Lee Chun-hee and Kim Sae-ron cast as uncle and niece
by javabeans
Newly married Lee Chun-hee (Gloria) and precocious young actress Kim Sae-ron (Do You Hear My Heart?) are teaming up to play uncle and niece in a new movie by Mom’s a Whore and Dad’s a Dog director Lee Sang-woo. Seriously, does this girl have all the luck or what? She got to act in Ajusshi with Won Bin, I Am Dad with Kim Seung-woo, and now Lee Chun-hee. Course, it’s hard to hold anything against her when she’s just so darned endearing; she’s currently winning hearts the country over with the weekend drama Do You Hear My Heart?
Director Lee’s also the writer for this movie, titled Bobby, which features the friendship between a Korean girl, Soon-young, and an American boy named, you guessed it, Bobby. Kim Sae-ron plays Soon-young, a young girl living with her younger brother, mentally handicapped father and loutish uncle (Lee Chun-hee). Despite her humble circumstances, she maintains her innocence and sense of hope.
The movie touches on the issue of international adoptions, with Lee Chun-hee’s character, Uncle Mang-taek, working as an adoption broker with visions of getting rich quick. He sounds like a rough character to like, as Mang-taek makes the very bold move of trying to adopt out his own niece to the U.S., in what is described as a “provocative acting transformation” for Lee.
I’d say Lee has played a range of characters in his career thus far (which includes the trendy drama Only You, fusion sageuk Conspiracy in the Court, conventional sageuk Great King Sejong, family drama Smile You, war series Road No. 1, and weekend drama Gloria) — but this hard-to-sympathize-with wastrel may be his biggest change yet. The role will show him stooping to all sorts of behavior in the name of making some fast cash, characterized by lots of swearing and violence as well.
Bobby began filming last month and is currently still in production. It has already stirred some buzz for being invited to the Pusan International Film Festival, and will also enter the Venice Film Festival.

I think it's just big shoes. You can see that the end of her feet doesn't quite go up to the end of the shoe.

This girl must have "saved a country in her past life"
I wonder what country that was...

She may have been lucky to be cast, but holy OPPA, she took the hackeysack and ran with it in CYHMH.

Is it just me or does Kim sae-ron bear some resemblance to Lee Chun-hee? I mean they can act as father and daughter and I would believe that they actually are :S.

Chun hee, why you so mean??
But seriously...luckiest little girl in the world is right. This role for her though reminds me of her previous role in Can You Hear My Heart. "a young girl living with her younger brother, mentally handicapped father and loutish uncle" In CYHMH it was more like: a young girl living with her ungrateful older brother, mentally handicapped step-father and spazzy grandma.
I'm looking forward to this nonetheless.

Lee Chun Hee also has also acted incredibly in a couple of movies. In "Beauty," a film in which he played a police officer, he transformed himself into a totally different person.

I saw that films too and it was the first time I had ever come across him. He was kind of a creeper in that role so it has been hard for me to get that image out of my mind but after seeing CITC and Smile, You he has grown on me a bit. :)

I like Lee Chun Hee. He's a very good actor.
But I have a different feeling with the kid. I watched her in Ahjussi. She lacks emotion. I didn't feel her acting. Her eyes were blank.

I think the blank look suited her character in Ahjussi though since she seemed to be somewhat numb inside after the crummy life she had to endure. And when she was around Won Bin's character she seemed more bright and lit up a bit.

Well, i don't know if you can find english subs for it, but actually Kim SaeRon's first movie was "Une vie toute neuve" which deals with adoption (the director is a korean adoptee). So it may interest you too !

How is is strange? It's "Bobby", because the main love interest of the girl is named Bobby.
Maybe you got it mixed up with the director's previous film, "Mom's A Whore & Dad's A Dog"?

On first reading I thought they were married to each other in real life and it just seemed creepy. I'm so glad I was wrong.
