You’re All Surrounded’s comic book teaser

Whee, I can’t wait for You’re All Surrounded to start, not only because of the cast, but because I could use some comedy right about now. I just hope that this show’s idea of funny cops isn’t necessarily always going to be buffoon cops, because, well, I lived through Level 7 Civil Servant. But the first teaser for the show looks good–it’s stylized and comic-booky, which is promising. I know, the show won’t look like this, but I like the tone it sets.

The upcoming SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama is about a foursome of rookie cops led by Lee Seung-gi (Gu Family Book) and Go Ara (Answer Me 1994), and their team leader in the violent crimes unit who becomes their reluctant, shouty mother hen. That’d be Cha Seung-won (Best Love), of course, who is so good at both hilarious and badass that I can’t even pick which version of him is better. Wait, no I take that back — nothing beats funny Cha Seung-won.

The teaser introduces the rookie cops as “immature, hot-blooded youth” who have “not once in their lives dreamt of becoming detectives.” Cue reckless car accidents, hapless arrests, and one pissed-off team leader: “Gangnam is now a disaster zone.” I’m pretty sure they hit the boss’s car, which is officially the worst way to start your first job.

Ahn Jae-hyun (You From Another Star) and Park Jung-min (Bleak Night) round out the foursome, and the drama will be helmed by the PD of History of the Salaryman and the writer of Ojakkyo Brothers. Just three more weeks to go! Why does that feel like foreverrrrrrr.

You’re All Surrounded premieres April 30.

I believe the writer of Ojakgyo Brothers will bring out the melo/heart in this drama. I believe in her writing :-) :-).

I agree- this screenwriter is really good at exploring interpersonal relationships, and can write a lot of moving lines (as long as the actor/actress can express it well) I saw his/her work in Br Strong, Geum-Soon, which is all about relationships between people, and understanding different sides of the story. But I don't distinctly recall that much comedy/humor. I mean, there was a little, just enough, but humor wasn't a big part of the story. So I'm really curious what the screenwriter will do, what kind of comedy he/she can write :)

'Good script need a good PD and of course a good actor/actress.

I love all the cast and I hope it will show more depth and layer especially in Puppy Seungi's character. I want him to do well before he left for military duty. Oooofff.

You bet i'm going to watch this! However i've been burned by good casts before so i shall just be cautiously optimistic. I seem to watch a lot of seung gi dramas (with good reason ha) and i generally have enjoyed all (except for the latter half of gu family book - but i blame the writer!). Hopefully this is a quality drama with a good writer behind it, cheeers!

Yes, this project has a really good writer. One of his first smash hits was Be Strong, Geum Soon (I recommend watch it) The writing was really great, great pacing and great ending. In fact, rarely have I seen such a well-paced drama. Nothing was rushed, everything worth exploring was explored in terms of interpersonal relationships. The writer is really good at crafting a story with a good ending that is satisfying and not cheesy. Just perfect. This is what I remember from watching Be Strong, Geum Soon, which was so popular that it got ratings of 30-40% I believe~ (might want to check wikipedia to confirm)

And to add to that, we have the PD of History of a Salaryman who consistently brings quality. With the writer-PD pair and the lovely cast, I think we're in for a good ride.

And if she also wrote Ojakgyo Brothers, then that has to be longest drama I've ever seen without thinking that the writers were just spinning their wheels. Pretty well paced for a 58 episode drama.

I like this cast, but the premise doesn't seem that exciting, so I'm going to wait and see what the first episodes will be like - it just looks a bit random and chaotic right now. But LSG does have a decent eye for stories, and I hope this is another one.

I almost can't recognize Go Ara on glasses.
Regarding comic book feel, I don't mind if the drama use it like in Flower Boy Next Door. I do miss comedy too because all dramas now are either melo or thriller

Yaaay, my favourite Hot Ahjussi and Cute Puppy, plus my lovely Na-Jung!!! So excited for the premiere - it looks like a hoot!

A veteran actor.
A proven actor.
And an upcoming one.

All with perfect comedy timing. With a redeemed Go Ara.

I never understood the hype and excitement/obsession over Heirs but I get it now! This is my heirs. I can't wait to see them faces on my screen in three weeks. So effing excited that I could burst a vein!!

I predict it'll be the usual superiority complexes of the various fandoms, particularly cha seung won and LSG. LSG fans are pretty overprotective and can't stand it when he gets criticised or isn't #1.

I can't wait for this drama, even if it means seeing Seunggi's nasal flaring glory once again.

I'm loving the song choice. Metallica? That's fun and different. I wasn't sure what to expect from this, but I'm glad it's going the comedy route. Ojakgyo Brothers had some really hilarious moments and the romance was great too.

Seung-gi looks awesome. Like really hot instead of puppy. Hope it doesn't disappoint since the expectations are so high.

I remember watching Strong Heart when Seungi and Ho Dong still hosting it, Uee was one of the guest. She just finished Ojakkyo Brothers and Seungi was discussing about her kissing scene with Joo Won in the elevator and said that he like that scene want that kind of kiss (surprise) too.

Seung-gi was hilarious whenever he talked about kiss scenes (particularly when it's about himself because he turns into a tomato lol).

I loved OB. I still think Uee was the costar Joo Won had most chemistry with. I remember thinking she was already awesome in YB, but she definitely impressed the socks outa me in OB. Not that I don't like Go Ara but I suddenly wish she's doing this instead. I think she'd rock the badass cop and have some awesome chemsitry with Seung-gi. Hope they work together in a rom-com someday!

So far everything looks great from PD to writer to actors. Is asking to much to hoping some trifecta comedy drama who is warm, smart, and funny with a great delivery and pictures?
And I'm okay if they don't have a strong romance, but please have a bombastic hilarious bromance.

Really looking forward to this! My favorite ahjusshi Cha Seung Won is comedy gold :). Been having a Drama dry spell atm as nothing draws me in or I stopped watching halfway. The last good drama for me was Let's Eat. Hope this will be laugh out funny with lots of heart.

me too! I also discovered Let's Eat and fell in love with it too!!! *sigh* miss that drama, the mood, the feeling, the humor, the small cast, the super talented second leads... if you want to try another underrated drama, I recommend "shut up family" for a great blend of humor (wonderful humor) and romance (angst-y and sweet...the best kind, right?) there's more on the blog I created, it's linked to my name AAAA!!! people who enjoyed Let's Eat are the type who aren't led by big name, popular drama, but are drawn instead to quality. that's what I believe ;)

I really like Cha already, of course from City Hall and Best Love. LSG seems watchable too, from his appearance in Grandpas Over Flowers. But... all that's missing is my favorite actor, Kang Ji Hwan (sobs) Everyone says Cha and LSG have great chemistry, but nobody thought of pairing up Cha with Kang Ji Hwan? Seriously, these two will have an epic bromance if given the chance! If you've seen Kang Ji Hwan act in dramas like Incarnation of Money, you'll get the feeling that you're watching a younger version of Cha. They have similar acting styles, both are extremely theatrical and charismatic. They could play brothers!!!

If I was the PD or the writer, I'd be sweating bullets coz anything that goes wrong with this drama would be on their end since this cast is just too awesome.
