necessary to take him down, once and for all. (Of course, that won't be til later...but a girl can hope things start to go our duo's way!)
It was very moving to see Moon-ho recollecting both Jung-hoo and Young-shin as kids, and how he realizes that the two kiddies are still alive, having now grown up with such scarred childhoods...all the more to weigh on his guilty conscience. And to have Jung-hoo's mom be the one to tell Myung-hee that she's living with a monster...she needed to hear that, although it's unlikely of her to fathom how freakingly evil he really is -- probably tying equally with the fact that Ji-an is stll alive. I'm probably not the only one patiently waiting for those two shoes to drop soon...she's been living sheltered away from seeing that side of dear hubby, and it'll likely break her.
And I have to agree, I love jealous Young-shin...and I really do hope it'll wake her up to realizing that this jealousy = feelings for our poor Bong-soo! She obviously has no idea, but man...I can't wait to see her reaction to when she finally knows.

Hello! Welcome to the asylum! *crazed grin* :D
Lovely post! And the day Young Shin finally finds out about Healer's identity = the day the Healer thread will explode into astronomical proportions, the DB servers will go down with it. Seriously, I can't wait for it too. Hoping for a positive reaction!
