Healer: Episode 8

It’s a good thing I write these recaps as I watch the episode and not after already watching it through, because otherwise today’s recap would just be pictures and unintelligible vowel sounds. Like urrrrrrr and eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee and ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. I’m sure that would’ve been entertaining for all of two seconds before you needed to know exactly what happened to asplode my lingual skills. So without further ado…

EPISODE 8 RECAP

Myung-hee’s unexpected run-in with Jung-hoo occupies her thoughts afterward, and we see the encounter play out from her perspective. This time when the Healer steps out of the study, he actually bears her friend Joon-seok’s face and she calls out his name in surprise. But her vision of Joon-seok’s face is replaced with Jung-hoo’s actual one, and she drops his sleeve at the realization. Similar, but different.

Still, she tries to follow when he hurries away, although Moon-shik holds her back. As her knee-jerk reaction fades, she remembers that her friend has been dead twenty years and can’t be the person she saw, assuming that her mind was playing tricks on her. Moon-shik, however, carefully files away this information about the uncanny resemblance.

Moon-shik calls the Healer a burglar and Myung-hee decides that her confusion was her mistake, since she didn’t get a good look at the face after all. But the reminder of Joon-seok spurs the desire to get in touch with his widow, and she asks her husband to look into it. Moon-shik cautions that she might not want the reminder, but Myung-hee persists.

Moon-shik casually-but-not-casually mentions their son, and Myung-hee supplies him with the name and age (28, a month older than Ji-an), and another piece seems to click into place in his brain. It is a scary-smart brain.

The grounds crawl with security guards who completely miss the shadowy Healer perched up in a tree. I know the Healer’s the best in the industry, but the SS goons hardly make that look like an accomplishment. Jung-hoo is too intrigued to leave, watching Myung-hee at her window as he puts in a call to Min-ja.

Jung-hoo guesses that the reason Min-ja and Teacher wanted him out of the country was because of this connection between Myung-hee and his father. He gives Min-ja a long moment to explain why, and when the line remains silent, he says that he’ll have to find out for himself then.

But just as he’s about to head back, his Teacher’s voice comes over the line, stopping him short. He provides just enough information about Myung-hee’s identity to prevent him from going off like a hothead, and directs Jung-hoo to a meeting spot.

Jung-hoo drives furiously and arrives at the riverbank, where he thinks back to being eight: “After my mother left, I’ve never cried because of a person. I didn’t hope for anything from another person either. What I hate most in this world is a person’s understanding and interest.”

This flashes him back to his schoolboy years, when he’s punished at school for fighting with other boys. His teacher clucks over his constant troublemaking but asks the counselor for her understanding and interest, since Jung-hoo has no parents. He sits there enduring his teacher’s pity and his classmates’ ridicule as it’s explained that his father killed himself and his mother left.

When Jung-hoo returns to class, word has spread. Worse than ridicule is pity, and when a classmate tells the others to go easy on Jung-hoo, it only sparks more rage.

His phone rings with a call from Young-shin, who pelts him with questions and concern: Was he tracking down bars all night? Did he sleep? Why isn’t he picking up his calls? She picks up on his down mood, then asks him to pick either east or west. She received information yesterday that she ought to report to Moon-ho, but isn’t sure how much to reveal, so she’ll decide randomly. Hence: east or west?

She doesn’t leave room for Jung-hoo to protest, so he arbitrarily picks east and tries to get in a few words—difficult, when he’s not supposed to know what her info’s about. But she just tells him to eat breakfast and come in late if he needs to.

He thinks again, “What I hate most in the world is understanding and interest. Or, I used to.”

While Young-shin waits for Moon-ho to arrive at work, she mulls over her dilemma. She remembers advice she’d once been told about trusting other people, and how you shouldn’t automatically mistrust the 49 people out of 50 who are trustworthy, just because one isn’t. And yet… there’s the Healer’s warning to be wary of people who approach her with nice gestures.

She’s there when Moon-ho’s broadcast hoobae, Jong-soo, arrives to play out his role of spy. He presents himself as a close associate of Moon-ho’s, so Young-shin asks what kind of person Moon-ho is. Jong-soo agrees to tell her, if she’ll tell him all about this Chae Young-shin person, who may be the reason for Moon-ho’s move to Someday.

Young-shin’s face goes through a hilarious series of reactions to Jong-soo’s questions, which have less to do with her character and much more to do with whether she’s fresh-faced or sweet or stacked. Just then Moon-ho arrives and calls her name (Jong-soo starts in embarrassment), steering her aside for a report on her latest findings.

Young-shin plays President Hwang’s room-salon footage for Moon-ho and Editor Jang, which contains over 200 hours of video of various important men being drunk and sleazy with Hwang’s stable of actresses. But naturally they want to know where she got her hands on this evidence, and she fumbles for an answer before settling on the truth.

She reveals that her informant is someone she’s been researching for a very long time, and that it took a lot of effort to manage a rendezvous. However, she’s frank about her misgivings in trusting Moon-ho with this, since she’s not sure he won’t claim her work. Therefore, she asks that he entrust her with handling contact with the source.

Moon-ho promises readily, and asks who it is. She asks if he knows what a night courier is, and names one such messenger called the Healer. Moon-ho confirms that he’s heard of the guy.

Jung-hoo comes rushing into the office to report to the boss, but Jong-soo blocks him and insists there’s a meeting going on. Jung-hoo pulls a feint—again, mixing Bong-soo-like clumsiness with Healer’s slick moves to whirl around Jong-soo and barge in anyway.

He announces that he’s found Hwang’s favorite room salon, Luna Moon, acting like he spent all night pounding the pavement instead of just beating the info out of Hwang.

As he’s talking, Young-shin sees the pop-up notification on Moon-ho’s computer: email from the Healer. She looks at him in shock, and Moon-ho asks the others to leave them to some privacy. Jung-hoo purposely drops papers that give him an excuse to plant a bug underneath the table, then is ushered out by the editor.

Young-shin eyes Moon-shin with a fresh wave of distrust: Why would Healer be emailing Moon-ho? Via the bug, Jung-hoo listens in on the conversation as Young-shin asks Moon-ho whether he hired the Healer, and what he requested. He’s got Min-ja on the other line, who sent the email at his instructions, since he wanted clarification about why Moon-ho wanted Young-shin protected.

Moon-ho admits that he hired the Healer but declines to answer why, turning the conversation into an interviewing critique—she’s approaching him all wrong. She asks if he asked the Healer to save her from gangsters, and to take her DNA sample. She can’t understand his reasons, neither can she just drop it and accept non-answers.

Despite picking at her interviewing flaws, Moon-ho decides to answer her initial question about why he came to Someday. He says he wanted to set up his own outlet and ran background checks on every employee, not just her. After all, she’ll be a journalistic “human shield” for him, so he has to make sure she’s in good shape.

Stated like that it sounds so simple, and it gets him off the hook for every question minus the one he can’t answer about her DNA, which he baldly denies. Young-shin is hit with a wave of disappointment and embarrassment, and says that her exchange with the Healer yesterday now “makes me want to die.”

