Triangle gets extended, Night Watchman premiere delayed

Sigh, it looks like we’ll have to wait even longer to see the ghostbusting summer sageuk The Records of a Night Watchman, because MBC’s current Monday-Tuesday drama Triangle is getting extended by two episodes. Why? That’s a very good question. According to MBC, Triangle has lots of story left to tell… to which I would ask Triangle what it couldn’t possibly accomplish in its already lengthy 24 episodes. It’s a mystery. The show will now be a total of 26 episodes, which pushes Night Watchman’s premiere to early August. To look on the bright side, the week delay gives the special-effects-heavy Night Watchman some extra prep time. Boy, I hope they use it wisely.

I was actually holding out on posting the early stills from the set of Night Watchman because I was waiting for Jung Il-woo in all his princely night watchman glory. Sadly, he’s not even shooting his portion of the drama yet because they’re working on Dad’s backstory. When I saw that he visited the set in modern clothes I was a little miffed, but it’s nothing a picture with his adorable child actor can’t fix. Yeah, I’m easy like that.

Dad Choi Won-young (Heirs) leads the early portion of the drama where he plays a king gifted (or cursed) with the ability to see ghosts, and leads an army deep into the mountains where he defeats a legendary serpent monster known as an imugi. (Imugis are said to be serpents that need to amass power to become dragons.) He’s a good father and a righteous king, but the curse slowly changes him for the worse to tragic consequences.

Yoon Tae-young (King’s Daughter Soo Baek-hyang) is the sword-wielding warrior in the stills, and he’ll become the leader of the night watchmen when Jung Il-woo’s bad boy prince joins the crew. And Blonde Zorro is Kim Sung-oh (Age of Feeling), who plays the psychic villain who worships the imugi and will try to harness its power to take over the world. I have to say, his are the stills that teeter on the brink for me — the others are badass, while Kim Sung-oh looks a little bit like he’s starring in an embarrassing music video. Prove me wrong, Show.

Triangle will complete its run on July 29, and Night Watchman now premieres August 4.

That's exactly what I was thinking! Bowie less Ziggy Stardust and more Goblin King! Seriously! That hair and outfit are nuts. I mean Kim Sung Oh can pull off nuts better than most, but still, show? How am I going to take you seriously with that?! When doing the over the top, super natural stuff - Don't be Faith! Don't be Faith! Be Arang and the Magistrate!

Hey, that "Night Watch" name is eternal . . . along with Russian movies and American comic books and fantasy novles, it was the name of a detachment of Star Fleet spy-craft I designed back in my fan-boy days. Pretty cool ships in that squadron, if I do say so myself.

which historical period is this set in? I much prefer what they're wearing here to the usual joseon garb, not a fan of the weird scholar hats, or is it just the fantasy element that allows them cooler costumes?

When I heard this news this morning...it made me think of two things: 1) Triangle is gonna drag its story out even longer (as if that was even freakin' possible), and 2) Night Watchmen needed more time.

Triangle is the only show I'm really keeping up with now, so I'm kinda glad that it got two more episodes. I wouldn't say I'm thrilled...because honestly, we don't need any more episodes where it's full of convos, planning and boring crap like ep17. But I'm glad there's a week more of my current go-to drama.

If just Kim Sung-oh's appearance is any proof, they damn well need that extra week :/ For something that's supposed to be a sageuk/fantasy genre-hybrid, the costuming personnel should definitely take note of the fact that there weren't any blonde Asians back then. Unless...maybe he's European? *shrugs*

Why is there this requirement for no weeks off between dramas? I understand "flow" between programs on the same night, but what would you really gain from having a new drama the very next week with no break? Throw in some movies for a week or two, continue promos for the next show, in the age of the internet it shouldn't be a problem? Why extend shows with mediocre ratings. Reminds me of King of Dramas, that got extended when it shouldn't have thus that ending sucked.

So long as yunho make a quick entrance and exit of watch episode. I would n't want to be anxious with each of his scene and over exaggerated tone of his voice. I want to enjoy the show and not having to see him go wrong with his next step

The blondie and his side kick looks too neo punk to be taken seriously! Even though it is a fantasy drama those coloured hairstyles are little too much. It is cruel to see his staff with a dead snake twisted like that! I bet the snake will come to life at some point.

I love the attire Jung Il Woo is wearing with the mask on. The impression looks very handsome and dreamy!
Also Jung Il Woo looks like his previous self. He's got his cheeks back! I LOVE it! Before that he was looking just too skinny esp. 49 days onwards even though I LOVED him in 49 days. He looks much better and happy when he is healthy looking.
The premise looks odd and interesting and I hope for his sake, it turns out well.
