Jung Ryeo-won and Jung Kyeo-woon to join Salaryman?
by girlfriday
Upcoming SBS drama History of the Salaryman secured its leading man Lee Beom-soo, but has turned in a new direction for his leading lady. Jung Ryeo-won, who has been focusing the majority of her career on films, is reportedly in talks to take on the role. In addition, Jung Kyeo-woon (Romance Town, Dr. Champ) is also considering a supporting role. Not that I expected anything else from the producers behind Giant, but the cast looks like it’s shaping up nicely.
I suppose starting with Lee Beom-soo as your anchor doesn’t hurt in attracting your choice of leading ladies. It’d be nice to see Jung Ryeo-won back on the small screen, now that she’s established herself as an actress in a broad array of film roles. She’s probably a better fit than Lee Min-jung was, because she’s got a little more heft in the melodrama department. Salaryman is described as the story of an average, everyday office worker, and his personal struggle to succeed as he deals with loneliness and isolation. Somehow I’m not getting light and fluffy vibes, plotwise.
I was searching for a picture of Lee Beom-soo, and came across this one, below. Well, HELLOOO, NURSE! Was Jung Kyeo-woon cast solely for the purposes of ab-flexing contests between the two guys? Because I’ll tell ya, I suddenly don’t care so much what this drama’s about…

Hey, it's mister Insipid from Romance Town! He's darn cute though. Plotwise this sounds like it has potential, so maybe I'll give it a try.
Love Jung Ryeo Won, though I only know her from Sam Soon. But she was lovely in it! These are two gorgeous people, for sure. Is it just me or does the other guy look kind of like a (really fit) oompa loompa? It's partly his expression I think.

I agree.
I first saw Lee Beom-soo in Surgeon Bong Dal-hee and I fell in love with his adorkableness there as well as in the movie, My Wife is a Gangster 2.
So I definitely was not expecting that last picture of him.
Can't stop staring at those choco abs...*drooling*
Now, excuse me while I go take a cold shower.

That is one scary photo? Is that real? I still see him as the short Dr in Surgeon Bong Dal Hee. Plus he's the one that married his English language teacher right?
Plus new daddy right? Plus Jung Ryeo Won attended his wedding dinner. That's such an odd feeling. Hey I went to your wedding and now I am acting with your husband.
Anyway...great casting all round.

She was in "My Lovely Sam Soon", wasn't she?
Couldn't stand her character there, but I haven't seen her in anything else...

Ditto, I think she's a bit bizarre looking too, but her acting chops are great. She was super subtle in MNIKSS. I enjoyed her...annoyingness? Haha

I didn't to say the bizarre-looking thing so as not to be mean, but now that you have said it I'll confess I'm with you on this.
I struggle to enjoy annoyingness. I get really upset at characters/actors, although I realise it probably means they are acting really well. But when I passionately hate a character (which does happen quite a lot) I find it difficult to watch dramas with the same actor in it....

yeah, she was kinda strange in KSS, but I'm dying to see her in a different drama cuz I want to see a different side of her. She seems to act pretty well.

Really? I actually enjoyed her character in MNIKSS. She is so refreshing from the usual one-dimensional second lead bitches. That girl's motive actually made sense to me.

I don't like characters that go away for years and then come back thinking they can pick up right where they left from. Especially if they cruelly left without telling loved ones why.
She was selfish. She was selfish with the Daniel Henney guy (although he was being an idiot to follow her everywhere for months despite her having no feelings for him) and her final request was selfish too.

Aw, thank you for sharing! Please let Salaryman be moar like this! Haha!
I love Mr Gang-mo Ree.
Now one of the Jungs I quite like and would love for this Jung to appear in this show alongside Le Beom-soo, would be an interesting pairing. But the other Jung I really don't want anywhere near in miles radius to this show. The latter Jung isn't the one that was in Jamyunggo. Go figure.

Lee Beom Soo holds no appeal for me, regardless of what pics you try to throw up. He's just got this old-man, creeper-ish vibe.
I also couldn't get through Giant because you start with a boy actor who's obviously younger than the girl actor, and then when they're adults suddenly the boy looks a decade older than the girl. And all the older generation people look exactly the same. Not even some make-up attempt to correct for a twenty-year change. Ugh, so fake.

THAT'S why you didn't watch it? that's a big loss for you as Giant is one of the best k-dramas out there, imo. i was never once bothered by those issues, as there is so much going on in the drama alone that it's hard to even notice it.
in their defenses, though, girls tend to grow taller earlier than boys so it's not too much of a stretch for the girl to look older. as for the adult versions, Kangmo went through a lot and did a lot of labor while (dang it, i forgot her name) the main female lead grew up pampered

Yeah, that picture of Lee Bum-soo was from a while back when he started to intensify his work-out schedule and build his body. It did wonders for his jawline! It was (sort of still is) during the fad to get really big and muscular. Now I sound like I was creeping on him, but really I wasn't. I just had a phase where I absolutely loved him and these pictures happened to coincide with my period of (slight) obsession. There's actually another picture of him (similiar time I believe) where he did a nude photoshoot with some famous photographer. It's really just his upper body so nothing too revealing.
More on topic with the written portion of the article: anything with Lee Bum-soo means I'll tune in for at least the first week. Jung Kyeo-woon was okay in Dr. Champ, and Jung Ryeo-won is fine (I enjoyed some of her movies like Castaway on the Moon or Sleeping with the Enemy) so cast-wise, I see potential. Let's just hope that the writer and director deliver.

She is my favorite actress. She is gorgeous and he is handsome. A good combination that leaves the audience wanting for more and can't get up from their seats. Ryu Jung deserved credits for all her hard work. She is the best. Kepp up the good work.

Just starting to watch this most beautiful drama. A drama that has a new dimension with great levels of performance. Ryeo Won creates a new self image with her wild and gorgeous looks. She gains tremendous experience and able to perform at her optimum level. Want Salaryman to be the best and most beautiful drama of 2012. This drama is the best because of all who gave their best efforts. Beom Soo is just funny and a perfect match for Ryeo Won. Honestly I love Ryeo Won wild side. She creates a wonderful atmosphere and showed us what's she has got. She delivers them all. She is just amazing.