At that, we split-screen to show Jung-hoo’s face reacting to her mortification (agh, so good) as she thinks of his warning not to trust too readily. She cuts herself off before admitting that much to Moon-ho, though he’s more interested in the tidbit about her meeting the Healer yesterday. Did she see his face?

She replies, “If I’d seen it, I would know just how pitifully he regarded me.”

Moon-shik receives confirmation that Young-shin was found at the age of five and bounced from family to family for a while, and was finally adopted at eight. She was found behind a trash can in a Seoul alleyway, and was thought to have a speech disability because she refused to talk.

The report badly shakes Moon-shik’s composure, and he thinks back to the aftermath of that accident. Badly injured and lying in a hospital bed, Myung-hee begs him to find Ji-an for her. He inquires at the police station, where a report confirms that a child was found hiding behind a trash can, and that takes him to the orphanage.

Sobbing Ji-an runs to hug him, and Moon-shik comforts her wearing a heavy expression. You can see the wheels already turning in his head….

As Moon-shik recalls this, he starts breathing heavily and then hears a voice asking, “Why did you do it?” He sees his old friend Joon-seok in the room, chiding him: “If you were gonna be torn up about it forever, you should’ve just brought her home.” Ooh, is he turning all Macbeth on us now?

He tries to ignore his conscience-specter, but Joon-seok persists, asking if he thought Ji-an’s survival would keep Myung-hee bound to her dead husband. He looks like he wants to defend himself, but every time he tries to speak up, Joon-seok disappears.

And then another voice asks, “Why did you do it?” This time it’s Gil-han, Myung-hee’s first husband, reminding him, “We were friends.” He advances on Moon-shik with that look of betrayal on his face, and Moon-shik shrinks back in fear. “Friends shouldn’t do that,” Gil-han says.

And upping the creep factor even more, we see the secretary watching intently from the doorway, noting Moon-shik’s erratic behavior and reporting it straightaway to the Elder. He explains about the brothers being interested in the child lost in 1992, and that Moon-ho appears to have already approached her.

The Elder calls Moon-shik “top class” among all the people he’s developed, knowing his place without being servile, and when to advance and when to retreat. “But you see,” he adds, “Moon-shik has exactly one weakness. That daughter.” She has the capability to turn him into a balloon doll—one of those dancing balloons you put in front of stores. One needle is all it takes to pop it: “And we can’t let that happen to Moon-shik.”

The secretary understands what he means, and agrees to send Moon-ho a clear warning without Moon-shik knowing.

Moon-ho replies to the Healer’s request for information, advising him to be particularly wary of Secretary Oh. He also adds the order for the Healer to not contact Young-shin personally.

Then he assigns Young-shin and Jung-hoo (dude, couple sweaters!) to interview Yeon-hee and asks for a detective to whom they can submit the evidence, so as to prevent the other side from obstructing the case. Young-shin knows of one such character, having run into Investigator Yoon while staking out Hwang.

Then Moon-ho introduces his buddy to the team, and Editor Jang is still unable to understand why these elites would choose to come here. Moon-ho prods Jong-soo to tell them what he’d confessed earlier: that he came to spy for Moon-shik. Aw, so he couldn’t backstab his sunbae after all! I wanted to be able to keep liking him, and now I’m glad I can.

Young-shin gripes about Moon-ho on the car ride over to the interview, asking if it’s so hard for him to praise her a little for staying up all night researching. All that work catches up to her and she nods off in her seat, and as her head starts to fall, Jung-hoo carefully reaches over to prop it up with his hand.

He drives like that all the way to Young-shin’s house, where he finds weird gangster-looking ajusshis hanging about. He’s just about to back away before they’re seen, but Young-shin awakes and lights up, darting out to greet her ex-con ajusshi uncles. The mood is adorably energetic as they fawn over her, until grumpy Dad shoos them away for scaring off his customers. Jung-hoo watches this all with bemusement that gradually turns to amusement.

Over at the SS office, Sang-soo assures Secretary Oh that he and his team are up to the task. Then he gives his guys an hour to accomplish their goal, and they get to work manipulating a voice clip taken from Moon-ho’s news broadcast.

Dad again asks Yeon-hee if she’s okay to go through with the interview, even if her face will be pixelated onscreen. He knows how the other side’s attorney will attack, and giving an interview could have adverse effects on her. But Yeon-hee remains firm, reminding him that she isn’t concerned with preserving her reputation; all she wants is to take them down.

Dad asks for some time to discuss things with Yeon-hee before giving the interview, and they step aside. Young-shin asks Jung-hoo if he can handle the camera equipment, and he meekly just says he’s sure it’ll work out. Ha. He surreptitiously links in to Min-ja, who adds that his father was reportedly a whiz with machines too.

She reads him Moon-ho’s reply email, including that addendum about not making personal contact with Young-shin. I think we all know Healer well enough by now to see that this is exactly the kind of thing to spur his rebellious streak, and he just scoffs.

Young-shin leans over to examine the camera setup, and as she looks at the equipment, he looks over at her. He reaches out with a finger, and she looks at him in puzzlement as he lightly touches her forehead. “What are you doing?” she asks. “Contact,” he replies. “Personal contact.” LOL. He is such a teenager sometimes.

Min-ja practically rolls her eyes, then mentions the Teacher asking a strange question earlier about whether he preferred fruit or chocolate. Is it some kind of a code? But Jung-hoo has no clue.

Young-shin puts on a record and starts mugging for the camera, which confuses Jung-hoo. She tells him to let it go because she’s in a heavy mood, all while sending funny faces at the camera. Then she assumes a serious journalist’s mien as she runs through a mic test, mock-reporting: “Hello everyone. You are looking at a woman who has been rejected by her Crushes 1 and 2 simultaneously, who is here with clear mind to report all the same.”

Jung-hoo’s expression sharpens as he registers this. She continues: “Number 1 called this woman a human shield, and Number 2 thinks of her as a delusional attention seeker. However, let us forget this readily. Like a sad dream conjured in the middle of the night, which goes like darkness at the light of dawn. Let us forget. Let us pretend it never happen—”

She stumbles before finishing. Jung-hoo looks up at her with those eyes (those eyes), and she blinks back tears and chatters quickly about the weather.

The interview begins, and Yeon-hee names names and tells her story frankly. Young-shin starts light and increases the pressure, asking if she went along to entertain the assemblyman because she thought she’d be rewarded with favors later. It’s a little strong, so she backs off and moves on, but Yeon-hee answers anyway, saying that Young-shin doesn’t know the fear so she can talk about it so easily. She says that those people are capable of doing anything to protect their interests.

Secretary Oh confirms that whatever scheme he’s put the SS team on, it’s ready to go.

Meanwhile, Jung-hoo finally gets a call from his Teacher, who asks if he prefers chocolate or sweet potatoes. He tells him to go home immediately if he wants to meet, because Teacher’s only waiting five minutes. Jung-hoo’s exit is stopped by ajusshi, who tells him to take lunch with him, and a glimpse at the pastry case jars Jung-hoo’s memory—it’s his birthday. So that’s what Old Fogey Teacher was rattling on about?

