Kim Hee-sun and Lee Seo-jin’s first shoots for Wonderful Season
by girlfriday
You know, I didn’t realize just how much I missed Seo-jinnie until he popped up at the end of the last Noonas Over Flowers episode to laugh at Seung-gi’s ineptitude, and I found myself squealing. Good thing we’re getting a double dose of him in the new year, with a new Grandpas Over Flowers trip coming up, and his new drama Wonderful Season from writer Lee Kyung-hee (Nice Guy, Will It Snow For Christmas).
The new family weekend drama stars Kim Hee-sun (Faith) and Lee Seo-jin (Kye Baek) as first loves who reunite after fourteen years apart, but mostly I’m excited because I think they’ll be a good drama pairing (or maybe I’m blinded because they’re both so beautiful).
Lee Seo-jin plays the middle child of the main family with hyung Ryu Seung-soo (Empire of Gold) and little bro Taecyeon (Who Are You). He’s a geeeenius with an aloof kind of charisma, who left home to become a successful prosecutor in Seoul. Everything about that works so well for Lee Seo-jin.
Years later he returns to his small-town home, and the story is all about reconnecting with your roots and re-learning the value of neighborly warmth in the countryside and the true meaning of family. I can see Lee Seo-jin being the cold city boy who did everything to leave his hometown turning his nose up at everything, only to be thawed by family. Well, that and his first love. Can’t forget that.
Wonderful Season follows King’s Family and premieres February 22.

Ooh, look at the pretty. Gosh, I haven't seen Lee Seo-jin in anything since Hon, which was aaaaages ago, but I can't say this drama catches my interest, though I am team defrost the human ice cube almost always.
... Also um, am I the only one who jumped back a little from the twin dead eyed smiles?? >.>

"Dead eyed smiles" . . . huh?
Is that the name of the latest K-horror movie? It would be pretty cool. Artificial people with artificial smiles in Gangnam, someone certain that the pretty dead-eyed people are slowly taking over Seoul, but no where to go for help, because Tokyo and Beijing are having the same mysterious plague, and only the leftover North Korean agents from Iris, Athena, Spy Myung Wol, etc., are available to help. . . .

I think I know which pic your talking about lol. I scrolled back up wondering what the hell you were talking about and BOOM... dead eyes. Like freaky twin dead eyes. I can't look at it. Once you see it you can't unsee it.

Ah, I follow you. I couldn't pick those two out of a crowd at a college dorm barbeque, so I looked right past them.
I'll just be tuning in to worship Kim Hee Sun and cheer for Lee Seo-jin, who was vivid enough in Kye Baek to make it stand out among other Sageuks even for a non-watcher like me.

I knew exactly who that comment referred to, LOL. Those eyes represent a veritable black hole of acting badness.

I love Seo Jinnie and really like Kim Hee Sun. And I can just FF through Teac and that horrible basketball girl, right? This one may be worth checking out just because of the main couple. Can't wait for the next Grandpa trip though. Nothing better then watching Seo Jinnie just be Seo Jinnie.

Kim Hee-sun is really puurrrty. I can definitely see someone still pining after her after fourteen years.

I still can't accept the fact that Lee Elijah and Taeyeon are in this drama after seeing their performances in Basketball and Who Are You.

The second to last photo is them clapping at the end of the initial script reading. A bit concerning that LSJ looks like he kinda wants to *headdesk*.

Looking forward for a good, warm weekend family drama from KBS.
I stop watching after the heartwarming, breezy plot Ojakkyo Brothers ended and I wish to have the same feeling watching weekend drama from KBS like Ojakkyo, Sons of Sol Pharmacy and Mom's Dead Upset :-)

Shame on me, but I've never actually seen a drama with Seo Jinnie so far, so I really want to...
And that Mamma Mia episode with Ryu Seung-soo was sooo funny, that alone makes me want to watch the drama, ahaha.

Are there any major dramas that are set in other parts of Korea rather than Seoul?

Without it being ironic? Not many, as near as I can tell.
That said, I think it was into the 70s and 80s before American cop shows started being set somewhere other than Los Angeles or New York.

Grrr, Lee Seo Jin. One of my first Kdrama crushes. The whole first loves reuniting thingy reminded me of the time I fell in lust with him watching "Pheonix" all those years ago~
Not a fan of family weekend dramas, but gosh darnit, LSJ is returning to dramaland!

There are a lot of beautiful actors in Kdramaland. But what is it about Seojinnie that gives him the power to actually make my heart flutter? It's just so ridiculous.

Kudos to those who actually finish the show

I really liked Ryu Seung-soo's character in Gold, and am looking forward to seeing him in this.
I fell in love with KHS in Faith and LSJ in GOF.

I can't see Jinnie as a prosecutor. He's always Mr. Gangster (in Lovers) to me.
That and Stressed Luggage Boy slash SNSD Fanboy.

Lee Seo Jin was literally my first male k-actor crush. My first actor Bias. In my first ever kdrama. Owner of my heart for all eternity (barring committing a horrendous crime).
I am now obligated to watch this even if I'm so incredibly wary of weekend dramas.
