Idols bunk together in boardinghouse sitcom
by javabeans
Everything old is new again: MBC Every1 (a cable channel) is looking to revive the success of 1990s hit sitcom Three Men, Three Women (itself borrowed from the American Friends, sort of), which was a popular sitcom that notably starred a young Song Seung-heon back before he was a superstar. That show was centered around college students boarding in the same house and dealing with everyday foibles and lovelines, and had a lo-fi charm in spite of being rather rough around the edges. (It was one of the first sitcoms that Korea produced, and they were still working their way around the form.)
Taking Three Men, Three Women as its template, a new sitcom called Boardinghouse No. 24 is in the works, and has lined up some idol stars to headline: ZE:A’s Kim Dong-joon (Mandate of Heaven, Girl K), Jewelry’s Park Se-mi, VIXX’s Ken, and Rainbow’s Jo Hyun-young.
To follow the Three Men format, Boardinghouse No. 24 will have six main cast members, two of whom have yet to be cast. As you can probably deduce, the conceit is pretty simple—idols living in a boardinghouse together—which we’ve seen before in several shows, such as the Nonstop series and also Vampire Idol. It’s hard to tell whether this comedy will be worth watching based on the little information we’re given, but I do have a soft spot for campus-set shows that deal with small, cute, slice-of-life encounters and conflicts. I was sad when Nonstop went off the air, and feel like they really could have kept going for yeaaaaars more, especially since each season featured a new cast of fresh faces. (And the Nonstop alumni list is pretty impressive, with actors like Jo In-sung, Hyun Bin, Lee Bo-young, Jang Geun-seok, Jo Han-seon, Han Ye-seul, and Lee Yoon-ji among its ranks.)
It probably isn’t realistic to expect Boardinghouse No. 24 to become the next Three Men, Three Women despite the buzzwords, but if you’re up for a low-key sitcom featuring some idols, maybe this will be something to check out. It airs once a week beginning in August, and will have 12 episodes total.

I know this is not the place to mention this, so my apologies to everyone ........ but for the last two days I either cannot access the Dramabeans website and when I do, like right now, I can be on the site for a total of about 3 minutes then it knocks me off the site. *sniff*
What's weird is that it's only happening here, as I can surf around the net and I'm fine elsewhere. Just thought I'd mention this little matter, in case some site maintenance is being done, because I don't want to miss you guys!
Thanks everyone and my sincere apologies to all for commenting about this here.

I've had a similar problem in the past (not on this site). The culprit was one of my browser plugins/addons, so you might try checking yours.

I have had the same issue. It automatically redirects to some advertisement page after a while. I have noticed this in the past week. I think it happens when my mouse pointer hovers over an ad on the right and it probably has some re-direct built in for mouse-overs. Did you recently change how the advertisement is done on the page?

This is the link that it takes me to. It does not happen on the main page but on individual blog entries.

Some folks were talking about it being related to sitemeter which is used on dramabeans.
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/unwanted-redirection-to-ad-site
Now I recall that I recently went to the sitemeter website to look at dramabeans statistics last week.
korfan, did you go to sitemeter recently on the right panel?

The Nonstop series literally had about 80% of the industry either starring or guesting in it. I was tempted to see it for the star power alone, even if I never really found it online.
Sit-coms aren't really my thing but I think it should be produced more since it's popular in it's own right. The recent potato sit-com with YJG had a lot of buzz. It can also help launch a few careers.

The days of Nonstop!!!!
It had SO many people either starring in it or guesting and I loved that it not just actors/actresses but also a fair amount of singers (such as Tablo, Andy, Minwoo, Junjin, MC Mong etc) in it as well.
It'll be interesting to see how this new sitcom fares..

Do they cast only idols in this show? I never know the other idols, but ZE:A Dong Joon is pretty bad in Mandate of Heaven.
Anyway let's just give hope, since it's only sitcom. Who knows it will be popular like High Kick and it's set on campus definitely is different idea than standard highschool in dramaland.