Moon-ho calls Young-shin to the office, because an informant has surfaced. She heads out immediately, following his directions to a particular location… and we see that this is the SS tech team’s doing. Gack, they’ve doctored Moon-ho’s voice using his broadcasts, and she’s none the wiser. Fake Moon-ho directs her to turn off her phone as well, to evade potential tracking, and she complies.

Then the real Moon-ho gets a call from an unknown number. It’s a random schoolboy, who reads a note provided by Secretary Oh warning him not to forget that he owes the family who raised him, and that he cannot throw it away over one bad woman, and that his family is awaiting his return.

Alarmed, Moon-ho tries calling Young-shin and gets no reply. So he sends Healer an email outlining the details, and Jung-hoo screeches the car to a halt and orders ajumma to locate Young-shin via the tracker in her bag. He hears the direction and zooms off in a hurry. So does Moon-ho.

Secretary Oh prepares the next phase of his eeeevil plan by entering a building dressed as a construction worker, and starts to tamper with some kind of machinery. That’s the building Young-shin arrives at, although the front doors are locked. That forces her to go around to find an open door, and she enters cautiously, looking for Moon-ho.

She finds the one elevator that will work—the one that Secretary Oh has just messed with. She steps inside, and the elevator begins its ascent. Once it’s in motion, Secretary Oh opens the cable box and snips a wire.

Suddenly, the elevator jolts and clangs to a stop, while the lights flicker off. Then, it starts to free-fall—with nine stories between her and death. The elevator stops after a short drop, but it doesn’t look like it’ll hold for long.

Driving like a maniac, Jung-hoo arrives at the building and heads inside the same way. He hears the elevator gears as it begins a second fall, running in that direction as it catches a second time. He bangs on the doors at the bottom and she hears it, screaming out for help.

Jung-hoo starts running up the staircase, and Secretary Oh, who’s heading down, hears the approach with enough time to duck aside.

Young-shin fights to tamp down her mounting panic, but she can feel the precarious hold on the elevator and starts to hyperventilate. Jung-hoo arrives on the rooftop and quickly clips emergency cords in place, wearing one end as a harness, and runs to the elevator shaft.

Opening the doors manually, he sees the car stuck halfway down and leaps into the shaft, guided by the cables, and lands atop the car with a thud that makes Young-shin scream.

He opens the door and drops into the elevator next to her, just as the last of the cables give way and start snapping. He quickly pulls her cap down over her eyes and belts her into the harness, then grabs hold of her with one arm and the cable with the other.

The elevator begins its final plummet, literally falling away around them as they are pulled upward.

Jung-hoo assists Young-shin onto the rooftop, but once they’re there she flings off his arm angrily. Aw, she’s still embarrassed.

She yells at him for risking his life, and then says in a wavering voice that she’s grateful for his help, “But if we fell together, we would have both died!” More to the point, he would have died, and just because of her.

Her eyes still covered, she asks if he’s still here and reaches out a hand just as she did the other day. He steps back before she makes contact but she figures he’s still around and says that even though Moon-ho paid him for his work, she doesn’t have the money to pay him back for saving her life. “I’m sorry,” she says quietly. “Thank you.”

Without saying anything, he drops her bag at her feet and starts walking away. But he stops after a few steps, registering the snow that’s started to fall.

His voiceover repeats earlier sentiments: “After becoming alone, up till now, I haven’t wished for anything from another person. And so, I was fine.”

Below, Moon-ho arrives outside the building and heads inside. Jung-hoo continues: “I didn’t care at all whether anyone understood or misunderstood me. I was like that.”

But past tense is past tense, and he suddenly whirls around, walking purposely toward Young-shin. He pulls off his gloves and folds up her hat, just enough to see the bottom half of her face. He stops short of her eyes… and leans in… and kisses her.

COMMENTS

I’m sorry, am I supposed to write comments and make sense after that? Surely you don’t expect me to be useful at this point, do you? Not when all I want to do is rewind the last ten minutes and watch it fifty times?

Okay, fine, let’s be professional and all that. Pull it together, ‘beans.

Let’s start with the older generation, whose layers continue to be peeled back one by one—yet again, deft handling by the writing here. It’s difficult to maintain mystery without being too cryptic on one hand, or revealing too much and flattening out the tension on the other. So I’m content to see each character introduced in stages, so that we get to see how they fit into the larger picture by degrees. Obviously Jung-hoo’s father was a victim and not the aggressor, but I’m still curious to know exactly how the betrayal went, and in what order.

Despite Moon-shik being a pretty clear villain, I like that he doesn’t seem to be a black-and-white sort of guy. Yes, he’s guilty as sin: If he didn’t outright kill his friends, he still bore responsibility for their demises, not to mention the present-day hits he’s ordering as a part of his clean-up job. His hands are unclean and bloodstained, and he doesn’t seem all too torn up about killing Go Sung-chul, for instance. But I don’t want him to be this flat mastermind whose life was consumed by an obsessive love for a woman he had to have. That’s too simple and I don’t buy it, and I don’t think the show means to take that route either.

I’d rather see Moon-shik as a tragic figure—the guy who had every capacity to be a hero, but made every bad choice. I don’t think redemption has to be in his cards, but his complexity is what I find fascinating about him—I don’t care when he’s smug and in perfect control, but I do feel sucked in when he hallucinates his friends and actually seems afraid. I want to see him come to an understanding that he was completely wrong, and I want to have him wish for his soul, only to realize he’s already sold it.

As for the romance, I’m trying to pinpoint what about Jung-hoo and Young-shin make it so exciting and giddy-making, because its parts alone don’t explain it—we’ve seen these elements time and time again, and in some dramas I find them trite and unmoving, while in others I’m squealing at my screen and hugging myself.

I always love when the romantic journey plays off other elements of the story, and Healer gives us that. This isn’t to say a pure romantic storyline wouldn’t work well, but things are always more fun when you add layers and faces and dimension. (A single light may shine, but there’s something extra satisfying about holding up a gem to the light and finding unexpected glints coming through from other facets.)

Both Jung-hoo and Young-shin have some growing up to do on their own, and their connection is more like a collective group of smaller connections. They’re friends, colleagues, fellow survivors of abandonment—and then there’s the extra connection they don’t even know about, with regard to their childhoods. Jung-hoo has voiced the same sentiment a few times now, that he used to feel a certain way, and is starting to change his mind about them.

I don’t get the sense that it’s as simple as “I like her so I feel differently,” but that the things he can’t abide in other people don’t apply to her, because she’s a kindred spirit. When somebody comes at him from a certain perspective, he has a tendency to dig in his heels and rebel, as we see with Min-ja and Teacher. But when that person is seeing things through your own eyes, whether you mean for them to see that or not, you can’t have the same response, because now their view is your view. Sometimes that’s all it takes.

I went into this drama expecting nothing after the disappointing writing and characterization of Pinocchio, which turned out to be all hype.

