Character posters and second teaser for Full Sun
by girlfriday
Full Sun will be replacing Prime Minister and I in a few weeks, taking KBS’s Monday-Tuesday timeslot to high melo territory with con men, jewel thieves, murders, and forbidden loves. Yoon Kye-sang stars as the son of a con man who lived a transient life, taught to be ready to pack up and move with thirty minutes’ notice no matter where he was at all times. His sole dream was to live a normal boring life like everyone else in the world, and prepared to take the foreign civil service exam to gain his freedom.
Of course fate has other plans, and in one fell swoop he’ll lose his father and be wrapped up in a man’s death that sends him to prison for five years in Thailand. He comes out and takes on a new identity and begins life as a con man just like his father. Han Ji-hye plays heiress to a jewel empire who was madly in love with fiancé Song Jong-ho (Mandate of Heaven), the man Yoon Kye-sang goes to prison for killing. She closes herself off after his death, but one day she’ll meet the hero who draws her out into the world, and they’ll fall in love not knowing the horrible truth.
Jo Jin-woong (Tree With Deep Roots) plays the con man Yoon Kye-sang’s father raised as a son. Dad taught him everything he knows, and Yoon Kye-sang thinks of him as his hyung. He’ll harbor a lifelong jealousy for Dad’s affection towards his real son though, as well as a one-sided love for Kim Yuri (Master’s Sun), an accomplice who works with the boys and eventually falls for Yoon Kye-sang.
The hero’s character posters pretty much sum it up: flowers in one hand, a gun in the other. His character description calls his love for the heroine his “punishment, and also his salvation.” She gives him a reason to live when he had all but given up, but of course that’s only the beginning of the story.
Full Sun premieres February 17.

This looks pretty good. I wonder why Thailand always has to be depicted as a place full of conmen and drug dealers though. Like in City Hunter and Time Between Dog & Wolf it's always Thailand that's the place for illegal activities.

Well, unfortunately Thailand does have a reputation because of prostitution, human trafficking, police corruption and organised crime. Statistically burglaries, assaults, violence and rapes are not too high compared to many countries but apparently it's one of the top destination for wanted criminals to escape to. An easy place to disappear to. But bad reputation aside Thailand, I assume Thailand is logistically a good filming location and also exotic enough foreign setting to give that extra something for a show.
Oh and I'm so excited for this. I kind of hate this already because of all the melo, but I just can't help myself when it comes to criminals with good hearts. Oh gosh.

and they are inexpensive. The production of Thailand when it comes to Advertising, is at par with the US. I think US freelancers Admen brought their equipments in Thailand to put up a firm that will cater to all Asian Market. If the TVC is not in-sync with the way the talent talk, there's a probability that it was shot in Thailand,

Sadly, Thailand's reputation as the brothel of Asia has been around for decades. That reputation was a central element in the musical 'Chess', described succinctly in the hit song 'One Night in Bangkok.' The hit anime 'Black Lagoon' is also set in a horribly corrupt city in Thailand, and I have read novels, short stories, and magazine articles over the years that reference it.
It's something that just is, and has been for a long while. A reputation like that is something that will take decades to overcome.

Gah, I was planning on watching this, but then found out that Song Jong Ho's character is going to be killed off...
Good thing is that I have too much dramas on my plate right now, so I couldn't commit my time to another one. But will def catch the first 2 episodes!

girlfriday, I've noticed this for a couple of weeks but I wasn't sure if it was a mistake: in the sidebar, I think the episode count for PM&I is a week behind - the coming week is finale week, episodes 16 and 17...so I think Full Sun is meant to start next week?

I am thinking of committing myself to this drama and the new KBS 2 weekend drama after The Wang Family - Wonderful Days. (Love traditional family dramas)
I hope everything works well for these 2 dramas :)

I always find it very hard to believe that a person has never seen the face of a person who killed their close one. I mean there is media, trial... you would be shown the picture maybe to ask if you have seen the guy....

AWW its Moo-Hyul from Tree with Deep Roots! I love him. Just saw him in My Love, My Family and he's so adorable in it! I'm guessing he'll be a lot different in this. Damn, so sexy.

Also love all the leads in this! Excited to see Kim Yuri in a badass role after she was so endearing in Master's Sun.
Also excited because this doesn't just seem like a melodrama, but an action-thriller also.

I like Kim Yuri, as far as I am concerned, she and Kang Candy were the most interesting part of Master's Sun, everything else just felt meh. I don't know why, but I'm getting Secret vibes from the show. But I loves me some Yoon Kye-sang, so I'm going to watch this for him and her.

I'm torn with this one. On one hand, I like the cast and I think it could make an okay show. On the other hand, it might just end up like That Winter The Wind Blows, and, urgh to that. I'm not sure if I want to take a punt on it or not.

Does anyone know why KBS has been doubling up on some of their series lately? The Wang Family, The Prime Minister and I, Melody of Love, and whatever else.
Did they commit to starting a few new dramas at a particular time, and then get caught in a time crunch when they realize they wouldn't be able to show the new ones without doubling up on the current ones?
They've done this before. It's a pretty shoddy way of running a network. :(

IDk I might be thinking to much but the whole I love him but he killed my first love, but maybe he really didnt, etc... hahahaha just saying hopes it as good but I been sad ever since Secret Love ended nothing keeps me hook
