Who wants a second helping of Let’s Eat?

Cable network tvN does, apparently. Producers of last year’s successful foodgasmic romantic comedy series Let’s Eat are reportedly working on a second season for early next year. It’s good news, though my excitement level will be considerably higher or lower depending largely on a factor that remains undecided: whether or not the original cast will be returning for an actual Season 2 that continues the story from where we left off. If we’re looking at a continuation of Lee Soo-kyung and Yoon Doo-joon’s wacky foodie adventures, I’m in. If we’re going to re-do the same shtick with a new cast, I’m going to need some convincing to get onboard.

The 16-episode series aired once a week from November of last year until March, which gave it the strange feeling of being a much longer series than it actually was. It was admittedly not quite the seamless melding of food commercial, romantic comedy, serial killer mystery, and sitcom-style neighbor hijinks that it set out to be (arguably there IS no seamless melding of those things), but it had this strange charm, driven mostly by its cast of delightfully quirky characters. This is primarily why I’d care a lot more if the series were to go the multi-season route rather than entertain the spinoff idea.

There are now a handful of examples in either case, of cable shows that have recreated its premise with a new cast (Answer Me 1994, I Need Romance), or ones that have continued their narratives in subsequent seasons (Vampire Prosecutor, God’s Quiz). The writer and PD team behind Let’s Eat come from the comedy series Rude Miss Young-ae, which is currently in its 13th season. I’m going to count that as one more reason to hope that they don’t shy away from courting the original cast for Let’s Eat Moar.

The drama is being prepped for an early 2015 broadcast, and we’ll have to wait and see if they court Lee Soo-kyung, Yoon Doo-joon, Yoon So-hee, Shim Hyung-tak, and the rest of the gang for a reunion. Just don’t forget Vara-sshi!

It seemed as though the cast really enjoyed working together.

Lee Soo-kyung eyes sparkled and Yoon Doo-joon, when he smiled, it seemed sincere.

I would die of happiness if this second season actually comes to life, preferably with the same cast <3 This drama was my fave hang-out show and happy place for weeks and I loved it (minus the wtf faux thriller aspect but I just erase that part of my mind lol).

Another Shin/Lee show was announced yesterday, and now I get the second season of Let's Eat? TvN stahp please I might have to dramatically kiss you.

I did enjoy this drama but the one-episode-a-week schedule made it seem sooooooo looooooooong.

By the time the last few episodes aired my enthusiasm was nill and I couldn't remember why I liked it in the first place.

Please let this second season air the regular 2 episodes a week!

Don't need the murder mystery, but just all the food fun. They can develop the relationship of Soo-Kyung and Dae-young, and the friendship with Jin-yi.

Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I am definitely up for this! This is the best drama news I've heard in awhile. I loved Let's Eat and looked forward to each new episode (and the food porn).

I wouldn't necessarily have a problem if they followed a new cast of characters as long as the new ones were as quirky and endearing as the original cast. I'd love to see more of the original cast too but I wonder how they'd continue the story. Hopefully without including another stalker or murder mystery...I also thought that they wrapped things up quite well and I wouldn't want them to mar the awesomeness of the first season with a subpar season with the same cast. Hm.

But I'm still tentatively excited. :D

And ditto on all cast returning. I want to see more of all of their stories, including but not limited to those who had lovelines or the potential for them.

Plus two new people - love interests for each of the lawyers.

Love Yoon Do Joon and I'm not even a B2ST fan! I thought he was only an actor when I first saw Let's Eat, but he's turning out to be one of those rare idol-turn-actor. So excited for him!

tvN is really making seasons a thing in Korea aren't they? We've had very occasional ones in the big 3, but lately they've been popularizing season-format dramas a lot.

I haven't seen the first one, but heard great things about it. I'll give it a try one of these days when that to-watch list shortens a little.

If they really want to do that 1 episode per week thing they should tighten up the plot and make the season shorter. I was so excited about new episodes at the beginning then I got tired of waiting and just stopped watching it... I really should go finish this series because I did like it.

I heart this shoowww!!!! Best k sitcom evarrr!!! Foodshow with witty and original dialogues and characters. I do hope they bring back the casts from 1st season: lawyer Oh!!! That scene @ karaoke with 'troublemaker' background song omglololols...

Yes absolutely to another season with the same cast. Loved this show as it was airing, even though some episodes seemed to have nothing happening...

Which brings me to my next request: Same cast, second season, and please for the love of feeding the viewing audience's addiction and the sake of a tighter story, make it twice a week! 16 episodes is just fine, I don't need the episodes to be longer, just make it twice a week!

This show stole my heart, I loved everything about it, the characters, the food and that hilarious song they played when they were eating.

Yoon Doo Joon was a revelation!!! At first I thought he was a seasoned actor and not a idol actor, seriously loved his character.

And the overall tone of the ddramawas beautiful as well, would be estatic if they did a new season!!

This is one of the few shows that I really felt a loss when it was over. I really missed this group of people partly I think because they didn't make any one of them into a crazy second lead, letting them all have some dignity.

Cool news! I hope they keep the same cast!! Just add some new characters.
The main cast was very likable and dorky.
Shim Hyung Tak was wonderful. I really want him to find a new love. ^-^

I liked seeing the different types of Korean foods too since I'm not familiar with them.

The rom-com parts were the best. They didn't execute the mystery/thriller that well. If they try that again, I hope they do a better job.

ME!! Yes yes yes!! Haha I was thinking about how I missed this drama while checking out that new Taiwanese drama with Puff Guo that's supposed to be about chefs (sadly not much food).

This is the kinda drama that gave me warm fuzzy feelings when I watched it. Didn't have to have too much drama or be insanely funny, it was jug right ^^

I hope this season thing is not permanent. The beauty of K-dramas is that they are complete; not endless seasons and spin-offs. I would hate it if Korean showrunners were catching on to the idea of doing multi-season series. Just give me a complete story in one run. That's it.

Just love the refreshing feeling I got whenever I watched this show. The characters are all beautiful and yummy in what the're doing. WhatI hate the nmost from this show is actually the thing I love the most! YUMMY FOOD! DONT CARE NO DIET! FAT COME TO MAMA. Lol

I would love to have another season of Let's Eat! It would definitely have to have the 3 main leads again. (Four if you include Barasshi!) I definitely want to watch more Yoon Do Joon.
The attorneys, I could live with a few cameos. It seems like the writers pretty much wrote around the looks issue with Attorney Oh, and any more of that would be beating a dead horse. But I have to hand it to the actress, she made the most of it! Or maybe get her an impossibly good-looking boyfriend who loves her, and she'd be convinced there's another one out there even better than him. And we could watch the other attorney become a huge playboy.

Yay yay yay for another season of Let's Eat! Please retain the same cast esp Barashi :) and a continuation of the story after that. I want to learn more of the lesser known and delicious Korean food that they eat so sensually/deliciously/grossly. Always feel hungry while watching them eat (yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment lol).

OMG OMG OMG YES. If it means the cast is returning, because those characters are so memorable and I was NOT ready for it to be over when it ended. AND this time we won't be bogged down with the random mystery angle, and the leads already together!

I'm not sure what the purpose of it would be, but I think it's smaller moments were its charm anyway and it allows for the second leads to get some romance. I also think that Lee Soo-Kyung and Yoon Do-Joon's relationship is definitely one that would be interesting to watch unfold because they are quite an unconventional couple and they only just got together at the end. Hopefully, if they do do another season, they won't feel the need to pull them apart and put them back together because I don't think it's necessary for a show like this one.