I stayed not for the romance (which is kind of cute and unforced) but the mystery at the heart of the story which has never lost its tension since episode 1.

I also like that the characters are not black and white as is usually painted. each has his own story to tell; each has his own tragic/untragic history.

I also like that the leading female character had a previous life before the start of the story. she was orphaned, she was abused, she was adopted by a good man, she had a job, she had a life. compare that to the leading female character in Pinocchio who's basically a moocher and a slacker. I think she's the only female character I've encountered in a k-drama who basically has no life when the story started. weird, huh? "reporting" was basically her first job but she only got it because she was a "parachute". puny and limp. hahaha

so far, I like the characters in healer. they don't bore me and each of them has a reason for being you know. unlike some of the characters in Pinocchio, who's reason is probably because the actors need a steady paycheck.

whoever the writer of healer is, keep it up. you're in the right track and kudos to you for giving us a show that challenges our intelligence and exercises our bleeding hearts.

Glad you like Healer.

But WHY are you dissing on 'Pinocchio' in this thread?

Lots of folks enjoy Pinocchio, everyone is entitled to like what they like according to their personal preference and viewing taste.

I have a policy of never making negative comments about a show, because at the end of the day, these actors work hard, try their best to provide us viewers with either an entertaining, gripping, funny etc show. If the drama doesn't do it for you, stop watching and enjoy something else. I have began many dramas only to stop halfway sometimes even at epsiode 1 because it didn't do anything for me

I like to go in defense of In Ha the leading lady character in Pinocchio, she was not a 'slacker', she tried her best to become a news reporter with 36 interviews, but because she has the Pinocchio syndrome that went against her. As for being a 'Moocher' as you put it, she was well aware that Dal po was working his butt off as a taxi driver in order for her to continue pursuing her dream as a reporter, she so wanted to get a job as a reporter to stop depending on him financially,
but she just couldn't make the cut, not for the lack of trying that is. In the end she did get a job albeit it was as a cashier and shelve stacker in a 7/11 type store but she did work, just so she could ease the burden of her financial dependency on Dal Po.

(I will stop my rant now) But please don't spoil this great forum/thread/posting site with negatives about another well received and well liked drama...

I agree with Minihaha, I love Pinocchio too and In-Ha is fav character. I believe each drama is good in their own rights. Like you, for me, despite loving both dramas Healers does make me fangirl more than Pinocchio. But that''s not to say pinocchio isn't equally good. They're both great dramas in my opinion. Like really good ones amongst all the bad/overrated dramas. I find both especially refreshing to watch.

Just want to share the link of this interview of the cast that I find very interesting !
http://jichangwookkitchen.com/2014/12/17/drama-press-meet-with-the-cast-of-healer/

some excerpts that make me smile :) :

Ji Chang Wook said: “Actually, the character Healer is also very handsome in daily life, but I’m not that handsome on normal days. I’m not so serious or handsome like Healer. I’m usually more similar to Park Bong Su.”
...
and about the romance: “We intend to continue with the pink romance in the future. Maybe it will become slightly redder also” lol

Park Min Young said about her dancing and singing scene “I personally hope that Yoo Ji Tae and Ji Chang Wook will dance also. I went to see Ji Chang Wook’s musical before. He sings well, but his dancing is not very good, so I think it will be good if Ji Chang Wook were to show his dancing.” :p

Just some random thinking..

Do you think that kiss is jung hoo's first kiss? You know, he has been Healer for 8 years and doesn't like other people and no contact with other people also. Do you think he 's a virgin? Do i sound like a pervert?

That kiss was so perfectly done, romantic, gentle, sensual. A perfect first kiss. *still replaying that kiss*

I'm not sure of the name yet, but I'm pretty sure it's OST #4 so we have a little bit before it's released. OST #3 (by Kei, I think, blanking on the name) hasn't even been released yet. I want the song at the end too so hopefully they'll start releasing them soon!

Not sure if anyone notice. During e scene whereby YeongShin was in MoonHo's room feeling devasted thinking that Healer would have thought she is some delusional woman. It was a split screen with Healer on the left and YeongShin on left. Healer's lower lips actually trembled. Like so heart broken that his intentions where misunderstood.

Required fields are marked *

I noticed! What was great about that moment was that he hadn't even really acknowledged to himself yet the fact that his intentions really were different (than for getting money, that is, or for just finding out more about the mystery etc.), but in the moment she first found out it might be for those reasons and decided to end her crush, he just couldn't hide his disappointment.

Omg, so I can't believe I'm finding another thing to comment about. I promise, you guys, I have a life.

I think I remember some comments talking about how Young Shin saw Healer a little bit through her scarf and that the drama showed it right before she realized Moon-shik's 'spy' was in front of her. I totally just noticed now rewatching (I completely didn't before) and she really does get a pretty good glimpse of him! I really like that the drama lays out moments like that and gives great attention to each one :)

And I can't believe I still keep coming back to this thread just to check if there are any new comments. Trust me, your comments make me so happy. Please don't stop. Haha.

Someone in the soompi thread mentioned that too, and even provided a screenshot. If she could already see a an outline of his face (albeit a very blurry one) through that thick scarf, what more with the flimsy material of the hat she wore on Ep 8? Could this be a revelation?

0

reply

Required fields are marked *

Haha, well if you insist!

Hmm, for some reason, I actually don't think she saw him through her hat. Whenever I'm blindfolded, I tend to try and keep my eyes closed and the blindfold is really just there in case I accidentally open my eyes. The way I see it, the reason she saw him through her scarf was because she suddenly feared that he was gone and thus she instinctively opened her eyes right as he was leaving.

But the 'hat' scene is a bit different. There's a moment when she almost takes it off, but then makes the conscious decision not to. And that choice just made me believe that she had chosen to respect him keeping his identity a secret and was probably keeping her eyes closed. She was also a little bit more composed in the moment before the kiss (well, for someone who had almost died, that is) because she was convinced he was doing everything for money and she was trying to send him off without acting emotionally attached. That said, I do feel like him coming up to kiss her would have startled her enough to make her open her eyes, but perhaps she just sensed that this was her spiderman moment and that ruining the mystery would totally ruin it? LOL.

Oooh, well yes, that makes a lot of sense. Great reasoning! :D If indeed that is the case though, hats off (pun intended lol) to Young Shin for being able to resist to sneak a peek. I'm not sure I would've done the same thing. (Knowing me, I probably would rip my hat off in a heartbeat just to confirm if Healer's looks are as hot as his voice. Omahgad I'm such a loony.)

Lol another spiderman comment. I've been seeing it a lot lately for that kiss scene....can't help but have that spidey song stuck in my head now...

Spiderman, Spiderman Does whatever a spider can
Spins a web any size Catches thieves just like flies
Look out, here comes the Spiderman

Is he strong? Listen Bud He's got radioactive blood
Can he swing from a thread ? Take a look overhead
Hey, there! There goes the Spiderman

In the chill of the night At the scene of a crime
Like a streak of light He arrives just in time

"Spiderman, Spiderman
Friendly neighborhood, Spiderman
Wealth and fame, he ignores
Action is his reward
Look out, here comes the Spiderman...

