JTBC’s new drama Her Legend casts Kim Jung-hoon

Cable channel JTBC is lining up a new drama for its next Monday-Tuesday opening, and has cast Kim Jung-hoon (I Need Romance) to headline the series titled Her Legend.
The description is rather vague, but not uninteresting: Two women with “switched fates” and a man “who has everything” embark on a pursuit of sincerity. That tells us very little, but JTBC has a solid track record of putting out well-executed dramas and I expect this one to share that same kind of thoughtful spirit running through many of their shows. Even if Kim Jung-hoon plays a character I’m tired of: a chaebol “prince” with both looks and smarts, who is heir to the nation’s top fashion and apparel corporation. Well, he’s played a gentle prince before (in Goong), so that takes care of that metaphor.
I’ll be honest: I’m not super excited about Kim Jung-hoon specifically—he’s all right, but I have no strong feelings about him—and it sounds like the swapped-fate leading ladies will carry the more interesting plot. So I’m more interested in seeing who they cast in those roles, and what tone the show will take—human drama? Romantic comedy? Melodrama? Just as long as the heroines aren’t twins separated at birth or anything like that; we’ve had enough of the Prince and Pauper stories, haven’t we? (See: Gwanghae, I Am the King, The Duo, Cinderella Man.)
Her Legend will follow current noir-crime series Heartless City; it premieres in July.

Very true. This guy has no appeal. He may be handsome, but he lacks "personality" as a leading man. I wish they chose a leading man that has a strong personality. He's king of weakling.

I only saw him in INR & thought he was OK for the part. The character was an a$$ tho, and I couldn't root for him.
I'm more curious than anything about this project.

oh yeah, hated in character in that drama. Kept wanting the female lead to end up with Choi Jin Hyuk!

nope, clearly not enough prince&pauper stories. the only one of these that was good was gwanghae, and that was somewhat...detached? like, not very close to the characters. i mean that historical vibe that just doesnt make it very personal.
it would be cool to do one that tries a more innovative, deeper, more analytical take on the subject. i do think there is still room for doing something interesting with that topic.
and, off-topic, being on a exam-binge-studying session, i just had the genious idea of making energy drink into ice slush. just had to share that...

I sincerely think it is the best drama of the year so far. If you don't have a lot of time, you should pick the good ones to watch, and Heartless/Cruel City will definitely be worth your time

It's really good. Dark and noir-ish, with a Batman/Gothic City feel to it - if you aren't affected by violence (it isn't gory or explicit, but it's inextricably woven into the story) and are prepared to possibly root for the bad guy (Jung Kyung Ho!), I'd definitely recommend it.

I'm not excited abt him, having only seen him in Goong, but jTVB has been putting out excellent drams like End of the World, Cruel Palace, Childless Comfort. So I'd like to find out what they do w this.

I dunno why I like him...but I do. Although I detested his character in INR and still feel like she shouldn't have forgiven him so easily. Sigh.
But still cautious about committing to this drama until I hear more news (like plot? And who is writing/directing?). Must admit though cable dramas are seriously kicking butt nowadays...

I USED to like him. But after the Goong fervor and mania died out, and Goong receded into the history of kdramas...I lost my love for him as well.

Ahh, he was beautiful in Goong and it really broke my heart when he didn't get the girl. Hopefully he'll have better luck this time!

He annoyed me so much in Goong. His character was just ridiculous and the acting was so subdued. I do like his soft voice because mine is similar to his and he seems like he truly has a gentle personality. From the little I know, I probably like him better as a person than an actor.

i dont have strong feelings about him either maybe because ive only watched one of his dramas but I need to say that him and his character was te only thing that made me stand "Goong"... having a character that saves a drama in your opinion is allways a point in favor of the actor/actress in my book..
