Man of Honor’s production press conference

A week from its premiere, KBS’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama Man of Honor held its production press conference, with its main cast in attendance: Chun Jung-myung, Park Min-young, and Lee Jang-woo take the main three roles. Already I can see the Baker King-esque dynamic in the stills; nothing like a rich-boy-poor-boy rivalry in childhood to up the ante in adulthood, is there?
(Side note: Nice of them to keep the same hairstyles for their childhood counterparts, for ease of identification — but I’d hate to be the kid who stuck with the same haircut for over twenty years.)
Chun Jung-myung plays the Young-kwang of the drama’s title (it means honor), a former baseball star — the kind who delivers a home run with bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th inning and two outs — who has been pushed back to second string. Given the sports milieu, the role calls for some action. Chun unfortunately suffered a fall from a horse while shooting his recent drama The Duo, damaging his spine, knee, and leg, giving him difficulty walking. It was a pretty bad accident and at the time, he’d undergone both medical and naturopathic treatments to get in shape to resume filming.
He said, “I was a bit worried because I’m not entirely recovered yet. I like physical exercise, but for a few months after the accident I wasn’t able to do much. Young-kwang is a pro baseball player so I would need to get my body comfortable with his movements, so I worried that my physical condition wouldn’t be up to it.”
Yikes. Although he says all is well now, I’m not sure I believe that’s possible, considering he needed constant treatments and physical therapy. He said, “After suffering a severe injury, I’m more mindful of needing to take care of myself. And I have to do that in order to get fully into the acting.”
Park Min-young plays Jae-in, a nurse’s aide with a bubbly, energetic character. She only had two months off after City Hunter ended before taking on the new role, and admitted she was a little nervous about the time squeeze. “But I enjoyed the script so much, and really trust the director and writer.”
She also cut her long hair off for the first time in 14 years, in order to play up Jae-in’s bright personality. She’d been enthusiastic about the change, and found the thrill of chopping off her hair so exciting that she’d asked for a shorter cut.
Lee Jang-woo plays the other leg of the love triangle as Young-kwang’s rival In-woo, “with lots of fighting scenes with Chun Jung-myung and Park Min-young.” He added, “In most of my scenes, the scripts indicate, ‘Dismissively, not listening.’ Aside from his father, he treats everyone rudely, and acts like he’s king.” You may as well just call him Ma-jun v.2.0, while Young-kwang gets to be Tak-gu the Second.
Lee Jin plays a cool, confident design manager in an outdoor apparel company. Her character went to school with Young-kwang and has feelings for him, making her a romantic rival with Jae-in. Naturally, where Jae-in is plucky and poor, Lee Jin’s character is chic and fashionable. Because it would just be too much to have two nice women vie for the same guy, right? One has to be bitchy so we know who to root for, yunno, just in case promotional billing hadn’t made that clear.
Meanwhile, the supporting cast includes Choi Myung-gil, Kim Sung-oh, Lee Moon-shik, Sohn Chang-min, and Kim Yeon-joo
Man of Honor replaces Princess’s Man and premieres October 12.

From these highlights, Park Min Young still acts the same as in CH. I am getting the KNN vibes, but the 2 male leads are eye-candy. It did not give the feeling that it is going to be different from the typical cliche. Might watch it if the review is good. Will check out Tree with Deep Roots first. I must say the dramas coming out in the cable network sound interesting. That's only that much time in a day. Sigh.

But,
This has nothing to do with the show, but even if I had the great legs the women actors have, how do they walk and sit in those dresses without showing their lady parts or as one contestant on Project Runway said "The Good China "

Mhmm, Yeah I noticed that when I was watching WGM and Nickhun kept taking his coat off to cover Victoria's legs- I dunno why they do it though- can't you just buy a slightly longer dress where you don't flash people..?

IMHO, if you have to have a blanket to sit and not show "the good china", your dress is too short.
I love PMY, love the new short "do", not crazy about the uber-short dress.
I'm so far behind in my drama watching now, I'll catch this in 2014 if anyone says it's any good. :0/

am highly anticipating this drama just for my CJM , I cant wait to see him again in another great drama although I would have prefered his leading lady wasnt PMY but anyway am happy that its only a week and the drama begins , hope it will be a great success , CJM , FIGHTING........

i noticed that too!! she looks kinda conscious about the length in the second pic :O maybe her stylist is aiming to make her look taller by letting her wear shorter dress....but whatever...she has fabulous legs!!! And the color suits her perfectly :D

While I love both the leads, I'm still super ambivalent about this drama because watching Tak Gu was like being dragged along an endless rocky road while tied to a speeding truck -- you just couldn't catch a break.
BKKTG Spoiler ahead:
In BKKTG, Tak Gu didn't get the poor resilient girl of his dreams. Over the course of the drama, she ended up with Ma Jun. I was rooting for Eugene's character. If the lead won't get his girl, who's to say it can't happen with this drama? Oh yeah... the billing. But who knows? The writer seems to have a really sadistic writing style where the happy ending barely deserves its name.

I actually approved of Tak-goo not getting the girl, because really the other girl was a much better fit for him, and I felt like Eugene's character was the only one who could help Majun redeem himself at all. But I also had a ridiculous fondness for Majun (even if Joo Won can't really acttttttt~) so I wanted him to have his happy ending more than I wanted Tak-goo to have one.

Yay! Can't wait for this show. I've been off my kdrama watching mojo for a few weeks now, ever since Scent of a Woman ended. I haven't even been watching anything on my ever-expanding list of "To Watch Later," but I think this'll be the drama to do the trick. Mmmm, love Park Min YOung, and love CJM.

Really, really looking forward to this drama. I'm familiar with the 2 main leads, love their dramas, love their acting abilities, cute.
Lee Jang wook has got my attention & interest after watching him play the rich, spoilt, selfish immature, evil character against Donghae (JI Chang-wook, my new found most adorable Kdrama actor) in SMILE, DONGHAE Impressive performance. Cute too!

I for one think baker king was a fluke, if they use the same formula again it....may work with the slightly better cast but fingers crossed cos I like both the leads

is it just me but after Park Min Young cuts her hair short, which by the way looks super good and cute for her, she kinda looks a bit like Eugene..?? (like how her hair was set in Creating Destiny with her onscreen and offscreen husband)
When I look at the first picture of Park Min Young in the orange sweater, her smile and the way she looks at the camera makes me remind myself of Eugene, yes they are different but they definitely/possibly pass for sisters.. :)

i just known Lee Jang Woo in a reality show called We Got Married..his wife is T-ara's Eunjung...and they're cute together! well all I can say is I don't know why he's given the evil character all the time when he is so far from it in real life...anyways I wish the cast for the best in this show...

great casts - can't wait. Now Lee Min Ho was tall stand next to PMJ and now confirm that our WGM' Jangoonim is just as tall ( and handsome , of course ) - she like have on 4" sitletto and still not eye to eye w/ him . My shining general - good luck w/your new drama - expect nothing but the best from all 3 leads
