Kill Me Heal Me secures leads and supporting cast

It took a while, but Kill Me Heal Me finally has a cast, all at once — and it’s not a bad one, either. I’d wondered when it seemed to have difficulty getting actors to stick around, but maybe the wait was worth it to end up with Ji Sung after all? And joining him is Hwang Jung-eum, with whom he starred in Secret only last year.

I’m surprised that these two are reteaming so soon after that drama, but at this point with only a month till showtime, it’s probably more important to get a cast nailed down. And at least we know that the two actors work well together and have chemistry, even if the type of chemistry in Secret (wounded, twisted) was of a completely different nature than the “healing romantic comedy” we’re going to be getting in Kill Me Heal Me. The plot, in case you need a refresher: A third-generation chaebol suffers from multiple personality disorder stemming from a childhood trauma, and with the help of a first-year psychiatry resident who becomes his secret family doctor, he seeks to find missing fragments of his childhood memories. Also they fall in love (but you could have guessed that, yes?).

I can absolutely see Ji Sung playing a leading man harboring seven different personalities with aplomb, and while he’s probably done more serious dramatic roles in his career than lighter ones, we’ve seen him being bold and funny not too long ago in Protect the Boss. I actually prefer Hwang Jung-eum in funnier roles than the weepy angstfests, too (whyyy does she do so many weepy angstfests), so all in all I like these picks. Her character is described as belying her sweet looks by being more tomboyish than girly — she has a monstrous appetite (dramaland’s latest heroine trend), an excessively easygoing nature, and a notable clumsy streak.

Supporting leads have also confirmed, with Kim Yuri (Master’s Sun, Full Sun) and Oh Min-seok (Misaeng, Joseon Gunman) joining the previously cast Park Seo-joon (Witch’s Romance). Park is the only name who’s been with the project through its various lineup changes, but it makes sense once you hear the writer state that from the outset, she’d envisioned him in the role; he’ll be Hwang Jung-eum’s twin brother and a mystery novelist who’s both super-smart and a bit quirky… in that he’s also seen as something of the neighborhood fool. If it’s anything like Kim Soo-hyun’s village idiot act of Secretly, Grandly, it oughtta be fun.

Kim Yuri will play an art director who is Ji Sung’s first love, described as a “proud ice princess” who gets thrown into confusion over the hero. Oh Min-seok follows up his Misaeng turn (which has become a minor breakout for him) as a workaholic CEO who’ll challenge Ji Sung’s status as company successor.

With everyone finally in place, Kill Me Heal Me will commence filming shortly; slotted to follow Mr. Back as MBC’s next Wednesday-Thursday drama, it premieres on January 7.

Secret was one of my favourite dramas last year, but yes it would be interesting to see a completely different dynamic in this one. Also, Assistant Manager Kang!!! So glad he's getting more casting offers.

Best case scenario for what looked like a trainwreck. Not convinced of the premise but this cast shaped up nicely with two awesome leads with chemistry. I'm actually looking forward to it now.

Everybody said the same thing about Secret. But that drama is a success. I think people forgot already that Secrets defeated The Heirs (the most hype up drama) and remain #1 up until the very end. People also said the script suck and it will fail badly to I Hear Your Voice when the synopsis have been revealed but what happen?! They go on and be a rating success and remaining #1 until it's finale!! So don't be so sure and judge before you have seen it. For all we know this 2 will pull a 'Secret' again and defeat Hyunbin's drama like they did with The Heirs.

These names, I'll never get used to Korean names, especially when their faces look so much alike. For too long while reading the article and the comments, in my head that actress was Kim Ah-joong, Ji Sung's co-star in P.S. Partner.
But no stress, they're both capable actresses.
I am really curious to how this show is going to handle the psychology of MPD. It's no joke.
If the drama overall turns out just half as good as IOIL then I am a happy fangirl.

I'm absolutely thrilled!

And I prefer this cast to Hyun Bin's Jekyl and Me, because although I like(not love) Hyun Bin, I find Han Ji Min super boring.

I also like(not love) Ji Sung, but on the other hand, I adore Hwang Jung Eum..... and Park Seo Joon.

And Manager Kang is not only easy on the eye, he is a solid actor to boot...I'm happy for him.

I'm definitely in on KMHM...I'm in full anticipation mode now.

I still play Ji Sung's OST from Secret every day.
Windstorm or something. I just realized there isn't any English in any of those lyrics. He is wonderful.

I'm thinking that "Kill Me, Heal Me" is the perfect name for this show right now!

Well, congrats for saving face, now pass!

Secret was an overly-dramatic wreck and I don't want to be reminded of it with the same leads. Plus, I like Jisung as an actor, but I can't see him playing another immature prick, and somehow it feels like out of this 7-personality character a childish douche will dominate.

Hwang Jung Eum I only liked in Giant, and then again, I don't know if it was because of her, or because she was paired with Joo Sang Wook and their couple was just too cool for school. The premise also seems too much to handle, and I don't see how the production will make the drama coherent and innovative. I won't waste time on this unless I hear, once it's done, that it's really worth it.

i was so and so when i first read about the drama as there is already a split personality rom-com is coming,,, and when they talked about lee sung gi still couldn't expect anything from the drama,,, but now... man i am completely roped in if any1 can do 7 personality its ji-sung and the pairing is nicely done.. can't wait for the drama to start...

The cast before is LSG and IJY. You may have like LSG and that is fine but you like IJY better than HJE?!?! Have you seen IJY act?! She was the worst in Obsessed, her only redeeming factor was that she made explicit, completely nude sex scenes in the drama. Which made her gain praise for being bold enough to do it.

