Kisses and sleepovers in I Need Romance 3’s extended teaser

Yay, finally a teaser longer than thirty seconds. The third season of I Need Romance sets sail this coming Monday on tvN, and the six-minute highlight teaser below gives us a taste of the characters and chemistry to come. It’s probably more than needs to be teased at this point, in that it covers likely most of what we’ll see in the opening episodes (so maybe steer clear if you’re extra spoiler-phobic), but on the upside we get to see Kim So-yeon and Sung Joon get awfully close.

The teaser starts out with a parade of kisses and the advice that you have to kiss to know how you feel. Kim So-yeon narrates: “A woman knows the moment of the kiss: Soon, he will come close.” We see her being cool-headed in the workplace along with her team of best friends (Yoon Seung-ah, Park Hyo-joo, Park Yoo-hwan) and bragging in front of her sunbae Namgoong Min. But her antagonistic rivalry with Wang Ji-won is a different story entirely, making her petty and childish every time they cross paths.

Meanwhile Sung Joon returns to Korea after seventeen years abroad, and describes a woman he calls “Sing-Sing” as someone smart and innocent and kind in his memory. He calls the heroine asking if she remembers him (they grew up together as children) but she snaps that she doesn’t, except for the fact that he was an ugly baby. Ha. And then she refuses to let him crash at her place, demonstrating the sex noises he’d be hearing in the next room if he lived with her to scare him off.

She gets dumped by her latest boyfriend Alex and narrates: “I didn’t understand. There’s only ever one reason for goodbye–when love’s climax ends.” Her friends take her out clubbing post-breakup, oohing over the geeenius songwriter who’s DJ-ing that night, and it’s of course the hero using his stage name. There, without knowing he’s the kid she grew up with, she throws herself at him because she sees he’s with her rival. I’m cringing.

He finds out belatedly who she is and follows her, and she makes the heartbreaking drunken confession (to a stranger, she assumes): “You live life alone anyway. Even if I’m with you right now, I’m alone. Because I wasn’t born to be loved. Nobody loves me. But that’s okay.” Oof. Kim So-yeon, making me hurt in the six-minute teaser. It ends with her declaring that she’s once again entered the hell that is dating, and then Sung Joon leans in: “I begin with a kiss…” Mrawr.

The promos look good, but I really hope the episode are only 45 minutes. I found Answer Me 1994 and Basketball to be poorly paced compared to most of tvN's dramas, so I hope they go back to the 45 minute standard for their dramas.

OH LORD. Not the 90 minutes torture that were those R94 episodes. 45/60 minutes is more than fine.

Basketball had way deeper problems than just pacing tho.

Ooh, yay. Each update makes me more excited. Thanks for the teaser explanation. The friends look so fun! A;ready cringing over her rivalry. How is he able to go on all these cute dates with her when he's dating someone already...?

Hm, idk if it's just me but the cinematography looks different from the previous seasons. More HQ? Not that the previous ones looked bad but they looked kind of low budget compared to how glossy K-dramas usually are (more so Season 1) which I took in stride since they're cable dramas. Looks like TvN's continued success is seeing some financial rewards. Good for them. The camera-work seems different too, although I'm not versed enough in that stuff to say how.

I thought so, too. Compared to the first season, especially, this is filmed so much better. The lighting is warm and lush, and there is sophisticated use of color, too - I like how that bright orange color - which Kim So-yeon also wore for the press conference - was mirrored in both of their outfits (and her lipstick), at different times. This looks like it is going to be a joy to watch - on many levels!

I am sooooo going to watch this!!!!
For whatever strange reasons I love Kim So Yeon more when she's bratty and petty and childish and feminine more when she's badass and bloody.

If she could make Ma Hye Ri the least likable to audience then I say she's going to rock the I Need Romance franchise.
And Sung Joon. Oh. Sung. Joon.

Just the mention of your name makes me turned on already.

I was not going to watch this because I was not crazy about INR1 or 2, and I am not crazy about the male lead actors in this either. But after seeing this promo I may have to check it out for the female characters.

Puhahaha. The male voice @0'37 stating "J'ai besoin de romance" (I need romance in French) cracked me up ~ so random and unexpected, as much as "Pretty boy" translated into "Bel Ami" (poor Maupassant).

No doubt GF will watch this noona-donsgaeng pairing. ^^

I was surprised that Koreans love the relationships between older woman and younger guy and this type of drama is quite welcomed. I think it was trendy at one time but it seems it lasts quite long until now. Another cougar story. The pairing here is ok for the characters' ages, it is better than I Hear Your Voice. In I Hear Your Voice, the boy is 19 and the girl is 28 which is not realistic but the female lead looks a lot older than the male lead to me, she looks like his aunty. I don't know why people can accept that relationship while the boy is only 19, it is weird to me even I'm in Western world.

the 1st and 2nd season of INR didn't takes me in but the third season absolutely win my attentions.. love the lead pair and of course they both looks good together..the gap of their age a little bit big but they chemistry are undeniable when I see the preview and KSY roll her character well. meanwhile sung join look so cool and handsome..INR3 fighting!!