Spiderman, Spiderman
Friendly neighborhood, Spiderman
Wealth and fame, he ignores
Action is his reward
To him, life's a great big bang up Whenever there's a hang up
You'll find the Spiderman!"

LOL I must've gone crazy now because of waiting for this drama to air~~~

Wow @Justdroppingby

0

@Chandler and Omomo
I can't believe that that part of the scene did not click with me, I just assumed that was her imagination! I'm sure she could see Healer alot better through her woolly hat. But can she make the connection with the men she currently knows, because each of Jung Hoo's persona makes it hard for her to make this connection, unless she puts, together the hugs, heart beats, pills, hands/fingers, huskys low tone and maybe lips/kiss to BS/Healer.

I'm with you both in stalking this site for more comments. and yes I do have a life too, just to prove it

Thanks Chandler, but I thought that visualizing part was in the real time for her ie that she had her eyes closed and was remembering her encounter, then she was slowly opening her eyes and the blurry figure was Moon Ho's spy hoobae, not the Healer.

Wow thanks JB for recaps, you do always a great job, when with your sharp mind bring to surface thing and twist that didn't pop out in our eyes!

Btw, I am very happy for PMY's excellence prize, and her with JCW best couple from KBS awards. She definitely deserved it, they totally proved their chemistry onscreen. I feel sorry for JCW, he really should've received own his own- he nails it every time when changing from Healer pro to Bong soo' clumpsiness.

Anyway, I want to put on the table this ine question. I didn't see this ep, so surely i wold miss some details, but since JB's recaps are so exaustive( and I apreciate this): if moon ho and jung hoo were both rushing to this building, and even Moon Ho is seen entering the building, are there chances for him to SEE Jung Hoo and Young Shin KISSING?

I mean, by this things would take a new turn in future. Like, we expect Healer will be uncovered sometime in the future, Moon Shik is already put on the track by the writer after his wife associated Jung hoo with his father.

I expect Healer would get his portion of beating( from SS guards- btw, why this name of all- you've heard about Hitler SS?) after he kicked a bit of an asses. I mean SS are more than willingly to kick his, and this happens in dramaland- good guys get threaten by the bad guys with their love interest gets beaten, after bad guys find out about good guy's weak point, of course.
Also, I see Young Shin threaten both by Moon Shin and Elder( through S Oh).
First one, I guess, got rid of her once, by (apparently) making her dead, cutting any strings between his wife and her ex-husband, obviously why. Now he can't afford to let them reunite, he'll do anything but letting his wife know he wanted her so badly for him that got rid of her daughter.
Secretary Oh and Elder would want to keep Moon Shik ~sane~ and up for the cause so they would attempt again to Young Shin's life.

Another thing that comes now in my mind is that once Moon Shik says to secr. Oh, i think, about Healer that he heard, or he knows about thar name long way earlier than he could think. Like he means- or I think he means- in his younger days. Could this imply possibly Jung Hoo's Teacher could have been Healer or some sort of it, and someday Moon Shik would do the connection?

And what I can guess it hasn't been revealed yet is that, surely Teacher' friends- all four of them- would've known of his sentence, they were all allive then, and it's quite possible Teacher and at least Moon Shik, would've met after. Before training Jung hoo, before traveling to that Pacific island.

Ok, let's put a stop. Too much fantasise, and a bit too late. Not sure if anyone still reads these comments, this episode was an air already few days, so...I am waiting for the next one! With great expectations!

Required fields are marked *

Me! Me! I STILL read the comments, believe me. Because I don't have a life. Lewl.

Moon Ho was well on his way inside the building by the time Jung Hoo and Young Shin are about the kiss, but it might take a while for him to navigate himself towards the rooftop because he'll check some other places first to make sure of Young Shin's safety. Plus, in the preview, we can see Moon Ho taking Young Shin in his arms, worried sick. So my guess is, Jung Hoo must have slipped away just in time before Moon Ho barges in. But hey it's K-Dramaland! 'Coincidentally' witnessing a kiss happens all the time. So who knows?

I don't think Healer will let himself get caught by the SS Guards easily. The way I see it, those goons don't seem too competent and are even gullible.

Yes, there was this theory that Healer was used as 1) Teacher's codename in the past or 2) a term that is related to their past dealings with the pirate radio station.

0

reply

Required fields are marked *

You've caught him at just the right moment!

Earlier, he was good and all, but still seemed boyish n a little green in terms of maturity in features. In all previous dramas, he was somewhat on the thin side too (at least to my eyes). Most recently, in Empress Ki, the range of his acting was in full display, but the Emperor's head gear in diff designs, some matched his features well, some didn't show them to full advantage. So I noticed his acting and loved him, but didn't fall Head over Heels bat-shit crazy in love w Ji Chang Wook the actor yet.

In an interview he did, he was asked what his dream was. He said that it was for ppl to know his name, cos when he was out, ppl recognized him, but always referred to him by his char's name, e.g. calling him Dong Hae, or Baek Dong Soo. He'd like ppl to call him Ji Chang Wook when they see him. I think on the one hand, it attested to his good acting, cos he became his char to his fans, but on the other hand, it also meant that it was his char that most ppl loved, not yet always the actor himself.

Well, all that changes w Healer. He hits the perfect balance between youthfulness and manhood. His face is neither too thin nor has too much baby-fat. One ounce more is too much. One ounce less is a tad thin. What I see in him now is "the prime of life" in perfection. He now exudes manliness. Perhaps it has to do with those 50cm shoulders that he developed not too long ago. Perhaps it's the black leather jacket, hi-tech glasses and work gear that make him so cool. Or all that leaping across roofs and buildings. And the repelling down shafts of hi-rises to save his love.

He is masculine but not too much so. Ppl have been saying that they see shades of Lee Min Ho, JJ, Changmin in him. LMH has sweet soft features, JJ has more angular ones. Both are extremely handsome of course, but then here is Ji Chang Wook at this moment in time showing the best combination of facial features, w just some softness, some angularity, cuteness n handsomeness in abundance. Notice that in over 400 comments, No one has shown up to say
"I never got his appeal" like sb said re Hyun Bin on the Jekel n Hyde thread.

I believe that Qn's on his acting ability were long put to rest b4 Healer. But once in a while, an actor has the good fortune to meet a role that is perfect for him or her, like Chong Song Yi was for JJY, n all his/her best qualities and features come out on display for the world to see. Healer (including BS n JH) is such a role for him. From here on, ppl will know him as Ji Chang Wook is for sure. That dream he shared in that interview has been realized.

Congratulations to him! And to all of us for having the good fortune to go along for the ride!

"He said that it was for ppl to know his name, cos when he was out, ppl recognized him, but always referred to him by his char’s name, e.g. calling him Dong Hae, or Baek Dong Soo. "- Oooo, this is super interesting. I just watched an interview of Han Groo's recently and she actually said the opposite. She wants people to become so fond of and connected to her characters that they begin to see her as that character (so Joo Jang-mi, etc.). I think this is her way of saying that she likes to play memorable characters and act them convincingly. Haha, I don't know, I just find it interesting that there can be such a different take, because, really, both viewpoints make sense.

