Sunny breaks 2 million tickets in two weeks

Looks like hit-maker Kang Hyung-chul is out to break his own record. Sunny has already sold over 2 million tickets in fifteen days, breaking Speed Scandal‘s 2 million mark by one day. That film went on to sell 8.3 million tickets in its theatrical run in 2008-9. Is Sunny poised to do the same?
Above is a photo that Min Hyo-rin posted online with a congratulations sign when the news broke, with the message that she wants to do the same for its 3, 4, and 5 million tickets sales. It seems likely that the film will continue on its streak, with great reviews and word of mouth building its momentum, even against Hollywood summer blockbusters.
Sunny is a coming-of-age tale set in 1980, about a ragtag group of girls who rule the school. The story spans thirty years as they meet up again in the present as adults, and reminisce about their unforgettable friendship.
Here’s a different trailer, that introduces each of the girls as a familiar type, as in: Does this describe the friend sitting next to you? There’s 1) the “Reversal Type: Nami” (Shim Eun-kyung), 2) the “Loyal Type: Choon-hwa” (Kang So-ra), 3) the “Escapes Reality Type: Jang-mi (Kim Min-young), 4) the “Potty Mouth Type: Jin-hee (Park Jin-joo), 5) the “Protection Professor Type: Geum-ok” (Nam Bora), 6) the “4-D Type: Bok-hee” (Kim Bomi), and 7) the “Uljjang Type: Suzy” (Min Hyo-rin).

In Korea right now. Saw this!! SOOO good I saw it twice, because I felt like dragging my doubtful friends to see it too. Proved them wrong. They cried and laughed. All was good. In cafes, on buses and subways, I overhear people talking about Sunny, and wondering whether it really is as good as people say. The funny thing is, before watching it, most people are nonchalant about it, but afterwards become the ones to rave! Must see must see must see!

i really don't like min hyo rin. it's like she spends most of the time looking pretty. have you ever seen her with any other facial expression except for that intense lower head tilt with tiny smile expression? she has that face on the red carpet, in fashion magazines, in her dramas and now in these stills and her online page.

have you really watched her dramas? if you really did, you'd know that she's very lively on screen, not boring at all.
i think it's rather strange that you dislike someone because they appear boring lol. i understand indifference but actual dislike? lol. and the reason for how she looks in these stills? that's her character.

Aigoo, this trailer reminds me of watching that American movie "Now and Then", but it was good and interesting. =)

I may be a little rusty on my retro hair styles, but I don't feel like their hair screams the 80's to me. 90's for sure, but I feel like those girls should be sporting more embarrassing hair styles to stay true to the era. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong xD

This so makes me think of 'Now and Then' which was one of my favorite movies growing up. I remember watching it over and over. I so hope it makes it States-side for a visit, preferably somewhere in the southeast. I would definitely take a mini-break to go and see it.

OMG! I'm not at all surprised that it made this much in 2 weeks, the movie was excellent, each character have their own personality. It definitely made me laugh (A LOT) and cry (A LOT TOO). This is one movie you don't want to miss.
