MBN’s sitcom You’re Here begins filming
by javabeans
I’ve been interested in MBN’s “Korean Friends” sitcom since it was announced, and now we’ve got the first stills from You’re Here, You’re Here, You’re Really Here (gah, that title), starring (from left to right) Yoo In-young, Jin Yi-han, and Lee Soo-kyung.
I’m not that familiar with Yoo In-young, the 27-year-old actress of A Man Called God and My Precious You, but I’m a big fan of the other two, who have solid comedic chops on top of dramatic skills. Plus, this sitcom touts itself as the first Korean sitcom to follow the American-style sitcom format, so I’ll be curious to see what that means, exactly. How will it differs from Korean-style sitcoms like High Kick and All My Love, for instance?
You’re Here, You’re Here, You’re Really Here features the Three’s Company premise of a mixed-gender trio living together, and the foibles and comedy that ensue from the arrangement. The show promises to draw out the funny with situational comedy rather than gags; I hope that means it’ll ditch the laugh track as well, although I’m not holding my breath on that front.
I loved Lee Soo-kyung in the (sorta) sitcom Soulmate, one of my all-time favorite series, where she was both funny and vulnerable playing an everywoman type of character. She said of her role here, “The character is really lovable. When I first received the script, I was startled at how similar she is to myself. That’s why I agreed right away.”
Her role is described as an office employee from a good background with a solid command in the skills of playing coy, being perceptive in reading people, and putting up a bravado. Ha.
Yoo In-young plays an actress who dreams of hitting it big in Hollywood, but in actuality is making her living playing adulterers. Double ha.
Then there’s “perfect man” Jin Yi-han, playing a graduate of a top law school with a genius IQ who’s convinced he’s happy being single and unmarried… until he moves in with his longtime friend. Muahaha. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
The sitcom has a running time of 30 minutes and will run for 120 episodes, premiering next month when cable station MBN launches.

I really love Yoo In young she was great in my precious you, I wanted her to get the man, she was not the typical nice girl, ready to sacrifice but a spioled brat with a big heart!
I lol(ed) at her character portrait! I hope she will get more recognition! Thanks javabeans!

I'm really psyched about all of the new cable offerings-- Kdramaland is expanding by leaps and bounds. *woo-hoos*
This one looks like it'll be a lot of fun. I, too, hope that they'll ditch the laugh track. I'm enjoying High Kick 3 but the laugh track is annoying and it seems so archaic to me. (I hope that the day when we can finally tell the laugh track: "You’re gone, you’re gone, you’re really gone!" isn't too far off.) I'm looking forward to seeing Jin Yi Han playing something other than a slimeball (which he does very well, btw).

I LOVE Jin Yi-han. Though I've only seen him in Conspiracy in the Court and that KBS daily drama, I like his acting and he's gorgeous to boot!

The stills are already confirming the american-style direction. Looks really awesome, and sophisticated... I don't know why, but the room differs from the fancy contemporary apartments we usually see in kdramas. It sorta looks like a classy 90s sitcom...hope its really funny ^_^
Hopefully someone subs this, let's set up a team at Darksmurf to sub all MBN sitcoms LMAOOOOO

I'm praying with you! Also praying for "lighting" mercies. Lighting is always too harsh. I'm not going for a dim or gritty texture, but the light just bounces off their heavily BB-creamed faces!

YES YES !!! Sometimes it just looks like kdramas are korea's answer to america's soap opera shooting setup. The light is just to harsh!
I always wondered since America shoots on RED or Panavision cameras, what does Korea use... (other than the special dramas that used DSLR) sometimes it seems there using regular broadcast cameras, the colours are so bland...then again its also the light!

I really can't watch anything with a laugh track. It is so distracting and doesn't make unfunny into funny. If this is a well written comedy it won't need a laugh track and if it isn't then a laugh track can't save it. I

Same here. Maybe they should try using a real crowd instead if they actually want to include laughing.

smart, huh? perfect? should i expect him to pull out his doctor's degree & pyschology degree randomly like in All My Heart? The description is slightly similar to his role in AMH.

As stated above You’re Here, You’re Here, You’re Really Here features the Three’s Company premise of a mixed-gender trio living together, and the foibles and comedy that ensue from the arrangement.
The 1970s TV-sitcom Three's Company (1976-1984) - the misadventures of 2 women and 1 man living in 1 apartment and their neighbors.
Primary characters:
Actor Jin Yi-han - Korean version of Jack Tipper
Actress Yoo In-young - Korean version of ditzy Chrissy Snow or accident-prone Cindy Snow (Chrissy Snow's cousin) or Terri Alden an intelligent and rational person - occupation registered nurse.
Actress Lee Soo-kyung - Korean version of Janet Woods
All you need now are the secondary characters:
Helen (Stanley's muumuu-wearing, love-starved wife.) and Stanley Roper (A hard-nosed landlord.) - the apartment building owners.
Or, a Ralph Furley the new apartment building superintendent (a position previously held by Stanley Roper). He considers himself the ultimate chick magnet/bachelor.
Larry Dallas who is a playboy neighbor, used car salesman, and Jack's best friend.
