Three Days lands slot on SBS’s schedule
by girlfriday
I suppose it’s more correct to say it re-landed the slot it already had and then lost, but at least this time both the studio and the producers have all their ducks in a row and aren’t contradicting each other? Upcoming action thriller drama Three Days was in a bit of a tailspin this past week when SBS suddenly announced it wasn’t going to make it on the February broadcast schedule as planned, but after a final round of negotiations, it’s officially back on track.
My question is how much money changed hands in the last five days, but I guess we’ll never know. The punchline in this whole behind-the-scenes drama is that Three Days is being produced by Golden Sum Pictures, aka the production house behind King of Dramas. Here we are joking What Would Anthony Do? while the real-life version is being played out by the people who brought us Anthony. Too much meta. Brain in danger of short-circuiting.
Anyway, I’m happy that the show is back on the road because I’ve been looking forward to it ever since the concept was announced in the spring. The condensed-time thriller follows the harrowing three days during which the president of Korea (Sohn Hyun-joo) suddenly disappears, and his elite Blue House bodyguard (Park Yoochun) is tasked with saving him. Helping him are a local police officer (Park Ha-sun), fellow Blue House guard (So Yi-hyun), and the chief presidential secretary (Yoon Je-moon).
Three Days will follow You From Another Star as originally planned, and air on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning in February. No more take-backs this time!

Holy god finally, because there have been rumors about the drama following this one, so this should've really been settled eons ago! I really hope the budget isn't decreased because I am totally up for a slick and action filled drama with lots of great effects.
Hopefully the start shooting soon; really want them to finish at least half the drama before live shooting catches up. Those usually ruin a lot of fast paced shows.

Finally. I'm so glad they re lands the slot. Since the drama looks very different from others, I really looking forward for this. Thankfully they solved the problem fast enough, or the cast could just drop the drama.

This kind of commentary is why I just love, love, love spending time here on Dramabeans!
And I for one was happy that there was some push and shove happening on the negotiations. One commenter said it may have had to do with international distribution rights. I hope so. It would be great to see established production companies get more aggressive about developing the value of their brand in international markets.

What a great punchline indeed. I feel so proud of King of Dramas. Long after it has ended, it still lives on in viewers' minds in such a great way that it never fails to bring a smile to my face. Love that Anthony Kim went beyond a mere character and became a living real-life entity (commenters are thanking him for saving the day! lmao). Reading these behind-the-scenes news makes my imagination go wild, wondering what Anthony did and how he became involved.

I read your comment when I was in a restaurant, sitting by myself when my husband was in the powder room. Your comment about Anthony went beyond a mere drama character really tugged at heartstrings that I actually teared up. My waiter came just at time with the bill and I can't describe that look on his face - for a second, I thought he was going to turn around with the bill :-)
Such is the power of your excellent comment and ever-endearing Anthony!

Good job SBS. I've been tuning in to this channel since April with it's lineup All About My Romance, IHYV, Master's Sun, Heirs, next week's YFAS, then this.
LOL at Golden Sum Pictures.

So, it's King of Dramas real-life version, right? Anthony must had his hands on this. I can imagine he negotiate with drama director, CP, etc while running around with his writer and actors to secure the slot

SBS has been killing that Wednesday-Thursday timeslot ever since IHYV, and looks set to continue if this is as good as it sounds (Heirs had some initial teething issues thanks to Secret dark-horsing its way to the top spot during its run but now we're firmly in the 20% range).

Dramabeans: Well, That's Dramatic. That's the headbar picture that came up when I clicked on this, and I had a good laugh at it because it kind of pokes fun at this whole thing. I wonder how much money did change hands? If any? A lot? Looking forward to this drama so much!

Son Hyun Joo as the president. I think this is his first time right. Park Ha Sun as the police officer is gonna be awesome. I like her character in previous drama.
