Lee Min-ki set to challenge Kim Myung-min in Himalaya

Ooh, this is great news: Lee Min-ki (Chilling Romance, Temperature of Love) is reportedly finalizing casting details that would team him up with Kim Myung-min in the based-on-a-true-story mountain-climbing film Himalaya. That’s not a pairing I would have thought up, but now that I hear it I really want to see it happen.

The story is about a team of real-life mountain climbers who went on an expedition to climb Mt. Everest in 2004. The group was led by Eom Hong-gil, and when one of his younger teammates, Park Mu-taek, died during the expedition, Eom left his expedition in an effort to collect Park’s body.

Kim Myung-min is set to play the expedition leader, while Lee Min-ki would play one of the other expedition members who clashes with Kim. I’m guessing there’ll be some alpha-male conflicts when the leader wants to go after the body and the others oppose it, which prompt the leader to break from the group. Should make for a tense human drama, and these are two actors who can certainly ratchet up the intensity, equally capable of being hotheaded and frosty-cold, depending on the role. Can’t wait to see it.

Lee Min-ki is currently filming the movie Monster, in which he plays a serial killer, after which work will begin on Himalaya. Lee hasn’t signed the contract yet for Himalaya, but reports indicate that plans are likely to finalize. The movie plans to begin filming in October.

Lee Min-Ki! How can anyone not love this man?

Thanks for the movie update! I pretty much use you as my sole source of information these days. That and the Daily Show. I like my news with a hefty dose of humor.

I have no objections to this. Meaning I am really digging this. Yep, two guys I'm happy seeing. I still would have preferred a more charismatic villain though, if he will be the antagonist. Don't get me wrong, he has charisma, but he's just not in the same caliber as Kim and I would have chosen someone equally strong in presence and skills for that. Still, can't complain. Good enough choice and better than many other choices.

Sigh, so I guess no drama before military service. I guess I'll just have to take my Lee Min-ki in small doses.

Most celebs enlist when turn 29 (30 in Korean age), and next year will Minki and the rest of the 85ers' deadline.

that was just what I thought!
I've been hoping and hoping for a drama because his time for enlisting is running short and I'm suffering just to think that I won't get to see him regularly -_-

He doesn't do that many dramas anyway, so I'm not surprised.

man i love him but is there a reason he has only done films for the last 5 or so yrs (besides the guest role in shut up flower boy band) is he just another actor that jumped from dramas to films only?

I can see that films would be more attractive and a better career move than kdramas, and Min ki seems to have made that transition successfully. In a post a while back, someone suggested that gdragon might do the same if he would go the direction of acting, bypassing kdramas and going straight to film. I agree. I love them both!

From what I've heard about liveshoot sets - long hours, no sleep, racing the clock constantly - I can't blame anyone for ditching dramas in favor of movies. It sounds hellish.

I do miss him on the small screen, but I'm super interested in this movie now. Lee Min-ki and Kim Myung-min? Where do I sign up?

I read a while ago on soompi that he has health problems, osteoarthritis or something similar. Might make a drama difficult to get through.

If he has such health problems, he might not have to enlist.

Love them both. They could be fantastic together. Though the movie is not my cup of tea... unless it is about Anthony and his assistant at a filmset :--)

I'm just so happy to hear of Lee Min-ki. Lee Min-ki tied to a movie I was already excited to see. Clashing with Kim Myung-min. My screen will melt.

I really enjoy Lee Min-ki's onscreen. His face is bewitching -- so odd, yet beautiful. His performance in Nell's "The Day Before" is so good, too. Heartbreaking.

Oh gosh yeah! His appearance in that video clip made me want to cry it was so affecting and sad.....but sooooo good!

He is such an interesting and likeable actor, always seeming to choose interesting projects too!

Man he really keeps busy. I hate that it's so hard for me to watch Kmovies since that is all LMK does anymore. Kim Myung Min is also brilliant so this should be very good.

Well..is it an early chrismas? 'Cause. These days GB & GF seem to be spoiling us with all these A listers news: So ji sub. Go soo. Lee min ho. Kim myung min. Joo won & even won bin was mention (sadly not for a new project in the making but still)
Fangirling aside. I think that when kim myung is on screen evreything else fades. I'm guessing even the snow up the himalaya will have the same problem!

I hope Lee Min Ki isn't scripted to die again, though considering he'll be facing the perils of climbing Mt. Everest, I'm not holding out much hope. Why is he always dying on me?

Yaaay!! There was far too little Lee Min-ki in Haeundae, so I'll be glad to see him in another Action Man role. Really like the pairing of 2 very different but intense actors.

And Kim Myung-min. Just say his name, and I'm there!
Cos even though it's long since over, he's forever the king of dramas to me! :)

This sounds like an interesting movie! I first saw Lee Min Ki in Nell's music video & in Shut Up Flower Boy Band. I'm currently trying to watch his past projects. Just from the acting I saw in SUFBB, I think he's great! Can't wait to (hopefully) see this!