0

@ Chandler
I'd like to be known by both names, you know, like people will say "There's Han Groo who played Jang Mi!". So the real person is not subsumed by the character and yet the character is not forgettable either.

0

@Growingbeautifully

I completely agree :) That does seem the best way to have it, doesn't it?

0

@Giegie,
My guess is that most of us had sb else for a KD-lover 4 weeks ago. Then Healer came on the scene, and ALL of us are now two-timing!! Hee hee hee.
Now that you mention Micky, let me confess that I'm a little bit jealous of Park Min Young. First she got my Micky (and yours); then she got Lee Min Ho; and now she has Ji Chang Wook! That's too much good fortune in one life time, wouldn't u say? As it is said often in KDs: Did she save her country in a past life?

0

@KDaddict
Ikr, such a lucky lady! She even dated LMH for months in real life.
"And ALL of us are now two-timing." LOL hell yes!

0

I just can't tear myself away from JCW's alluring eyes... oh my gosh he's awesome. Also, I get a sense that he's very genuine! Some celebrities behave in a certain manner in order to craft a certain image/ reputation of themselves, and it's a little off-putting at times. I appreciate those who genuinely reach out to the audience to form a connection. JCW I'll always support you!!!

Hi guys! I'm new to dramabeans but what I can say for sure is... I'm head over heels with Healer!!! (both the drama and the main lead) It's upsetting that I've to wait a few more days for the next ep with eng sub to be uploaded.

The drama is so gripping that it puts my emotions into a complete flux. Sometimes, I'd be giggling and squealing over Young Shin-Bong Soo interactions and at other times, I'd fear so much for Young Shin's safety and turn so furious at the rotten politicians. I like how the drama doesn't dissolve into a formulaic kind of mystery-romance. The mystery/ adventure part of the plot is quite unpredictable (and thus exciting) and the romance part is skillfully nuanced. That's why I was so surprised that Healer actually made his move on Young Shin! That kiss gosh!!

So anyway, this drama (+Empress Ki) made me a complete fan of Ji Chang Wook. He's so versatile, really. Excellent at doing action stunts, being assertive (Emperor Ta Hwan) and most of all, being a natural cutie pie. It's what makes him so charismatic and charming. I always feel that his silly antics in the drama are kind of what he is in real life as well haha.

I'd welcome any fangirl fanboy's response to my comments!

Oh my god... I'm so into Ji Chang Wook I'm rewatching the episode of Running Man on which he appeared!

I remember this episode of RM was particularly hilarious! Aish why do Korean dramas and variety shows always get me so hooked?

Required fields are marked *

That's the thing! They've just got entertainment down right plus great depth/colour in their cinematography! Compared to other productions, Korean shows just *look* soooo good.

They are also so self-deprecatingly funny and natural in their variety shows and so good humored about being dissed. A lot of accolades must also go to the subbers who put up most every ad lib comment and opinion of those on the show, most of which are hilarious, especially when teamed with their expressions. :)

I agree! They put so much thought into details that are often overlooked! Camera angle, lighting, clothes etc! One Korean film that really impressed me was Into the White Night (starring Son Ye Jin the gorgeous actress, among others). I felt like it contained a lot of nuances and subtleties that deserved to be interpreted on a deeper level.

And certainly, Korean variety shows! The Return of Superman, RM, 2 days 1 night... they're plain hilarious and cute

Thank you so much for the recap Javabeans! I am traveling and there is no way that I would be able to stream the show, and I don't think I could be gone for my whole trip not knowing what is going on with this show!

I love the little moments when we really see who Jung-Hoo really is away from his work, or his undercover work. This has been a really well written show (and review!)

Love it!

For anyone interested in reading more of JCW on Running Man ep 21-212. Here's a blogger's thoughts on it with screencaps.

http://jichangwookkitchen.com/2014/09/10/variety-ji-chang-wook-makes-a-successful-first-appearance-on-running-man/#more-2047

One part of the article says this:

"The press praised Ji Chang Wook for being funny because of his innocence (or naivety) and clumsiness, calling him a ‘heodang’ (*heodang is an affectionate term that can be loosely translated as “empty-headed” and is a nickname of Lee Seunggi). Describing him as an “icon of innocence”, a Hankyung reporter found him funny because of his stark contrast to his team mate Lee Gwangsoo, who is the “icon of betrayal”."

After reading that and seeing pics of JCW on the show...I really think in real life he reminds me more of Bongsoo. He's such a cutie ppi and good news to girls - he doesn't have a set ideal type, he just likes a girl who he can realte to and get along well with. Someone who can share happy moments with him <3

Everyone who has ever watched an ep of Running Man prbly know at least 2 things about the show:
1. You rip your opponents' name tags off;
2. You look for things, esp. flags w the "R" sign, in RM's signature blue n yellow.

And there was JCW being a guest on the show, being told to look for a flag w an "R" on it, but he had been running around looking for sthg w an egg on it, cos "R" sounded like "egg" in Korean! He even said to KS that he had ran pass that flag a few times! KS could only look at JCW in bewilderment. If that's not Heodang, I don't know what is. Calling it "innocence" is being kind or polite. That act of being dense and the motion sickness after being tossed in that game machine make him seem a lot like Bong Soo.

However, if you see him in interviews, he actually conducts himself really well. His answers are diplomatic, funny, n reveal just enough but not too much. He also said he always came within 5th of his class until he heard that Film n acting major in univ doesn't pay attn to scholastic results. I see him as sb w a good head on his shoulders. Whatever he is, I just want to have his babies, all of them!???

@ KDaddict
LOLOL!!! I just got back after putting what is supposed to be dinner into the oven and what do I see... a question on what is growing and beautifully too. :)

The short answer? Me ... You ... I wish Everyone.

It's a name I chose because I want to keep growing no matter how old I am. Beside growing older, rounder, ahem pear-ier (ok, ok, pear shaped) ....as far as the eyes see, on the inside, I believe we all can and I can keep growing too. We are beautiful people no matter how we look on the outside ... and we can choose to keep growing more beautiful, and beautifully on the inside. :)

0

Thanks for the explanation. What a good idea. I thought you were pregnant, so I wanted to send good wishes for your baby to grow beautifully in you. But then your inner self and ours growing beautifully inside each of us is an equally wonderful thing!

0

@ KDaddict
That is actually sweet of you. My babies/kids have, I'm glad to say, grown quite beautifully :) but thanks for the thought.

What I hope this screen name suggests is that even in the midst of what seems like frivolous fun in drama watching, fangirling, commenting, etc... we do and can continue to keep growing better in as many ways as we can ... more patient, more considerate, more enlightened, more at peace. ... So GB everyone!! :)

0

How about the fact that LKS had to give him impromptu lessons to lie, lol. "But we don't have 7", HA! KS's incredulous reaction had me ROFLing. Later him listening intently was adorbs! On the bright side, he catches on very quickly... I think the RM world can be a bit crazy for those making their variety debut... he did aiiiiighttt!!