Ooh the return of comedic role for both JS and HJE. I welcome it. I remember ever said during the casting of Secret that JS HJE were among few actors who can juggling perfectly between dramatic and comedic roles. When they're being hard, serious, or sad characters, they're intense and heart-wrenching. But when they're being funny laughable characters, they're crazy to boot, without any reservations.

Imagine if HJE's High Kick character meet with JS' PtB persona, hahaha...

Finally Ji Sung comebacks to dramaland. Not interested with HJE, but at least they'll have chemistry and will heal whatever wound they have in Secret.

MBC really get good cast when meets deadline. They get SHK and JNR for Mr.Back and now JS-HJE. I think they should always meeting deadline... LOL

I prefer this cast than before because of the acting, I watch secret n i like the story at first but a bit dissappointed with few latest episode, honestly i think Jisung didn't act as good as usual n HJE not really special for me esp in crying scene, honestly i only feel the sadness when he act alongside Bae so bin, the antagonist charracter.

I'm one of those people who enjoyed Secret immensely. So to see Ji Sung and Hwang Jung Eum costarring after their spectacular on-screen chemistry, the complete lack of interest I had in this drama is definitely overridden. I am suddenly excited and could care less that multiple personality disorders are not my cup of tea. I just know Ji Sung will rock this role.

This is a pretty shallow comment, I fully admit, but... Oh Min Seok is sooo HOT in Misaeng! And I couldn't believe he also played Jake in I Do I Do... where were my eyes???

JS, PSJ, OMS... I think all that eye candy will kill me... and I don't want to be healed!

Well, KMHM now has a better casts, JS-HJE have more credibility in picking diverse roles and more acknowledgement in acting talents overall in Korea (PSJ & OMS also quite big names now). not to mention fresher/newer beloved recurring pair (Secret is just last year).

KMHM also have more interesting (at least in descriptions) characters for the 2 male leads & the female lead, with all 3 being somewhat "damaged" and "not who they seems to be". The male lead in KMHM not only has 2 but 7 personalities. I also like the idea of fraternal twins roles between HJE-PSJ char. Quite a rare occurence in K drama. Wonder what will the writer explore from them.

1. They got 4 weeks headstart...
2. The writer is an experience writer....Among her previous works are TMTETS, Capital Scandal..Both are solid drama
3. Currently, MBC is the rating leader in this timeslot with Mr.Back...

Oh man, great casting indeed! Love Ji Sung and Hwang Jung Eum in Secret. They are both good actors and have sizzling chemistry onscreen. I certainly didn't expect loving Secret what with the crazy plot...So with the bizarre plot of Kill me Heal me, these two (and the supporting actors and production team) might make it work!

I was disappointed and relieved at the same time when I heard Lee Seunggi wouldn't be doing this show and had no plans to watch it when he dropped it, but now I'm looking forward to it again because these two were brilliant in "Secret". Yayy!

omg I literally just finished rewatching Secret (again:"( and I want to see what 's new here at dramabeans when I saw the same scene I was watching an hour ago :O mindblown
I wasn't really interested in this drama, I just saw HJE and JS picture. Now I'm going to watch it!! I love Secret! the staff, cast, and specially the 2 of them! The chemistry!!! i can't wait"

1. I loved " Secret ".... It was actually my crack drama of 2013 <3

2. I love Ji Sung and Hwang Jung Eum individually and together on my screen <3 <3

3. Does the girl ever rest?? She went from the set of "Secret" straight to the set of "Endless Love", and now she's going from the set of "Endless Love" to this??? The drama addict side of mine isn't minding it too, too much because I get to see her again, but the humanistic side of me is thinking that this girl is berserk and is in need of some really good rest T.T
Ji Sung.... Oh, Ji Sung oppa *swoon* Being the doting husband that he is to Lee Bo Young, I'm surprised he isn't taking time off to spend with her and to focus more of his attention to her now that she's pregnant

Funny that she herself said that she knows it's just 2 months after her last drama so she still probably need to rest more but she just can't help fall in love with the script for KMHM. It's helped that her roles are all so diverse that I never bored to see her.

Well, I wasn't really all that excited for this one, but I do actually really really like all the cast members in the end so props to that and hears to hoping for the best because that's really all we can do at this point :)

I ADORED Hwang Jung-eum in High Kick so I'm glad she's doing a rom-com (honestly would have loved if Daniel Choi were cast too). But I obviously love Ji Sung and he should kill it here.

I also prefer HJE in rom-com or lighter roles so I'm happy she's taking a lighter role this time around. And what can I say about Jisung, that man is awesome in acting. I like him both in dramatic role and in funny one too. I'm convinced he will be able to do it because I have seen him do different characters already in his past project and he did all of them well. All he need is to do all those characters and personalities all at once in this drama and I know he can do it. He would have never taken this drama if he thinks he can't. I trust him that he can pull off a 7 multiple personality disorder. I'm actually quite skeptical back w/ Seunggi even if I love him since most of his drama I've watched are rom-coms and he almost have same personality in each drama I've watched that I wonder if he can pull it off but since he turn this down and now Jisung got it. I'm atleast rest assured about the acting.

Omg I absolutely loved Secret! The painful love between these two! Secret feels, anyone? I remembered dropping Heirs though, because I ABSOLUTELY didn't expect Secret to be so beautiful. Rivals back then. Secret ended, and I did not continue Heirs anymore. One of the great decisions in my life.

What excites me the most is the change of tone of the Ji and Hwang pairing! Enough sad love! Excited for this! So worth the wait!

Multiple personalities? Could it be like he had a twin that died when they were children? Like Do No Harm TV series? Plus, why they'll need twin in the drama if the stories doesn't link with the twin's thing?
