Three leading actresses and counting for Thrice Married Woman

I’ll be calling this drama Thrice Cast Heroine from now on, that is, IF they can actually get this one to stick. So far, things aren’t looking so good. Hit writer Kim Soo-hyun’s new weekend drama Thrice Married Woman is going through some serious drama before the drama, with conflicting reports that the third possible leading lady Kim Sa-rang (Secret Garden) may or may not be signing on to star, that none of the cast members are actually confirmed, and that the production will be delayed by at least two weeks at best.
The new SBS weekend drama about a mother and her two daughters is starting to gain a reputation as a troubled production, mostly because everyone is left wondering WHY exactly it can’t manage to secure a cast. Basically, when you play the game for too long, everyone starts wondering, How picky is too picky? The show has already cycled through two possible leading ladies from Han Ga-in to Song Ji-hyo, and now Kim Sa-rang is going through her obligatory round of headlines, from “She’s dropping it,” to “No no, she’s still considering!”
The latest stories keep her in the running, though they ALSO come with caveats from the production that leading men Ha Suk-jin and Jo Han-seon aren’t confirmed either. Is this drama going to have anyone in its cast? It turns out that the so-called early informal script reads were actually an audition process, and I’m getting the sense that they didn’t want to call it an audition, lest they hurt big stars’ feelings. In any case, it’s made for some seriously confused press releases.
I think Eom Ji-won and Song Chang-eui are the only members of the cast who are confirmed, but who knows when that’ll change. The drama has already had to delay its October premiere by two weeks, and is looking at possibly losing even more time. SBS, meanwhile, is working on getting a two-week extension for its current weekender Goddess of Marriage to fill the gap. I have no idea what they’re going to do if they need even more time.
If Thrice Married Woman ever secures a cast, it’ll premiere in October. Or November. Or Goddess of Marriage will just go on for eternity.

I read that sentence and wanted to cry. Seriously I'm counting down the episodes we have left... I don't know if I can handle 4 more.

MTE! I continue this drama solely for his character and his acting which are the only interesting things in this tale drama. I mainly watch just his scenes fast forward through the rest and not miss a damn thing.
I weep at potential extension. I have been counting the days to the end since ep 3 (and with the cheating bullshit that is about to take place been counting even harder) and my sanity cannot take more than what is now left.

I was actually really excited to see Chun Jung Myung again in a drama, and then its not happening.

To be honest, I was taken aback when they initially mentioned Han Ga In then Song Ji Hyo and Kim Sa Rang to a lesser extent, as the possible female lead. These ladies were never known as good or even average actress and knowing that this is a Kim Soo Hyun drama, they won't do. From what I've read, this writer is really known to be very picky with his actors and if they are not performing to her standards, she wouldn't hesitate to call their attention in front of everyone. I've read that even Kim Hae Sook was called out by her, and it's the great actress KIM HAE SOOK!!!!! But SBS will wait for this production, they won't drop it.
P.S. Goddess of Marriage doesn't need an extension, it's scraping by as it is.

Say whaaaat.
I know picky should be a given for the "best k-drama writer in south korea" (according to Anthony, even though i have yet to see any of her works), but you've got to be crazy to turn down Kim Hae Sook! I'll give the writer the benefit of the doubt and say Kim Hae Sook was probably not what she had in mind for a certain role, not that her skills are in any way lacking.

From what I've read, she kinda called out Kim Hae Sook during the script reading in front of the cameras in Childless Comfort. But I guess they're fine coz she still did the drama or she's used to it since she's done a lot of Kim Soo Hyun written-drama. It's just that if the writer wouldn't hesitate to correct a senior actress, who is known to produce great works and whom she has known for years, then I shudder to think what she'll do to these actress who are really underwhelming at best. And I don't see Han Ga In taking being dress down about her acting in public quietly.

Maybe it is time for them to rethink that whole 50 episode drama thing and come up with a new idea. Reading the Korean entertainment news sites, it seems that one reason they have so much trouble is that some actors do not want to commit to half a year of shooting for one single series, or have other things already lined up in the future.

He would use his charisma and shamelessness to make people sign those damn contracts.
We need a new meta drama with a sinking ship that can't keep his staff and a PD-nim who basically is a loser but will become a leader to solve the crisis.

I read from nate that Kim Soo Hyun has axed Han Gain and Kim Sarang from the drama because she didn't like their acting... I'm confused
I really like Kim's writing so I'm hoping this issue gets resolved soon. I need another weekend drama to watch with mr choi. He he he.

Not like they are newbies in that production: Use ego as an ally, not as an enemy. *Facepalm*.
I like that writer a lot but you just don't do your recruitment that way, like if you were selling meat at the market in the open (SBS, why are you allowing this?). As an actress, famous or not, talented or not, if I was treated like a disposable paper tissue I would tell the PD and writer to gently go and f*** themselves. Yo.
If they are so focused on the perfect casting (sidenote: perfection doesn't exist in this world), they should have started the consultations much sooner. Mind you, even actors and actresses have requirements too and if what they see in the script doesn't fit them, they will walk away. Compromises might be needed...

I don't mind Goddess of Marriage getting an extension... It is painful to watch no doubt because it is being as real as it can be about the marriages in the chaebol world and average world.
I think it is a terrific drama actually but probably has a smaller niche group of audience...
I mean teenagers and old ahjumas wouldn't like this drama.
Mainly twenty smth, 30s, 40s women, who can relate to this drama.
Bring on the extension, I will watch GoM no matter how painful it gets! I just love the main cast too much!

I still enjoy watching Goddess of Marriage only because there's Lee Sang Won. I hate that his character has become a little bit dull. Well, since they met during last weekend on the bridge, I hope things will become more interesting in future episodes.

As for Thrice Married Woman, I think the writer just want someone to play the characters well. I love Han Ga In, and I can't wait to see her future projects. To me, she so endearing. Her acting may not be the best, but you can say that about a lot of actresses too. She's not that bad.

I havent seen Kim Sa-rang in anything but secret garden. And I actually loved her there so much because her character had so much layers. I hope she signs up for this one - I like the writer.
Oh and on a totally random note - I'm wishing Yoon Sang Hyun also signs up. I lurved them in secret garden. My shipper heart would leap!

Dramas with sisters don't seem to be as popular as dramas with lots of brothers. But I haven't watched that many long ones anyway so I could be wrong.

*prays to drama god* please please let casting and production be confirmed and do not extend Goddess of Marriage. I weep and my sanity cannot handle an extension of that stale mess.
I only watch the show for Kim Ji Hoon (watch his scenes fast forward the rest) and even then the lord is still testing me. It needs to end on time cause I'm not sure my love for KJH runs that deep (it does but no need for the test and torture).

Well, why don't try someone else to come? There are still some potential actors to play. Maybe Yeon Jung Hoon, who has just finished his drama "I Summon You, Gold" which has 20% average rating, or try Lee Seon Kyun or Jin Goo. As for the women, maybe try Park Jin Hee, Eugene, or Kim Hyun Joo. (example only)
I Just don't know why the director and writer took long time for casting. Because current drama, Goddess of Marriage is just about 6-7 more episodes to go.