I have to admit, over this drama, Healer, many of us appear to have very little life, LOL. It is so much fun and infectious to connect with others around the world who feel the same way, and who are ready and open to discuss it and express themselves. I have become more of an addict because of this show and the wonderful Ji Chang Wook. :)

@Growingbeautifully

Yup I just discovered this recently and had no idea a community like this existed! I'm so glad I found this site because I have looked around Google and saw other sites like Koalaplayground and Couchkimichi, but neither of those cites have as much comments, interactions, and in-depth analysis as much as this has. It's been an enjoyable additional reading for fangirls like me who not only gets a recappers thoughts on the drama, but the comments are equally just as analytic. I'm surprised at the amount of details a lot of people have picked up and are kind enough to share their thoughts on it. Seems like on this site, all beanies are never afraid to go all out in their level of details. I love reading how people tend to flesh out themes, dissect scenes, and put in references to other works.

Ahh so grateful for this amazing site!

I have been watching the whole episodes ( 1 - 8 ) for the nth time already and I could not just get enough. I think I have been losing my mind eversince I started loving the show. Hahaha! Superb storylines and superb actors. What is there to ask for more?. (not to mention that JCW's face is more than enough! Hahaha!) I'm crazy over JCW way more than any celebs in the past, even Lee Minho when he was in City Hunter! God this show is so much better than City Hunter in terms of the chemistry and romance between our OTP.

0
2
reply

Required fields are marked *

I agree and that's saying something because I LOVED the OTP in City Hunter and really liked both the lead characters. But in Healer there is just a little something more...I think it has to do with the character combination of CYS and SJH (and the fact that PMY's character has just a little more 'oooomph' here if you know what I mean).

I don't know if I'm explaining it right, but it's almost like in City Hunter I felt as if the characters were 'written' to fall in love with each other, but with Healer it feels as though the characters were just written independently to be themselves and to fit into the drama's world, and in that world they are just happening to find these little connections between them that continue to make their interest grow in a natural way. It just seems as though the match came out of no where and yet it works so well!

I mean this strictly in terms of the romantic aspects though and I'm not trying to take a dig at the characterization in City Hunter, which I thought was really great. I also found the romance wonderfully executed there, but it's almost as if the OTP is more 'obvious' (not in a bad way)? Ugh, I don't know if I'm capturing my meaning lol.

I also just find the process of the courtship in Healer to be far more exciting (and the courtship in City Hunter was, again, REALLY exciting) and it keeps surprising me in ways the CH romance didn't. I just can't wait for more!

KDaddict, how are you with yoga? Does it help with the curse?

0

reply

Required fields are marked *

Hee hee hee....yoga does help, cos you have to focus, n u have to remember to breath in breath out while u r at it. Those r the key words tho.."while u r at it". It helps for that long, n not too much longer.

However torturous this may be, there is nothing better than falling in love w him like this. Why? You get the butterflies in the stomach, the fluttering heart, the urge to talk about him all day, to think about him at night, and fantasise in between, all while floating on a cloud. But there is no worry of "Will he like me?" Will he not?" No fear of rejection, nor being lied to, nor being cheated on. No betrayal, no breakup, no heartbreak. So what can be better?

And it's all for free. It doesn't cost a penny. (Film tix, posters, n DVD sets optional.) Unless you r lucky enough to be able to attend a musical performance or fan-meeting, in which case I'd happily pawn my son to pay for it (if I had a son, i.e.). Sorry, I'm getting carried away, ain't I?

I would say it's both! Since that's the beauty of love... When you're young love is a wonderful new feeling and everything seems so great. And when you're older, love brings back those fresh momories to which you can cherish. Especially watching shows like this brings back those feelings of love (like having a crush on someone, falling for that person, being infatuated, then having your feelings returned by that same person). It takes us back into a journey of our younger days when we remember our first feeling of love :)

Anyway I just wanted to share something I read at Soompi forums:

I really need to give a shout-out here to the whole production team for Healer’s distinctive fighting style. They’ve managed to create an original and very unique style which suits JH as the legendary mercenary perfectly. Huge kudos to JCW and his stunt double! All those amazing jump, falls, vaults and rolls are awe-inspiring. JH’s abilities have already been many times compared to those of Superman and Spiderman, however, the first thing that came to my mind after seeing Healer for the first time - jumping over rooftops, with no obstacle too high or insurmountable for him and with ease and prowess that defied the laws of physics - was Prince of Persia. And then it hit me, that despite using those superhero stories as inspiration SJN never meant for JH to be one of them. He is no alien from far away planet or genetically altered wimp. Despite all his gravity-defying moves, there is nothing supernatural about them whatsoever. There is no actual flying or spider webs involved, behind what seems almost supernatural skills is actually a lot of hard work (how much sheer will-power, endurance and self-denial did it take for him reach this impossible level?! We already know that he has already suprassed his Teacher’s skill).

JH’s complex style is a combination of parkour and free running (which demands impressice physical skills), acrobatics combined with martial arts. It seems fitting that another name for the technique is L’Art du Déplacement (The Art of Movement) because JH is always on the move, never stopping. Not only is it a perfect preparation for his job but it’s also perfectly the activity you’d expect from someone as unconvetional and indepent as JH.

It requires a versatile range of skills, and it isn’t so much about brute force, rather than precision, speed and determination. Not only does the practice of parkour make a person incredibly agile and strong (it’s a full-body workout and you need great strength in arms to lift you, power in legs to jump and strong abdominals to support the legs and arms), the training also improves balance, awareness, concentration, coordination, creativity and endurance. Parkour is a a challenge which teaches its practitioners to dig deep within themself and pushes them both physically and mentally because it’s about facing many obstacles, which seem insurmountable, and overcoming them.

Therefore I’m dying to see his training days (SJN writer-nim, give as a series of amazing JH flashbacks of JH exercising, running over rooftops, sweating while shirtless,…) and how he arrived to this point, how did he become Healer, the legendary, unbeatable mercenary that he is. Let’s face it, Healer is epic but for that JH needed long strenuous training, practice and preparation. I’d love to see this process. I find JH the most intriguing character so far because even after 8 episodes, he remains the most mysterious. It’s not for the lack of...

If you have time, watch this real-life demonstration of parkour and free-running. It’s breathtaking and it feels like you are watching tens of Healers in the making.

Thanks Annabelle. That video of how the human body can move over large distances at speed without springs or wires is simply amazing. I need more time to watch it through to the end!!!

I LOL'd at this comment haha (from soompi):

I am rewatching ep 1 again :P And JH is actually a perverted guy

He is playing tennis but complaining the girl has too much coverage, so he will be the first to design the next uniforms:

1. bikini
2. belly dance
3. white laced maid's uniform
And...4. playboy uniform

Thats why he is so fascinated whenever YS is dancing LOL. I bet if YS tries one of the above uniforms, he will be declared as someone who cant speak and has a high tendency for stammering. I so want YS to wear option 3 and dance the belly dance in their cafe. Haha I can already see his face.

