Han Groo cast in daily drama on heels of Girl K

Rising young starlet Han Groo, star of the kickass cable hit Girl K, is doing pretty well for someone who debuted just this year. With an album and a successful action role under her belt, the nineteen-year old is looking to pound the pavement, actor-style, and take on upcoming MBC daily drama Just Be Like Today.
She’ll be starring opposite some of my favorite tv parents — Kim Gab-soo and Kim Mi-sook, both from every drama ever. Who needs acting school when you can just go to work and learn from these guys every day? This daily drama is no different from any other, and revolves around this family unit, with a bustling supporting cast.
Han Groo has been noted to look like almost every actress you can name — chiefly Sung Yuri, whom she’s pretty much the spitting image of. In action I actually think she looks more like Go Hyun-jung by way of Moon Geun-young a lot of the time. But what’s great about her is that the comparisons stop there. She’s not just a pretty face resembling other stars, but a really talented young actress with her own presence. I think she’ll be something amazing given the chance to really hone her craft.
Can’t you just picture her as the female answer to City Hunter? Yes please. She kicks So. Much. Ass. I can’t wait till she’s headlining her own Alias-esque franchise. Till then, Girl K reruns, anyone?
Just Be Like Today has completed the script read and begun shooting, and premieres in a few weeks on MBC.

Wow! Lucky girl, to be able to work with two of the best veterans in the industry at the same time.
Isn't the Angel Heart manga a spinoff to City Hunter manga? The production team should make a series using that as a start off point for a drama adaptation. ( I know that City Hunter was more its own thing than adaptation from the manga, but how cool would it be if they kept it up? Not to mention, Han Groo would kick ass as Glass Heart a young assassin who lost her memories with a birth secret...)

Han Groo did a real nice job in "Girl K" (too bad it was so short, the story line could have easily been filled out for an 8 or 10 ep arc).
And yeah, she does look a bit like Sung Yuri, at times (esp. when her eyes are open and looking upwards) and Moon Geun-young at other times (when her eyes are partially closed).
Also HG not having the stick figure/legs that so many K-pop girls have these days made her more believable as the kick-ass assassin.

I've always pictured the female City Hunter as someone like Cybersix. I don't think that it was really well known, but even after 12 years, I still have fond memories of that cartoon. A female robot who cross-dresses during daytime and saves the world when night fall, while longing for love and humanity... What's not to like! I really wished they could do a drama about that!
To go back on topic, I really wish Han Groo all the best! It`s so rare to see young actress (especially former idols) poured theirselves into a role and not just care about being pretty. A serious gem!

If we had a female version of City Hunter, it would have to have a main female character that the guys would go crazy over because she was so smoking hot -- like the girls did for Lee Min Ho. Han Groo seems more like a normal, more believable, everyday girl. I didn't watch Little K so this is just my opinion.

Kim Gab Soo is my ahjusshi crush, Theres probably a 20year+ gap between us, but hey age is just a number ;p...

Did not realise she was a new actress nor that she was a singer but was enthralled by her acting in Girl K for one that is new she was brilliant and obviously is going to have a great career if she is not cast in rubbish scripts. I also agree girl k was to short but by the ending maybe there will be a second series hopefully longer maybe 10 episodes
