Kim Joo-hyuk and Sohn Ye-jin to reunite on big screen

Sohn Ye-jin (Shark) ended up turning down the fusion historical drama The King’s Face in favor of a movie, and has now confirmed that she’ll be starring in the thriller House Full of Happiness. And because not even one project in film and television this year can be reunion-less, Kim Joo-hyuk (Gu-am Heo Jun) is up to play her leading man. They’ll be reuniting for the first time in six years since their 2008 romantic comedy My Wife Got Married.

House Full of Happiness is the latest from director Lee Kyung-mi of Crush and Blush, and was once courting Song Hye-gyo to headline. The film is about two politicians who are married to each other and about to enter the National Assembly. They’re on the cusp of the happy future they’ve been dreaming of, but then as the election draws near, they get swept up in a terrible incident.

It’s described as a political thriller about an ambitious politician husband, whose wife stubbornly and persistently tackles this “terrible incident” on her own, and in the process digs up a shocking truth. For now that description is neither here nor there until we know a little more about this incident — for instance, is the husband the villain? But at least we know the pairing is great. Sohn Ye-jin has signed on while Kim Joo-hyuk is considering favorably for now.

House Full of Happiness starts shooting in September for a release next year.

Too bad it's not a tv drama!

Is My Wife Got Married really a comedy too? About two years ago I was on a roll of watching everything SYJ is in, but this movie left me cold after fifteen minutes... Maybe I should give it a try again to really understand it.

Me too. I don't even think I made it a quarter of the way through. It didn't interest me. I have to say, I know SYJ is a talented actress but I don't always find myself caring about the characters she plays. I don't know what it is but I find her kind of bland, like she's not very different in each role other than what the character is doing. Not really the way she portrays the person. So I don't get excited about her projects unless the other cast are actors I love.

I wouldn't call it a solid comedic effort, personally. While I generally enjoyed the movie, I don't really think I laughed all that much.

I mostly just enjoyed it for the fact that it was about a polyamorous woman discovering her need for more than one partner. Though it was told almost entirely from her first husband's POV, that was basically the premise. My biggest gripe is probably that I wish it had been more equally split between the three people in the poly rather than just one.

Also, I liked the cast. Son Ye Jin and Joo Sang Wook are two of my favs and Kim Joo Hyuk is someone I've only seen a couple times but certainly enjoyed.

I'd say give it another go if you want but if it's not your kind of movie, it's not your kind of movie.

Glad she turned "The King's Face" down! Now I can hope that Seo In-gook will take the role in "The King's Face" and that they cast a really fitting (younger) actress. This movie seems to suit Sohn Ye-jin more.

I love SYJ! Can't wait to see her in this movie.

Which reminds me . . .does anyone know if her movie "Pirate" is available anywhere with English subs?

Better! She's play a real character instead of some guy's love interest this time.

Yeyyy. Can't wait for their reunion. They looked cute together on My Wife Got Married. Though to be honest it wasn't my favorite movie. But I did like the couple together.

This sounds very interesting. It reminds me of a BBC drama I watched a while ago - 'The Politician's Husband', starring David Tennant and Emily Watson. That drama was fantastic and there was this electric tension between the married couple which only grew and grew, drifting them further apart from one another as they drew closer to power... The slow burning destruction was both horrendous and captivating to watch and I would heartily recommend it to anyone who enjoys watching political dramas and well-crafted dramas by the Beeb.

If this is anything like that, I shall eagerly anticipate it. :)