LOLOL!!

Actually he couldn't take his eyes off her when YS was dancing to the song her father chose (something about being thirsty?). I love that part, hilarious.

A young man w a healthy libido is not a pervert. He is not lusting after a real girl, but is only voicing his honest wish to his virtual tennis partner.

less that 20 hours to go, Yippe!!!

Thanks Beanies for your comments, I laughed my head off at some of the comments (since I left the thread 28 hours ago, only to comeback and it nearing 560 comments Wow!) which made my husband and children wonder at my current sanity! I've managed to watch RM epi with JCW, it was hilarious, I'd be really afraid and sick after those scary rides, I've no head for it, but the cast and guest did so well to not go green on that crazy vertical suspended in midair backwards-forward rollerride.

I'm like most of you, checking out all relevant sites such as Soompi, and CouchKimichi and Fan site JCWkitchen.
I can't get enough nor am I bored of finding info about the show and also JCW himself.... My husband thinks KD as made me a little crazy...I tell him he doesn't understand, it's because this drama is so addictively good. and JCW as Healer, BS and JH is amazing nd mesmerizing to watch, he is such a good actor, shame I never watched him in any other drama before Healer.

JCW said that he is scared when doing stunts, and thanks his stunt double for his hard work, he also jokes that he worries about the cord snapping, but at the end of the day he receives his pay so its all good.

Hi I saw that article down and I was meant to reply to your comment...but somehow it became a new comment below. Lol

I find him quite an honest guy since it doesn't seem like he ever lies and is sincere in his words.

From allkpop.com:

Actor Ji Chang Wook revealed that he uses a stunt double for the rough actions scenes on the KBS2TV drama 'Healer'. Ji Chang Wook sat down for an interview on the January 3rd broadcast of 'Entertainment Relay', where he said, "I have a body double for the difficult action scenes. Thanks, Kyung Seop," giving a shout out to the stuntman. He added, "Even if there's a wire, I'm always scared right before there's an action scene.

All these thoughts go through my mind, but I'm okay because of Kyung Seop." As for his lovey-dovey scenes with co-star Park Min Young, Ji Chang Wook commented, "Whenever they're a sweet scene, I feel warm and fuzzy. After reviewing the scene on the monitor, there are times I tell her, 'You look really pretty.'" Have you been watching 'Healer'?

Thanks for sharing this. And also at the KBS award ceremony, PMY says that her New Year's wish is to get a boyfriend. Perhaps she's trying to give or throw JCH a hint? ;)

If she is hinting and the guy's single she is very smart! You go girl - get ETTTTTT!!

The interviewer in this one cracks me up as she literally goes at him and gives him a hug! Girl after my own heart. http://youtu.be/HT7-Wreyv_A

(It's unsubbed... looks like @1:20 JCW cried at his final(?!) performance for his musical - AWW, this guy!)

At the start I believe she says noona missed you. After the clip of him shedding tears on stage she says "noona's here to comfort you(?)" while he totally plays dumb (Hahahahaaa!!) and then she goes for the hug leaving him embarrassed!! I LOVEEE it!! <3

Just saw it. Thanks @Kdramas so the link ^.^

I have to applaud the poor guy. He is actually scared of heights. He said so on RM ... and now to know that he was hanging by a wire (he said in some interview he was hanging for 2 days!) and frightened each time, but continued anyway ... and looked so cool while at it!!

What commitment to his art/work. Kudos to the poor dear.... my warm motherly feelings are all pouring out. ;)

It's already Monday...so I wonder if anyone is still reading this thread and if I should throw out my theory about Healer's email?

Anyhow, here goes...

The Möbius strip or Möbius band (pronounced UK: /ˈmɜːbiəs/ or US: /ˈmoʊbiəs/ in English, [ˈmøːbi̯ʊs] in German) (alternatively written Mobius or Moebius in English) is a surface with only one side and only one boundary component. The Möbius strip has the mathematical property of being non-orientable. It can be realized as a ruled surface. It was discovered independently by the German mathematicians August Ferdinand Möbius and Johann Benedict Listing in 1858.

There is the theory of the Moebius, a twist in the fabric of space where time becomes a loop. Loop where time becomes a. A loop where time becomes. Becomes a loop where time. Time becomes a loop where. Where time becomes a loop. So when we reach that point, whatever happened will happen again.

"A Möbius strip made with a piece of paper and tape. If an ant were to crawl along the length of this strip, it would return to its starting point having traversed the entire length of the strip (on both sides of the original paper) without ever crossing an edge."

Here's a PIC of the strip: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:M%C3%B6bius_strip.jpg

I think the email address has more to do with the loop, since YS said someone who tried to find where the email originated tracked it back to his own home.

Wow Daisy, thanks for the mathematical explanation. It never occurred to me to check what moebius meant, but wow! Such detailing in the drama. So yes, since the tracking of the received email brings a person back to his own email, the name is supremely apt.

Technically though, does anyone know if it is possible? Does someone with hacker skills have a clue how it can be done? :)

The team over at Viki are great though - they get it subbed really quickly! I tend to watch it along with Dramabeans recap, and by then, it's fully subbed. ^___^

I wish I could watch on Viki/dramafever etc, but unfortunately it doesn't work for anyone outside it's region/US. I live in Australia actually so the only sites that I go to are drama fire, dramacool, and myasiantv. And those sites, particularly dramafire, is the fastest in updating compared to other sites. But even so, the earliest subs they have is at least 12-24 hours after the raw episode has aired.

Sorry for the late response - I see you got the link though! Hope you had fun watching the interview!

Ah I'm pretty sure you can watch Healer via Viki if you're living in Australia. I'm accessing it here from the UK. I know there's a two week delay for those living in the US though, which is a bummer, but as you've rightly pointed out, there are plenty of other sites which upload the eps quickly!

I only discovered Drama fire a month back - it's brilliant! I noticed the site has been down for the past couple of days though, hope that's only temporary though!! Eeek!

Kudos and huge thanks to the subbing team at Viki.

I've noticed that subbing has become faster as the episodes progresses, like ep 8 was way faster than when the show first started; or is it just me?

I started watching from ep 1, loved the show from the word go, followed the explosion of love for JCW ignited by the elevator rescue and roof-top snowing kiss scene.

And for all that, I have the Viki subbers to thank for. I who speak no Korean even if it's to buy me a bowl of ramyun should I be air dropped over Seoul today. :-D

Thank again, Viki subbers!

@ Daisy

I'm able to surf Viki and I'm not in the US.

I browse on Chrome, with the extension Hola installed. With it, I can make it appear as if I'm surfing from a European country, not from where I'm actually am.

For Healer specifically, I believe you shouldn't be surfing from US, for there's a licensing condition that Viki can stream it in the US only after two weeks of the original broadcast. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Consider the workaround? :-)

LOL I've just watched his interview with KBS entertainment, and it's hilarious. I find it so surreal how he's totally unlike Healer, and more like his character Bonsookie. Damn, he's got me sold playing straight faced Healer, with his dry wit an all. He's all bashful is real life ha!
